Violet sunk down into her seat at the sight of Clementine and Louis standing in front of the gate. Clem could barely go anywhere and Louis had his weapon ready.
Shit, they were probably about to look for me.
As Moo and Storm were pulling up to the gates, Clem marched up to Moo's kart with out hesitation glaring daggers at Moo as Violet sunk even further down.
"Who the hell are you people?!" she barked angrily, "and why do you have Violet?!!"
Moo just stared boredly at the brunette while Smokey was growling lowly behind him which made Clem angrier.
"Why do you have her?!" she yelled again shaking on the gates between them wanting to tear them apart to get to Violet, "what the fuck did you do to her?! Answer me!!"
He yawned while Smokey started barking and snarling, "What do you mean? I brought her back safely."
While Clem was unlocking the gates to get to Moo Violet jumped up trying to stop her before Smokey jumped out running towards her. Before he could attack her, Rosie jumped out along with him rushing towards the wolf tackling him herself. This got Moo's attention as the two dogs fought and Clem trying to call Rosie back before she got injured.
"Smokey, come, stop!!!" Moo cried loud enough for Smokey to stop.
The black timber wolf yelped in pain as there was a big bite wound on his front left paw left by Rosie. Though the wolf was much bigger than the pit bull, she did have bigger muscles and a powerful bite.
"Look, she was with us and she's fine, happy?" Moo spat as Clem went out the gates with Louis trying to stop her.
Even though she was an ant compared to his size, she still wasn't afraid as she stared him down.
"I don't who you are, but I want you to leave Violet and—"
"Clem!" Louis interrupted.
"What?"
He walked over to Storm's kart staring at Sophie and Izzy with a staggering look on his face as the two girls looked the same way. Before Louis could speak, Izzy opened and jumped out of the kart wrapping her big arms around him as he hugged back.
Clem soon paid her attention to them as she walked up to the three clearing her throat to get Louis's attention.
"Oh! Izzy, this is my love, Clementine, Clementine Izzy," he introduced.
She looked over and noticed Sophie looking down when Louis called her his "love".
"Who's Izzy?" she asked, madly confused.
"I'm his big sister," Izzy chirped, "and a looks like that my brother found a keeper."
Clem rolled her eyes just by her tone she was another Louis then looked at the redhead, "And you?"
"Um, Sophie, I used to go here along with my sister."
By looking at her Clem could already see who's sister she was. The two were almost identical except for the gash across her face. Though she did look like she had more of a kinder demeanor than Minerva. She then looked at Storm as she looked back giving her a little smile.
"Let me guess, you're related to someone here too?"
She nodded, "Mhm, Violet."
Clem gawked in disbelief as so for Louis, "By what?!"
"Sister."
"How?!!" both Louis and Clem cried.
"Um... I brought back the supplies," Violet said nervously know they were going to bombard her with a ton of questions.
Clem sighed, "Alright we'll talk inside."
She turned to glare at Moo as he glared back, "But he stays behind."
"But Clem, he's my best friend, he helped me get supplies," Violet protested, "and... I actually need to talk to you too."
Louis chuckled nervously, "Um, Vi... we don't just meet scary strangers that you've only known for a few days and call them you're 'best friend'."
"No, you idiot, a childhood best friend."
Clem raised a brow, "You're best friend was... him?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Never mind, we'll deal this back inside, we'll still just keep a close eye on him for now."
Moo just glared more intently at the brunette as him and Storm pulled up through the gates.
"Did he hurt you?" Clem asked frantically, "Try anything?"
"I said I'm fine, Clem," Violet groaned wanting to get out of this room to go see Blossom.
"Vi, he looks ten times scarier than . . . him, and... bigger."
"Well, he's not the person you guys think he is."
"How do you even know if that he's you're best friend or not? He could be faking!"
Violet couldn't help but roll her eyes at this accusation, "I'm pretty sure I know what my only childhood best friend looks like, besides he recognized me first."
"Okay, you might've got me there, but people change, Vi, what if he does try to hurt you?"
"He would never try to do anything like that, Clem!" Violet hissed angrily, "He cares about me too much."
Shit those were the wrong choice of words.
"How do you know he's not manipulating you?"
"Still, wouldn't do that."
Clem sighed, "Whatever, what did you wanna talk to me about again?"
"Um... if he could... stay here for, um... while?"
She widened her eyes in disbelief, "Why?!!"
"Look, Clem, it's been forever since we've seen each other, we just wanna catch up, he'll even help out."
"Violet, you don't get I don't feel safe with him being around you," she shook her head looking away.
"C'mon, Clem, he brought me back unharmed and helped to get supplies for us, it's the least you can do."
She sighed heavily, "Fine, but he leaves when I say so, and I don't want him near you at night."
Violet smiled and hugged her in return, "Thank you, thank you! You don't know how this means to me!"
Clem smiled back, "If this makes you happy, Vi, then I won't take this away from you. But promise me something."
"Anything."
"Promise me that you won't ever let him hurt you, ever."
"I promise."
While everyone else was sitting down at one of the picnic tables talking to the other kids, Moo sat alone wrapping Snowy's paw up. He was glad it wasn't a major wound.
He soon saw the same brunette coming towards him. He believed her name was Clementine if he wasn't mistaken. He didn't know why she was so hostile towards him when he was with Violet, but whatever it was, he didn't like it.
"Moo, right?" she asked as he barely nodding, "Violet told me what you did."
He just stayed silent having nothing to say.
"And... I really appreciate it, we agreed that you and the others can stay here as long as you guys work like the rest of us here, can we do that?"
He just nodded.
"Oh, one more thing, I know you're Violet's friend and all but I have conditions."
He raised a brow.
"I don't want you near Violet at night times."
"Wait, why?" he asked out of anger and curiosity.
"I don't really know you and it's been a while since you seen Violet, so I don't want you seeing her during the night for... reasons."
She doesn't think that I'll possibly try to do something to her?
"You two can still see each other during the day, but not at night, got it?"
"I guess..." he grumbled.
She smiled, "Great, I'll get someone to clean out a couple of those rooms for you guys to sleep in, cool with you?"
Again, he nodded.
She looked down at Smokey and frowned, "Hey, sorry I barked at you, I get your dog was trying to protect you, Rosie's that way too."
He shrugged, "He'll be fine, sometimes he can be a big baby."
She smirked, "Guess, I'll see you around, then. I'm Clem by the way."
"You can call me Moo, and I guess I'll see you around then too, Clem."
Later on that day, Moo had loaded his things in the cleared out room while Snowy took a nap on the floor.
The room could've fit about four people considering there were two bunk beds. It has a dresser in between them and a small bathroom from across the room where he slept. It was decorated with sports posters all over the wall. Probably belonged to some students who went here, this used to be a school after all. The walls and ceiling rotted a little but nothing too bad since he could see clearly that the room was painted an eggshell color. The bed that he laid in was comfy.
Not as comfortable as the one back home.
He looked up and saw Violet walk in smiling as he smiled back.
"Hey, you," Moo spoke as he continued unpacking his clothes, "where've you been?"
"Had to go see about my Blossom, she's been missing me so much."
He cocked his head with curiosity, "Who's Blossom?"
She widened her eyes, "Oh shit! I'm so stupid, I meant to tell you that I... um... have a daughter."
Moo gaped mouth wide open as he almost dropped his clothes on Snowy.
Daughter?!! How could she have a daughter?! Unless...
"Violet... I... didn't know you had a..." he cleared his throat almost not wanting to say it, "...boyfriend"
"Um . . . Blossom was the result of an... incident about a year ago."
"Incident, what incident?"
Violet looked down fidgeting her hands, "Um... I'll just tell you later."
This "incident", he needed to know, but he'll leave it alone for her sake... for now.
"What did you need?"
She stepped in closing the door behind her, "I just wanted to say I'm really glad I'm with you again."
He chuckled walking up at her cupping the side of her cheek, "I am too."
She touched his hand and sighed, "You know, I felt so alone for a while, now, I don't."
"Me neither."
As the two stared at each other for a minute, Moo slowly leaned in aiming for her lips until the door opened and the two quickly backed away from each other staring awkwardly at each other.
Wait, why did Violet back up? Did she know what I was about to do?
It was Storm who walked in with her things with the most odd expression.
"Uh... what were you two doing?"
Violet spoke first, "We were just talking, and now I'm about to leave."
She quickly walked out of the room before Moo looked annoyed and Storm looking quite pissed.
"What hell was that?" she almost exclaimed, "what did I say back at home?"
Moo sighed heavily, "Yeah, yeah, I know, I bet you're gonna tell it to me like you're reading me the fucking Miranda rights, aren't you?"
"Matias, you were about to kiss her!"
He scoffed, "No I wasn't, we just hugged and just pulled away, that's it, Ms. Paranoid."
"Whatever, just know you're not gonna sleep with her just to satisfy your dirty fantasies like those brainless dumb whores back at home."
"So hugging is considered fucking now? I'm learning so much today."
"You idiot!" Storm growled, "You know what? I don't have time for your games, Matias, I just came to drop my shit here and come and get you for dinner."
He rolled his eyes, "Great, we're roommates now, huh, it brings back some great memories, don't it?"
"Shut up," she grumbled, "I told you I don't wanna ever speak of that place again."
"Only difference was we were held against our will," Moo pointed out bluntly.
She sighed, "Just come on, I'm getting sick of talking to you."
Moo just shrugged following her out the door.
Mostly everyone was sitting at the same table that night. Both Izzy and Sophie was busy talking to Louis as he shuffled while just sat ate while looking at Moo as he ate alone.
Violet knew he was like this around new people or others in general just she was. Only people bothered him more than her. Her eyes shot up when she saw AJ walking to his table sitting across from him. Before she could stop him from bothering him it was already too late.
"Hi," AJ chirped, "what's your name?"
"Moo," he said looking up at him, "and you?"
"AJ, I like your pictures."
He raised a brow, "What pictures?"
"On your arms, they're cool, how'd you get them like that?"
Moo realized he was talking about the wolf tattoos on his muscular arms, "Oh! Thanks, they're some of my tattoos I did."
"Ta-toos, do you think you could draw some on me?"
"Maybe when you're older," Moo laughed out loud, "but when you do, just know that they hurt like hell."
As Violet sat watching the two talk, Louis waved his hand in front of her face getting her attention.
"Hellooo, earth to Vi, did you hear the first time?"
She shook her head, "Huh, what?"
"I said we're about to play War, you in?"
"Oh, yeah, yeah, but how do we play this one?"
"Oh simple, since we never met your sister and friend before, they're gonna be the star contestants."
Violet furrowed her brows at that. She didn't know how Storm would feel but she knows Moo was really sensitive about certain questions.
"Um... okay but are sure you want-"
She was interrupted by Louis calling Moo over for the game. She saw him look up at Louis with a blank expression then went over to the table with AJ following behind him.
Please no stupid questions.
He sat down beside Violet looking away from anyone across from him as Louis passed out the cards.
"So how do play this game?" Storm asked.
"Simple, whoever has the higher cards gets to ask a question like if you and Moo have a higher card than us, you guys get to answer the question, but if you have the lowest cards we get to ask the question, almost like we're in teams."
"Sounds great," Storm smiled while Louis passed out the cards.
When everyone had their own little deck, they flipped a card over, seeing who had the highest card. They noticed that Louis had the highest card as Violet was about to scream inside.
"So, this is for Storm."
Please nothing stupid, please nothing stupid.
"How'd you get your name? Is it a nickname."
Storm shook her head, "Nope, it's real, it's funny really. Our mom named us after each of some of her favorite things like her favorite weather is when it's storming, her favorite flower is a violet, and her favorite gem is a sapphire."
Clem smiled, "Aw, that's cute."
I didn't know that...
They flipped over another one and saw that Storm had the highest card now.
So far, so good.
"What's your favorite thing to do?"
"Easy, it used to be playing the piano most of the time, but ever since I met Clem and having the kids, my thing is to do is to spend time with them," he kissed Clem on the cheek as she chuckled nervously.
After that, they flipped over another card and Violet noticed Clem had the highest card. She looked up at Moo who's attention was nowhere towards her. Violet's heart was racing as there were a million questions you ask just by looking at him.
"Um... Moo, is blue and purple your favorite color?"
This got his attention as he slowly turned to face her, "Hmm?"
"Your dreads, I like the tips of them, are those your favorite colors?"
"They were meant to be red and orange, but I was confused about the color dye bottles, I don't which is which out of my 'good' eye."
She cocked her head, "How? You don't seem blind in that eye."
"Well... I'm not but I'm... I can't see color from this eye."
Clem gasped feeling guilty, "You're colored blind, I'm so sorry! I don't know what to say."
"I could see color in this eye," he pointed to his left scarred eye, "but I lost it during a fight and now I'm stuck having to see nothing but black and white in my right eye."
"Shit, I'm sorry."
"Don't be, that person didn't get to live that after that."
Wait, what did he mean by that?
"Uh... okay then..."
Everyone flipped over a card and then looked around to see who had the highest and saw that it was Louis again
"Wow, two times," he chuckled, "but this time, I have a question for Moo here."
Oh god...
"So, how did you come to know our friend, Vi?"
He smiled at that, "I don't really wanna get into details because we're probably gonna be here all night. But we were in the same daycare together, we were both awkward around the other kids so this lady ended up pairing us up for a game; shit I forgot what the game was. Anyways we were just silent around each other throughout the whole game until I said I liked her hair. Stupid, I know. She just smiled."
Violet wondered how he still remembers that.
"I sat with her at lunch time which was just the two of us anyway, and I just sat there running my big mouth while she just listened. And then we both told each other that neither of us had any friends. So I asked her does she wanna be friends and she said yes. I think that was the happiest day of my life."
Mine's too.
Louis grinned, "It sounded like you two have been friends for a long time."
"We have, until she was sent here to this fucked place, but hey, it's fine."
"Matias!" Storm hissed at him as he just rolled his eyes ignoring him.
"What? I'm pretty sure she was fine with her getting her eyes burnt with no one to help her. Yeah, this sounds like paradise for her."
Clem started to glare menacingly at him, "We didn't come here to pick fights, Moo, so shut up like you've been doing and go on with the game."
"How can I when you people have done nothing but treat her so badly," he spat back, "I can tell."
"Moo, its fine," Violet tried to calm him, "I'm fine, I'm well taken care of."
"If she was with us back in town, she'd more cared for, she'd be happier!"
"Matias, sit down and shut up!!" Storm kept yelling at him.
"She's my friend!" he exclaimed viciously, "she's my family, she was my everything until you took her away from me!!"
"That's enough, Moo!!" Violet yelled at him making him be quiet and the rest of the three.
She didn't want to hear anymore of this, she didn't realize how jealous Moo really was about her group. Violet got up from the table with nothing else to say heading back to the dorms to clear her head.
Moo soon left too going to the dorms as well. With Storm, Clem and Louis left, Louis just sat there awkwardly feeling a little bit guilty.
"Um... did I say something wrong?"
Violet slammed her door behind her as she took breaths trying to come to terms of what happened.
Moo just lashed out for no reason. She's never seen him like that before and it was kinda... scary. He had his moments every now and then, but nothing as major as that.
What's gotten into him? He's always so... calm, what happened to him?
Her head shot up when she saw him burst through the door, his face red with fury.
Violet started to back away a little, "M-Moo, please, whatever this is, stop it."
"You would rather live here than with us," he growled lowly, "you wanted to be away from us, didn't you?"
"That's not what I said, Moo," Violet grabbed his hand trying to calm him down, "I never wanted to leave you, I never asked for this, but they became my family too."
"Family doesn't let family get hurt, and look what they done to you."
She sighed, "If you let me explain it more you'll see it's not all their fault."
"They let those fucking monsters take you!" he exclaimed, "We would never let you go, never!"
She touched his cheek, "And I would never let you go neither, I never should of tried to forget about you."
He looked away, "I just wanna protect you, is that so much to ask?"
She turned his head looking straight into his eyes, "I'm not a kid anymore, Moo, I know you want to but I can take care of myself."
He shook his head, "I respect your wishes, but I'm your best friend, you can't possibly want me to go again; I can't leave you, why can't you understand?"
Violet didn't want Moo to get the wrong idea but she didn't need this coddling treatment, especially from her friend.
She turned her back from walking over to Blossom's crib, "Just leave, Moo, my daughter doesn't need this shit so just go calm down somewhere."
His expression softened at the mention of Blossom and just sighed heavily walking to the door.
"Sure, I'll leave," he mumbled looking back at glaring at her with teary eyes, "Just like Dakota did to me.
Before she attempted to comfort him again he sprinted out the room as Violet tried to chase after him.
"Moo, wait!" she called out, but he didn't come.
This was all such a shit ton of mess. Moo had turned into something she never thought was possible. She needed to find the reason for why he just broke down like that. And also, it was clear that he stayed envious of her other friends at Ericson's, something he now made loud and clear.
But her biggest question was who the hell was Dakota?
