Miguel, you can't keep doing this to me," Victoria kept sobbing heavily while curled up in Miguel's bed, "I never did anything to you to deserve this!"
Miguel whipped his head around glaring as he slipped back on his pants, "you're saying nothing but bullshit," he hissed lowly, "you caused me so much pain over the years, I believe you deserve more than what you're gettin' if I'm being honest."
More tears started to run down Victoria's cheeks, "What else was I supposed to do? Stay there and let you hurt me and my children some more?!"
"They're my children, Tori, every. Single. Last. One," he chuckled knowing this infuriated her more, "face it, I came inside you before . . . he did," he looked down and growled at even the thought of Hugo making him feel bitter.
She scoffed, "Why won't you just get over that? Matéo's not you're son no matter how much you deny it."
"But blood tests don't lie, Tori, the deal was that when he was eighteen he got to take a blood test," he reminded her making her roll her eyes, "with even a more sweet deal that when I prove he's mine, he stays here and I let all of you go."
"What if . . . he isn't . . .?"
He narrowed his eyes into angry slits, "if for some reason that boy isn't mine, I will give you a slow and painful death, and then I'll kill him too just get rid of that bastard's bloodline for good."
Victoria breathed heavily not knowing that Miguel's deep hatred for Hugo would be this deep to where he would kill his own son.
"N-no!" she cried, "you can go ahead and kill me, but please, don't hurt my Matéo!"
"Well, Tori, that all depends on when he gets here."
When Miguel slid on a shirt and knock came at the door. He groaned in annoyance walking up to it cracking it to see who it was. It turned to be Dixon a couple of spies beside him with Miguel assuming they were bringing news.
"Sir," Dixon spoke clearing his throat, "these two had word on the mission you sent the others on."
One of them stepped forward, "Sir, they got her."
Miguel's lips curled up into a wide smile while Victoria was confused about who they captured.
"I knew they were the best damn spies I ever had," he chuckled, "and, I swear, this girl better is the damn key to getting that boy over here."
"Oh, don't worry," the second one spoke, "all the girls he's been with he seems very attached to this one, and with her gone he'll wonderin' the damn place like a stray dog lookin' for food, and with Cat still lookin' for him to turn him into us, we'll win this fucking lottery."
"And one of them told us they had a history together so I guess it wouldn't be much of a struggle to get her over here."
"W-wait, who are you guys talking about?" Victoria asked worryingly knowing that they were talking about Moo but praying that it wasn't who she thinks it is that they've captured.
Miguel turned to her and smirked, "Our big-ticket to finally getting this boy over here."
As the morning sun flared brightly through the curtained windows Moo rolled over to block out the faded ray of light. His eyes fluttered open to the sound of Blossom crying and Smokey's whining. He also noticed that Violet wasn't beside her as well.
He got up yawning stretching his arms assuming she was probably in the kitchen or tending to her daughter. When he put on a shirt and headed to the living room he found out she wasn't there, Blossom was still in her pen crying while Smokey stood on his hind legs looking down whining in concern. Confused, he first went over to Blossom's pen picking her up from her pen then patted her back comfortingly.
"Hey, it's alright, Blossy," he cooed, "I bet your mommy's in the kitchen."
But as soon as he stepped into the kitchen she wasn't there either.
Now Moo began to worry not knowing where else she could be beside the balcony at this point. He quickly walked to the darkroom opening up the glass windows to the balcony and she was still nowhere to be seen.
"Vi?" he began to hyperventilate with Blossom still crying in his arms, "this shit isn't funny you can stop it now."
No answer.
"Vi!" he started to yell out of fear and frustration, "Violet, I'm serious, knock it off!"
Still no answer.
"Violet!!"
Tears started to flood in eyes as he began looking through his whole apartment looking again to see if this was some sick joke, but still, he didn't hear her voice nor find her anywhere.
He sat down on the couch with tears running down his cheeks as could feel his heartbreaking. Was being on the run alongside him was too overwhelming for her that she would leave him and her child? He didn't want to believe she left him and Blossom; he refused to believe it.
He cried even more thinking about the same ordeal between him and . . . Valeria.
She promised him that they would one day get married, start a family, be with him forever; she promised she would love always no matter what . . . until she found someone else and ended being with him showing not even a slither of regret, no remorse for leaving him.
After that, he swore he would never be in another relationship again up until he met Violet . . .
No, Violet's not her, she's not! She couldn't be! he kept telling himself refusing to believe she would leave him the same way Valeria did.
And she promised him she wouldn't leave him again.
He kept denying she wasn't the kind of person to do this with another part wanting to think otherwise. The biggest reason why she wouldn't leave was that Blossom was here and she didn't seem like the person who just leaves their child even if was him. Then again, who else would she leave her with besides him if she did decide to abandon them? These thoughts kept overwhelming him until his head started he got a headache, it was ridiculous.
As Blossom's cries kept interrupting his thoughts, he couldn't help but hold her tightly in his arms while his years l tears kept falling but not as much. He wanted to look for Violet as soon as possible but refused to leave Blossom alone here. He cared for her and wanted to protect her as much as he wanted to protect Violet.
He may have probably failed at that, but he wouldn't fail on Blossom.
"Shh . . . hey, Blossy, everything's going to be okay," whispered softly slowly calming her down, "I'm not gonna leave you, I'll find your momma, until then I'm not gonna let anyone hurt you or let you go," For now, Moo was going to wait for one of Ashley's daily visits before he went on the trail for Violet.
Even though he hated the thought of having to leave her.
After three long hours of waiting impatiently, a knock finally came at the door.
Moo was in the living room all this time watching over Blossom. Her already fed her breakfast and put her down for another nap, after that, he couldn't take his eyes off as he was scared to leave her alone, not even getting up for a smoke. Smokey mostly stayed beside the pen watching her like a hawk as well, Moo didn't know why but he sweet that he too cared for her.
He got up from the couch he slowly cracked the door open seeing Ashley who was out of breath with a worried expression.
"Sorry I'm late, Moo," he apologized, "mom had an emergency meeting about spies in—hey what's wrong? It looks like you've been crying."
Moo's face frowned shutting his eyes tightly turning away, "Violet, she . . . she . . . she's gone . . ."
"What?!" he almost cried in disbelief, "what do you mean?"
"When I woke up I couldn't find this morning and she hasn't been back yet, where ever the hell she is."
Moo let Ashley in as he started to breathe heavily, "S-she never told me ANYTHING about leaving, and, if she did leave, I would at least knew about it!"
"She didn't tell me anything either . . ."
"I don't understand, d-did you two like get into an argument or something, or at least did something that would make her leave??"
He paused remembering what he tried to do her yesterday, but they talked about it and she didn't even seem upset. Then again, she might've just said that to make him happy, as usual. He started to blink out more tears at the thought of him being the reason she would run away from him without warning.
He looked up at Ashley who was pacing rapidly with his hand over his forehead as if he was trying to think about something. He paced and paced for a good while until he quickly turned to Moo looking like a deer in a headlight.
"Moo, did anyone come here last night . . . ?" he asked quietly his voice wavering."
Moo shrugged, "I . . . I really don't know, I barely even heard Smokey barking last night."
Ashley sighed aware of Moo's sleep condition, sometimes he would be late for training because he slept in. Once he fell into a deep sleep you couldn't wake him up as if he was a dead body that never turned.
"I know this might sound crazy, but I think I know what might've happen to her while you were out."
Moo raised a brow.
"I told you about why was late with the whole meeting and shit, at first I thought it was just her paranoia again, but yesterday before the lights went out heard people talking about two strange men wandering here."
"Why just addressing it now?"
"There were only a few people that saw them thinking it wasn't a big deal and told mom early this morning," Ashley rolled his eyes, "of course, she took this seriously and called for a meeting about these strange men."
Moo cocked his head, "Where does this lead to?"
Ashley bit his lip looking down, "I think those men . . . are Miguel's spies . . ."
His eyes widened at such a conclusion, "What?! How would you know that? They could have just been wanderers that just got in."
"I would agree with you on that part until I found this," he pulled out a dagger that had an engraved marking of a spiked backbone in half, "you and I both know who this marking belongs to."
He nodded stiffly knowing exactly what the marking was; the marking of the Broken Backbone.
"I found it in the hall on the way up here near your apartment," he frowned, "Moo, you know those spies are always watching your every move, nobody here may know you're here, but those spies sure hell does."
His jaw tightened at the thought of Miguel sending those assholes to watch him like a five-year-old child. He just wanted him to leave him alone and go on about their lives, was that so much to ask?
But what Ashley was saying Moo prayed it wasn't leading up to what he might think he was saying.
"Moo . . ." Ashley took a deep breath looking deeply into his eyes, "it's most likely that they took Violet . . ."
Moo's heart almost came to a stop as he took started to put the pieces together. He knew it wasn't like her to leave without question, he just knew it. She had to have outside because she thought it was Ashley because Smokey would have mauled them to death if they had stepped foot in here. It came to the knife Ashley found in the hallway of his floor, they had to have dropped it without noticing it.
He came to the realization that Miguel wasn't taking Violet to make him suffer; he was using her as the perfect bait to lure him in . . .
Moo sat on the couch with his hands over his face as tears were sliding down his cheeks. He knew he shouldn't have let her get wrapped up in his mess, and now, because of him, she was Miguel's hostage along with their mothers and his brother.
This is all my fucking fault, he kept repeating in his head, I shouldn't have let her come here with those bastards on my ass all the time.
His nostrils then flared as he grit his teeth at even the thought of Miguel. He was so tired of him taking people he loved away from him, wanting to know his every move; that he was even in his life.
But something was going to be done, he promised that he was going to make the asshole regret he ever took his sunshine away from him; they all were.
It all ended now.
He got up marching to his room with Ashley looking up at him with confusion and a bit concerned not knowing what he was about to do. He put on his boots and grabbed his coat slung his machete on his back then stormed back into the living room with his hand on the front door. Ashley tightly grabbed his arm as Moo turned to glare at him.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, where the hell do you think you're going?"
"What the fuck does it look like?" Moo growled, "I'm going to make things right."
"But you're wanted! They'll lock you up and mom will give you up without hesitation!"
Moo looked down and sighed, "That's the point."
Ashley blinked, "W-what?"
"I don't wanna keep fucking things for everyone, I'm the one who started this whole shit anyway. So many lives were taken here ever since Catalina took others and for what? False reasoning? Everything's my fault, Ash, and the only way I can make it up is by giving myself up to save not only our people but our home add well."
"But—"
"Let me do this, Ash, I know if you were in the same scenario you would do the same thing too no matter how bad your mom treated you as a kid."
Ashley paused frowning at that knowing that everything Moo was saying was right.
But still, he couldn't bare to see the dread head give himself to a ruthless leader like Miguel.
"But, Moo, what if . . . what if he kills you . . .?" Ashley's voice cracked trying not to cry, "what about, Cobra, Coyote, your mother; what about Vi . . .? She needs you."
He squeezed his eyes shut add he was fighting back tears, "Then . . . I guess that's it . . ." he really didn't want to leave them, but he had no other choice.
He looked back at Blossom who was still sleep in her pen then walked up to it reaching down holding her in his arms. He felt so bad for having to leave her, he wanted to be the best father he could for her even though he was barely an adult.
But some things aren't meant to be.
As tears started to spill out his forehead against hers his eyes squeezed tightly shut trying really hard not to come to tears.
"I'm so sorry I have to do this, flower," he sniffled, "but I have to do what's right to get your mommy back."
He kissed her forehead then gave her to Ashley before walking up to the door. He noticed Smokey trotting behind him until Moo put his leg in front of the door stopping him.
"No, bud, you're staying here," at that the wolf whimpered looking up at Moo with a pleading expression, Moo smirked crouching down petting Smokey chuckling softly, "We been through a lot together, haven't we? But this is where the line end for us, you'll always be my best friend," Smokey then rested his paw in Moo's hand as Moon began to smile, "I'll miss you too, bud."
Moo then got up looking back at Ashley who didn't even hide his tears with his whole face soaked.
"Make sure to take care of those two before Vi and the others get back, alright," as Moo opened the door Ashley's hand touched his shoulder stopping him but Moo didn't turn around with one foot out the door.
"Moo . . . " he breathed, " . . . don't you dare die on me, alright . . .?"
He still didn't turn around staying quiet until he had only this to say: "Bye, Ash."
Moo shrugged his hand off his shoulder before slowly walking out with a heavy sigh closing the door behind him. He turned to look back at his little home on last time then walked away going downstairs ready for the worst to come.
As Moo walked down the streets heading to the city hall he froze at the sound of a woman screaming. He turned to see where it was coming from, but when he did he almost went pale.
There was a crowd of people at the city hall watching Catalina with the barrel of her rifle to the back of a badly beaten woman's head with her finger just an inch away from pulling the trigger.
He breathed heavily not wanting to see another pointless made by Cat. But he so afraid of what might happen if she saw him. If she was doing this to innocent people he couldn't imagine the grotesque punishment that was in store for him.
No, I have to do something or else she dies for nothing . . .
"Another traitor among us!" Catalina's voice roared through the crowd, "you guys know what this means!"
"STOP!!"
Moo's cried before she could pull the trigger. He went pale as all eyes were on his with Catalina's look being the most horrifying. She stared at him like a savage that has been looking for a meal for over a week, he stepped back trembling as she threw down the woman as she still looked at him with that crazed look.
"I knew you'll eventually crawl back here," she sneered not taking her eyes off of him, "Coyote can't even shut her fucking mouth even if it saved her."
"Cat, I just came to set things right," he spoke up, "I don't wanna make things worse than the way they are."
She narrowed her eyes into slits, "I bet you are."
With just the snap of her fingers, soldiers were rushing up to him in a flash. As he tried to back up one of them hit him on the side of his face hard enough for him to fall down to the ground. He tried to get back up but was stopped by a hard kick in his stomach making him cough up blood.
"Ain't nowhere to run now, boy," one of them whispered coldly in his ear then got up pressing his boot on the side of his cheek.
As much as Moo really wanted to fight back he chose to endure it as he didn't want to make himself more of a villain than he already was.
She saw Catalina walk up to him with a murderous glare kneeling down looking at him face to face. He felt more upset than angry towards his former commander, he didn't know that she felt this way about him. He knew if she liked him the way he thought she did she shouldn't be letting her men harm him the way they did.
He thought about the times she would make work harder than everyone else, train long hours, and the countless bickering she did whenever he did something wrong. All those elements should have told him something, but he would always dismiss because he was the youngest of the fighters, not because of Cat's supposed hatred towards him.
Moo couldn't have felt anymore betrayed.
He saw her frown slightly, "Hmm, I think I'll have a little fun with you until I turn you in."
She kicked him on the side of his face as he rolled over at the hard blow, he tasted nothing but blood at this point and feeling the lingering pain in his stomach. He dared to try to get back up only to get a hard punch to the face falling back onto the ground, she smiled at the sight of the soldiers kicking him in the ribs and back while he kept roaring in agony.
"Stop quit hurting him!!" a voice called from the crowd.
Cat turned to see Raven bursting through the crowd trying to make her way to Moo. Unfortunately, some of the soldiers had stopped her before she could make it to her brother. She used all her strength to try to break free from their grasp, but it was no use.
"Stop this shit, Cat, he doesn't deserve this, let him go! Let him the fuck go!!!!" she kept pleading as she sobbed heavily. She ignored the girl's pleading as she still the soldiers torture Moo.
Then suddenly, she took her riffle aiming it towards him, and then everyone stayed silent when the gun went off. Raven could do nothing but scream in horror and sadness at what Cat had done to Moo. The soldiers backed away seeing him lay flat on the ground as a pool of blood began to form on his upper left side.
Moo had felt the bullet pierce through the upper left side of his chest. Luckily, it didn't go through his heart as Cat intended, but breaths did become shallow as he was losing blood quickly.
"Now this shows that there are consequences for your actions," she hissed at the crowd, "I will get rid of every last fucking traitor if it's the last thing I—"
Out of nowhere, a gunshot ranged out making the crowd scream in terror as they scattered like ants losing their home. Moo didn't know who got shot until Catalina's body fell in front of him with a gunshot wound through her forehead. He here the soldiers cry out and yelling at each other about looking for the unknown assassin leaving Moo there to rot.
He then heard more gunshots being fired hearing voices he never heard in the town. He started to feel dizzy with everything going a blur, too beat up and weak to even stand to his feet.
He wondered if people were actually raiding the town right now with him being too helpless to get up. Tears formed in his eyes thinking about Violet and how he may never see her again one last time before he died.
"I'm sorry, Vi," he cried softly, "I'm so sorry I got you wrapped up in this shit, I wish I could have told you that I . . ."
As he started to drift off he heard one soldier backing away from a man that Moo didn't know who it was until the soldier spoke.
"Miguel, take your group and leave us!" he growled until he got a bullet to the head as well.
Then the last words Moo heard was this . . .
"Not without my son."
