Magnus
I'm sitting on a park bench, struggling through Fahrenheit 451, when it happens. My soulmate sees me for the first time. I feel the sting of the tattoo carving itself into my skin, and look at my forearm to see the words, Oh my god, I hate that book. The dude's cute, though. I quickly jerk my head up and look around, trying to catch a glimpse of my soulmate, but there's too many people. It could be anyone.
I consider going around and asking people if they thought that about me, but before I can do anything, I get a text from Samirah.
Sam: Hey, where are you?
I remember that I'm only here to meet her and TJ. I take one last glance around, but I don't see anyone in particular that screams soulmate.
Magnus: I'm here. You guys at the gazebo?
Sam: Yup.
Magnus: Be there in a sec.
I put my book in my bag and walk to the gazebo.
"Hey, Magnus." Sam says as she pulls out her math book. "You ready to study?"
"No. Look!" I say, showing them my forearm.
"Woah! Did you see who it was?" TJ asks.
"No." I shake my head sadly.
Sam reads the tattoo and snorts. "What book were you reading?"
"Fahrenheit 451."
"Well, I agree with your soulmate. Is there really anyone who truly likes that book, though?"
"I doubt it."
"So you've got a lot of options as to who your soulmate might be." TJ says.
"Basically."
30 minutes into studying, I'm having an existential crisis.
"What if I never see my soulmate again? What if I missed my one shot at meeting them, and now I'll be alone for the rest of my life?"
"Jeez, Magnus. Lighten up." Sam tells me.
"I seriously doubt that you'll never see them again." TJ butts in. "And even if you don't, that's okay. The world doesn't revolve around soulmates!"
"Easy for you to say." I grumble. "You're aro!"
"Still."
"Yeah, okay."
"Now that that's solved, can we please get back to the math problem?" Samirah asks.
