A/N- If you were confused about what I meant in the last chapter, Southern Belle is Ellie Mae's special nickname because Elijah is from the south so he wanted to bring his southern roots into his little girl. Anyway, enjoy the story.

Into Ellie Mae's deep subconscious, a child's giggle was heard. There were also adult voices in her mind. Ellie Mae slowly woke up to see that she's in a dark void. She looked around and was in shock that she wasn't fully awake.

"Holy Jambalaya…" Ellie Mae whispered to herself. Then the giggling was heard again. She sharply turned right and left to try and find the culprit. Then suddenly she saw a little girl and her parents playing in the park, the parents were pushing the girl on the swing.

"Go Ellie Mae Go…" the parents cheered. 14-year-old Ellie Mae gasped.

"Yay I'm flying I'm flying…" young Ellie Mae cheered.

Ellie Mae stood there watching the memory play and tears rolled down her face

"I still got happy memories…" Ellie Mae whispered. Then the memory vanished and the sound of giggling disappeared and was replaced with crying. Ellie Mae turned and saw her younger self hugging her father crying

"Th-Th-Th-the kids at my school called me ugly...and-and-and said I shouldn't exist…" Ellie Mae finished with a huge sob. All Elijah could do was hold his child. He knew this day would come when the children would make fun of her because of her skin color and her African American heritage from her father's side.

"Ellie Mae...There's something Daddy's gotta show you…" Elijah looked into his daughter's eyes. "Something that may help you…"

"I remember the museum…" present Ellie Mae mouthed. Then the two sat in the museum full of paintings, there was one Elijah pointed to his Ellie Mae. It was a bunch of darker-skinned citizens surrounded by an empire-like city. It amazed the young girl.

"You see Ellie Mae...400 years of torture that we went through, we still came through strong, through our faith and taking back the power we rightfully deserved...I want you to take this with you forever...and promise me you keep this in your heart forever...No matter what anyone says...no matter what anyone does to you...NEVER let anyone take away your power...Say it with me...You'll never take my power…" Elijah told his offspring

"You'll never take my power…" young Ellie Mae repeated. "You'll never take my power…"

"That's my girl…" then teenager Ellie Mae cried and dropped to her knees. She couldn't believe she forgot that saying from that day. Then another memory appeared before her eyes

"Ellie Mae...this is my good friend Mr. Luther…and Ms. Jane" Norma Jean introduced a younger Luther and Jane. Luther sneered at the child while Jane awed at her.

"Norma, she's gorgeous…" Norma Jean smiled and as soon as she turned her back, Jane rolled her eyes. When present Ellie Mae saw this, an ugh came out

"They never liked me...not even when Mama and Daddy were around…" Ellie Mae said out loud

Then another memory appeared when Ellie Mae's parents were leaving their daughter in Luther and Jane's hands, which was a devastating mistake.

"Mama Daddy, I don't want you to go…" the five-year-old girl cried.

"We'll be back before you know it sweetie pie…" Norma Jean cupped her daughter's cheek

"Yeah, Our business trip is only for a couple of days and we'll be back...Okay, Belle..." Elijah added. Ellie looked at them with red puffy eyes from her tears, holding a stuffed teddy bear, she slowly nodded her head.

"That's my girl…" Norma Jean pulled in for one last hug which the girl hugged back harder.

Then Ellie Mae saw that her younger self was in bed in her former room, then Luther came in.

"I'm sure the bandmates let you know what happened…" He said. Ellie Mae slowly nodded. "Your parents died...there was an explosion in their hotel...now you're just a lonely poor, ugly little orphan...You have nothing left...You're just like them poor folks now…" once Luther left the room, Ellie Mae sobbed. Peeking in the room Luther smiled evilly at her.

Then slowly, Ellie Mae woke up in a dark room. She quickly looked around the room. Then a light shined in her face, making her more frightened as she tried to pull herself out but her hands were restrained as well as her feet.

"Hey hey...Don't be frightened kid, we're just gonna ask you some questions…" a man with gray hair and a suit came into the room.

"Please let me out, I ain't done nothin' wrong…" Ellie Mae spoke frantically.

"Rick, please...She's already scared enough as it is…" a large blonde man Ellie Mae recognized sat down next to Dicker.

"Where's Sylvester...I wanna see him…" Ellie Mae demanded. Her blue eye began to glow.

"Now Ellie-" then Ellie Mae locked eyes with Bob, hypnotizing him.

"Please get Sylvester in here please and then I want you to release me…" Ellie Mae commanded. Then Bob slowly got up from his seat and walked hypnotically out of the room.

"Now Ellie...We're not going to do anything to you…"

"You sure you ain't gonna send me to jail…I never killed Zoey...I loved that girl with all my heart and soul while Luther and Jane neva eva did nothin' for her…" Ellie Mae started to yell

"Please kid...We don't have time for this...Just please calm down...we just want to ask a couple of questions...Sylvester is okay...Don't you worry about him…"

"Ellie…Ellie Mae…" She heard a familiar voice desperately calling her.

"Sylvie...Sylvie…" She screamed. She tried to move but she couldn't. So she stared really hard at the restraints and they broke and once Sylvester came in the room alongside Bob, the two teens embraced each other with Ellie Mae sobbing in his arms.

"Are you okay...Did they hurt you…" Ellie Mae cried.

"Ellie I'm fine...Please don't worry about me…" Sylvester reassured.

"Can you both sit down?" an agent stepped in by Dicker's side. Sylvester shield Ellie Mae behind him

"What do y'all want with her...She ain't did nothing wrong…"

"I know she didn't but a little something from her got exposed…" The old man then showed the footage of Ellie Mae knocking down all of the trees in the cemetery as well as knocking out the power. "Now does anyone else besides him know about your powers…"

"I...I…" Ellie Mae stuttered. "The bandmates know about my powers...but please leave them out of this...They didn't do anything wrong either…"

"Okay, We'll leave them out of it…"

"And leave us out of this too…" Ellie Mae added.

"What do you plan on doing kid, run away someplace, you have no money, no clothes, and your powers are exposed. The police will be hunting you down wherever you go…" Rick Dicker told her.

Sylvester grimaced, knowing that there was no way out for the both of them. All Ellie Mae could do was hold onto him

"Well...I...What can we do…I didn't mean for that to happen...I didn't mean for any of this to happen...my powers were outta control… I'm sorry…"

"Sweetheart...Never apologize for your powers…" Helen came into the room. She glanced at her husband and saw that he was still under Ellie Mae's control. Ellie Mae snapped her fingers and He snapped out of it. "Your hurting Ellie Mae...Your powers just reflected that hurt inside of you…" Tears streamed down Ellie Mae's face which Helen stepped up to wipe away. "I know what it's like to stand by while you lose the ones you love…"

"It's my fault I didn't save her...I should've died, not her...She didn't make it past 5 years old…" Ellie Mae sobbed. Sylvester wrapped his arms around her.

"The explosion happened at Zoey's school, We tried to find her but she was still inside...Ellie Mae tried to rush in but another explosion happened and we didn't hear her anymore…It's hurt her ever since...them conniving heifers have been blaming her for the death since she told them...that's what triggered her powers…" Sylvester explained.

Helen, Bob, and Rick Dicker glanced at each other and at the two teens.

The next thing they knew, they were in a truck. Ellie Mae held onto Sylvester, nervous about where they were going. Sylvester looked down at Ellie and saw her fearfully clinging on to him.

He was just as scared as her but he wanted to be brave for her sake. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around Ellie Mae's shoulders.

"Thank you…" Ellie Mae whispered. Sylvester just smiled at her and cuddled closer to her.

When they arrived at their destination, it turned out that they were going to the Parr residence.

"Well, When Dicker told us you didn't have a place to stay...Well, you can stay with us for a while…" Helen told them warmly.

"It's very sweet of y'all but I don't wanna invade your space...Sylvie and I can find a motel and walk from there-"

"Sweetie, no, we're not going to leave you on the street...after losing everything...You're staying with us…" Helen told her. The two teens looked at each other and followed the rest of the family inside.

Ellie Mae and Sylvester didn't touch their plate of food served to them. The family could also sense their unsure nature.

"Hey...I know this is a lot for both of you to take in...but we just have to figure out what's triggering your powers…" Bob spoke up. He mainly looked at Ellie Mae, who just glanced at her hands with a look of fear. Helen glanced at Bob angrily and decided to change the subject

"I love your dress, Ellie Mae…" Ellie Mae looked down at her dress and just sighed.

"It was my birth mama's dress...She wore it when my daddy proposed to her...Luther and Jane aren't my parents…" Ellie Mae looked down. Then She gasped. "The rest of my stuff is back at the club...I gotta go get them…" Ellie Mae was about to stand up until Sylvester grabbed her hand

"Luther probably changed the lock on you...probably even locked the place down…" Sylvester said. Then Ellie Mae sadly shrank back down in her seat.

"Then...I have lost everything...Absolutely everything…" Ellie Mae spoke. Before anyone could reach out to her, Ellie Mae raced away and slammed the door.

"Poor Ellie…" Helen voiced.

"Why are those guys so mean to her…" Dash asked Sylvester. Then a knock on the door was heard. Dash ran as fast as he could to the door, opened it, and saw the band.

"Slow Drag, Rooster, Uncle Blowhorn, Boy am I glad to see you…" Sylvester said, running to the three.

"Where's Ellie Mae...there's something we need to give her…" Slow Drag asked. Then on cue, Ellie Mae ran inside.

"Guys…" Ellie tearfully ran towards them and they all embraced. "I thought they wouldn't let you see us…"

"We snuck the address...We had to give you something…" Slow Drag, nudged at Rooster, who was holding something behind his back. Ellie Mae tilted her head and then Rooster took out the box filled with her parents' pictures and the video camera. Ellie Mae gasped.

"We also got you some of your stuff…" Blowhorn brought out a suitcase. Taped on it was the drawing Zoey made for Ellie Mae.

Ellie Mae froze, seeing all of her and her parent's belongings in front of her and she hugged the band once more.

"What did I do to deserve y'all…" Ellie Mae sobbed happily. The band hugged her back.

"Hey, You'll always have us…" Slow Drag told her. Then the Parr family approached them in utter confusion.

"Ellie Mae, Sylvester, who are these guys-" Bob started before Helen interrupted him

"Oh, you guys are the band…" Helen asked. They nodded.

"Ellie, Sylvester...Can we have a word with them alone…"

Ellie Mae and Sylvester turned to each other and they walked off, taking Ellie Mae's belongings with them.

"So you're the band Ellie Mae was talking about?" Bob asked.

"Yeah...Ellie's had it hard since she was over there at the club when her parents left her there for a business trip...and then they died." Slow Drag explained solemnly

"Luther and Jane neva' cared about her...Even if they faked it...they're nothin' but a bunch of fakers...I'm glad she's outta there…" Rooster added.

"Please take good care of her if you're her benefactors...We plan on taking her in once this madness is over and done with…" Blowhorn finished.

Ellie Mae and Sylvester then sat on the stairs of the house. Ellie leaned onto her lover and sighed.

"What's wrong Ellie…" Sylvester asked.

"I'm really scared, Sylvie...What if Dicker and them use me for some sort of weapon…" Ellie Mae confided.

"I'm sure they won't do that to you…"

"I just never knew my powers could be this dangerous and so powerful…"

"Hey...You're not dangerous...you just gotta hone in your powers...that's all…"

"Easier said than done...and even if I could control them...how would I be able to stop myself…"

"No that's ain't it...You gotta get Luther and Jane's words outta your head…" Sylvester faced her and cupped her cheeks. Violet and Dash eavesdropped on the conversation.

"I know but...I just gotta figure this out...I want to be a better sister to Zoey...maybe being a super would be a good thing for me...then I could figure out who's causing those explosions and who killed my adoptive sister…" Then a gentle rumble took place in the room and then something broke on the floor.

"Maybe we should control your powers first before we do anything…" Violet pitched in.

"I think I know the person...E…" Dash turned to his sister.

"Who's E?" Sylvester asked.

"You'll find out in the morning…" Violet told them.

The next morning, Bob and Helen took Ellie Mae and Violet to Edna Mode's house. Ellie Mae nervously leans to her new friend

"Are you sure this is gonna work?"

"Don't worry about it...If anyone can help with your powers it's her…"

"She'll also provide you with a super-suit too…" Helen looked back.

Ellie Mae covered herself with Sylvesters large black jacket he loaned her. Underneath she wore a white shirt with red, blue, yellow, and pink stripes(think Max's shirt from stranger things 3) denim shorts, and her black sneakers

When they arrived, the telecom went off.

"What is it? What do you want?" the short woman asked. Then Helen began to explain.

"We have a new super…" Helen leaned out of the way for Edna to see Ellie Mae who sheepishly waved.

"Ay, Yi Yi...come in come come…" then the gate opened allowing the four of them to come in.

"So you come to me with fresh meat…" Edna asked aghast

"Well, She's a special case…" Bob told her

"You said that last time involving your baby and he had at least 17 powers...yet a tough and lovely assignment...I see that this girl is a little shy but her powers come in a little later…"

"Well, Edna if I may…her powers are more emotional-based…" Helen interrupted

"Emotions…." Edna scoffed as she led the four into her large extravagant living room. "I don't design suits for people who can't control their emotions thus they cannot control their powers

"Excuse me…" Ellie Mae butted in. "I can control them…"

"Oh, pish posh darling you can't even show them to me now…"

"With a little encouragement, I think that her powers will be in handy…" Violet tried to keep the peace and Edna decided to back down.

"Is there anything heavy outside to lift…" Bob asked.

Then Helen, Bob, Violet. Ellie Mae and Edna walked outside and they spotted a statue nearby

"See that statue, Ellie…I want you to lift it with your powers…" Bob told the mixed girl.

Ellie Mae exhaled and extended her right arm out to telekinetically move the statue out of its place. After a few minutes of trying, Ellie Mae stopped to catch her breath.

"I can't…I can't do it…" Ellie Mae panted.

"Hey you can do this…the other night we saw you cause a power outage and causing a wave back at that jazz club…" Bob helped her up

"Yeah…" Ellie Mae muttered. Then Helen decided to step in

"Your adoptive parents blamed you for something that you didn't do and it made you angry…" Helen told her warmly

"Now concentrate on that, not the statue and not its weight…" Bob told her.

Ellie Mae then turned back to the statue outside. She extended her arm out and began to try again

"I want to find something in your life that makes you angry…" Bob instructed.

A thought went in Ellie Mae's head

One time she walked in and saw Zoey getting spanked by Jane for accidentally dropping a vase in front of the band.

"Now focus on it…" Bob told her.

Then the statue began to rumble, shocking Edna and Violet

"Fascinating…" Edna started

"She's doing it…" Violet smiled.

Ellie Mae deeply focused on the statue as it began to slowly move towards her

"Dig deeper...Your whole life you've been beaten down…" Bob told her.

Many flashbacks of Luther hitting her came into her head, He slapped her at the point of knocking her down. Then she remembered his words

"Now you're just a lonely poor, ugly little orphan...You have nothing left...You're just like them poor folks now…"

Then the statue began to slowly move towards them

"You've been lied to…" Bob continued

Another flashback came into Ellie Mae's head

Ellie Mae was in bed and Luther was at the bedside.

"Where are Mama and Daddy's stuff…"

"They are all gone...I told you you have nothing left...Everything's burnt up…"

Then the statue moved closer and closer

"You've been manipulated…" Bob said in Ellie Mae's ear

Luther's voice came in the young girl's head again.

"If it wasn't for you my daughter would still be here…"

The statue moved closer and closer to them.

"They took everything away from you...Zoey...Your happiness...even your parents...They stole your life, Ellie…"

Then Edna went closer to Ellie Mae and saw her left blue eye was glowing. Then Ellie Mae began to scream, using every ounce of power she had and the statue was nearby them. Then the teenager collapsed on the ground.

"Oh my lord...what else can this child do?" Edna asked, fascinated

When Ellie Mae moved the statue back and the others went inside, She showed Edna her flying abilities. Then Helen helped her with the next one.

"I know things have been tough on you for the past few days but try your best to think of something happy…"

Ellie Mae sat down in front of Edna and closed her eyes. Then a giggle was heard again and showed Edna a few happy memories. One of them was her and her parents playing on the swing, another one was comforting Zoey during a thunderstorm, and the final one was of the bandmates teaching her how to play the piano. Then Ellie Mae open her eyes to a shocked Edna

"YES…" Edna threw her arms out. "That's all I needed to see..the work begins"

Then a few hours later, Edna presented a red and blue super suit for Ellie Mae.

"I already took your measurements, and it should make you more snug and comfortable…"

"Thank you, Ms. Edna…" Ellie Mae went into the next room to try it on

"I'll help you, Ellie…" Violet followed.

A few minutes later, Ellie Mae managed to get the suit on.

"Alright come on out Ellie…" Helen called. Then Ellie Mae slowly came out in the suit. She looked down at her dark blue gloves, down to her red boots

"Wow...it's amazing E…" Bob turned to the unamused Edna.

"Something's not right with it…" Bob turned to her.

"What do you mean...you designed it…." Bob pointed out.

"Yes Robert, I know I designed it...the suit is fine... but there's something about her not sitting right with it."

Ellie Mae tilted her head, wondering what could be wrong. Then Edna pointed to her hair, making the young teen pull one of her blonde curls down and she sighed through her nose.

"Honey...is the blonde hair real?" Helen asked politely, yet cringing at the same time.

"No it isn't, Jane made me bleach it every 3 months so I could look like them...it started when I was 8...then I just got used to it...I hate it…"

"Ugh, finally we agree on something….You need a haircut...come back in a few hours while I make some modifications to your suit and now you'll be...You need a superhero name...You shall think about it while you get a haircut…"

Then, when the Parr family took Ellie Mae to the hair salon, one stylist recognized her.

"Ellie Mae...Where's Jane...She's not with you…" the red-haired stylist asked.

"No...it's complicated right now…" Ellie Mae looked down at her sneakers

"Let me guess, monthly bleaching…" the stylist blandly asked.

"No...I just want a haircut and I want to have my black hair color back…"

"Finally something different…Come along…"

By the time they were finished, Ellie Mae now had very short curly black hair. It didn't touch her shoulders, but it was more of a pixie cut. She was shocked but she loved it nonetheless.

When they got back to Edna's house, the suit looked much prettier than before. The red and blue features were still on it and it had the initials SB on it.

"When you showed me the illusion with you and your father I got a little inspired to put SB on it to represent Southern Belle…"

Ellie Mae gasped. She could have her childhood nickname be her superhero name. She stared at the suit in awe and then back at Edna

"What...Why are you staring at me like that-" then Ellie Mae threw herself onto Edna for a hug and then the girl sniffled.

"Thank you so much, Ms. Edna...My daddy would've loved this…"

Aghast by the hug, Edna began to slowly smile and gave into it.

"I don't have much...How much do I…"

"Oh pish posh darling, this one is for free...Now go and be a hero...Southern Belle…" Edna said as Bob, Helen, Violet, and Ellie Mae leave the mansion.
