Aro's Point of View
Surprisingly, Edward could not hear Bella. What a wonderful gift the both of them possess! Edward being able to read minds from afar, and Bella, oh Bella, who can shield her mind so well. Alice and Jasper, the four of them could join the guard. Even Emmett could probably join in the lower guard.
"We must catch up later there is much to tell!" I said before adding, "For now though, I assume you want a place to let Bella rest, and you wish to unwind, so for that. Jane, will you show the Cullen's to our guest rooms?" She nodded and started leading the way. Giana left also after a quick bow.
"I still do not get why they play human, there is no point!" sighing I turned to Caius, "Caius, not everyone wishes to be feared. Carlisle, although he doesn't know it, is protecting him and his family rather well. Without 'vampire' being attached to his name, he wouldn't be destroyed should the humans rise up and destroy us." Caius was sneering like always at the concept of humans rising against us.
"Humans are powerless against us." Surprising me, Marcus was smiling, "Would you say Roxanne doesn't affect you brother? We all know that's not true." It was both a strange and liberating thing to see Marcus like this again. After Didyame he just sat there, not caring. There was another reason why me and Caius suggested Marcus to be the first person to be with Roxanne.
We said it was because he was the calmest of us three. Although this was true, it was also because we wanted to see him alive like he was before Didyame death, which I had… to my horror… caused. My obsession's had her killed, I justified it at the time, by being a necessary sacrifice. Something for the greater good. That it was needed, but in reality, I had just been too caught up in my obsession to rule the vampire world.
I knew that if I ever told Marcus, I would lose his brothership. I had grown very close to him over the millennia. We were brothers in everything but blood, in laws actually. Shaking myself back to the present, I realized I had spaced out.
"Fine! So I have one weakness! That does not make me weak like humans." It went without saying that Marcus's snort meant 'sure whatever you want to believe.' Chuckling I said with amusement, "Brother, I would very much love to see Carlisle's reaction to your teasing." A fire of his own amusement mirroring my own showed through his eyes, "Yes I'm sure you would. Caius?" He rolled his eyes, "Of course I would love to see anything that gets a reaction from him and that coven of his."
Looking at him he was obviously thinking that normally he would have just thrown the human that came with the Cullen's out the window and on to the pavement ten story's down; but alas he couldn't, since it wasn't justified anymore. Caius problems I suppose.
