Around half an hour later, our little group had gathered outside the Nacrene Pokemon Center with some simple conversation going on between us. Primarily about what our new direction should be with the knowledge of Vision's objective. Finding all the Legendary artifacts. It ultimately came from Dallas a rational idea came out. "Listen, we already have Walter's training and his Gym challenge, that'll take us around a lot of the region. Chances are we'll run into them again at some major locations, we can intervene however we can but still be sensible."
"The PiT's right," Candice said. "We can handle things when it comes to us. We go to them, and I can see it only going bad. Right, Vince?"
The runaway Grunt just gave a quick and extremely enthusiastic nod. "Oh yeah, those guys are going to mess us up big time. I honestly say we just… not? Like, not deal with them?"
I nod to that. "You know what? I have my own adventure going on, if we run into them we run them over. Until then? I have to… like, actually train and try and figure out what I'm doing. Because I absolutely do not and probably almost screwed myself over trying to take on Wally like that. I just have to think here. I'm a smart guy, I can figure something out." I take a moment to think before a very important question comes to mind. "Uh, Dallas? What are Psychic-Types weak to again? Bug or something?"
Candice and Dallas just looked at me for a moment before the former sighing and shaking her head. "On Arceus, you are impossible Walter."
"What do you mean they were beaten?" The Leader of Vision asked his Lieutenants, causing the more timid of the two to jump in surprise at the fairly obvious question. "They were given powerful Dark- and Bug-Type Pokémon and yet that green haired coward still defeated them?"
There was a moment before Claire spoke up, not a hint of fear or anxiety in her voice. "First, Sir, 'powerful Bug-Type Pokémon' is oxymoronic. Secondly, it seems as though we horribly underestimated the strength of Wally. Turns out the information we had on him was horribly outdated, from when he was still in the Hoenn Region. Apparently he kept a semi-low profile after some meteor situations until relocating and taking the Gym Leader position."
"So, you're saying the intelligence was wrong?"
"Just outdated," Claire said, pulling out a Poryphone from her suit pocket. "Perhaps now you will listen to my idea of using a basic search engine instead of going into multiple years old news broadcasts and Route-side interviews."
The Team Leader just looked down to his desk from Claire, letting out a groan of annoyance. He simply nodded and leaned back, turning in his chair to look out the window. "I hate your lack of respect in speaking to me, but damn you are right. Fine! Begin each information gathering with looking on your 'basic search engines'!" He let out a sigh just looking to Castelia City below the building. "And do yet another information gathering using your methods.
"Fredderick!" He shouted, causing the other Lieutenant to jump. "I want you to try and find anything on the real artifacts for Zekrom and Reshiram. Remove museums from your list of possible locations, I do not know how you thought they would have the real Legendary artifacts but, please, actually think next time."
Fredderick simply nodded to his leader in response. "Of course, Sir. I will begin right away, and remove the options that hold no water." He stopped for a moment before bringing up a question. "Do you… want for me to enlist help from the new hand you brought in?"
Isaac was quiet for an extended period of time before slowly turning around to his desk again, glaring to his Lieutenant and leaning forward slowly. "What do you think?" He asked. "And as soon as you realize how idiotic a question that was, leave my office. Same for you, Claire."
"Understood, Sir," the Lieutenant said very solemnly, glancing down with disgruntled acceptance. "I will speak with him immediately." He then turned slowly and began to exit the large office room, attempting his best to not cause any further issues as he left. This, unfortunately, was in vain as he stumbled right near the door and knocked against a pillar holding The Magma Stone. In a rare moment of nimbleness, Fredderick reached and caught it before it reaches the floor. "Sorry, Sir!" He shouted back as he placed it back onto its stand, not even attempting to be controlled as he just rushed out the door.
Claire simply watched the display before she turned to their leader with a sarcastic smirk and single cocked eyebrow. "Just remember, you are the one that appointed him to the position he's in now." She ended her statement with a chuckle before turning on her heels, exiting in a much less embarrassing manner. However, she leaned back in a moment later to let off one more sarcastic comment. "And before you say it, no. I am not above sarcasm."
Isaac watched as his underlings left his office, leaning back into his chair with another groan, rubbing the bridge of his nose in agitation. "Those two are going to be the end of me. Should have hired those Magma goons."
Fredderick stumbled from the office and rushed a few feet down the hallway, catching himself and steadying to walk normally once again. Straightening up his suit he reached into his pocket and pulled out his PokeNav, looking through the contacts and sighing coming upon the one he needed. Taking in a deep breath, he clicked on the contact and pulled the PokeNav up to speak.
One ring. Two rings. Three rings. After the fourth ring Fredderick sighed and cancelled the call, beginning his walk again before he was suddenly interrupted by a growing shadow emerging from the walls to his side. He knew what this was, so he took a few steps back and tried to maintain his composure as the one he was attempting to call suddenly stepped through.
Tall and lithe, pale and with hair on the entire opposite side of the spectrum with a long, red line going down to a point halfway on his back. When out of the shadows, the creator of this inexplicable portal appeared behind the controller: Darkrai. The shadow began to dissolve as the man turned to Fredderick, a twisted grin growing across his face. "Ah, Freddy!" He said in a shady yet jovial tone, "Apologies for not answering, you know I prefer to speak face-to-face. Now, let's get this intel going, I do believe I can locate the artifacts for Lugia and Ho-Oh in Johto and the Jade Orb from Hoenn. Afterwards, I can gain knowledge on further items. Give the word, seal the deal, and the deed shall be done." He held out his hand to the Lieutenant, a cold aura coming from his encroaching presence.
Fredderick looked down at the hand before glancing back up to D, taking in a deep breath before shaking his hand. He winces as a strike of cold shoots up his arm and into his spine. Swallowing his anxiety of the individual Fredderick nodded. "Yes, please do, D. And, while you're at it, see if you can learn anything that can get those Gym Leaders off our backs."
The, essentially, mercenary shook the Lieutenant's hand with a firm grip and aggressive strength before letting go. "Wonderful, wonderful. I will do all that I can, Lieutenant. Those Leaders will not be a problem." He took a step back and raised a hand, snapping and commanding the Mythical on his side to open another shadow portal. "Oh, and of course, give my condolences to that Legendary you're toting around. It's a shame to see Cresselia waste away with someone of your limited skillset." He let out a frigid laugh at his own comment before disappearing into the shadows, the wall returning to its normal color on his exit.
Fredderick furrowed his brow at the wall after that final stinging comment, shaking his head as he turned to continue down the hallways. "I don't get paid enough for this."
Claire stepped out shortly after Isaac, watching him head down the opposite end of the hallways as she turned right. She took out her PoryPhone and scrolled through her contacts, bringing up a name that brought a devilish grin to her face. Dialing up her contacts she brought the phone up to her ear, waiting as a tone ringed to her from the phone. When the one being called answered, Claire only smirked more to speak. "Commander Saylen, Operation Info Dump was a success. We have been given the go ahead to broaden the search for information."
There is a light chuckle from the other end of the phone, the Commander speaking, "Ah, wonderful. And how did our glorious Leader Isaac deal with the news of our 'museum incident'?"
"As anticipated, he was quite upset and lashed out at Fredderick. Again."
Saylen laughed hearing this, going back into a professional tone to speak. "Wonderful, wonderful. Please continue your work, and as per usual do not share our conversations with anybody. Understood?"
"Perish the thought. Our mission is far too important to let slip." Claire looked at her watch and nodded as she approached the elevator. "Well, Commander, it appears our time to talk is coming to an end. Are we still on for the meeting tomorrow?"
"Of course, why would I put off something so important?"
"Good to hear. Until then, Commander. Have a good day." When getting a similar response, Claire hung up and went into the elevator and pressed for her floor going to her office. "I love when a plan comes together."
