When Barry woke up he almost panicked, if he hadn't heard Oliver's voice he knew he would've. Those first few moments after waking up everything felt fine, it felt normal. But then he remembered where he was and why he was there.
He sighed quietly as he rolled onto his back, as he looked up to the ceiling he heard the room go quiet.
"Morning Barry," Oliver said, his voice sounded like he usually did. He didn't hear the worry he usually did from everyone else recently.
"Morning," he said as he sat up, there was no emotion in his voice. Part of him wasn't sure if it was because didn't really feel any emotion or because he just woke up. Another part of him knew it was the first one.
"So once your doctor clears you we'll head central city hospital they'll be expecting you," Lance said, who was standing at the end of his bed.
"How long will that take? She just needs to talk to me right?"
"And do a few tests," he said before having a sip of his coffee.
"Like a physical? I have a doctor in central city that does that, only she does my physicals."
Barry felt the discomfort from Lance, he knew he didn't know how react. Barry knew Lance didn't know him enough to help with something like this.
"Why don't I see if a doctor I trust is available? She might be able to do this instead," Oliver said softly as he carefully sat on the bed next to him. "You can trust her."
"Okay," Barry sighed slightly.
Oliver pulled Barry into a hug, which he didn't understand until he began whispering in his ear.
"I'll need to tell her about Flash, is that okay? She's who treats arrow."
Barry knew Quentin hadn't heard, he knew even if he knew they were whispering he most likely wouldn't listen. He hoped anyway.
Barry nodded as Oliver pulled out of the hug. He learnt that Lance had standing looking at one of the notes on the wall while sipping his coffee.
"Alright, I'll go see if she can do that. I'll be right back, you gonna be okay?" Oliver asked as he stood up from the bed.
"Yeah."
"And I should probably tell your doctor that she won't be doing your physical," Lance said causing Oliver to give him a small smile to say thanks.
"I can wait until he gets back if you want?"
"I'll be fine, Ollie."
Oliver gave him one last look as he walked out the door. He looked to the two security guards sitting each side of Barry's door, Oliver knew they wouldn't be able to stop him if he ran. That worried him, but still he walked the towards stairwell and jogged down to the right floor. He knocked on the door of the room she was usually in.
"You can come in," she shouted, Oliver could tell she was in the middle of doing something. He opened the door to see her writing down notes. "Oh I wasn't expecting you. But still, what can I do for you Oliver?"
"I've got a..friend a few floors up who needs a physical before he can be transferred to central city hospital. I was wondering if your busy?"
"I'm not. But you hesitated before saying friend. I'm guessing he's another vigilante?"
"He's a metahuman. The flash," he said, he waited for some sort of reaction but he didn't get one.
"Okay."
She closed her book as she stood up, put the pen she was using into her pocket and followed Oliver towards Barry's room. Oliver saw the reaction on her face when she saw Lance and the security guards. She turned to him.
"Why is he here? You never mentioned that part."
"He..nearly jumped off a bridge last night."
"Oh."
She wasn't expecting that.
Obviously she wasn't.
"I'm sorry."
"It's alright, I'm just glad Lance got there when he did."
Oliver watched as Barry's doctor from last night walked over to Dr Schwartz. He knew she needed to talk to her before she could see Barry, he let the two talk and joined Quentin where he was sitting on one of the three seats.
"Something happened to him when he was struck by that lightning didn't it?"
"What do you mean?"
"Just thought maybe he needed someone trusted like arrow might need someone trusted."
"No it's nothing like that. Barry finds it hard to trust and I've never met his doctor so I knew he wouldn't want her to do this for him."
"Okay," he said, Oliver knew he was suspicious he could see it, he could sense it. But he didn't say anything.
Barry sat impatiently for Oliver to come back, he knew Lance had finished talking to his doctor even though he didn't come back. Which he was mostly glad about, he knew it was awkward for him as well. Neither knew each other. He heard Oliver's voice, he heard Lance too. Talking about him. About arrow.
He knows Oliver the arrow?
Why didn't he tell me that?
"Hello Mr Allen," a woman said as she walked past the two men at the door, she had a kind smile. "I'm Dr Elisa Schwartz, it's nice to meet you."
"Hi," he said awkwardly as his knee began bouncing up and down.
Barry watched as she moved the chair round so she was facing him, he saw her notice his leg.
"So Oliver told me a little about you. He said there were a few things in your physical you didn't want done."
He noticed the way her voice got quieter, the way she looked slightly to the two men at the door after she said that.
"Yeah, I don't want my blood taken or my heart rate done," he said just as quietly.
"Well I can't not do your heart rate, but if you know what your normal is I can say it's normal."
"Okay."
Peter was more anxious than he thought he would be. He hadn't had a physical done by anyone other than Caitlin in over a year.
"Have you had anything to eat yet?"
"I..I didn't know that was a question?"
"I can't take your blood if you've not had anything to eat."
"Ah okay. Uhh no..I've not eaten yet."
Barry hated talking about how much he'd eaten. Mostly because of how team flash would react if he hadn't eaten yet that day or just not had enough. He hated that they would always try and convince him to eat more.
"That's okay," she said as she wrote something in the small file that had his name on it. "Alright, let's get started then."
The ride to central city was quicker than he thought it'd be. Than he hoped. He sat in the back of the car looking out the window the whole time. He'd answer short answers when they spoke to him but that was it. Though he knew they wanted him to talk more.
Lance stopped the car and got out, opening the door for Barry and Oliver to get out. It was colder than it was in star city which wasn't usually the case. Barry saw his therapist walking towards them. He knew that she was meeting them but he didn't know it'd be as soon as they got to the hospital.
He saw the security guards following her, though they waited back a bit the closer to them she got.
"Barry, it's good to see you again," she said with the usual smile she gave him, she didn't give him the worried pity look. Even though he knew she was worried. "Captain Lance it's nice to meet you. And Mr Queen."
"You too. Is Captain Singh here? I have to fill him in," Lance asked as he looked around the parking lot, though Barry wasn't sure what he was looking for.
"Not yet he's on his way," she said before looking to Barry. "Joe is too."
"Thanks," he said quietly with a weak smile. "Why do you have to talk to Singh?"
"This was a police matter in star city about a central city resident. Which you know means it has to be handed over to central city police."
"I don't want everyone there knowing."
"That's why only David and Joe are coming, it'll be okay Barry, you don't need to worry."
"Let's get you set up with a bed while Quinten waits for them. Mr Queen you can come too if you like," Barry's therapist, Dr Bradley said as she began leading him towards the main doors.
"Thank you," Barry heard Oliver say to Lance quietly as he walked with Dr Bradley.
"Of course. And Barry?" He said a little louder than what he first said causing him to stop. "I hope things get better for you."
"Thanks."
Oliver caught up and walked beside Barry while the two security guards walked behind the three. They stood with them while Barry's therapist spoke to a doctor, who looked between her and Barry before walking with them.
Barry was brought to the room across from the nurses station. He awkwardly walked in and sat in the chair in the corner of the room. While Oliver sat on the edge of the bed knowing that Barry was uncomfortable.
"Doctor Snow is here I'll send her on," Dr Bradly said as she walked back towards the door. "I'll be back to talk I just need to get your file."
"You okay?" Oliver asked after she walked out the door.
"I really don't like hospitals," he said as the door opened. The two looked to see Caitlin walk in.
"Hey, can I talk to Barry?"
"Course, I'll be right outside."
Barry watched as Oliver stood up and walked back out the room. Caitlin pulled a chair closer to him and sat down.
"I'm not used to be a doctor like this," she said trying to lighten the mood a little. "You know in a hospital, not just in star labs for you."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be," she gave him a smile.
Not a pity smile which he was glad about.
"Anyway the doctor in star city didn't take your blood, I'm sure I can come up with a better excuse than you just not eating."
"I'll be gone soon so does it matter?"
"Barry they want to keep you in."
