"We're back!" Roman called.
Seth looked over at Samara and nodded. She nodded back in return. It was showtime. One of the two men returning was behind her disappearance and torture, and they had to figure out who couldn't be trusted.
"Hey," Roman popped into the kitchen first. "Oh good, she's eating. Has she spoken yet?"
"Not yet," Seth answered.
Roman sat down across from Samara and watched her as she slowly ate some of the leftovers from his pasta dish the night before. Her eyes were still empty, and she wasn't looking at anything in particular.
"It makes me sad to see you like this, Samara," Roman sighed. "I can't imagine how you must feel, Seth."
"She's back now. She'll come around eventually," Dean came into the kitchen. "Uh, food. Feed me, little brother."
"Technically it's Roman's dish. I just warmed up the leftovers," Seth said.
"I'm still hungry," Dean said.
Seth fixed two plates and put them down in front of Roman and Dean. He then filled two glasses of water for them as well.
"How did it go?" Seth asked.
"Not happening," Dean answered.
"I thought that was Roman's call," Seth said.
"He brought me along for a background check on her. She is clean as snow. It'll never work between them. Whatever lies she had been feeding him that made him believe she might be a hitman too, well, that's just bullshit. Big man here just needs to have a one night stand to get over his sexual frustrations," Dean said. "Besides, she wasn't even that pretty."
Roman scowled at Dean who grinned in return.
"She's beautiful and you know it," Roman said.
"Not my type," Dean pointed his fork at Samara. "Like Samara here. Seth says she's beautiful but I don't see it either."
"Shut up!" Seth growled.
"Hey, it's a good thing. You don't have to worry about me trying to steal her," Dean said.
"As if you ever had a chance," Seth said.
"Guess we'll never know," Dean smirked. "I would never touch her. Or any girl Roman might end up with. I'm not that fucking dumb that I would risk this brotherhood over a girl. Give me some credit."
Roman took a sip of his water and yawned. Samara was twirling her fork around in the pasta while watching the two men across the table. Dean emptied his water and yawned too.
"Damn, this stuff lies heavy in the stomach," Dean said. "I'm tired. I think I'll go take a nap."
"Me too," Roman said.
The two men got up and went to their rooms. Seth waited until he heard the doors close before looking at Samara again.
"They'll be out soon enough," he said.
"Who were they talking about?" She asked.
"Oh, Roman met a woman. He's been on a couple of dates with her. He's tried looking into her but he can't find much. What he did find was a sealed file about her being part of a trial for a hit which can only mean one of two things. She either did it or she was a secret witness. I was hoping she did it but it sounds like Dean found out it's the other way around," he said.
He sighed. Even though there was a chance Roman was behind everything that had happened to Samara, he still felt bad for his friend. Roman just wanted to find his special someone like Seth had.
"He's lonely. And he really liked her. He wouldn't shut up about her," he said.
"Love is rare for people like us," she said.
"We found it," he said. "It's not impossible. I gotta believe there's someone out there for my boys too."
"Dean doesn't want one. He made peace with this life a long time ago. As long as he can get laid from time to time, he's fine," she said.
"Dean's a special type of breed," he said. "Fuck, we better go check on them."
They walked to Dean's room first and looked inside. Dean was out like a light. They walked to Roman's room next where they found him in bed sleeping like a bear. Seth looked at Samara and sighed.
"They're out," he said. "We got a couple of hours before they wake up. Let's move on with the plan."
"I understand if you don't want to go through with this. They're your brothers. You don't have to have that image tainted. I can leave," she said.
He grabbed her and pressed his lips against hers in a hard kiss.
"I can never go on knowing one of them did that to you," he said. "And I can never go on without you in my life."
