Hey guys, it's been a while since I last updated which i apologies for since starting this digital marketing apprenticeship i've been super busy creating a website and starting email campaigns etc... However, this chapter has been sat since the middle of July waiting to be posted and i've only finally just found the time. I have started writing the next chapter which i've wrote in my calendar to remind me to upload it over the weekend so you won't have long to wait for the next one I promise. Anyway, here's the next chapter.
(3:42pm) 29 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Pier Diner
Using the tongs to put some cakes in a takeaway box, Marilyn said: "Tony must be relieved, after all those dreadful weeks of worrying but at least Xavier is now home safe. I know John and myself are."
"Yeah." Matilda replied just as she heard her name being called.
"Hey Mattie." April said as both herself and Ruby walked into the Diner.
"We just heard about Lee and Mr Braeburn." Ruby told her "Talk about huge."
"I know." Matilda told them not really wanting to discuss the topic.
"I mean I feel sorry for Lee but it's good news about Lucas, right?" Ruby continued and April nodded in agreement.
"I suppose."
"We thought you would be stoked." April said knowing how much the thought of Lucas cheating on her while they were together had hurt her.
Sighing, Matilda said: "Well, I would be except Lucas still hates me. Probably more than he did before."
"Why?" April asked then continued "Is this what was going on earlier at the beach?"
"Because he thinks I'm a self-obsessed cow."
"He actually said that?" Both girls said in shock.
"To my face." Matilda replied just as Marilyn put the box down in front of her.
"Now, I've put in a chocolate chip muffin for Lucas, as I know they're his favourite." Marilyn informed the teen "Also some cream cakes for the rest of you. I bet this is to celebrate some good news eventually after weeks of bad news."
Matilda just glares at the box on the bench in front of her before catching the smiles on her friends' faces.
Continuing, Marilyn said: "I wouldn't want to eat all this yourself; you'd be the size of a house."
"Right, thanks." Matilda said not noticing the puzzled look shared between her two friends.
With that Marilyn went into the kitchen.
Picking up the box, Matilda said to her friends: "Look guys, I'll be ok. Like I said before I'm over Lucas and I'm really happy with Ric. What Lucas thinks of me really doesn't matter anymore."
Once she had finished speaking, the teen left the Pier Diner leaving her two friends confused about what was really going on.
Meanwhile…
Summer Bay – Leah and Dan's House – Living Room
"You know what, we should have just left him alone." Dan said as he watched Leah finish putting Peter's stuff back in the box.
"Yeah, well we didn't know he was going to steal Pete's car, did we?" Leah reminded her husband, as she walked out the room to go check the bedroom.
"Well, he's peeved about the will, and we know how thrilled he is about staying with us."
Walking back into the living room, Leah pointed out: "He's obviously planning on coming back because he's left his bag in there. He probably just needed some time by himself, to take everything in."
"We don't even know if he has a license." Dan said as he walked towards the kitchen.
Summer Bay – Leah and Dan's House – Kitchen
"Let's just assume that he has." Leah said as she followed Dan "and not panic, ok."
Grabbing his own car keys and stopping in the doorway to turn around: "He's a 17-year-old kid with a huge chip on his shoulder and now he's behind the wheel of a car. I've got to go and find him."
As Dan turned back around, he nearly knocked Rachel over: "Sorry."
With that Dan took off.
"Hey, hey what's the rush?" Rachel asked Leah.
Sighing Leah just shook her head.
(3:54pm) 12 minutes later…
Summer Bay – The Den
April and Ruby had decided that it for now it was best to not follow Matilda as she clearly didn't want to talk, so instead they had gone and took a seat in The Den.
As they were taking a drink of their milkshakes, Marilyn came over: "It's a shame young Matilda couldn't have stayed a bit longer. I hardly ever catch sight of her these days. All she ever does is order food and whisk it straight off back home."
As Marilyn walked away again to clean some table both girls looked at each other and put their drinks down just as Lucas walked in.
"Hey Luc." April said as she quickly stood up and walked over to him.
"If this is about Lee…" Lucas started to say.
Cutting him off, April said: "No, no it's about Mattie. I can't believe you had a go at her."
"I didn't have a go at her."
"So, you didn't tell her that she was a selfish cow?" April said as they both sat down.
"Ok, maybe I was a little heavy but that's only because she was making this all about her."
"Do you know how hard it was for her to deal with the fact that you were going to be a dad?"
Lucas didn't say anything instead he just listened.
"It broke her heart. She thought that you cheated on her while you were both still together and before you say it don't bring Ric into this as you know that was after you two broke up." April pointed out "Then not to mention all the other stuff that has been happening lately."
"Yeah, well we've all been through a rough time but none of us are carrying on the way she is." Lucas said.
"That's not fair, you don't have a big burn on your neck reminding you every day of what we've been through. You know she's paranoid about that."
"Ok, so I'll apologise."
With a smile on her face, April replied: "Good."
"Not that it's going to do anything." Lucas sighed "It doesn't matter what anyone says these days, she's always down on herself."
(4:25pm) 31 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Tony and Rachel's House – Living Room and Kitchen
Unbeknown to Matilda that her friends were talking about her, she was currently staring at the box while wiping her mouth staring at the half of the final cake she had left.
Suddenly, she ran from the room as she was about the be sick.
