Prompt #50: Forever. Rating: K
Lapis eyes looked around, taking in the surroundings of their owner. The garden was as beautiful as ever, just as he had remembered them. There were a few more rose bushes, but he attributed them to Leon and his wife having them planted. It would make sense, seeing how important the flowers were to the Von Schroeder family. The lapis-eyed figure standing before the garden sighed, taking in as much as he could.
It had been years since Critias had been to the Von Schroeder residence. He hadn't been able to bring himself to come after what had happened. There had been a terrible accident years before; an accident that had taken the love of his life from him and a brother from Leon. The younger male had stepped up and quickly took over the company after he lost his brother, bringing the company on the same level as KaibaCorp.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" asked a voice behind him. The knight glanced over his shoulder at the young man behind him. The man's hazel eyes held a soft gaze, his maroon hair reaching his lower back and pulled back into a low ponytail. Critias turned back towards the garden, his armor clanking lightly as he did. "I'm sure Leon….. don't you want to see him again as well?" asked the blonde quietly, focusing on the gardens.
"Of course I do….. I was asking because I'm worried-" Leon started, but paused. "You're worried he won't remember us…." Critias finished, glancing back at him before turning his attention to the object in his hand. "… of course...….. I appreciate Pegasus creating a card in his honor, but we still don't know if his spirit is attached to it or not..…" said Leon, sighing. Critias nodded, looking at the card in his hand before fully turning to Leon and holding it out to him. "Only one way to find out….." he said.
Leon nodded and gently took the card, following Critias to the center of the garden. Once in the center, Leon hesitated before turning on his Duel disk and placing the card on it. At first nothing happened, then there was a flurry of rose petals and a rush of wind, forcing Leon and Critias to cover their faces as a bright light appeared before them. After a couple of minutes the wind and light died down, allowing Leon and Critias to lower their arms and look in awe.
Before them stood a male Valkyrie-style duel monster. His armor was pinkish-red with gold trim, while his long hair was a familiar amaranth pink. In one hand was a javelin-style spear, a shield being held in his other. His eyes were closed, but they slowly opened to reveal a familiar aqua. Leon shared a look with Critias, then turned back to the other man and hesitantly approached him. "… Z-Zigfried?" he hesitantly asked.
The new male looked at him, then dropped his spear and shield as he closed the gap and hugged Leon. Leon immediately hugged him back, tears falling as he did so. "…..Leon? I-Is zhat really you?" said Zigfried, his own tears falling. The two pulled apart as Critias walked up to them, the knight taking over and hugging Zigfried, briefly kissing him. "We've missed you so much Zigfried…." he said as they pulled apart slightly.
"V-Vhat happened to me? I-I remember….. pain, z-zhen…. Nozhing…" Zigfried said, looking around. "Zigfried…. You…. You fell from a balcony while we were at Pegasus' castle during the panic Bandit Keith caused… you…. Y-you've been dead for 12 years…" said Leon, trying to hold back more tears as he told his brother what happened. "…. V-vhat? But, how can zhat be? I-I'm standing here, aren't I?" Zigfried asked, then he got a good look at his brother.
"L-Leon… y-you're all grown up… h-have I really been dead?" he asked, looking between Leon and Critias. Critias nodded, a soft smile coming onto his face. "But you've been brought back to us….. after learning what happened, Pegasus created a card in your honor and gave it to us… it took him some time to get it right… he didn't want to make it like the other Valkyrie cards, so he took a few years to perfect it…." the knight explained, gently taking Zigfried's hand.
Zigfried looked at their hands, then examined his free hand as he finally noticed the armor he was wearing. "I… I'm a Duel monster now?" he asked in awe. Leon nodded and removed the card from his Duel disk, thankful that KaibaCorp had made it possible for Duel monsters to not simply vanish once their cards have been removed from the tech. Leon held the card up, allowing his brother to see it clearly.
"`Zigfried, Master of the Valkyries`…" said Leon, allowing his brother to gently take it from his hand. "I merged out decks together and put it in my deck, so even though you're not physically around I always have you with me…. Plus, as a Duel Monster you can stay with Critias in the Duel monster realm! Your human body may be gone, but your spirit can be with us forever!" Leon explained, smiling. Zigfried looked over the card, a small smile slowly coming onto his own face. "Forever… I like that…." he said, glad to be back with those he loved.
