Chapter 1: The Girl

On a distant planet, a young girl screamed out in agony. The scream was so wrought with emotion, that it caused ripples to flow out from her isolated, desolate village, across the planet, and out into the solar system. As the ripples spread out into the galaxy, it passed by all manner of creature, each feeling an unexplained moment of grief, which quickly passed, until it reached a bustling city-planet, and most importantly, the temple sitting on top. This is where our story begins.

"He is too…" Mace Windu, the fearless Jedi Master began to say, when the ripples slammed into the building.

'Help me' a voice screamed out through the Force, sending each Jedi standing in the temple to their knees. The padawans and younglings, however, felt only a massive migraine start to form, as their untuned connection to the Force only sent them the intense feelings of despair, grief, and hurt, and even that was dialed down from what the Jedi felt.

The council quickly recovered, "He is too old," Master Windu finished.

"But he is…" Master Qui-Gon Jinn started, before a short, green Jedi cut him off.

"Discuss this later, we will," Grand Master Yoda firmly advised, the other Jedi nodded in agreement with their leader. "Too Naboo, you will go. Discover the identity of this assasin, you must."

Qui-Gon bowed, replying "Yes Master."

"Discover the source of this disturbance, I must," Yoda said, after Jinn, Kenobi, and the boy left.

Windu strokes his chin in thought, "Perhaps the archives recorded the approximate location," he mused.

The other Jedi nodded, "But what will we find?" Master Shaak Ti asked.

"Perhaps, a lost soul." Master Plo Koon replied.

"Perhaps," came the single word response from Yoda, "perhaps."

"Master Yoda, we have analyzed the data recorded, and I believe I have an answer to the problem you seek," The elderly Jedi librarian, Jocasta Nu, stated.

Master Yoda looked up from his meditation, "My location, where is?"

The old lady pulled out a holoprojector and turned it on, "A small planet named Morvis IV. It's population of local natives consists of mostly large game, aquatic animals of a large variety, and one intelligent species, the Elfinn."

Master Yoda leaned forward, observing the small green and blue planet, "About this race, I must know."

"They're smaller, males reaching approximately five foot seven inches, with females reaching approximately four foot nine. They appear to stop aging after hitting maturation, until they die at about one hundred fifty years, counted here, on Coruscant." Nu replied.

"Any Force abilities, do they have?" Yoda hesitantly asked.

Nu scrunched up her face in frustration, "They tend to isolate themselves, so in honesty, we have no record. Unfortunately, after detailed scans of the planet, there appears to be only one tribe, and they're rather obstinate."

Yoda stood, bowing, "As always, thank you," he said.

Nu bowed back, "It's always a pleasure, Master."

As Master Yoda walked away, he pulled out a transceiver, "Ready my ship, to Morvis IV, I must go."

F&P

Master Yoda's ship came out of hyperspace to a gorgeous sight. A beautiful green planet, with small blue lines and pools randomly stretched out across it. "Take me down, you must," he called to the pilot.

"Right away sir," the Pilot replied. The ship interior became silent, not a single person talking as it descended through the atmosphere. Suddenly the pilot called back, "Sir, there is smoke up ahead."

Yoda moved up to the front, "Trouble, it appears, I have."

One of the two temple guards in the back shifted, "Anything to worry about sir?"

"Trouble for me, it is," came the master's reply.

The other guard spoke up, "We can handle it sir."

"Believe in you, I do," Yoda paused, "but for me alone, this is."

The ship glided over a clearing, with the burnt husk of a village in the center below, "Where do you want me to land sir?" The pilot asked.

Yoda pointed off to a patch of land on the village outskirts, "Over there, you should."

"Yes sir," the ship flew over, spinning around and landing almost silently.

As the door opened, Yoda walked out of the ship, and started off down a path into the woods. "Sir, one of the guards called from the ship, "The village is in the other direction."

"A different path, I follow now. Lead me to my mission, the Force does." And with that, the grand master walked off into the woods.

A short while later, the wizened Jedi entered another clearing, in which a small temple sat overlooking the forest. "Curious, this world is," Yoda muttered to himself. He strolled up the steps, sending out his feelings to look for upcoming threats or traps. As he stepped through the door, another wave of the Force flew past him, almost bringing him to his knees, and a shrill scream lanced through the previously heavy silence, followed by loud laughter. With determination, Yoda pressed forward until he reached a door in the back, which was slightly ajar.

"Do it again, this is getting entertaining." A loud male voice called out.

A female voice laughed along, "Okay sweetie, but we have to leave soon to sell some of that cargo. We don't want to attract any attention."

"Fine, a few more minutes." The man grumbled, "then we just kill her and leave," he finished laughing.

Master Yoda burst into the room, and instantly analyzed the situation. Two Weequay pirates, were holding a young girl down, a knife in one of their hands, carving into her back. "Let her go, you will," the old Jedi barked furiously.

Sizing him up, the woman laughed, ""Or what? You'll stop us?" She pulled a blaster from a pouch in her hip, "yeah, I don't think so." She pulled the trigger, and Yoda's lightning fast reflexes had his lightsaber out and flashing, deflecting the blast at the man. The woman stumbled back in shock, "Shit, Jedi!" She gasped.

"Under arrest, you are," Yoda told her grimly, "advise you to resist, I do not." He pulled out a transceiver, and activated it, "Captain, bring the ship to my location, you must. The temple guards, I need."

"Yes sir, we'll be right there." The pilot replied, before Yoda turned it off, putting it away.

"You'll never take us," the lady shouted, diving for the short Jedi master. With a flick of his wrist, Yoda carelessly sent her sailing across the room, smashing her into a cupboard, knocking her out.

"No!" The man shouted, scrambling from the floor to attack the Jedi. Yoda casually flicked his hand again, sending the man slamming into the wall, knocking him out as well.

The Jedi master walked up to the girl, using the force to jump onto the table. Her back was sliced up, cruel, hateful, words carved into her, their bright red contrasting against her pale skin. Her once long hair had been cut, its remains scattered around the room, leaving her with a patchy mess on her head. Blood poured from deep cuts on her legs, as if they cut them so she couldn't run away. He quickly covered her in his cloak, and pressed down, to slow the bleeding. "Terrible thing, this is," he muttered, knowing the only thing keeping him from killing the criminals was his adherence to the code, and knowing they would meet justice at Coruscant.

"Sir?" One of the guards, called from the other room.

"In here, I am," Yoda replied, still mournfully looking at the girl below. "Help urgently, I need."

One of the guards entered the room, and froze at the sight. He turned to the Grand Master, only the years of training holding down his rage, "What happened here, sir?"

"A terrible, horrible thing," Yoda shook his head, "If she makes it, I know not."

"What do we do sir?" The guard asked.

"Pack everything up, we shall." Yoda said, "Another ship, full of cargo, one mentioned. Take it to Coruscant, we shall." He looked down at the bleeding girl, "Hope it's to late, I do not."
