"You can't sleep?"
"No." She rolls over to face him and he turns on his side to face her. They're staying in a hotel in New York while the team tracks down Cipher. They were able to find her in the state and they're waiting on her to make her next move.
"The plane noise getting to you?"
"Just thinking about all the adventures we've been on. The life we lived before. I just remember things being dark until."
"Until what?"
"Til you came back. It's all bits of pieces but from the time you died till we found you, I remember being sad all the time. Part of me was missing for a long time."
"Mia would say part of died when I was gone. You risked getting caught by the feds just to avenge my death, well my almost death. I still don't know what to call it."
"Tell me about the day we met."
"Well it was back in '99. I had tagged along with some friends to a street race. You were the hotshot that everybody was scared of racing. I came up to you wanting next and you thought I was just a girl who was meant to just watch on the sideline."
"I really said that?"
"Yeah and I proved you wrong. I almost beat you but you had to be a show off and tried to go full turbo and you wiped out right next to me."
"That sounds embarrassing."
"Yeah you felt real bad for almost taking out my arm. You came to see me the next day and you brought me over to the garage and that's how I ended up in the crew."
"Now that's a real cute story."
"Yeah. We don't really have the most normal love story but we've had some beautiful moments."
"Did you feel like this when you lost your memory?"
"I did. I felt like stranger in my own body. Part of me died and I was born the day of the accident."
"Because of me?"
"Dom I made the choice for us." She said sitting up. "If I didn't go you would have never came home. We wouldn't have what we have now, Jack and Sophia wouldn't be here, and Brian still would've been a cop. We can't change the past, we can only do better for the future."
"Is that what were doing right now?"
"Yeah we are. This whole thing has me thinking about how you felt when I lost my memories. How hurt you must have been, hoping that something would trigger a memory in my head. You never gave up on me and I'm not giving up on you." She says as she puts her hand on his cheek. He leans over and kisses her. She pushed back as she knew she would end up on her back and her clothes off. "Dom I don't want you to feel like you have to rush to remember."
"I know. I may not remember every part of my life but I know the best part of it is you and our daughter." He kisses her forehead and pulls her to him to lay on his chest. She laid her hand on his chest and felt his heartbeat.
The next morning, Dom wakes up to hear the shower running. He looks over and sees Letty's side of the bed empty. He sat up and looked at the cross necklace on the nightstand. He leaned over and held it in his hand. I flash goes off in his head.
"I love you Toretto."
"I love you Mrs. Toretto."
He saw himself kissing Letty at an alter in a church. She was wearing a dress and he was in a wife-beater. He held it tighter and he sees another flash.
He walks over to Letty as she's asleep in bed and he kneels down to her. He places the necklace on top of the stack of cash on the nightstand and kissed her on her forehead.
"I'm sorry. I gotta do this for us."
He opens his eyes, tears about to well up and he wipes them away. He turned his body where his legs now hanged on the side of the bed. He couldn't believe he had left Letty like that. He walked out on his wife instead of having faith that they could make it together. Letty walked out the bathroom in her bathrobe, drying her hair with a towel. She sees her husband with a look of despair.
"Dom what's wrong?"
"Letty I'm so sorry."
"For what?" She says as she walks up to him.
"For leaving you. I remember the night I left you in the DR. I left this like it didn't mean anything."
"Dom, it was a long time." She gets on his lap and holds his face in her hands. "You can't keep blaming yourself, you wanted to protect me."
"I didn't have faith in us. I was selfish and I didn't think of what it would do to you."
"You didn't know what I was going to do. I made that choice for us. You need to let go of the guilt baby." She hugs him and he simply cries in her shoulder. Letty held back her own tears as she let her husband weep in front of her. She has never seen him breakdown like this in front of anyone, not even her. The most she saw him cry in front of her was when his father died and when Sophia was born. She moves his head to where their foreheads are touching. "Dom I'm here. We're okay."
"I'm never leaving you again. You and Sophia are my whole world. I'll never put you both through that."
There's a knock at the door and she turns her head, holding her hand on the back of his neck.
"It's Mia."
"Give me a second." She yells at the door. "That's your sister. Go take a shower and clean yourself up okay. I'll go talk to her." She lifts herself off his lap and fixed her robe. Dom went into the bathroom as Letty opened the door. "Hey."
"Ramsey called me and told me where you guys were." She hugs her and Letty just embraced her. "You okay."
"No. I've been trying to keep it together but I can't."
"You wanna talk?"
"Yeah."
"Come on." Mia puts her arm under her shoulder as the walk downstairs. "Let's go to my room."
"Okay."
They walk into Mia's room two floors down. They sit on the end of the bed and pulled the pillows towards them. "How's Sophia?"
"She's great. Has no idea what's going on and in her own little
"How you doing?"
"Nursing a husband back to health while trying to keep up with a toddler is a lot."
"Been there, not the easiest job."
"It's a lot harder when you're pregnant."
"You're pregnant. Congratulations." She leans in and hugs her.
"Thank you."
"How far along are you?"
"Eight weeks today."
"I'm happy for you. I know you guys wanted to have a family after everything. Does Dom know?"
"I already told him. He was so excited. He loves being a dad to Sophia. Even though he doesn't remember, he's still able to bond with her. He loves that little girl."
"How's his memory been?"
"It's been bits and pieces coming back. He's been having bouts of guilt over what he's done."
"He hasn't always made the smartest decisions but it was always for us."
"Mia I found him crying this morning. He remembered leaving me in the DR and how I went undercover. I've only seen him cry like that when Sophia was born."
"He's always had the world on his shoulders. Always feeling like he has to save everybody."
"It's made me think about when I didn't have my memories. I kept thinking about being w burden and not being the woman he loved for years. Now I know how helpless he must have felt watching me go through all of it. I wish I could remind him of the last 20 years so easy but I can't. Part of him is still there but I miss him."
"Letty you're doing the best you can. All you can do is be there for him. You have the bits and pieces, you just need to put them together."
"I'm not giving up on him. Doesn't matter how long it takes, he's gonna come back to me."
