Segment 17 - The Arrangement

- 1 YEAR LATER -

Blossom stood in the store, looking at the wide variety of brushes. She was clearly in the market for a new one. Finding one that seemed right, with firm bristles, Blossom went to pay for the brush. Exiting the store, Blossom was donning the necklace given to her by Brick. She stopped and took a look at the necklace, before proceeding to close her eyes for a moment, remembering the night it was gifted to her.

The memory was shaken by her phone vibrating. Blossom grabbed her phone and saw she got a text from Brick. "We need to meet." It read. "He's back?" Blossom wondered as she sent him a text "Where at?" It didn't take long for Brick to respond with simply one word: "Lakehouse" Blossom sighed as she believed she knew what the meeting would be about. She flew off for the Ruff's home.

"That's the last of the stuff." Boomer spoke as he broke down the box and took it out back. Butch was close behind. "Hopefully we're here to stay this time. I don't like going off the grid." Boomer spoke as Butch threw out some garbage. "Well we'll see. Brick might see that girl Blossom and get tongue tied all over again." he spoke

"What did you just say?"

Brick arrived out back with some more garbage. "I was telling Boomer here, now that we're back in town, you gon see Blossom and be tripping over your feet again, fumbling your words and shit." Butch mocked and Brick smacked him in the back of the head. "And I'm guessing now that we're back in town you're gonna start buying durags again, smoking and fucking Buttercup every night." Brick shot "I was buying durags when we were out of town!" Butch spoke rubbing the back of his head as the boys walked back inside and turned on the TV. "But to answer your guesses? YES I'm gonna fuck Buttercup!" Butch laughed. Suddenly there was a knock at the door. "I didn't call anyone." Boomer spoke "Neither did I." Butch said as he looked at Brick who got up "You got to be shitting me…." Butch said as Brick ignored him while he went to open the door.

Brick opened the door to see his counterpart. Noticing something shiny around Blossom's neck, he looked closer

"You're wearing the necklace."

Brick realized. "Yeah." Blossom spoke taking the necklace in hand "Sometimes I do." Blossom spoke. "YO! Close the fucking door! It's cold!" Butch screamed from inside. Brick stepped outside. "Let's take a walk." Brick spoke, as he led Blossom to his backyard.

Heading to the back Blossom asked "When'd you get back to Townsville?" "Couple days ago." Brick answered, not making eye contact. The pair reached the lake, stopping at the white chairs for a moment. They both stared out at the water. "Missed you." Blossom admitted "Wasn't expecting you to just up and leave." she continued.

Brick refused to make eye contact as he began to walk around the lake. Blossom stared at him before walking around the lake with him. They walked in silence for a few moments. Blossom decided to break the silence, and she asked

"Why'd you want to meet?"

Brick stopped walking. There was more silence between the two, the only thing breaking it was the cold, late winter air. The wind seemingly howled before Brick spoke up "Blossom…" he started looking at Blossom the way he did before he left her. "No. Brick. NO!" Blossom spoke sternly knowing the real reason why he wanted to "Meet".

Blossom, knowing she wasn't ready still despite the memory of Stone being a thing of the far past. A skeleton in her closet almost, turned to leave and Brick grabbed her "Blossom!" Brick said and Blossom looked at him "I told you I can't do this!" She argued and pulled her hand away "I haven't stopped waiting for you Blossom, you know this, and you know how I feel about you!" Brick spoke and Blossom rolled her eyes "Don't say that!" she responded "Why? Cause I know how you feel about me?!" Brick said and Blossom screamed in fustration. "We've been down this road how many times now Brick? You left town, just to get over me! Why are you still waiting for me?!" Blossom argued

"I left town to give you space while you figured this out….Not to get over you…I'll never be over you, cause you're the only woman for me." Brick said and he pulled Blossom into a kiss, only to be met with a hard slap. Brick pulled away and stared at Blossom, in shock at her first attack on him in years. "Brick…I'm….I'm sorry" Blossom spoke and Brick grabbed her, not gently like before

"It's always, gonna be you Blossom. Always." He spoke in a low tone "I can't be what you want! I can't! You don't think I want to?!" Blossom argued "What's stopping you?!" Brick screamed and Blossom refused to respond

"WHAT IS STOPPING YOU BLOSSOM?!"

Blossom closed her eyes "Tell me." Brick let Blossom go and he began to cool off. "I love you." Blossom admitted and Brick, before he could respond, was met by Blossom's lips. The kiss was rough beyond all compare, passionate and deep. A maelstrom of emotions coming to a head after a year of zero interaction between the pair.

Not knowing what to do, Blossom eyed Brick and said "This is all we can do…no commitment…" Brick listened to Blossom's words. Blossom hugged Brick. "Just…just until I figure this out…" She continued "Blossom…." Brick spoke "Just tell me, yes or no to this…" Blossom spoke and Brick looked Blossom in her bright pink eyes. The eyes were filled with love, hurt, sadness and a slew of other emotions. "Yes." Brick answered and Blossom left without a word.
