The next morning after Ellie Mae and Zoey got ready for school, they heard Luther yelling and begging. Ellie Mae had her curly hair in a half updo and she wore a black denim jacket, a white shirt with red stripes, blue jeans, and her black sneakers. Zoey was dressed in a rainbow turtleneck and a denim skirt.
"No no no please...I'll let you have a free show…" Luther begged. The two girls looked at each other and made their way downstairs where Ellie Mae began to make breakfast. Then someone hugged her from behind
"Good mornin' gorgeous…" Ellie Mae smiled, knowing that voice.
"Mornin' Sylvie…" She smiled at the boy. Luther sneered at both of them and then stormed towards Ellie Mae.
"I hope you're happy...Dr. Lewis isn't going to play for us tonight…and it's all your fault…" Luther pointed at Ellie Mae
"Now now Daddy...It ain't ruined just yet...Why don't we have Sylvester play?" Ellie Mae gestured to the young boy
"Yeah, Luke...Let Sylvie play…" Blowhorn added. "He been wantin' to play for months now...maybe this is his chance…"
"He can't play...I already have a teen playing in a band…"
"Now sir what's wrong with me...I play saxophone just as well and I can sync in with anybody and the bandmates will walk me through on what we gonna play…" Sylvester tried to persuade him
"Please Daddy…" Zoey begged. "He's good...I heard him…" Luther glanced from Zoey to the two teens who smile hopefully
"Fine but you got one shot you hear...practice run is 7:30 sharp…" Luther pointed at the teens
When Violet got to school, She walked to her lockers
"Violet wait up a minute…" a voice rang out. Violet grimaced, slightly knowing who it was. Surprisingly enough it was Ellie Mae.
"Listen...I'm sorry about yesterday...You know gettin' on the wrong foot...It was my fault really…"
"Ellie...It's fine…" Violet said roughly
"Maybe we can hang out sometime...I just wanna make it up to you…"
"Listen...It's nice of you but I gotta babysit…" then Ellie Mae had an idea
"That's how I can make it up to you...I can help babysit...Me Sylvester and Zuzu…"
"I don't know about this...Have you ever babysat before?" Violet questioned.
"I have...After Jane had Zuzu...Her friends had babies of their own and I babysat them most of the time...It was a lot but I can handle it...Besides you might need help...3 is better than one…" Ellie said.
Violet had a look of reluctance but she gave in to the girls wishes
"Fine but if my parents ask, you invited yourself and your party…"
"Oh don't you worry I'll be gone before they arrive...besides I have a performance and mic check at 7:30 so I should be fine and I'll change there…"
"Okay...I'll give you the address...how fast can you get there?" Violet asked placing the address in Ellie Mae's hands
"I can make it straight there...Don't you worry you won't regret one Lil bit…" Ellie Mae then ran straight to class leaving a bewildered Violet
"I hope I made the right decision…" Violet sighed.
After foiling a robbery Mr. Incredible and Frozone tie up the robbers to the pole.
"That should keep them there…" Mr. Incredible said to himself
"Yeah, the cops should get them pretty soon…"
"Hey, something on your mind…."
"Yeah, I do...There's this jazz club I'm going to tonight...See a band play some bossa nova...You and Helen care to join in…"
"Sure...I'll have Vi watch the boys…When are we going…"
"Tonight plus I have someone I want you to meet…" then they heard a gunshot and they both took off to the source.
Ellie Mae promised Violet to meet at the new house and Ellie Mae kept her promise by taking herself, Sylvester, and Zoey to the house
"Woah they must be rich…I'm gon' cry…" Sylvester said, looking at the house
"I won't judge you a bit…"
"This house is huge…" Zoey shouted at the top of her lungs and Ellie Mae had to hush her.
When they got to the door, Ellie Mae was about to knock on the door until a small blonde boy opened it.
"Hey, Violet...Your new friend is here...And She's hot…" Ellie Mae blushed as Dash's charm
"Well, You're not so bad yourself…" Ellie Mae pinched his nose and wiggled it.
"Well come in…" Violet yelled from the next room. Then Ellie Mae, Sylvester, and Zoey wandered their way inside. The house was much bigger from the inside, especially with the modern touch.
"I guess real estate must be real cheap here…" Sylvester whispered to Ellie Mae
"Oh ho ho You haven't seen anything yet…" Dash showed them the features throughout the house, amazing the trio.
"Don't get any ideas, thinking we bought this house...It was loaned to us…" Violet came in holding Jack-Jack, who was more than happy about the guests coming in.
"Aww...He's so cute...What's his name?" Ellie Mae asked.
"His name is Jack-Jack…" Violet answered
"Hi, Jack-Jack...Aww can I hold the sweet thing…" Jack-Jack giggled, reaching for her and Violet gave him to Ellie Mae.
"Aww, you so gorgeous...Who's a handsome Lil man…" Ellie Mae tickled his belly, making the cutest laughs escape his mouth but then he stopped and saw a red handmark on her cheek and looked at Sylvester angrily.
"Oh, this...Don't you worry Jack-Jack...Sylvie didn't do this to me...Someone else did…" Ellie Mae reassured him
"Yeah...I would never hurt her...She's like a girlfriend-I mean family to me...My uncle and his friends raised her…"
"I hate to break up this moment but Does anyone here know how to do decimals…" Dash held up a math book and Sylvester smiled at him
"I got you lil man…" He said
"I didn't know you were a math wiz…" Ellie perked up
"Besides music, math is one of my strongest subjects...Come on Dash…" Sylvester and Dash walked over to the kitchen table while Ellie Mae gently placed Jack-Jack down on the couch.
"Wanna see somethin' pretty...Watch this…" Ellie Mae clamped her hands together and a rainbow butterfly came out. Violet rolled her eyes slightly. Jack-Jack was blown away.
"Ya ready…" Jack-Jack nodded slowly and then Ellie Mae released thousands of them. They flew around Jack Jack's head. The baby tried to catch them but he couldn't. Ellie Mae smiled and caught all of the butterflies in her hands. Then Jack-Jack began to float towards her, surprising Ellie Mae, but she kept calm and began to smile. She began to levitate herself, making Jack-Jack smile, seeing that she can float with him too.
"No way...Ellie Mae has powers…" Dash raced over to her.
"Yeah…She does…" then Dash turned to his sister.
"Why didn't you tell us…"
"I don't know, ask her…" Violet turned to Ellie Mae sharply. Then Ellie Mae sighed sadly and floated down with Jack-Jack in her arms
"Let's just say my family ain't too fond of people who use their powers…"
"The people that gave you the powers don't like you using it…" Violet said
"No...Luther and Jane aren't my parents…" Dash's eyes widened slightly
"It's an adoptive relationship between them...It's a little complicated…" Sylvester adds
Then two small yawns were heard from both Jack-Jack and Zoey. Ellie Mae smiled and began to hum a tune to both small children. She sounded beautiful and calm and Jack-Jack leaned to her chest to listen to the young teen's heartbeat, which drowned out the humming and he fell asleep in her arms. Violet showed Ellie Mae to the nursery and she gently placed Jack-Jack in his bed and Ellie Mae held her sleeping adoptive sister and rocked her. Violet, Dash, and Sylvester smiled warmly seeing this action unfold.
"You know...The amazing thing about babies is...They need you to take care of them so you can take care of yourself...I know I always get assigned to take care of Zuzu, her mother's friend's babies...But sometimes I enjoy it...It just makes me happy to see them happy y'know...Zuzu will always have a place in my heart...I like taking care of her...in a way...She takes care of me…" Violet and Dash's eyes widened when she said that and Sylvester saw a tear slowly slip down her cheek. He slowly walked up to her and gently wiped the tear from her cheek
"Hey, Vi...What time is it…"
"It's 5:30…"
"Ellie Mae...If we wanna catch practice runs we should go…"
"Okay...Is there anything else Sylvie and I can help out with…"
"No Everything's fine, we can take it from here...Thank you by the way…" Violet thanked. She started to feel bad for being cold to her before.
"That's what friends are for...We help each other out…" Ellie Mae whisper
"Ellie I owe you an apology…" Violet told her.
"For what…"
"I haven't been too nice to you and I'm sorry…" Violet told her. "I know what it's like to hide your powers"
"Yeah, and Your powers are nothing to be ashamed of…" Dash added. "That's what dad told us…"
"Well, Your parents sound real wise…" Ellie Mae smiled. "Tell Jack-Jack we said goodbye okay…"
"We will…" then with that the trio left the house peacefully.
Then Ellie Mae and Sylvester changed into their formal clothes. The band gave Sylvester a dark blue suit and Ellie Mae wore her hair up in a curly bun, she wore a pinkish white blouse, showing her arms, skinny jeans, and white flats.
"Sylvie...Did you mean what you said back there...about me being a girlfriend to you…"
"Yeah...I fell in love with you...When you show off your skills to them folks the other day…" Sylvester smiled at her
"I like you as soon as you smiled at me...and that duet we had…" Ellie Mae smiled and he smiled back at her.
"Ooh...a Lil love is in the air," the bandmates came in and checked on the two teens. "Y'all ready for a show…"
"You know we are…." Ellie Mae smiled.
When the band came out, Sylvester started them off with Ellie Mae following after. The band's funky and beautiful music had everyone swaying and even snapping their fingers along with the band. When they finished, the sound of cheer and applause rang through the crowd.
When the second half of the band played, Ellie Mae and Sylvester took a break and went to an empty table in the back.
"That was amazing…" Sylvester beamed quietly
"I know…" Ellie Mae added. Then a familiar man came over with a large blonde man and his wife.
"Ellie Mae…" Lucius said
"Oh, Mr. Best…"
"I want you to meet my good friends Bob and Helen Parr…"
"Pleasure to meet you…" Helen greeted.
"You guys were amazing up there…" Bob added.
"Thank you…" The two teens said.
"We'll enjoy the rest of the show...I know you two are exhausted…."
"Nice to meet y'all…" Ellie Mae called out as they took their seats.
"You know that man Ellie…" Sylvester asked
"He's a friend of my real Daddy…" Ellie Mae answered. Then Sylvester stared at her and smiled. "Why are you-" then Sylvester suddenly kissed her. It caught the teen by surprise but she melted into the kiss anyway.
Ellie Mae couldn't stop thinking about the kiss she and Sylvester shared on her way to bed. She smiled and fell asleep.
Ellie Mae and Sylvester talked it up the next day and They hung out with Violet and Tony. They walked out of their class
"You know what we should do...We should have a double date…" Ellie Mae suggested.
"Yeah, that's a good idea…" Tony agreed. Violet nodded in agreement.
"We should go...We gotta pick up Zoey…" Sylvester pointed to his watch
"Bye Y'all" And the couple walked away happily together.
When they arrived at the school it went down in flames. Ellie Mae screamed for Zoey's name and ran around. She spotted a coughing teacher racing out
"What happened…"
"An explosion happened...I think a few other students are inside…"
"ZOEY!" Ellie Mae screamed. She listened around for her sister to respond back
"Mama Ellie…" She heard Zoey yell from the school. The young teen raced as fast as she could towards the school entrance but then a second explosion happened, knocking the young teen backward. Ellie Mae's vision began to blur around her, her ears rang and she felt dizzy. Sylvester rushed over to her and picked her up. Once she regained her composure, She rapidly looked around for Zoey. She didn't hear a sound and She didn't hear any steps
"ZOEY…." She screamed at the top of her lungs. "ZOEY…ZOEY…"
Then she collapsed in anguish, realizing that she just lost her sister and her only happiness.
"This is all my fault...I'm so sorry Zoey...How am I gon' explain this…" Sylvester came by her side and held his griefing girlfriend until the paramedics arrived.
A/N- Another sad note about this is in the part where Ellie Mae talks to Violet and Dash about children, She had a mental breakdown without realizing it. Her powers will play a bigger role in the next chapter.
