It's been four days since their camping trip and both Lahote twins have been in a bit of a bad mood as they got themselves back on their school and work schedule, though Bella has been more or less moodier than her brother. Of course there were a lot of questions about what happened to her face, but Bella was pretty quick to tell a joke or something instead of being rude about it.

Despite her best attempts not to be such a lesbian, all Bella could think about was Katrina Denali. If there wasn't anything else on Bella's mind it was here and it's only been two freaking days. It didn't help that Bella wasn't feeling so great either, nothing to do with her accident over the weekend—it was mostly her chest sometimes, it ached randomly but it was mostly tolerable, especially if she just took some Tylenol. She kept a bottle of the extra-strength in her backpack front pocket for easy access.

Avoiding the thoughts of the blonde was a little difficult though since they messaged each other everyday, talking about anything and everything. There were a few red-flags that kept flashing at Bella but once again, she was in favor of ignoring them. She'd yet to see Kate again, but given how many times the other woman hinted at them hanging out sometime soon in the city—Bella knew that it would be soon.

"What time is your shift over?" Charlie looked at her when he had finished buckling his work belt and placed his gun in his holster. The TV was playing in the background from the living room where Seth and Sue were. Bella last Leah in the bathroom in the mirror doing god knows what and why, and Paul was out doing Paul things. Bella didn't know or ask. She was willing to put twenty bucks that he was with Rosalie—after this weekend, it seemed like those two came to an understanding. Bella was happy for him—he had another babysitter.

"Ten...like always." she couldn't help but add on, but she made a point to not to look at the man and was focusing on putting on her shoes, "I won't be home until eleven...I'm gonna work out. Unless you need me here?"

"No, that's good...just be safe coming in, winter is coming and sometimes the roads can be a little sleek down here. You have snow tires on that thing, right?"

Bella looked at him then, a little unnerved by his concern...she knew the man was still her father, but it still caught her off guard, "Um...yeah."

He cleared his throat and nodded, walking past her quietly to the living room to say his goodbyes to his wife and step-son. Bella broke out of it and left, she'd tie her shoes later. The minute she stepped outside though, she immediately shivered. Just when she thought Forks couldn't get any fucking worse...it got colder.

"Son of a bitch." Bella shivered as she slid into her car, the leather seats weren't helping at all. When she started her car, even she flinched at the sharp cold start and just prayed that Charlie wouldn't come outside hollering about her and those damn exhaust pipes.

Once she felt warm enough to move, and of course the minute she enters town her gas light comes on. She still had time to get to work if she stopped, and she'd rather stop now than in the middle of the night. She could still get food at the gas station, or at least some good snacks or something. Mrs. Cullen assured her that she didn't mind them snacking at the front desk, and if they were working nights she didn't mind them eating a meal as long as they cleaned after themselves and that it was slow.

Bella had just set the gas pump and threw the plastic bag full of snacks into the passengers seat when a familiar rusty red truck pulled up to the pump behind hers. Bella frowned, getting a dreadful sense of deja vu. Those gas numbers just weren't moving fast enough for her. Much to her relief, someone else stepped out of the drivers side but there was a striking resemblance there. He was tall and apparently immune to the cold because all he was wearing were a pair of cargo shorts, slides and a t-shirt. He had short dark hair and even darker eyes. And he was looking at her just as hard as she was looking at him.

There was something about him that set Bella on edge...she suddenly had a primal urge to literally just attack him—Bella felt the need to sink her teeth into his flesh and assert her dominance over him. That image was enough to startle herself out of her stare down with him. Bella wasn't scared of a good street fight but she'd never wanted to just...decimate someone like that. She'd be in prison with her mom if she acted on those thoughts. What the hell?

She'd have to stop coming to this damn gas station.

Click.

When she glanced at him, he was staring back at her...more like glaring, Bella made a low sound that sounded like a growl. He blinked owlishly at her though Bella was already in the car when the passenger of the truck got out. Bella cranked her engine, revved it and took off. That was beyond weird and the next time one of those res idiots looked at her funny she was swinging first and taking names later.

Once Bella was on the lonely road leading towards the gym, Bella quickly pulled over and opened her car door as fast as she could before she puked in her own lap—the nausea hit Bella like a freight train and it was everything she could do to stop her car. Her seat belt threatened to choke her if she didn't unbuckle the damn thing soon.

When she finally did, Bella weakly caught herself before she fell out of her car and face first into her own mess. Her phone buzzed in the cup holder and she saw that it was Alice calling but Bella just couldn't bring herself to answer—she couldn't handle the energy that was Alice right now. Thankfully the buzzing stopped and it seemed that her stomach began to settle...until her phone rattled around in the holder again, this time it was Kate calling. Bella groaned, feeling another surge. "Fu—"

From the treeline, a redhead stood just out of view watching with worried dark red eyes. Renee was correct...her youngest was ascending first and quite quickly. Even from afar, Victoria could see that Bella's eyes were brighter than they were before—so light they could've been glowing. Her eyes shifting colors was a sign already and that's been happening on and off for the past couple of weeks...the vomiting was another sign, a surer sign. Bella's body was starting the process of change.

Victoria knew that Renee wouldn't be pleased hearing this. Bella managed to drag her weak body of our her car and made it to the other side before she spilled her guts in the ditch this time. Victoria stayed and observed, despite her urge to go over and comfort the girl—to assure her that no...it wasn't 'bitch ass cancer' that was sneaking up on her, just as her heritage. For seventeen years, Victoria has been with the Lahote family—shadowing the twins when their mother was away. They'd only met her on a few occasions that Victoria had to step out of the shadows but Renee wanted to keep her appearances short and sweet.

Renee did right by her kids, all the time—except tell them of their heritage. Renee prepared for her possible arrest years ago, but not at the apex of Bella and Paul coming into their own. Truly horrible timing. Horrible retching had Victoria breaking through her hesitation and moving across the street towards the distressed teen. She'd deal with the consequences later from Renee and the Volturi Queens later.

Victoria quickly gathered the half conscious girl in her arms and put her in the passengers seat, shoving everything else onto the floor. Victoria could hear her stomach gurgle something mean as she ran around the car and slipped into the drivers seat, stepping over the nasty pile. Putting Bella's beast into gear, Victoria smirked—she always wanted to drive this car.

Lahote Manor...(that no one knows about yet)

Victoria nearly kicked the side door off the hinges when she ran into the house after parking Bella's car in the garage and shutting off her phone. The redhead made a beeline for the master bedroom and she carefully set Bella down on the bed, now fully unconscious and breaking out into a cold sweat. Victoria turned on the water as fast as the faucet could run. Using vampire speed, she went to collect Bella and carefully undressed her down to her underwear before setting her down in the cold water. Victoria kept the water going until Bella was fully submerged.

Her natural abilities would make it impossible for her to drown, conscious or not. Victoria's seen it before from a childhood accident, but still she wasn't going to leave the room. The sat down on the counter so that she could have a better view in case something else happened and pulled out her phone to make a few calls. The first to the Volturi Queens...and to Bella's mother. Victoria wasn't sure which call made her more nervous.

Short chapter...kinda wanted to add it to the last one, then changed my mind lmao anyway yeah, Bella is coming into her own...too bad evolution is so damn dramatic
