Ricochet Kaiju vs Flying Type Godzilla Subspecies

Three black holes opened in the sky of a future earth, out of each hole slithered a golden serpent that would sink Its fangs into the planet's ruler.

As the untouchable serpents attacked, insignificant flying creatures were startled from their resting places. These creatures were the progeny of the planet's King, but none of them bore his strength. They were of no concern to the serpents.

Nevertheless one of the creatures, absolutely miniscule in comparison, would make an attempt to attack one of the serpents, flying to the hole where it emerged. But once it was close the dimensional tide began to pull it in.

The flying creature disappeared without a trace. Gone completely unnoticed by either the serpents and the planet's ruler.

In the year twenty-thirty of a different Japan a massive reptile covered in armored plating and rows of forward facing spikes emerged from a forest into a grassy hillside.

The ankylosaur-like monster, crowned with a row of five horns, stood tall on four trunk-like legs. A small nasal horn sat at the end of his snout, and his tail ended in a spiked club. His less armored stomach was lined with red ventral scales.

Anguirus

Ricochet Kaiju

At the field border Anguirus came across a group of humans in orange hazard gear, one of which panicked and hastily fired a round at his shell. A loud clank reverberated throughout the field.

With no time to waste, the squad piled into their truck and took off in hopes of luring the monster well out into the open.

Anguirus gave chase, bounding at full speed. Curiosity compelled him to follow the vehicle speeding away from him. What would he do when he caught up? Not even he knew.

Another truck came into view, on the back of it was an old man, holding onto what looked like a large mounted harpoon gun.

This one drove straight towards Anguirus, allowing the search party to flee as the kaiju switched targets.

Suddenly the truck swerved, and fired the harpoon off at Anguirus. Anguirus' scales glowed a spectrum of colors as the projectile clanked off his precognitive shield. The force of the impact knocked Anguirus off balance, momentarily forcing him to the ground.

Anguirus got back onto his feet, and noticed the man had fallen off when the harpoon fired, and was now meters in front of him. He faced towards the old man and growled, but before he could do anything a small vaguely humanoid mech put itself in-between them, letting the old man escape.

The mech had a small angular head with a permanent grin, and blue eyes that gave off a dull glow. Its disproportionately wide midsection balanced on three yellow legs that ended in wheels, and two antennae stuck out from its back. Anguirus was unsure of what to make of the thing.

Jet Jaguar Prototype

Electronic Robot

Jet Jaguar's pilot began boasting, as the mech cracked its neck before smashing its two claws together. The boasts fell on deaf ears. Anguirus had no concept of the language, but there was one thing Anguirus felt certain of, it clearly wanted a challenge.

Jet Jaguar suddenly rushed forward and struck Anguirus in the head. Even without the precognitive shield the machine's claws weren't doing any damage, but Anguirus pushed back regardless and played along with the little battle.

Anguirus head-butted the miniature mech away, knocking it back a couple meters. Jet Jaguar landed on Its wheels, and rushed forward once more, claws extended, only to be knocked to the ground by Anguirus' tail.

Jet Jaguar tried to push itself up, but Anguirus pounced on the robot's back, pinning it under his foot.

After a moment Jet Jaguar stopped moving. Anguirus rolled the mech over, and began curiously batting it around like a housecat would a ball of yarn.

While Anguirus distracted himself with the downed mech, something bizarre happened. A distance away a bright light suddenly appeared, only to disappear just as quickly, leaving behind an unknown organism.

The organism resembled a Wyvern with a long neck, jagged teeth, a barbed tail, and an additional set of small arms. But its most striking features were its metallic blue skin and a myriad of small, red spider-like eyes.

Servum

Flying Type Godzilla Subspecies

After shaking off its disorientation the servum turned Its attention towards a nearby pair of humans. Driven by instinct, the servum took to the air and descended upon them.

The humans attempted to flee but the servum flew far more quickly than they could run. Anguirus looked on in confusion as the servum swallowed the white haired human whole.

This creature wasn't just new to Anguirus, it was completely alien. It had completely enraptured the armored kaiju's attention. Anguirus approached with reckless abandon, immediately gaining the servum's attention.

The servum turned towards Anguirus and let out an aggressive roar before rushing forward on Its legs. It was even quicker in a dash than it was in flight.

The clear hostility did not register to Anguirus, who maintained speed even as collision became imminent.

Just as the two kaiju were about to make impact, the servum bit down on Anguirus' snout, clamping it shut. Razor sharp teeth punctured through armored skin.

Anguirus quickly shook the servum off, before it could sink it's teeth any deeper, but blood had already been drawn, and one of the servum's fangs remained lodged inside.

The servum hissed as it landed on Its feet. Anguirus was now fully aware of the aerial predator's intentions.

The servum lunged for the throat, only for Anguirus to ram his horns into its side and toss it away. The servum was flung meters across the ground, but sustained no visible damage.

Anguirus gave a threatening roar as the servum pushed itself back up, only for the servum to bellow back in defiance.

The servum reared back to make its next move, but before it could take action it was blindsided by Jet Jaguar. The prototype mech tackled the approximate species with enough force to bring it back to the ground and began bashing its claws down on it.

The initial shock of being thrown off balance aside, Jet Jaguar's attacks did nothing more than irritate the servum, which tossed the mech off using it's wing.

Jet Jaguar rushed back for a punch, but the servum caught the metal claw in it's mouth and crushed it with ease. The servum then spat out the scrap and pounced the robot, knocking it onto its back with the servum perched on top.

Anguirus watched as the servum's claws carved through Jet Jaguar's chassis like a hot knife through butter, before the servum jabbed its head inside and tore the old man out.

After finishing its snack the servum turned its attention back to Anguirus, and took to the air, gaining altitude before diving talons first towards its enemy.

Anguirus raised his tail and braced his limbs in preparation for the attack. Just as the servum was about to connect with Anguirus' shell he swung his club and bashed it into the ground. Anguirus wasted no time stomping the servum, placing his weight onto the creature's long neck.

Military jeeps drove onto the scene, opening fire at both monsters. The bullets ricocheted off of Anguirus' precognitive shield, and harmless clanked off of the servum's asymmetrically permeable shield. Anguirus took some attention off of the servum under his foot to bounce the bullets back at their source. The vehicles retreated upon taking their own fire, and in the commotion Anguirus did not notice the servum shifting its position under him.

Just as the precognitive shield faded the servum whipped its tail at Anguirus' leg, piercing it with several spikes. Anguirus jumped back in shock and the servum lunged Its body forward, nearly landing a bite to the underside of his neck.

Anguirus lowered his head and rammed into the servum before tossing it back, before charging.

Instead of attempting another head on clash the servum took back to the air and flew over Anguirus. Anguirus skidded to a halt and turned to see the servum land twenty meters away, facing him.

Anguirus felt hesitant to approach, like he'd be running straight into a trap.

The servum's small back spines began to glow a faint blue with Cherenkov radiation and crackled with electricity. Anguirus began to back away. A halo of electrical particles coalesced and collapsed in front of the servum's snout, firing a devastating beam of radiation in Anguirus' direction.

Anguirus lowered his body to the ground, and narrowly avoided the blast. The Ankylosaur-like kaiju looked behind himself to see meters upon meters of grassland had been reduced to smoldering chunks.

Anguirus turned back towards the servum and something seemed off with it, its jaw hung open almost as if it was panting and both its wings and tail drooped towards the ground. Anguirus quickly came to the realization that the servum couldn't fire its atomic breath multiple times in quick succession, and promptly charged forward.

The servum waited for Anguirus to get closer, just as he got within a few meters the servum flapped its wings and took to the air. Anguirus slid to a halt and turned to see the servum soaring a distance away.

Anguirus stood tall and roared at the airborne foe, who'd soon make a U-turn and plant its feet on the asphalt just past the field's border.

Anguirus dashed at the servum once more. As the servum began to charge its atomic breath, so did Anguirus with his precognitive shield.

The servum's electromagnetic energy reached its peak, and a beam just as devastating as the first fired off at the charging Anguirus, but instead of blowing the precognitive kaiju to pieces the atomic breath was deflected back in the servum's direction.

The recoil was like nothing Anguirus had ever felt, like every cell in his body received had been struck at once. But through his blurry vision he saw that the servum was far worse for wear; its entire wing was disconnected from its body.

The deflected atomic breath cut straight through the creature's asymmetrically permeable shield and severed the limb right at its base.

While most creatures would collapse and die from such a grievous injury, the servum continued standing, eyes locked on the downed Anguirus. It would require food to assist regeneration.

The servum's now uneven weight did nothing to slow it down as it made a mad dash towards its prey. Anguirus was still recovering from the shock of the recoil, and struggled to get up just as the servum pounced onto his back and bit one of his most prominent spikes clean off.

Anguirus flailed, tossing the servum off of himself. The predator landed on its feet and swallowed the spike it had torn off.

Anguirus bashed his tail's club against the servum's wounded side. Unlike the earlier attempt, the servum's hide dented. The force that was protecting it was either gone or severely weakened.

Despite the additional body trauma, the servum still began rising to its feet. Anguirus bashed the servum down again, creating a depression in the pavement. Anguirus was no longer playing and no longer taking any chances, he'd smash this threat into a pulp before he let it get back up.

Anguirus struck down once more, but this time the servum sunk its teeth into his tail, just above the base of his club. Anguirus whipped his tail wildly, bashing the servum onto the ground to loosen its grip, before finally tossing the creature away.

Anguirus' club had almost been completely severed.

The servum landed, and immediately charged back towards Anguirus, letting its prey drive take complete control. Anguirus' precognitive shield flared and he charged as well.

Anguirus hurtled into the servum full force, sweeping it along like an insect on a servum couldn't escape, so it clawed at Anguirus' face as its back spines surged with electricity.

Anguirus continued forward undeterred, even as he advanced towards a precipice at the end of the driveway. Both monsters smashed through the barricade at the end, falling twenty meters onto solid concrete.

Both Kaiju laid motionless at the bottom. The servum's torso had been impaled and flattened under Anguirus, and Anguirus himself sustained a half caved in shell from the fall.

After some time news crews arrived to document the seemingly dead monsters.

"How's this shot look?" The middle aged reporter asked. "Don't forget to make sure to shoot from-" As the reporter and his crew droned on irreverently, Anguirus began to twitch.

"No need to fit both monsters in the photo, the important thing is me." The reporter continued on, oblivious to the fact that Anguirus had opened his eyes. "After all it was the government and the private sector working together that lured the two to attack each other. It's a cause for celebration."

The reporter's camera crew, along with the small crowd of civilians that had gathered began to flee. The reporter slowly turned to see Anguirus rise to his feet, and fell on his rear in shock.

The precognitive kaiju paid no mind to the dumbfounded human. He limped over to the servum's corpse, bit into its neck, and began dragging it off into the cover of the treeline.

"Reports of Anguirus sightings have become scarce after the battle. Perhaps it has become more cautious after the negative encounter, or perhaps it's simply healing his wounds far from the human eye." A female news anchor reported. "Regardless, we will continue to update as information becomes available."

"Missing persons cases have increased in the area."

"Empty vehicles have been discovered, mangled with unknown claw marks."

Horizontal gene transfer, the process in which an organism can gain the traits of another organism within its lifetime through the movement of genetic material other than transmissions of DNA from parent to offspring. This is how Anguirus and the servum came into existence.

With the increasingly concerning reports, the Japanese defense force had been dispatched to investigate before any full scale assault could be launched.

The group stumbled upon a clearing of trees slashed beyond recognition deep into the Forest.

"Do you think Anguirus is responsible for all of this?" One team member asked.

"No, it couldn't be." Another replied. "Maybe there's more of those flying things."

The two agents were promptly shushed by a third in the forefront. They continued forward silently. It wasn't long before they came across something strange. It looked like a massive, round cactus from where they stood.

The front runner gestured for the rest of the squad to stay put as he stepped closer to investigate. He was so focused on what was in front of him that he hadn't noticed the clusters of odd bluish plants at his feet.

The man's foot brushed past one of the plants, and its leaf sliced clean through his military grade boot, lacerating the man's foot. He yelled out in shock and pain, before throwing his hands over his mouth.

A spiny tail ending in a spike club swung out from the bottom of the "cactus," then it began to rise onto trunk-like legs. What looked like a cactus was actually a spiked carapace.

A head adorned with a crown of spikes turned to face the defense force. Terrified faces reflected in the dozen red spider-like eyes that dotted the creature's face as it opened its main pair.

"The monster is growing."

This has been a battle between a monster from the best piece of Godzilla media in all of the Reiwa era, and the other one from Singular Point.

For all of its flaws, Godzilla: Singular Point has some very unique, creative, and well designed Kaiju. I'm especially fond of their versions of Anguirus and Manda.

Once I saw this version of Anguirus in action I knew I had to write about him, the first issue was figuring out a Kaiju that scaled well with him. After some deliberation I decided on servum because not only do their sizes align well, but both have a form of protective shield, and I get to reference Godzilla Raids Again, because it's Anguirus fighting a subspecies of Godzilla.

My second issue was altering Anguirus' pronouns when I found out that the subtitles referring to him as she were a mistranslation.

My third issue was more self imposed. I wanted to try writing the story from Anguirus' point of view after the intro. I got about a fourth of the way through, hated it, and then redid all of the narration from a third person perspective.

What do you think the hybrid should be called? I've been considering Anguirus Erthys.
