Trigger Warning

As Barry walked in the room he looked at Joe who gave him a smile before going back to his work. Then to Eddie who done the same though he seemed more worried.

Barry sighed as he knocked on Singh's door before opening it.

"You wanted to see me?"

"Yeah close the door and sit down."

Barry done what he was told, he sat nervously not knowing why he was there. Scared that he somehow found out and was going to make him take time off again.

"I have a case that I want you on, but..I need to know if your in the right place mentally for this case."

"What is it?"

"We got a call about a suicide, the detective in charge suspects foul play."

"They think it's murder?"

"Yeah he does."

"So why doesn't the coroner check that out? I don't know how I'm meant to figure that out."

"He is. I just wanted you to collect samples from the crime scene before they clear it up. Just incase, I'll have the lead detective drive you down."

"Okay. So your asking..if I'm suicidal?"

"Yeah, I feel like you probably won't answer me truthfully but please do."

"I'm not," Barry lied.

"Okay," Singh sighed as he looked out the window of his office. "Eddie!" He shouted, waiting for him to look before signalling him to come in. "Eddie's the detective in charge. Joe's on a different case."

"Don't they work together?"

"We didn't think this was going to turn into something. Joe wasn't here yet so I just sent Eddie out, if this really is something Joe will come in then."

Barry looked round when he heard the door open, even though he knew it was just Eddie.

"You want to bring Allen down to the crime scene?"

"Yeah sure, just let me know when your ready to go," he told Barry before walking back to his desk.

"I uhh...I'll go get what I need," Barry said awkwardly as he stood up and walked towards the door.

"Barry?" Singh said causing him to stop just before opening the door and looking over to him. "Just let me know if any of this affects you, I'll find you another case."

"Thanks, but I'll be fine."

"Alright," Singh sighed as Barry walked out the door.

Barry knew he didn't believe him. He just walked out the room towards the stairs and to his lab.

As soon as he walked in the room he grabbed Cisco's calorie bar and his usual bag before jogging back down the stairs. He put the bar in his bag, telling himself he'll eat it later.

Eddie was waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs. The two used the elevator and out the main doors.

"So you feeling better than you did earlier?" Eddie asked as the two got in his car.

"Yeah I am, thanks for helping."

"Of course. We're pretty much family now," he said giving him a smile as he drove out the parking lot.

"Can you not tell Iris either? She worry's about stuff a little too much sometimes."

"Uhh..yeah it's alright."

Barry could tell he wanted to tell someone, he didn't want to hide it. He didn't want Barry to hide it.

"So you were the one who thought it was murder right?"

"Yeah just..seemed off."

"In what way?"

"You know, she was rich and married and had kids. Had a good job. Had a good life."

"If she was suicidal all that..doesn't change anything. Being suicidal isn't always having no money and being alone."

"I know, it's just..she has so much going for her."

"Look it's sad I get it. That's not going to make it something it isn't."

Barry stopped, he sounded more cold, more withdrawn than he meant. He just hoped Eddie didn't notice or at least didn't say anything.

"Yeah. I know."

The rest of the drive was quiet, they soon stopped a few houses down from where they needed to be.

The two got out the car and began walking towards the house, there was a few people standing outside the police tape. That Eddie pushed through while Barry followed behind.

The two had to show their badges before they were allowed under the tape and into the house.

"So where'd it happen?"

"Upstairs bathroom," Eddie said as he started walking up the stairs.

Barry walked behind, looking at everything. He didn't see anything yet. Not until he he saw the broken bathroom door.

"What happened to the door?"

"They had to break it down."

"Locks from the inside?" Barry asked as he took a closer look at the door. "You can't lock or unlock it from the outside. This doesn't look like a murder Eddie."

He walked fully into the bathroom. He saw the blood covering the floor around the bathtub, all the blood and water still in the bathtub.

"So..what's your theory for this being a murder?"

"She was killed before being put in the water. The murderer cut her wrists to make it look like a suicide."

"No. There's too much blood. If this was a murder, which I don't think it was, she died in that tub from the blood loss. If you were right there would be a lot less blood."

"I thought you didn't go out on suicide victims?"

"I don't. But I've been to a murder scene with the type of murder you just described and I've..I've seen this...way of suicide before."

"What do you mean?"

"My roommate at collage. This is definitely a suicide Eddie," Barry said before going into the medicine cabinet. "Was her name Sara?"

"Yeah why?"

Barry took out a pill bottle, shook it slightly and opened it. He looked inside and saw it was full before putting the top back in.

"Her antidepressants. Refilled a few weeks ago, haven't been touched," he said handing Eddie the bottle. "Maybe her life wasn't going as great as you thought."

Barry took a few finger print samples from the door handle, a water sample, her pill bottle and a few other samples of the room. Even though he saw no point, he still did to make Eddie feel a little better.

"I'm ready to go," Barry said as he closed his bag and stood up putting it over his shoulder.

The drive back to the station was quiet, as soon as Barry got back he went straight up to his lab. Where he saw Iris sitting.

"Hey," he said as he put his bag down near his desk, trying to remember why she was there. "Shit. Lunch. I'm sorry, I was at a crime scene."

"It's fine dad already told me, that's why I went back out and got us lunch," she said as she handed him a big belly burger bag.

"Oh my god thank you," he said as he took the bag and sat at his desk.

Iris pulled his spare chair round and sat at the side of the desk.

"So you were out with Eddie, how was that?"

"I don't know, I didn't really like it."

"What happened?"

"There was a suicide, Eddie was so sure it was a murder and not for good reasons."

Barry knew it was okay to talk about it since it was more or less a closed case. He just wasn't allowed to talk about open cases, high profile cases. And as long as he didn't go into full detail it was also fine.

"What were his reasons?"

"Because she was rich, she had kids and a husband. And 'she has so much going for her'. I don't know, he just didn't seem to understand that isn't always enough."

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah," he said quietly as he began eating his fries. "She..she done it the same way Jacob did."

"Oh Barry I'm so sorry," she said as Joe walked in. "I'm gonna go see Eddie."

Barry saw the look he gave her, the one the two of them know too well. The 'leave for a minute I need to talk to him' look. Iris got it a lot when they were growing up.

Barry just watched as Iris picked up her fries and walked out the room. Giving him one last look as she walked out the door. Joe sat in the seat Iris was in.

"You okay? I heard you went to Eddie's crime scene, I didn't know what it was until a few minutes ago."

"I'm fine."

Barry really did think he'd be fine, he wasn't expecting to remember his roommate.

"It didn't..." he paused. Barry knew what he was about to say

"It didn't make me think of Jacob? Yeah it did, it doesn't matter."

"You know you weren't close, but I remember how much it affected you."

They weren't close, Barry liked him, but never said anything. He also never said much, he was quiet, withdrawn from everyone and mostly everything. If Barry wasn't also withdrawn from everyone and everything he might've noticed, might've been able helped.

He knew that was why it affected him. Because he could've helped him.

"I'm fine."

"Yeah I know," he sighed, obviously expecting that answer.

Barry took a deep breath.

"I need to tell you something. It has nothing to do with what we're talking about and its probably isn't the best time."

"Barr, you can talk to me whenever."

"Okay," he breathed, he stopped for about a minute. Joe just sat and waited for him to be ready. "I'm gay."

"I know Barr," Joe said with a smile. Though he still stood up causing Barry to as well and pulled him into his arms. "Thank you for telling me."

"Why don't you say anything?" Barry asked after about a minute while pulling out of his foster fathers arms.

"I knew you would tell me when you were ready. I didn't want to put you in a position where you were uncomfortable that I knew because you weren't ready."

"I was so scared that you would hate me."

"I could never hate you. You're the best son I could've asked for," Joe said causing Barry to smile, looking like he was going to cry. "No. Don't do that. You know when you cry, I cry."

Barry just laughed.
