-Chapter 20!-
•••
It's been about a month and a half now since Andy and Robert have been engaged and since then a lot has happened within those weeks.
Robert was offered the Battalion Chief position of which he will be reintroduced into the station in a couple of weeks along with the naming of someone else to fill in his current position.
Even though they've only been engaged for a short amount of time, both Andy and Robert have already decided to not wait any longer and to get married as soon as possible.
Andy didn't want a formal wedding and neither did Robert so they both settled on a location, with just the firehouse and Ryan, Pruitt and Lucas. They also invited a few people from Grey Sloan considering they're all a part of the family.
"So what you're saying is you've already picked out your dress?" Vic asked, walking down the aisle of the supermarket.
"Correct, it's a white long flowy dress with a v opening in the front and an open back. I didn't want an actual wedding dress considering everything is being kept small." Andy replied, picking up the pasta noodles and throwing it into the cart.
"The colors are still going to be a light mauve and cream right?" She asked, ensuring that Andy had everything in line.
Andy didn't want to choose a maid of honor so she just decided on keeping Vic and Maya as her bridesmaids, seeing that they'll help her no matter the title. She also didn't want to hire a planner considering the length of the wedding so she planned it herself.
"Correct, everything's in place and what needs to be ordered is ordered. The only thing I haven't seen is Roberts attire but I know it isn't a suit so it makes me worried but I have faith in my fiancé" Andy smiled at the word she used for him considering it is a word she is going to be changing soon.
Both Andy and Vic grabbed the last of the grocery's for the station and quickly paid for it and drove back to the station.
—
"That call was crazy," Dean said loudly, busting into the beanery and grabbing a bottle of water out of the fridge.
The rest of the team slowly made their way in as well and dropped themselves into the chairs around the table indicating that the call they just had was anything but easy.
"Dinner is almost ready" Vic said, breaking the silence which resulted in everyone cheering.
"Hmmm I see Andy learned a thing or two" Travis said walking over and looking into the big pot of spaghetti and meatballs.
"Ahh I wouldn't say that Montgomery, she actually cooks really well" Robert said coming into the beanery to join everyone which makes them all have a surprised look.
Andy turned her head away from the stove and looked over at Robert and smiled.
"Sullivan joined us for dinner..after a call." Maya said, dragging out her words due to the fact that this wasn't a sight that was always seen.
"Guys come on it isn't that serious" Andy said looking over at her team who gave her a questioning look.
"Fine maybe it is a rare occurrence but on the bright side the foods ready"
Everyone grabbed their bowls and got their servings and went back to sit.
"Andy, how was your dad's reaction? I don't remember hearing if you already told" Ben asked, taking a sip of water from his glass.
"He reacted better than I thought, he wasn't mad or anything and he trusted Robert enough to give him his blessing so that's enough confirmation to prove he's ok with it." She answered.
After all questions were asked, everyone started scrolling through their phones or partaking in smaller conversations around the table and some went and got second servings.
"I have a call with Ripley in my office. The food was amazing as always, come see me before you turn in for the night if there are no calls before you get down." Robert said, whispering into Andys ear and giving her a quick kiss on her cheek.
"Herrera really is going to be married" Jack said tapping his fingers along the table which is something he normally does.
"Yes indeed I am"
—
"Sullivan" Lucas said through the phone sitting back in his own office chair.
"Lucas Ripley"
"Long time no talk, what I am a ghost now?" He asked, laughing and taking a sip of coffee that sat on his desk.
"You're not a ghost, I'm just busy right now with everything and spending time with Andy since our jobs don't give us much time and also since we don't live together." Robert answered truthfully because they work long hours and of course they have days off but it's usually spent with Andy being with her dad or Ryan and then the girls which he completely understood due to the fact that he isn't the only one in her life.
"That's why we talk mostly at night."
"Are you ready to be married?" Lucas asked in which Robert took a deep breath and released it slowly.
"Marriage is a commitment. It's not something that should be done within an hour's time frame of just knowing the person. It's something that develops over time and it's like a flower that starts out from nothing and as you water it and take care of it,it'll eventually become the something that you're expecting to see. With Andy man I am super excited that I'm settling with her, I am ready to take on this next journey with her and I haven't said this aloud yet but damn I'm grateful that our loneliness dragged us into a dating app and allowed us to find each other because with her I see forever." Robert answered looking over at the picture frame on his desk of the two of them back on their vacation in Spain a while ago.
"It's so nice seeing you in love, Sully. I'm happy for you and I'm happy for both Pruitt and Andrea" He commented laughing at his last sentence.
"Pruitt Herrera has nothing to worry about with me and Andy and I'll make sure of that."
"It's getting late and I should probably head home now from this office, but me and you have some in person catching up to do so when your shift is over text me your available day and time"
" Lucas" Robert said, ending the call and standing up from the chair.
After changing into a plain tshirt and some gym shorts, he grabbed his phone and a face towel and went into the workout room.
—
"Andy" He said walking through the door, seeing his beautiful fiancée all sweaty on the floor doing push-ups.
"How was your call with Lucas?" She asked, continuing trying to get to 50 push-ups.
"Good, just got told that I have to spend more time with him" He responded laughing.
After he stretched out his arms and his legs he began doing his usual workout for about 30 minutes looking over at Andy every now and then.
"I'm so tired," Andy said, sitting on the floor chugging from her water bottle.
"Thought you would have better stamina considering your firefighter Herrera, Lieutenant of Station 19 and daughter of the famous first responder Pruitt Herrera." Robert teased.
"Maybe after our wedding night, you're going to have to do something that could help build up my stamina" Andy said, winking over at him before getting up and walking over to him.
"You're going to regret ever saying that" He said leaning down to kiss her.
Andy rolled her eyes at him and walked away from him and into the showers. She stayed in there for about 15 minutes letting the hot water beat against her back.
Realizing that she should probably get some sleep in case of a call, she got out and dried herself off and changed into comfortable clothes and went into her bunk.
She texted Robert 'Goodnight' and fell asleep soon after.
