The Drowning Basement
It was a sunny day at the lake, but outside of the clans, there was a twoleg place that was a few miles from the lake. There was a red, country-like house that was surrounded by tall pine trees that covered the house with shades. Behind the house was an old shed-like door that led to an underground basement beneath the house. It hadn't been used for many years, because it was built as a bomb shelter for the cold war, but now, it was an empty storage den. In the dark, nearly empty basement, five unconscious cats laid in the middle of the room and were chained up. They were chained from their paws and tails and all five of them were muzzled good. At the center of the room, a golden cream she-cat with white paws, chest, belly, and eartips was laying unconscious on the floor. Surrounding her was four other cats; a light grey she-cat with dark grey stripes, white chest, belly, paws, and muzzle, a grey tom with darker stripes and a light grey chest, a white and grey she-cat, and a golden tom with white stripes, chest, belly, and paws. It took a while, but soon, the golden cream she-cat started to wake up. She started to open her eyes slowly as her vision was blurry and was feeling dizzy. After a few moments, she regained her vision, but it was so dark that it took a few minutes for her sight to adjust to the dark. The golden cream she-cat looked around and was confused. She tried to move, but was held back. She looked down and there were shackles on her paws and tail and they were connected to chains. The golden cream she-cat moved again, hoping to break out of them, but it was no use, they just wouldn't budge.
"Uhhh, Daisy?" a voice muffled.
Daisy looked around, trying to find the source of that whisper and as she looked around, she saw that there were other unconscious cats and one of them was starting to wake up. Each one of the cats also had shackles on their paws and tails and Daisy noticed that all of the cats were muzzled. She opened her mouth to say anything, but she felt that her jaw was restrained and assumed that she too was muzzled. One of the cats got up and looked around. After her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she looked at Daisy.
"Daisy?" she whispered.
"Millie, is that you?" Daisy whispered.
"Yes, it's me. What's going on here, where are we?" she whispered.
"I don't know, I was hoping you knew." Daisy whispered.
Suddenly, both cats heard a moan and looked around. Millie looked beside her and saw the grey tom slowly getting up.
"Stormcloud?" Millie whispered.
"Uggh, yeah. Why?" he groaned.
"Stormcloud, what are you doing here?" Daisy whispered.
"I don't know, I was hoping you knew." He groaned.
"No, I don't." Daisy whispered.
She shook her head as Stormcloud got up and tried to move, but he to was restricted by the shackles. Daisy could see that Stormcloud was also muzzled and had to assume that the other two cats were also chained and muzzled.
"Hey, are you two alright?" she whispered.
"Huh?" a voice called out.
Daisy, Millie, and Stormcloud looked and saw the white and grey she-cat opening her eyes and was getting up, than the golden tom started to move. As both cats got up and looked around, they were confused and felt a bit dizzy. When they tried to move, they felt held back, and looked down and saw the shackles on their paws and tails. The white and grey she-cat and golden tom both struggled to get out of the shackles.
"Don't bother Ivypool, Fernsong, i've tried that already." Daisy whispered.
Ivypool was about to say something, but felt her jaw was restricted. She lowered her head and lifted her paw to feel a muzzle covering her jaw, mouth, and nose. Ivypool tried to take it off, but that, mixed with the chains, proved to be difficult. Both cats continued to struggle, but after a while, they stopped as they realized it was pointless. Both begin to catch their breath.
"Daisy, is that you?" Ivypool murmured.
"Yes, it's me. Millie and Stormcloud are also here too." She whispered.
Ivypool looked and could see Millie and Stormcloud looking at her with kind eyes. Ivypool was confused and couldn't understand how or what they were doing here.
"I'm sorry but, what are we doing here?" Fernsong whispered loudly.
"I don't know, I thought you would know." Millie whispered.
"Well, I don't." Fernsong whispered.
"You know, what are we doing here? How did we even get here?" Stormcloud whispered.
"I don't know, but I have a feeling that it has something to do with Bumblestripe." Ivypool whispered.
"So, you're suspicious about him too?" Daisy whispered.
"Are you kidding?! Ever since he suggested that he should be leader instead of Sparkstar, he's been under my suspicions. I think he may have killed Bristlefrost, Rootspring, Squirrelflight, Bramblestar, Tree, and Violetshine." Fernsong whispered.
"I think that too." Ivypool whispered.
"Especially since we spoke up against him, everyone else was unsure until we said something, especially Blossomfall." Millie whispered.
"Okay, so lets say it was Bumblestripe, he must've had help. There's no way he carried us all the way down here by himself." Daisy whispered.
"True, but who?" Stormcloud whispered.
"I think it may be…" Ivypool whispered.
Suddenly, a loud bang ranged out in the room and everyone perked in alarm. After a few moments, they begin to calm down. Than, they heard something open and water started to pour in. At first, the group thought it was drinking water, but when it wouldn't stop, they realized that it was meant to kill them.
"Ivypool, what are we going to do?" Daisy whispered loudly.
She, Millie, Stormcloud, and Fernsong started to panic and looked at Ivypool with worry. Ivypool didn't know what to do, she was chained, shackled, and muzzled and now, water was flooding the basement. Ivypool didn't know what to do, but she knew that they needed to get out of these chains.
"Quick, everyone try to get out of the chains!" she whispered loudly.
Everyone got to work and struggled to get out of the chains. For a few minutes, everyone tried to break the chains and shackles, but that, mixed with the fact that the area around them wasn't strong enough to break the chains, proved to be hopeless. The water rose towards everyone's head level until everyone was underwater. Everyone struggled even harder to get out and Millie, Daisy, and Stormcloud started to panic. After a few more minutes, Millie and Stormcloud were the first to die as they gave up and allowed the water to drown them. After a while of struggling, Daisy, Ivypool, and Fernsong stopped as the water made it impossible for the chains to be broken. All three cats held their breath as they tried to figure out what to do. Daisy looked at Millie and Stormcloud somberly and knew she would have to tell Blossomfall, Greystripe, and Bumblestripe that Millie was dead; if she ever got out, that is. Daisy looked back at Ivypool and Fernsong and saw that Fernsong had drowned. Daisy looked at Ivypool with sympathy as Ivypool looked at her mate, than back at her. Both she-cats looked at each other and knew that they were going to die. Ivypool decided that if she was going to die, she'll die fighting. She swam up, trying a last attempt to escape, but Daisy had accepted her fate. To be honest, she was relieved that she wouldn't have to tell Blossomfall, Greystripe, or any other cat that their loved ones were dead, but she knew that she would remain missing until someone found her body. After a few moments, Daisy succumbed to the water and drowned. Ivypool kept swimming until she was too tired and stopped. After realizing that it was hopeless, Ivypool surrendered to the water and let herself drown in the water.
