You've gotta be kidding me…

Eva slowly gained consciousness only to be blinded by the bright sun. Since when did I sleep with the curtains open? After finally opening her eyes completely, she found herself staring into a large, cloudless blue sky. Given a few seconds to process the new visuals, it finally hit her. This isn't my bedroom...Where am I? She sat up abruptly on the unfamiliar ground and started to look around, but her pink eyes snapped down to look at her seemingly naked body.

Instinctually, her hands shot up to cover herself but stopped when she realized there was nothing to cover. Oh. My. Walls. I'M A TITAN, WHAT THE H- wait, a titan? This hardcore AOT fan couldn't believe her eyes. She had actually woken up in her favorite anime. Her eyes began to sparkle with glee as her mind quickly ran through all the characters she could possibly meet and join on adventures in order to slay all the tita-...Are you kidding me...no one will talk to me if I look like this. With this new revelation, Eva was already on the verge of tears due to her new form.

Shaking her head to rid herself of that hopeless feeling, she reminded herself that crying wouldn't help the situation. Aaah, whatever. Might as well enjoy this as much as possible. Eva picked herself up off the ground and all but ran to the nearest lake—mirror—she always knew she was a vain person anyway. Crouching down next to the clear water, she began to analyze reflection. A satisfied smile graced her face as she inspected her pink hair that reached her mid-back. Her eyes were bright pink as well, shimmering due to the glistening water. At least I don't look like the rest of those titans.

Inspecting the rest of her body, she found that it was quite lean with strong abdominal muscles clearly visible. She concluded that she was quite strong, using Annie's titan form as reference. Finally, she stood and took a good look at her surroundings. Besides a few wandering titans, a forest in the distance caught her eye. Knowing titan territory for what it was, she decided the best thing to do would be to look for a place to rest for a while. Minecraft Style, Eva thought to herself while mentally smirking despite how childish she was acting.

She began her jog to the newfound forest.

Eva's POV

I've reached the edge of the forest and it looks like I'm in luck, I don't see any titans in here. I tried not to bother with those titans since they still do look creepy to me, I was human not too long ago after all. I may have *accidentally* kicked a few in the nape on the way here. It's not my fault they were in my way! Speaking of which, on my way over, I tried to get a feel for how tall of a titan I am by comparing myself to the pure titans. Knowing that most of them were about 7 meters or so, I could tell I'm probably around 15 meters tall. And all of a sudden, being a tiny human sounded way more appealing.

Moving on from that train of thought, I return my gaze to the forest entrance. Where am I gonna live? Look, I get it, I'm a titan, I bet you're wondering 'why would a titan need a house,' right? Well, I still want a home nonetheless. I need at least one safe place to relax in this beautiful yet monstrous world I've spontaneously spawned in. Having mentally rationalized this decision, I walk my way into the medium-sized forest. Everything seems peaceful and tranquil, animals scurrying about—though they're barely visible from my height, they still manage to add to the calm in this forest. The sound of nature is music to my gigantic ears

...do all titans have ears?

I shake my head free of the somewhat disturbing ear question and look up at the darkening sky. I'll need to sleep soon...why do titans even sleep? Where is Hange when you actually need her...With a sigh, I decide to keep walking in order to cover more distance while I search for (-free real estate-) a suitable home.

After walking through another cluster of huge trees, I found myself at the entrance of a clearing. As I peered into the strangely familiar area, the source of the familiarity became known. Is that...Ilse Langnar?! I watched, slack-jawed, as the horror-stricken lady scribbled into her journal at the speed of light. Now that's skill if I've ever seen it. Wait, Eva, focus. I've gotta save her somehow. However, as soon as I finished that thought, the ridiculously small titan whipped it's head over in my direction. Eek! That ain't no titan, that's a demon! With my cover blown so quickly, I knew I might as well just get it over with.

I made my way over towards the titan and the human currently sat down against another giant tree. As soon as I was close enough, I let out a low, intimidating growl in hopes that this hunched creature would back off Ilse. To my relief, it slowly backed away, it's eyes constantly flickering between me and Langnar. Despite the unnerving feeling of being watched so intently, I took this chance to check on her. Finding that she was still writing her hand off, I lowered my hand down towards her so that I could at least carry her somewhere safer.

I knew I should've expected it after all the self-insert fanfictions I've seen for this anime so far, but I couldn't help being shocked and slightly hurt at how she seemed to jump in fear, almost dropping her notebook. Ouch. This moment served to remind me that I, in the eyes of humankind, am a giant monster that threatens the human species. As I was quickly losing my patience, I opened my mouth to rush her but all that came out was a pathetic grunt. This too?! Why couldn't I be one of those cool titans that could speak like they had been at it their whole life! Of course I end up with the language barrier trope...

I opted for just grabbing her as gently as I could and letting her rest in my closed palm—proceeding to ignore her restless squirming to escape. With her secured within my huge hand, my eyes returned to that abnormally small titan from before. It had it's unblinking stare settled on me, seemingly distressed that I'd taken Langnar. Alright, time to plan my approach. How do we deal with this fool? Even after a few, silent moments of brainstorming on the spot, I couldn't come up with a single idea so I decided the best option would be to stomp the dude out since violence is always the answer. I charged at the titan with full speed, hopped, and planted my foot right in its face.

That momentum sent us sliding into the dirt farther than I thought we would have. I shook the titans face off my foot as best as I could and watched as it's carcass began to deteriorate. I can't believe my first battle went like this...lame. Sighing at the anticlimactic fight I'd just ended, I turned around and walked back towards the tree in the center of the beautiful clearing.

I sat my large frame down against the sturdy tree and laid my legs out in front of me. A while ago the squirming in my hand had calmed down and I guessed Ilse had exhausted herself after all this time. Seeing no threats nearby, I carefully placed the back of my hand on the ground and opened my hand to see the contents, half concerned that I may have accidentally clenched my hand too hard during that whole ordeal.

The scout in my hand planted her fearful eyes on mine as soon as she was exposed to the open air. She seemed to be looking for something, maybe something similar to that titan I eliminated, it did speak to her after all. Seeing that I wasn't going to move, Langnar visibly gulped, clearly contemplating her next move. I almost chuckled at the sight of her thinking so hard but I decided against it to avoid startling her.

"C-can you understand me?" she questioned me in a hesitant tone. This development was exactly what I was waiting for. I smiled and nodded.

Ilse's jaw dropped at my short answer and mirth could be seen in my eyes as I watched the human with curiosity. Being this tall has clearly gotten to my head...

Unfortunately, I couldn't help the sleepiness that washed over me as the sun began to disappear from view, along with my energy. With Ilse still standing in my hand, I lifted her up into the hole that had once been her grave in the anime. Man, this is messed up. She stumbled into the hole with a thump and I lied back down against the tree in hopes of keeping her covered from any titans that may tread through the area as I sleep.

I guess she was still wary of me since I heard more than saw her scurry back into the tree as far as she could. My eyelids grew heavier as the human's shuffling came to a stop. Without so much as a thought, I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
