The Roaring River

It was a early morning, the sun was rising and the birds, rabbits, and other creatures were waking up and starting their day. In Riverclan territory, just beside the river, a black tom with blue eyes and a older, pale grey she-cat with blue eyes were walking towards the river in their territory. Both cats enjoyed the scenery as the gentle breeze blew on their coats and the trees surrounding them. The pale grey she-cat had forgotten how it felt to just take a break from responsibilities and just take the time to enjoy life as it is. The black tom though, was troubled by recent events. The pale grey she-cat looked at the black tom and noticed the troubled look.

"Reedwhisker, is something wrong?" she asked.

"No, Mistystar, everything's fine." He sighed.

"Reedwhisker, when you're not the deputy, you can call me mom, so please, tell me, what's wrong?" Mistystar pleaded.

"It's just…the murders, mom. Everyone is on edge and I don't know how to calm everyone down or keep them safe." Reedwhisker explained.

"I know dear, this worries me as well." Mistystar meowed sadly.

"I mean, you've heard the news. Someone is killing cats that have broken the warrior code, that can't be the reason they're doing this!" Reedwhisker meowed annoyed.

"I know, the lack of evidence doesn't help us either." Mistystar agreed.

"What are we going to do? They've already killed cats from Thunderclan, Shadowclan, and Skyclan, it's only a matter of time before they kill cats from our clan or Windclan." Reedwhisker meowed concerned.

"I know, thank Starclan that cats from our clan haven't been killed." Mistystar meowed.

"Yes, thank Starclan for that. Has Starclan spoken to you?" Reedwhisker asked.

"Not for some time, but even without Starclan's words, I am suspicious about a few cats." Mistystar meowed.

"I know there were cats that supported Ashfur's rules, but that doesn't mean we can't trust them." Reedwhisker pointed out.

"I'm not talking about our clanmates, I'm talking about Bumblestripe." Mistystar meowed.

"So, you've noticed it as well?" Reedwhisker asked.

"I have, his behavior looks and seems questionable." Mistystar meowed.

"Do you think he could've done it?" Reedwhisker asked.

"Yes, I think he could." Mistystar nodded.

Before Reedwhisker could say anything, something sharp hit him on the back of his head and he felt dizzy. Mistystar continued walking as she was troubled by the thoughts of Bumblestripe and was unaware of Reedwhiskers trouble. Reedwhisker was tackled hard and than knocked out. Mistystar stopped and looked behind her. She saw two cats pinning Reedwhisker down to the ground and he wasn't putting up a fight.

"Hey, what are you…" Mistystar yowled.

Suddenly, something sharp hit her head and she felt dizzy. Mistystar was than pinned down hard and knocked out unconscious. All three cats looked at each other and had a sinister smile on their faces. What must've felt like hours, Mistystar started to wake up and regained her vision. It took a few minutes, but once she did, she saw that she was tied onto a log and they were floating upright, on a river. Mistystar was confused and was starting to panic. Suddenly, she heard a muffled groan from the other side of the log and tried to see. Reedwhisker started to wake up and open his eyes. He regained his vision and became conscious a lot quicker and looked around to see he was tied to a log and was floating upright in the river. The river was calm and peaceful and Mistystar and Reedwhisker couldn't recognize the area they were in or how far they were from Riverclan territory. Mistystar and Reedwhisker didn't realize it, but fish was stuffed into their mouths and both cats chewed the fish and swallowed it. It was one big gulp and both cats needed to take a breath. As they caught their breath, Mistystar could scent Reedwhisker on the other side of the log.

"Reedwhisker, is that you?" she asked.

"Yes, mom, it's me." He meowed.

"Are you alright?" Mistystar asked.

"Besides my head pounding, I'll be fine." Reedwhisker moaned.

"Do you know what happened?" Mistystar asked.

"Something hard hit my head, than I was pinned down and knocked out." Reedwhisker explained.

"Yes, that happened to me too." Mistystar murmured.

"Mom, do you know how far we are from our home?" Reedwhisker asked.

"I'm not sure, but I think we're pretty far." Mistystar meowed.

"What are we going to do?" Reedwhisker asked.

"I don't know, but try to chew the rope." Mistystar urged.

Mistystar and Reedwhisker begin chewing the rope, but the rope was difficult to reach and difficult to chew on. After a few moments, both cats gave up.

"It's not working, we need to try something else. You saw the cats that pinned me down, didn't you?" Reedwhisker asked.

"Yes, and I could've sworn they had a familiar scent of Thunderclan on them." Mistystar meowed certain.

"This must've been Bumblestripe's idea. I knew that cat was trouble." Reedwhisker growled.

"There were rumors that it could've been a group. Bumblestripe must be their leader." Mistystar concluded.

"If that's the case, than we're dealing with someone more dangerous than we realized." Reedwhisker meowed.

Unbeknownst to Mistystar and Reedwhisker, the river started to change from calm to bumpy. The log begin swinging the two cats around like a dog chewing its toy to shreds. Reedwhisker and Mistystar were being tossed around and were hitting large and sharp rocks; causing them intense pain all over them. As they floated past the rocks, they floated back onto the smoother water, but it wouldn't be for long. Mistystar and Reedwhisker groaned.

"Ouch, that hurts!" Reedwhisker hissed.

"I know dear, I know. This hurts me too." Mistystar murmured.

"What are we going to do? If we're dead, the clan will have no leader or deputy; they'll freak!" Reedwhisker meowed scared.

"I know dear, I know." Mistystar meowed.

She was getting concerned and worried, and she had every right to be. If Mistystar and Reedwhisker are dead, than not only would the clan be leaderless and without a deputy, they would be fighting over the positions and it would be chaos. Mistystar had heard the story of what happened in Shadowclan and the idea of that outcome made her stomach dropped. She prayed to Starclan that if she and Reedwhisker are dead, that they would send a sign to her clanmates as soon as possible.

"Reedwhisker." Mistystar meowed.

"Yes, mom?" he replied.

"If we don't make it, I just want you to know, you're a great deputy and you would've made a great leader, I could've been more proud of you. I love you, Reedwhisker." Mistystar meowed tearfully.

"I love you too, mom." He meowed.

Mistystar looked at the river and knew that the current up ahead would be so rough it could probably kill them and she was right. As soon as the log floated on the rapid river, it swung the two cats again. They hit the rocks so hard that not only did it cause intense pain, it basically killed Reedwhisker. He hit his head hard on a rock and blood poured out of the head wound. Water was getting into Mistystar's nose and mouth, and was starting to fill her lungs. Mixed with hitting her head, Mistystar was close to the brink of death. Up ahead, a waterfall was ahead and at the bottom of it was piranhas. The log approached the waterfall and it dropped seven feet to the ground. When it hit the bottom, the piranhas attacked Mistystar, causing agonizing pain and taking away her last few lives. The log shattered into pieces and Reedwhisker's body was floating as piranhas ripped the body to shreds. Mistystar gasped for air as the piranhas bit into her throat, her body being torn to shreds, and blood dripping into the water. Mistystar accepted the fact that she was going to die and knew she would see her parents, her siblings, her mate, her kits, and all of her dear friends in Starclan again. Mistystar's last breath was cut short as one of the piranhas bit into her throat so hard, it killed her quickly.
