Heyo. I remembered this fanfiction existed and wanted to continue it! I forgot how much I liked writing on it.
Chapter 12
Alex
The pink jumpsuit wasn't exactly flattering, but after the bullfighting outfit in Saint-Pierre and a parody of a disabled person, being in different "costumes" was much less embarrassing. Honestly, I was still wondering where the bonnet was.
After dinner, we got the demonstration that Dr. Hatch promised. The shaded window behind him cleared and a giant pit of glowing lava appeared. It was gorgeous, like fire flickering in a pit. Me and the other kids there were forced at gunpoint to get closer to the glass so we could see that the lava beneath us was really millions of living, writhing rats.
"Charming," I said carefully.
Quickly, I checked to see the others' reactions. The one they called Michael looked rather uncomfortable, but I had a feeling that he had seen this before. I turned my head to see the massive bowl of rats again. A bull had been pushed through some sort of flap. It slid down and landed in the pile of rats with an inaudible "Moo!". The rats tore through it like wind ripping a covering off a tent.
Before we knew it, the entire thing was simply a pile of pristine bones, picked clean. They fell through the floor and into some sort of disposable system. I looked back at the Dr. Three. He looked about as impressed as I was: not very.
"Cool," I said in my most bored tone. "They really e-rat-icated that bull."
The one called Dr. Hatch turned to look at me in disbelief. I suppose this was the first time he had failed to impress someone with that.
"You will find this much less amusing when it's a person in there," one of his kids spat at me. "Can you imagine the pain? The Horror?"
I shrugged, keeping a keen eye on everyone there. There might be a good opportunity to escape.
"I've been through worse," I replied before shifting slightly in my chair.
Michael looked at me with concerned eyes, unsure of what to say. It was clear that he was a leader of some sort, but he didn't seem to radiate command or even try to act like he knew what he was doing.
"Well…" I yawned. "Was that all you were going to do?"
"Indeed," Dr. Three rose from the table. "I think the time has come for me and Mr. Rider to have a conversation."
"Me? I feel so special," I flashed a smile before looking at the other kids present. I was going to need their help if what I was going to do next was going to work.
I was grabbed by one of the guards and led out with the rest. I gave a small discrete smile.
Yall can expect some more updates now. I honestly love these characters!
