Violet tossed and turned at the cool breeze blowing from the window. But still managed to get sleep. She wanted to sleep forever in this bed, she was almost surprised that Moo didn't make her sleep on the couch just to enjoy the comfort of his own bed. She knew he wouldn't do that though, he's always been the one to be overly generous to the ones he cared about the most.
She thought about how Moo changed a lot when she last saw him. First of all, she never saw Moo being tall before almost like his brother, she thought he was just going to stay short and chubby like his mother. He had gotten many tattoos which were something she never saw him doing, every time he would go to the doctor he would always talk about how big and scary the needles were. It came back to his piercings on top of his right eyebrow, some of the bridge and a ring on the side of his nose. And lastly his looks and figure. She saw that Moo had gotten really built, when they were kids he was a bit on the chubby side always eating those big meals his mother would always cook, now his fat turned into pure muscle. His chubby cheeks had gone away revealing some of his cheekbones she never thought he had. She wondered thoughtfully how he would look with his shirt off.
Overall he's grown to be a pretty attractive guy, she almost began to fantasize about him just pinning her to a wall with his strong muscles overpowering hers as they just—
"Vi," a voice whispered knocking her out of her thought, "Vi, are you up?"
Violet slowly opened her tired eyes seeing a blurry vision of Moo. She furrowed her brows in annoyance wondering why he wanted her up so late.
"Moo, what the hell are doing?"
"I came here to see if you're awake."
She rolled her eyes, "I am now, thanks to you."
"You want me to make breakfast?"
"In the middle of the night?"
"It's almost morning, Vi."
Her face softened with her not knowing anything about the time now and days. Moo lived in a society that still had electricity, she took his word for it.
She jumped as grabbed her hand gently pulling her out of the bed. Wiping the sleep from her eyes her focus was clearer as she looked up at him seeing where he was taking them. She was too tired to even ask and just hope he wasn't leading her to anything bad. He turned back smiling at her as she weakly smiled back.
"I really want you to come and see this," he chuckled still leading her.
Smokey started to walk beside Violet closely worrying about her safety as she was still half asleep. Moo stopped at a tall window in this dark room of his apartment Violet didn't recognize. She regained some consciousness as she backed away while Moo pushed one of the window doors open.
He turned to look at her with concern, "What's wrong?"
"W-what are we doing, Moo?"
He beamed at her, "I thought it was a good idea to watch the sunrise together . . . if that's fine with you."
She blinked at, she had seen a sunrise before. She had always preferred watching the stars at night. Sleeping would always keep her from even doing it.
"Uh . . . y-yeah," she accepted hesitantly, "but where are we gonna watch it?"
Moo laughed, "On the balcony, where else?"
He tugged her again as they both walked on the metal floor. Moo let go of her walking up and leaned on the railing with Smokey sitting beside him. Violet stared at him with an almost unsure look, she didn't know if she should due to her . . . sight. Moo looked back at her then pulled her up to the railing standing beside her.
Violet stared opened seeing all the blurry shapes of tall buildings that were appeared small from where they stood. She then turned her attention to the dark blue and magenta sky as morning began to peak. She had never seen anything in the sky so . . . beautiful before, she started to regret not getting up in the morning times.
"Vi . . ." Moo spoke with a sorry tone, "I feel so damn terrible about that day."
She knitted her brows, "What day?"
"You know . . . the day when we first saw each other," he looked down squeezing his eyes shut, "when I first didn't know was you . . ."
Violet started remembering very clearly that day. She saw so much fury and hate when he had her pinned by the neck. She thought about how he was seconds away from choking her to death.
But she could understand where he coming from. In a world like this, what else are you supposed to do? He was about to get killed by those two men if it wasn't for her.
She touched his hand reassuringly as he was hesitant to even look at her.
"It wasn't your fault, I thought you were someone else too and I didn't want to see someone get killed, and I was glad it was you."
"But I didn't know it was you!" he cried, "I almost killed you for God sake! And if I did . . . " he paused as a tear slid down his cheek, " . . . I don't even think I could live with myself knowing I killed my only best friend."
"I don't blame you at all, Moo," she reasoned squeezing his hand, "It's not like the old world, it's now killed or be killed out here."
"I wish it didn't have to be that way . . ."
He took a moment to stare out to the sky before digging in his pockets. Violet saw he pulled one of those cigars he smoked at the cabin lighting with his lighter before inhaling it in. She looked the other way not wanting to inhale the fumes herself as he blew a large amount of smoke out in the open.
Moo looked back at her taking it out of his mouth holding it in front of her.
"You wanna try?" he asked with Violet staring down at it trying not to scrunch her nose in disgust.
"I'm good," she simply said turning her head away from it.
Moo frowned, "You don't like me smoking, do you?"
Violet wanted to be honest but she didn't want him to change his ways because of her.
She shook her head, "It's fine, Moo."
"Are you sure?"
She just nodded as he just looked at her hesitantly inhaling some of the cigar again. She turned her attention back to the sky that began to brighten looking at the peeking sun.
"How do you like it here?" he asked blowing out smoke.
"Oh, um, I think it's pretty nice," she answered still looking at the sky.
He shuffled his feet nervously, "Have you . . . ever thought about . . . coming back?"
The question caught her off guard, "What?"
"You know, staying here, have you ever thought about it?"
She looked down, she had thought about it a little, but she still thought her place was there at the school. It may be the place where her mother left her out to dry, but she spent almost half her life there, with taking care of Blossom on top of that. She did know that she wasn't going to leave her daughter, that was for sure. Violet's heart just ached with her not being there with her.
She sighed, "Moo, you know why I'm here, I told you yesterday I had to go back. My home is there, I don't even know if I even have a place here."
His shoulders slumped, "I get it . . . if that's your home I shouldn't try to pull you away from there."
"Hey, don't you remember we're always together no matter where we are?" she gave him a reassuring smile as he smiled back.
"I'll always remember."
They both turned to the bright orb beginning to rise to the bright pink sky while Violet just stared in awe while Moo strangely frowned sadly sighing heavily.
"Thanks for watching the sunrise with me, Vi," he managed to give a half-grin, "I hope we can do this again."
Violet furrowed her brows in concern looking at his glass eye realizing what was wrong, "Your 'Goldeneye', Moo, I'm so sorry . . ."
"It's fine, really," he grabbed her hands looking into her eyes, "don't feel bad for me, it's alright, I can still see."
Her eyes closed, "Not way you want to . . ."
He then thought of something to make her feel better as the corners of his mouth lifted. All of sudden he swooped her off her feet as she squealed making her laugh and Smokey jumping around them wagging his tail.
"Moo, what the fuck are you doing?!" she cried as he walked back to his bedroom.
"Cheering you up," he laughed out.
When he got to his room he dropped her on the bed climbing on top of her pinning her by the shoulders. She squirmed in his grasp until she eventually gave up realizing that he was too strong for her.
She gave him a serious glare not knowing what he was about to do.
"Moo, what are you—"
She was interrupted by him racing reaching under her tank top starting to tickle her waist. Violet quickly started bursting out laughing at the touch remembering that was that was her most ticklish places, she wondered how Moo still knew that after all these years.
"Moo, you asshole—!Oh god—make it stop!!" she howled out in laughter as Moo still went on.
"You promise to quit being upset?"
"Yes, yes! Anything, just please make it stop!!" she continued to laugh harder with foam starting to form.
He pulled his hands away his face brightening seeing Violet's frown completely gone. She breathed heavily as she calmed down her sparkling eyes looking into his.
"You're such a dumbass."
He chuckled, "You need to stop telling me things I already know."
She giggled still staring at Moo as he looked back his body still over hers. She rubbed his arm as he shuddered at her gentle touch lowering himself to get closer to her. His forehead met hers his dreads tickling her face. Violet bit her lip never being this close not only to her friend, but to a guy for that matter.
"Y-you look g-great," she stuttered not knowing what else to say.
"I would have to say the same for you," he chuckled lightly his sliding to her waist.
Violet was so mesmerized by his stare, she wondered curiously was that how he pulled girls that he wanted by looking into his gaze. She wanted his arms pinning her tightly wanting him to empower over her.
She kept staring at him until he blinked then quickly got from on top of her his smile fading. Violet looked at him in confusion wondering what was wrong.
"I'm so sorry, Vi," he sat on the edge of the bed putting his hand over his face, "you're my friend, I shouldn't of even tried that on you."
She was first confused on what he was talking about when she soon realized what he was talking about.
But in all honesty, she didn't care.
"It's alright, we're all still tired, and we can do stupid shit when we're tired."
"Yeah . . . tired . . ."
She hugged him from behind leaning his head on to hers as his smiled returned.
"I forgive you, Moo, you know that right?"
He beamed, "Right."
"I know you're not capable of hurting me, you know why?"
"Why?"
"Because friends don't hurt each other no matter how much they've changed."
He leaned in closer, "I'm glad you're my best friend."
"I'm glad you're still mine too."
They stayed like that for a good minute before they pulled away. Moo got up from the bed while Violet laid back still wearing a smirk on her face.
"You can sleep a little while longer if you want," he stretched his arms, "I'm about to take Smokey for a walk."
"Sounds great," she yawned.
He grinned, "Whenever you wake up we can go into town and grab something, alright?"
Violet nodded before slowly closing her eyes going back to sleep. She could hear him close the room door before he headed out of the apartment.
She smiled thoughtfully at the moment they just had together, her crush starting to grow more and more. She dreaming about what if Moo did continued doing what he was doing and how she would feel if he still overpowered her in that way. She didn't feel threatened, nor scared by his action.
Instead, she hoped it happened again real soon . . .
