Chapter 7

March 21, 2006

"Bella I saw Alice's car as I was-" Charlie stopped dead at seeing Edward. His hand twitched towards his gun belt but it didn't grasp onto one. Jacob was right behind Charlie eyes narrowed and tense. He spotted me and came to stand next to me slinging an arm around my waist. He bent close to my ear and asked.

"When did they get here?" I turned my head just a little and spoke quietly

"Just a few minutes ago." He tugged me closer which I didn't mind at all letting the anger and little bit of fear drain away.

"Get out, you are not allowed to step a foot past this door." Charlie rumbled looking directly at Edward. Edward turned whispered something to Bella then left with Alice. Bella stood in front of Charlie with Jake and me off to the side watching.

"You lied to me Bells, why is he back, is he here to see what he did to you?" She shook her head

"No Dad, I, we met him coming back from our trip." She looked away, she couldn't lie to save herself.

"And now your lying to me. I'm done Bells your grounded for the next month and I don't want you seeing Edward or any of the other Cullens since apparently they're back now. I don't understand what's going on so until you tell me I can't trust you." Charlie looked pained, frustrated, and angry. Bella was shocked, angry tears started falling and she stomped up the stairs to her room. Charlie wiped a hand down his face and sighed heavily. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at us.

"If you treat Marra the way Edward treats Bella I will not hesitate in kicking your ass out of this house, and out of Forks." He gazed at Jacob steady and hard.

"Yes sir, I mean no sir I won't do that to Marra I promise."

"Good, see that you remember that. Now I have to go to work, Marra can you keep an eye and an ear on Bella." I nodded and decided Charlie needed a hug. I left Jacob's side and wrapped my arms around Charlie.

"Your a good Dad, even if she deans't see it right now." He hugged me back then let me go.

"Thanks that was not easy." He left shaking his head. I took Jacob's hand and led him downstairs. This was his first time seeing where I lived.

"Nice digs Mar, so that was interesting." I flopped on the couch Jacob following, we cuddled together limbs tangled.

"Yeah, I've never seen Charlie so angry. I don't understand Bella at all, she's like the moth whose attracted to the light, she gets zapped but then comes back for more. I mentally screamed at Edward, I had a lighter in my packet and wanted to light him on fire." I had kept one there since Jacob had told me they could burn.

"Yeah I saw his face he was pissed, I think he got it from sides with how much Charlie loathes him right now, plus me, plus you. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now." My head was on his chest and I could hear his heart beating.

"Right, I'm just glad Charlie was here else I probably would have hit him and sprained my hand." He kissed the hand closest to him tenderly.

"That would have been a shame, then you couldn't make me more chocolate chip cookies."

"Your nose could pick up that? I made them hours ago." He chuckled which had me smiling feeling his chest rise.

"Yes, but I saw the plate containing them when we came down so it was obvious." I lightly smacked his chest.

"Smart ass." We both laughed and he held me close. We shared a comfortable silence that had me closing my eyes and falling asleep.

I woke a while later my nose pressed into Jacob's chest. I was warm and comfortable so I was very tempted to stay there. The thing that had woke me was Jacob's hand running through my hair and him kissing the top of my head.

"Evening sleeping beauty." He rumbled his voice low.

"How long did I sleep?" I wriggled a little trying to see his face.

"About two hours, let me get detailed because if you keep that up things will get very interesting very fast." He untangled us and sat up a little.

"Interesting can be fun but don't you have a patrol?"

"I filled in Sam wall you were sleeping and he gave me the night off. I'm going to be doing morning patrols from now on so I can stay nearby at night. I don't trust the Cullens around you or Bella, but mostly you. So if you don't mind I'm going to stay for dinner then do a bit of patrolling around the house, then go home." I kissed his jaw nipping at it a little feeling playful.

"Sure though dinner would mostly be me and you if you don't mind." His gaze heated a little.

"No that's fine with me." He leaned over pressing me into the couch making my breath hitch a little. His lips hovered over mine but not quite touching. His eyes caught mine and I felt lost as I looked into them. Then he kissed me, so light and so soft that I didn't really know if we were kissing or not. It was all in his eyes though, the liking, the heat, the tenderness. It tore me apart how intense he was, then something bubbled up within me and in a moment I had somehow flipped us and I was straddling him matching him for intensity. My lips hovered inches away from his and something inside me reveled at this. Then I crashed my lips with his and it blew me away. I broke it off and panted lightly.

"Hells bells Mar that was something." I kew he didn't mean the kiss. I laughed a little trying to defuse the tension.

"Yeah you can say that again, though you started it." He snorted.

"No you did with that first kiss so I blame you." Needing to bleed some of the energy off I slid into my feet.

"How about this if you can take me down using the Judo moves I taught you in sixth grade I'll say it was my fault." He gained and jumped to his feet.

"Start apologizing then." I went to where I had practiced earlier and waited. We nodded to each other then started. He rushed me but I stepped to the side, he tried a few more leg trips and a one handed shoulder throw but I evaded him. Unfortunately I got distracted by my stomach rumbling and he caught me with the two hand shoulder throw.

"I let you win." I protested on the ground. He was crouching one hand on my stomach the other on the ground beside me.

"Yeah sure, now say it." I grumbled but after he tickled me a bit I admitted breathlessly.

"Okay fine fine I started it, now happy?" He shook his head.

"Nope I have to claim my prize." He bent down but at the last second bounded up and went to the plate of cookies.

"You had me going there you tease." I grumped as I stood brushing myself off. He turn a cooking in each hand and munching on one. He winked then finished chewing.

"I can't help it if I like your cooking." He stuck another cooking in his mouth and closed his eyes a blissed out expression on his face.

"Flattery will get you everywhere, and eating cooking will get you high on sugar." He snorted and at the third one.

"My metabolism will barely notice it. So what's for dinner." I pulled out my phone and called the local pizza place. I got five pizzas, two things of breadsticks, two liters of coke and Pepsi for me. They said it would be there in about thirty minutes.

"I'm surprised I thought you would pull out a casserole or something." I snickered.

"No thats for tomorrow. I want pizza and I mostly want to cuddle with you and watch movie while eating pizza."

"I'm down with that. What do you want to watch?"

"I have Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, have you seen it?

"Sure I watched the third one just after I changed for the first time and laughed at what they called a werewolf." I snorted remembering wolfy Remus. So I popped it in and we watched the first half before Jake heard the pizza guy show up. We brought the pizza leaving Charlie the meat lovers upstairs. I changed into pjs as Jacob got paper plates from upstairs. So I got a normal night with my boyfriend. We cuddled and watched Harry battle Voldemort and cry over Cedric's corps. I think I dozed during the end credits because the next thing I knew Jake was carrying me to bed. I woke as he was transporting me and felt safe and warm cradled against his chest.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you carry me to bed." I said sleepily.

"Its okay after I picked you up I realized I didn't know which room was yours." I laughed

"Its the second of the two." I waved my hand woozily still muzzy headed. He slowly walked to my room then nudging the door open with a toe. He tugged the blankets down with one long arm then set me on my bed softly. He pulled the covers over me and kissed my forehead.

"Do you want me to stay until you sleep, or will you be okay?" In answer I tugged him down and he laid next to me his heat coming through the blanket. I snuggled into him and fell asleep to him combing his fingers through my hair.

I woke some time later, it was dark and the clock read ten twenty two. I heard something my ears aching. It was Edward talking to Bella, my head ached painfully. I stood and went to the medicine drawer and pulled out some Tylenol. I took it but could still hear their voices. I went outside toeing on sandals though it was cold. I walked around the outside of the house looking to see if they were out here. Bella had a light on in her bedroom and when I stepped closer someone jumped out of it and onto the ground in front of me. It was Edward and he was crouched and hissing menacingly. I backed away angry and afraid. Pain lanced through my body as Edward to a threatening step towards me. I bit back a yelp and felt myself start to tremble as anger, and fear mounted. Edward stopped coming towards me but still was in a crouch ready to spring at me. I shook now fists clenched by my side he disobeyed Charlie and had come back. I was panting in anger but the fear started turning inward as I shook harder not understanding what was going on. Edward took a less threatening step forward I put my hand out in a stop gesture and it was shaking like a leaf in a gale.

Another lance of pure pain went through me but it didn't end just looping over and over. I was on my hands and knees groaning when it happened. Something in me snapped like a stung rubber band being cut a backlash spread through me and I felt myself shifting. It was surprisingly painless compared to moments before. I felt my legs and arms shift and my torso lengthen as did my face.. My eyes were closed and I didn't want to open them not wanting to see what had happened to me. I shivered with the last few tremors that slid through me. Finally though with everything silent around me I had to. Edward was standing stock still eyes wide. I looked up and saw Bella gaping from her open window. Then I saw what I had become in the glass of one of the dark downstairs windows that reflected my image back to me. I ran not looking back crashing into the forest hoping to get the image of what I had turned into out of my mind.
