Ashley had given the signal, now the the back was a complete warzone, everyone was distracted.
The perfect time to make their move.
Ashley had tied the horse to the tree so he wouldn't get spooked and run off. He first handed everyone a walkie talkie before entering through the broken gates then they cautiously through with their weapons for anyone about to come at them. Ashley led them with his shot gun rifle in hand looking at all of his surroundings. So far there was just walkers coming in by the noise from the fighting, but so many were starting to draw in.
It looked like there was a time limit set for them.
When they got to the gates their luck ran plentiful when there was no one guardian them and they were busted open.
Probably some of the soldiers that forgot to go to the back with the others.
They all ran in stopping at the sight of people running for their lives at the rain of bullets, mothers trying to protect their children, and others helping the wounded get to safety. Ashley didn't know that some of his soldiers would be shooting from the front.
Nor even told them.
He rolled his eyes in frustration knowing that they would follow exactly what Catalina or Marisol ordered them to do.
But it didn't matter now. As they walked Storm had to gently pull Sophie when she was becoming frozen at the sight of innocent people and children being shot down like prey. She started to hyperventilate heavily becoming weak to her knees before Storm could help her to continue.
"It's alright, Sophe," she whispered making her look away.
Izzy's legs started to stiffen some when they were already close to the entrance. She didn't what she'd do to herself if she ever saw him again.
"Alright you, two," Ashley stopped turning to Storm and Coyote, "you guys remember where the medical house was, right?"
"Yes," they accidentally said at the same time with Coyote chuckling to herself and Storm just rolled her eyes.
"Just remember, it's close to the back so make sure to be extra cautious when walking around there," he hugged both of them tightly before nudging them to move on, "now move out and make sure to back alive!"
At that the two instantly began to sprint their way to their assigned location leaving Ashley and the other girls behind.
He turned to Sophie and Izzy pulling out the map and pointed at the marked location of where Marisol and the others would be kept captive.
"What about the key?" Sophie asked almost forgetting that they probably needed something to get in with.
"I have you covered," Ashley winked, "just go to the basement, find a place to hide if anyone except for us coming your way or notify me through the radio, stay put until I get there or either go to a place where I want you guys to meet, 10-4?"
They both nodded.
"Let's move out."
"Victoria!!" Dixon screamed as he was running through the hall leading to Miguel's room.
He knew there was fighting going on outside but ignored it worried to death on Miguel did to Victoria. He doubted that Nicóle, Lynx, or Cobra knew anything about it since they probably be hunting down their father by now.
But Dixon was glad not wanting them to see a gruesome sight.
When he got to the room he immediately halted rapidly taking a row of keys shakily putting the one to the hole as his heart sped faster every minute. He gasped excitedly when the door unlocked then flung the door wide open frantically looking around.
Before he could look anymore around he screamed in shock at the sight of Victoria as she jumped into his arms sobbing heavily on his chest.
Dixon saw there was no sign of bruises or cuts on her but she was also covered in blood, guts, and pieces of brains like Miguel.
"Are you alright?" he asked Victoria hugging her comfortingly.
"Sí, sí, I am, but she's not!" Dixon didn't what she pointed at until his eyes fixated on a body laying on the floor at the head of the bed.
The body was covered in blood stabbing all over the carpet floor, the head was just spewing with brains, and there was a knife beside it with its blood on it.
"Tried to save her, I really did, but she didn't listen me," Victoria sniffled guiding him to the body.
When he saw it his eyes went round like a deer's in front of a headlight covering his mouth taking a couple steps back.
"Oh my God," he whispered to himself taking a few steps back.
"She just burst in without question and just starting yelling too much," she wiped away some of her tears with her bloody hands, "I told her Miguel wasn't having it and run while she still can, but she . . . she just wouldn't listen."
Dixon kneeled down revealing a face behind the their long raven hair then blinked one who the person really was.
Sabrina . . . ?
He saw her face was in terror by her bulging wide eyes as if she saw a ghost and her lips were parted with Dixon assuming she was most likely screaming for her life before she was killed.
Dixon honestly never liked Sabrina, but he thought no one deserved this much of a grizzly fate, not even her.
"I know I shouldn't be this upset," Victoria murmured looking away from the body, "she's brought me as much pain as Miguel did; he even left me and my children for her. She was selfish, jealous, full of herself, and only wanting Miguel for his wealth and power. But I can't ignore the fact that she was the mother to their niños just like me."
Dixon rubbed her back calming her down but started to escape her once more.
"How am I going to explain this to Coyote?"
"I don't know," he sighed.
She sniffled grabbing some papers of the bed staring at them blankly before bursting into tears again.
"He's his, Dixon, he's his!" she cried.
He raised a brow, "Who's who?"
"Matéo! Matéo is Miguel's son!" she threw the papers aside, "all this time I wanted him to be Hugo's, but I kept denying the facts on how he could possibly be Miguel's. And with all the evidence he showed me, I'm still denying it."
Dixon started to wonder if Victoria wasn't harmed, then why did want he Moo and Violet in the same room together when she was allowed to leave with the others?
He flinched when Victoria rose up marching to the door. She looked back at Dixon looking at him with knitted brows.
"Can please show me where they are?" she begged, "I can't let him do this."
"Look, there's all types of shit going on outside making this the perfect time to help you guys escape," he tried to reason.
"But I have to see him!" she exclaimed.
"I know, that's why I'm going to get them out for you," he walked up to her grabbing her hand looking into her teary eyes, "I promised Nicóle that nothing bad would ever happen to you while you're still here. And I promise that you're son and that girl gets out the same way as well."
She blinked for a few moments when he mentioned Nicóle looking down to her shuffling feet. She sighed losing motion in her arm before looking back up at him.
"Alright," she breathed through her nostrils, "but make sure they make it out safe."
Dixon nodded, "I will."
When Victoria opened the door they wasted no time to get out of the metallic smelling room making their escape.
"'Bout time you idiots came sooner," Marisol sneered making Nicóle sigh and Lynx roll his eyes.
"Don't you get that we're helping you, Mary?" Lynx growled frustratingly.
"Ha! That's rich coming from you," she laughed sarcastically, "I'll escort myself to the torture chambers, thank you very much."
"It's true, Mary," Cobra informed Marisol's face softening, "Dixon is helping mamá, Matéo, Violet out."
Marisol quickly shut her mouth at hearing they were also helping Moo and her daughter escape.
But she narrowed her eyes thinking that this all might sound too good to be true, even though her former deputy even admitted it, but was cautious since Cobra was related to them after all
"This isn't a damn trick, is it?" she questioned harshly.
They all quickly shook their heads.
"I swear on my life, no harm will come to you or the others as long as you're safe with us," Nicóle informed guiding her out the room.
Cobra furrowed his brows at his leader, "Please, Mary, I know you don't trust them and believe me I kinda don't either," Lynx and Nicóle looked at each other offendedly, "but they're our best shot of making it home free and getting the kids back."
She sighed heavily knowing that Cobra was making sense and was right—as usual. One of the reasons why she chose him as her first deputy.
"Alright, I'll bite," she grumbled, "but if this is a fucking trick, I get to do whatever I want to them?"
Cobra nodded, "Anything."
She chuckled turning to Lynx and Nicóle, "Alright guys, lead us to freedom."
As Storm and Coyote ran through the gunfire Coyote quickly grabbed Storm's arm stopping her before she could move anymore.
"What?" Storm hissed.
Coyote pointed forward at a large wooden guest house, "This is it, that's the place."
Storm raised a brow at it, "You sure? It looks like a dump."
"Yes, yes, now come on! We can't waste anymore time!"
She tugged Storm's arm guiding her to the medical house. When making it to the porch they immediately stopped when a man bursted from the door his face scorching in anger. Storm went for her pistol until Coyote yanked her aside running to side of the porch jumping into the high bushes.
Before Storm could belittle her Coyote covered her gaping mouth to silence her.
"He's unfamiliar," Coyote whispered thinking out loud, "Miguel rarely lets anyone in his group, especially the soldier ranks."
Storm slapped her hand away, "Okay, a new guy, so what?"
"He probably doesn't know me so I can go out there talk to him asked about Matéo or who all he seen in there."
"What, are you crazy?!" she exclaimed quietly, "he could fucking pop our asses, he looks pissed already."
"Just trust me, he's doesn't looked armed and if I say who I am he'll stand down."
Storm's stomach turned at the idea, she never liked Coyote's logic and ideas because of them always being out the ordinary or just plain ridiculous.
But if this was going to get them closer to Moo they had no choice but to take the risk.
"Hurry up," she sighed heavily making Coyote squeal in joy, "but be super, super careful."
"I'll be as careful as I can," Coyote giggled.
"I don't think that's reassuring but okay."
As Coyote cautiously crept from out the bushes she saw the man just roaring in anger picking up any rocks he saw and threw them in different directions. She started to have second thoughts on encountering him, but she really wanted to take this risk for Moo
She cleared her throat, "Excuse me!"
He instantly whipped his head around to face her with expression quickly softening.
Coyote noticed he didn't look all that old guessing that he was probably in his mid twenties.
"Hello, how are you?" she asked with a smile, "name's Coyote, you probably heard about around here, I'm the leader's daughter."
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm kinda new here so I don't know a lot of people," he told her with a shrug.
Coyote sighed in relief at that, "Well I hope you're making yourself at home here."
He furrowed his brows, "It's alright, good fighters, plenty of food and resources, but I liked my old group that I led a while back before I came here."
"That must have been really cool to run your own group."
"It was stressful but you can say that."
Coyote kicked dirt almost forgetting what she was going to day but found it.
"Hey, did you see a boy that was brought in here? Dread head, tall, one eyed but a looker?"
He shook his head, "No, but I was looking for him and a girl."
"A girl?"
"Yeah, she's skinny, blonde, has a patch over her right eye," he smiled up thoughtfully, "one of the most beautiful girls I've ever seen."
Coyote raised a brow at the description of the girl. She sounded very familiar to Moo's friend Coyote saw when he showed her at the supply center and at the school. She really didn't if it was really her, there could be a million girls in the world that fits the bill.
"Her name's Violet by the way."
Yeah, that's her.
"U-uh, u-um, no, I haven't seen her," she tried to keep it cool knowing that she needed to be rescued as well, "is she here?"
"Yeah, she is, I talked to her when she first got here, but we lost each other and now I'm trying to find her," she saw a small flame in his eyes, "people said this where she ran off to when after the gathering, but I looked in every section and she's no where to be seen, I'm starting to worry."
"You two must be close," she smiled as he smiled back.
"We are," he chuckled to himself, "we even had a baby together."
She gawked at this information because of her seeing that she had a baby back at the school and brought back to the town where Roxanna had her now.
She kept wondering why she never mentioned this guy before if they were in a relationship and had a child together.
"Well,", she cleared her throat, "I guess I'll check somewhere else."
He sighed, "Guess I'll do the same."
"Hey, I'll let you know if I find her," she chirped making his face light up.
"I appreciate that, baby doll," he kindly smiled as he started to walk away from the girl.
"Oh! I didn't catch your name by the way in case she's wondering who I'm talking about," she called out as still walked but turned around to face her.
"Name's Damien," he chirped, "when you find her make sure to tell her that he really wants to see her again as soon as possible."
"I will, thanks for the info!"
He didn't say anything else after that as continued walking in the opposite direction.
Coyote jumped at Storm's arm resting on her shoulder. She turned to see her face was just as ecstatic as hers was after clearly hearing on what the man was talking about.
"I can't believe she never told me that," Storm breathed unbelievably, "he's the father of Blossom."
"He seems too nice and good looking, I don't see why she wouldn't mention him."
Storm shrugged, "Well, you gotta think about it, she probably thought he was dead after they lost each other and was just too hurt to say anything."
"You're most likely right," then Coyote groaned in frustration, "but that wasn't useful right now, Moo's not in there and he doesn't even know where he is."
"Shit, dead end," she cursed to herself, "c'mon there's no use stopping, let's go find Ashley and see if had any luck."
"Got it, boss lady."
Through a long hallway downstairs Sophie and Izzy were met an eriee room at the end.
The walls were fainted yellow with spider webs in each corner, a dim blue light hung from the ceiling, it smelt of mildew, mold, and rotted food, there were old wooden tables, dusty artifacts, and old furniture that created a narrow passage way to the metal door.
Izzy almost vomited in the room while Sophie tried her best not to breathe some of the disgusting air.
"I guess they don't treat their prisoners quite good, do they?" Izzy suggested keeping her nose covered.
"Guess not," Sophie walked careful to the door, "I'm gonna see if we have any luck with this."
"Sounds good."
When Sophie got to the door she almost squealed excitedly when it was cracked open. She opened gently just enough to see looking down the dusty the stairs. She saw a dim lit candle on the floor looking around for movement.
"Hello? Anyone down here?" she called out her voice bouncing in the empty room, "Ms. Mary, Cobra, Vi? It's me, Sophia! Can you hear me?"
As she called out there was no answer from anyone of them.
Sophie's stomach churned at the thought of them being down there but their bodies was left down there to rot. But it didn't seem to turn out that way. The candle was bright enough to see in the whole room with Sophie making sure to scan the whole room a few times before coming to the conclusion that they were taken somewhere else.
"Dammit," she growled slamming the door out of frustration and worry, "they're not down there!"
Izzy's face turned white, "What?! If they're not there where else could the hell they'll be at?"
Sophie shook her head taking Izzy's arm, "Dunno, but let's go find Ashley and see if he had better luck than us."
"As long it'll get us out of this dirty ass room."
So far Ashley had roamed through the first two floors of the halls. People were locked up in their rooms and the soldiers were busy fighting outside, so it was easy to walk out in the open the way he was doing.
But he had little success on seeing any of them.
He prayed that they weren't killed off.
He took a risk by going to third floor because it being the closest to Miguel's floor according to the map. This was also where some of Miguel's strongest soldiers stayed as well, he wanted to think all of them were out but he still had an I'll feel about what he was getting into.
As he crept down he noticed that this hallway was nicer than the others he has seen. Carpeted floor, polished wooden doors to their rooms, and didn't reek of rotting corpses but instead a strong lovely scent of cherry blossom.
"Guess the guy plays favorites," he murmured to himself.
Then he heard someone coming his way.
He turned his head rapidly in different directions looking for a place to hide. The best he could find was a spot around one of the corners and just prayed nobody spotted him. He knew if he did he would've had no choice but to kill them which is the last thing he ever wanted to do.
His back was tightly pressed against the wall as his hand shakily held a knife beside him. He closed his taking a deep breath as heard the voices coming closer hoping they'll just pass right by him without noticing.
"What about Miguel? Hmm? He'll track us down!" an angry feminine voice growled.
"I see no reason," a softer-toned feminine voice told her, "he's going to let you guys go anyway, we're just speeding up the process."
"I highly doubt that for a second, we don't know what the test results are and plus, with everything going on outside Cat didn't follow his demands by not being patient and he'll most likely kill me for it."
Ashley blinked not thinking who he thought it was, aggressive, sarcastic voice, snarky attitude, and knows his mother?
"Aunt Mary!" Ashley cried happily jumping from behind the corner and confronting Mary, Cobra, and two more people he vaguely recognized.
Marisol yelped surprisingly then blinked a few times seeing if she going crazy.
"Ashley?" Marisol stared at him as if he was a ghost, "what hell are you doing here?"
"What do you think? Saving you!"
Marisol shook her head, "W-wait, Cat actually sent the soldiers here?"
Ashley winced and frowned sadly at the mention of his mother's name, especially when Marisol didn't even know that she died.
"We have no time to waste," he ignored her question then widened his eyes in realization, "shit! Sophia and Izzy are still looking for two!"
"Hey, hey, they'll be fine if they're by the basement," the girl informed, "everyone's outside anyway, for now, they're safe."
Before he sighed he jumped at the sound of his walkie-talkie making static noises before it made out a few voices coming in with loud sounds of gunfire in the background. He quickly snatched it from his belt almost dropping it before communicating.
"This is Ashley, over."
"Ash, we ran into a dead-end," he heard Storm's voice announced frantically through the gunfire, "we don't know where the hell he could be!"
"Shit! I've found Marisol and Cobra, but Violet's not with them either."
He heard Storm roar out of anger and worry before speaking to Ashley again, "Do they know anything?"
Ashley turned to the girl and the man standing beside Cobra and Marisol as the girl began to speak up.
"The deputy knows," she said, "he getting them right now as we speak," as Ashley started to look ill she quickly spoke again, "oh! Don't worry, he's with us."
Ashley sighed heavily in relief, "Thank God, well, Storm, you and Coyote go to the gates and wait at the cart. This shouldn't take long since we already found two and an allie has Moo and Violet."
"10-4."
After that, a few more voices came in as well.
"This is Sophia, over," Sophie's voice ranged out."
"Don't worry, Sophe, we found them and someone's getting Moo and Vi."
"That's great!" she exclaimed happily, "what now then?"
"Since we're close you and Izzy meet up in the living room where the exit is and wait there until further instructions."
"10-4, Ash."
He turned back to the four who had bright faces except for the man. Ashley furrowed his brows as his expression was more of sorrow and regret after talking with Sophie. Cobra noticed it too before shaking his shoulder a bit to get him to talk to him.
"I'm fine," he rasped, "let's just get you guys out."
Ashley nodded wanting to focus more on that before everyone followed him to the living room.
Down in the living room of the mansion, the chandelier light still glistened all around. It was one of the largest rooms in the house with a couple of white pillars here and there, a large plasma eighty-five inch flat-screen TV hung in the middle of the black walls, and the floors were marbled and polish along with the coffee table in front of the tan leather couches.
Overall, the room looked rarely used and looked as if nobody's touched it the last decade since dust and spider webs from different places, but was one of the ways out of the mansion.
Izzy sat in one of the chairs her body tense and her foot tapping nervously while watching Sophie pace around running her fingers through her long red hair.
"Where are they?" she whined still pacing, "they're taking forever!"
"They'll be here soon," Izzy tried to reassure her even though she wasn't calm herself by biting at her nails, "hopefully."
They rapidly turned to the nearing footsteps that that echoed through the room coming their way and immediately took out their weapons. But they were quick to put them down when they saw Ashley walk in with a big smile holding his hands up.
"Don't worry, you guys," he chirped, "it's just good 'ole Ash."
Sophie was quick to jump into his arms hugging him tightly with Izzy doing the same. Ashley hugged them back so tightly to the point where they almost couldn't breathe making the girls pull away from him.
"It's almost over," Ashley laughed statically, "we're so close to freedom!"
The two looked over Ashley's shoulder seeing Marisol and Cobra appear from around the corner, their expressions the same as his. They soon saw the man and woman that were with them standing in the doorway with the woman having a warm smile at the five being reunited with the man just staring at the girls with a pale face.
But not the just that, his eyes remained locked on Izzy.
Izzy looked at him with the same look with her lips slightly parted as she started to say something but just couldn't get the words out.
This can't be him, she thought frantically, it can't be him!
"Isabella," he breathed walking towards her, "is that really you?"
She backed away with Sophie squeezing her comfortingly.
She couldn't bare to look at him, every time she did more pain began to wash over her feeling like she's been hit by a truck.
"I told you, don't call me that," she grumbled not looking at his face, "what are you doing here, Lynx?"
"I'm making things right," he spoke softly.
She slowly turned to him with a hard glare, "I think you're a little too late for that."
Ashley stepped in the middle before blood could be spilled turning to Izzy with a nervous grin.
"So you two know each other," he pointed out chuckling weakly.
"And I wish I never did."
Lynx looked down guiltily face filled with deep regret and Izzy's heart constantly aching at the sight of him. Ashley turned to Sophie who just shook her head and sighed at the two.
When Lynx tried to reach for Izzy's hand she immediately swatted it away then walked to the door in a huff standing at the exit waiting for everyone.
"Are you guys just gonna stand there looking like frightened deer?" she said but in an unusual harsh tone.
They all felt Izzy's coldness through the whole room when she muttered those words. Ashley sighed not knowing what history the two had, but from his perspective it wasn't pretty.
But he tried not to focus on that right now, instead, he walked over to door opening it for everyone with the booming sounds of gunfire and warfare coming into the room.
He looked at everyone smiling weakly, "Our gateway to freedom."
After that, they all rushed out with no hesitation with Ashley being the last to leave and they were finally out.
