Welcome, fellow readers, to my first story: From the Ashes. Oh, man, am I nervous. This story will basically deal with the prospect of what would have happened if Iris had been killed at the hands of Savitar at Season 3 Finale, as well as what would have happened if all or at least most of Oliver's team in Lian Yu would have been killed when the island exploded in Season 5. Besides that, I just wanted to say that I don't remember much about 5x23 of Arrow or 3x23 of Flash, which are the starting points of this story so I may commit some mistakes in this chapter, especially in Arrow, since the Flash will deviate severely from canon. Then again, it does is fanfiction so I guess it doesn't really matters much. That being said, I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1 Broken Promises

''You lose, Flash''

Barry could swear he heard Iris voice as he ran towards her and Savitar, saying goodbye to him, and wishing him a happy life. But no, he wasn't going to let that happen, he couldn't let it happen, it just WOULDN'T happen…right?

A million thoughts were going through his head as he saw everything in slow motion. The look of fear of Joe's face in that roof, the same one that carried Iris, alongside desperation. The blade piercing through her skin, Savitar leaving the scene at superspeed and her body falling to the floor. In that moment, he realizes he wasn't fast enough.

As his hands stopped her from falling to the floor, he could only beg for her to wake up, tears pouring from his eyes while from her mouth poured blood. Slowly tough, his mind started to realize that… she was gone, Savitar had killed her right in front of him.

He had lost.

Oliver knew this was a bad idea, but he had no other choice, all of his team was captured and he would do almost anything to get them back, including making another team of unlikely allies to free them from Chase.

Oliver growled. Just thinking about that name made him angry. A part of him-a big part, actually- wanted to end the man, kill him and finally get rid of him. But he knew he couldn't, as that would mean that even in death, Chase had won, and he wasn't going to give him that satisfaction.

And that's how he found himself back in Lian Yu, looking for his friends and getting closer to the final battle against Prometheus.

Barry returned to S.T.A.R Labs carrying the lifeless body of Iris West. Everyone was there, and everyone was mourning her in their own ways. H.R was trying to comfort Joe the best he could, even though he himself felt tremendous guilt for not being good enough to help, to save Iris. Cisco, who had escaped from his battle with Killer Frost, and Julian, were trying to be strong for their friends, but the pain over Iris death was written all over their faces.

Barry carefully set Iris on one of the examination tables, closing her eyes with her hand and witnessing first hand his failure. He remembered how he had promised her that he would save her, that she was going to live and be happy. He had broken that promise. Sure, everyone would tell him how it wasn't his fault, it's what they always did. But he knew they were just trying to make him feel better. If it wasn't for Flashpoint this would have never happened and Iris would be here with them, talking and laughing… oh God, her laugh. He would never hear it again. Now, he would only have it in his memories.

Just as Cisco was about to talk to Barry, already imagining how his friend was probably blaming himself for it, he noticed something, or rather, someone, was missing. Then it hit him.

''Guys…Where's Wally?''

''I won't kill you, I'm not a murderer, it's who I used to be but not anymore!'' Oliver yelled at Chase, who was finally at his mercy on the floor.

''You can blame me about your father's death, but I'm done blaming myself for the death of mine''

Finally, he said it, and it was true. Now, he felt free, he felt better, good again. He recognized his dark past for the sake of a better future, and, for once in a very long time, he felt true relief.

That relief, however, goes away the moment Chase tells him that his son is dead. He doesn't wants to believe it, but knowing Chase, it could very well be true. And it's in that moment where he just wants to put an arrow on Chase head, but, for his own sake, he decides not to, he refuses.

''Even if it's true, even if you killed William, killing you is not an option, I'm not going to be the person you want me to be, never''

Because he's not a murderer, not anymore.

''He's probably back home, we shouldn't go after him, he just needs some time alone'' Julian says, but Barry knows it isn't like that, he knows it from the future, he knows what Wally is about to do, if he hasn't done so already. He looks at Joe, and determines himself to save Wally at whatever the cost is, because he isn't going to let Joe lose two of his sons in one night, he won't fail him, not again.

''No'' he simply states before continuing to explain after seeing everyone's puzzled looks.

''He's going after Savitar, I remember it, from the future'' As soon as Barry says this, everyone tenses up in worry for Wally.

''Cisco, track his suit'' Immediately, Cisco moves to the console in the cortex, and does as Barry tells him to, while everyone else gets ready to do whatever they can to at least save Wally. If they couldn't save Iris, at least they will do all in their power to save Wally.

''He is at 134 Reeves avenue, near Central City Park'' As soon as Cisco says this, Barry speeds up as fast as he can towards that direction, not wasting any time on devising a plan of attack, it would only slow him down, and besides, they had failed before, so it wouldn't be a surprise if it failed now.

No, no more plans, he would go after Savitar and end him, once and for all.

It takes him less time to get there than he thought, just in time to see Savitar about to crush Wally's vertebrae under his boot. No, he won't let that happen too. He will stop Savitar now, whatever the cost is. This time, he will be fast enough.

He doesn't remembers hitting anyone as hard as he hit Savitar now, and he can see small pieces of metal from his armor going through the air in slow motion. Good, he better gets ready because he will get much worse very soon.

For now, he just stands there, growling at Savitar, almost like a bloodthirsty beast.

''Huh, looks like The Flash is showing the other side of the coin, isn't he? About time'' He says mockingly, through his voice modulator that is supposed to mask his identity and make him more scary.

But Barry wasn't scared of him, not anymore. All he felt towards Savitar was rage, he had taken the woman he loved away from him, and now, he would make him pay.

''Shut up and fight'' Flash said before charging at Savitar once again, only to be thrown at the side from an ice blast from Killer Frost. Of course she was here too.

''Too slow, Flash'' Frost said before encasing his body in ice, with only his head free.

''Now, you will behold Wally's death as well, 'Flash' '' Savitar said as he pulled out that goddamned blade from his wrist once again.

Luckily, in the last second, they were interrupted by two vibrational blasts coming from Cisco, who had breached there from S.T.A.R Labs, one headed to Savitar, whom was thrown away by the force of the impact and the other headed to Barry, to break the ice that covered him. It worked, but that didn't stopped Barry from feeling like he just got a punch from Supergirl at the moment.

However, as soon as he saw Savitar get up, he knew what he had to do, seeing that Cisco had gotten Wally (who was severely injured, but not as much as in the original timeline fortunately) out of harm's way and was currently fighting Killer Frost. This was his chance, the final fight against Savitar.

Gathering all of the strength he had, he got up at superspeed and went to punch Savitar, but just before his fist connected with his masked face, Savitar moved at superspeed and ran away.

'Oh, no you're not' He thinks before chasing after Savitar.

And so it begins a persecution all around the city, with them stopping only to trade blows at each other every a few seconds.

Just when Savitar stopped, he allowed himself to stop as well and take a look at his surroundings, since he had only focused on Savitar on all of the fight, with everything else being just a blur to his eyes. They had gotten out the city, and were now on a hill overlooking the city and surrounded by trees (AN: Basically, where they fight at the end of season 3). After taking a second to catch his breath, he called.

''Savitar!'' He yelled and Savitar, who had his back to him while watching the city, turned to look at him. This time, even behind his metallic mask, he could tell there was something different from his stare, maybe like it emanated a different energy. Or at least, that's what he believed. It felt like if Savitar stopped seeing him as a naïve and weak individual, like if he was looking at someone whom he 'almost' respected. Almost like if he knew this would be their last battle. Like if he knew this was his end… his finish line.

'Well then' Barry thought 'Why don't we make it official'

He wasn't a murderer, right? Because right now, Oliver felt like he had no other choice.

Either he let Chase go -condemning his son in the process-, or he killed Chase, saving his son in the way but killing the rest of them.

What was he supposed to do? Every time he felt like he was making the right choice, life just showed him a way of pushing him back into his dark origins. It was almost like if destiny decided that he should be a monster.

But no, he wouldn't, he couldn't do this, and he would spit in destiny's face if he had to. He would find a third choice. After all, that's what heroes do, right?

''This ends TONIGHT, Savitar!'' Barry yelled furiously at him.

''Finally, I have almost completed my ascension, and soon, very soon, I will have fulfilled the last step to become a god amongst the humanity''

''I don't care what you say, you won't make it through tonight, you won't see the dawn again, I'll make sure of it''

Savitar chuckled darkly ''Oh but I will, you just don't see it yet'' He said before charging towards The Flash.

Seeing this, Barry did the same, and so it started a battle for their lives.

He did it. He had found a third choice. He managed to save his friends and William at the same time. Chase had lost and they had won.

Hugging his son for the first time in, well ever, he made sure to muster all the strength he could without hurting his son. He wished he could stay like this more time, but they still had to bring in Chase and get out of this hellish island. Then, they would have all the time in the world to catch up, because now, he did intended to be a part of his son's life, to get to know him, to know his likes and dislikes, to protect him. Slowly letting go of William, he motioned for him to get behind him and stared at the injured Chase, defeated.

''You lost Chase, see, I didn't had to kill you to save everyone, I found a third choice, now I'm bringing you in''

''No Oliver, I don't care the cost but I will make you realize'' Suddenly he got a gun from one of the pockets of his suit and aimed it at his head ''everything you touch is destroyed'' Before Oliver could do anything else beyond yelling at him not to shoot, he pulled the trigger.

Turning his head to the island, he saw all of the explosions in it, blowing everything apart. His friends, all of them, god he hoped Slade had gotten them out of there. But there was this tiny voice in the back of his mind, telling him what he didn't wanted to hear: They were all dead, the explosion had killed them all and they hadn't gotten to the boat in time. It was in that moment that he realized.

He had lost.

Barry had lost count of how long had they been fighting for. Minutes, hours, he couldn't tell. He wondered where his friends were. Not that he wanted them here of course. It was better this way, just him against Savitar. He was pretty sure he had heard them in the communicator before, but he was too focused on Savitar to respond. Couldn't they track him through his suit anyways? Well, thinking it over, maybe they were moving too fast for them to place them, or maybe the tracker had just broken during the fight.

What he did was sure of, was that Savitar was getting more and more erratic as time passed, and he was committing more mistakes. 'One of those is going to be his last' Barry thought.

As if on cue, Savitar tried to land one strong punch on his face, but the exhaustion of the battle had made him slower, and Barry had barely time to dodge it, and seeing his opening, landed several punches in his gut ending with a hard punch that send Savitar backwards to the floor.

Taking this small moment to compose himself, he noticed that they had returned to the same hill in which they had started fighting who knows how long ago. Then again, they might just have been running circles around the same place, but he couldn't say for sure. He also saw that his gloves were torn apart and bloody, probably from himself and the punches. He just hoped Savitar's face was just as bloodied behind that suit.

Speaking of which, he could notice that Savitar's suit was damaged as well. His shoulders, mask, chest and a bit of the metal in his legs was torn off, damaged or dented. No surprise his knuckles were bleeding, it must have took quite the amount of punches to do that.

Barry saw Savitar starting to get up, Barry sped up to him and, unconsciously, vibrated through the suit, pushing Savitar out and with him taking his place, the suit changing color to red from blue. Once he noticed this however, he didn't cared, all he cared about was ending Savitar, once and for all.

Pulling the blade out from his wrist, he picked Savitar by the neck and aimed the blade right towards his heart.

Just as he was about to, however, he heard his friend's voices, but he wasn't sure what they were saying, as he could swear he heard Iris's voice once again, telling him not to do it, not to go down that road, to not be like that monster.

''What, Flash, too scared to do what you have to?'' He chuckled darkly ''I always knew you weren't good enough''

He was taunting him, he knew that, but right now, he didn't cared about that. He wanted to kill him so badly. But he couldn't, because that isn't what Iris would have wanted… right? The doubt started to cloud him, what would Iris would have wanted?

''I remember how good her pleas of help sounded, that terrified face looking at me like if I was her Barry, she was such a fool'' Barry tightened the grip on his neck, but that didn't stopped him from talking ''I can't believe I loved her once. Pushing the blade through her, though, felt so, so good'' He said with a dark grin covering his features.

For Barry, this was it. Yelling in anger and seeing red from fury, he pushed the blade through Savitar heart, finally ending his life.

The first lights of dawn were starting to come out, and before he died, Savitar muster the strength to say one last thing to Barry ''See, told you I would see the dawn again'' He said before a small laugh escaped his lips, only to stop a second later, alongside the rest of his body.

Seeing what he had done, Barry pulled the blade from Savitar's dead body before vibrating at the right frequency to destroy the suit. And when it did, Barry felt relief wash over him, Savitar was completely and utterly destroyed. After staring for a few seconds at the body that was already starting to disintegrate, he took of his cowl, feeling a bit of blood coming out from his mouth, and turned to stare at the dawn, slowly walking to the edge of the hill, and just standing there when he got to the edge. Savitar's last words still haunt him, but he tried not to think too much about it. He could hear his friends coming out of a breach, and turned for a small moment to them, seeing them stare at what was left of Savitar's almost completely disintegrated body. Turning to the dawn once again, he allowed his thoughts to wander to Savitar's death one last time. He didn't tough it would feel like it did. He always thought it would feel…wrong. And maybe with someone else it did, but not with Savitar. With Savitar, it felt different. It felt good, it felt satisfying…

It felt right.

Next in From the Ashes:

Both teams deal with the consequences of the aftermath of their final battles, while decisions are taken, and new resolutions are made.

Hope you liked it, I should be posting Chapter 2 next week. By the way, the next chapters should be longer, so don't worry if you felt like this chapter was too small. Also if you want to, feel free to leave a review in the box below (right, where else would it be). See you in Chapter 2 :)
