"So, we're just gonna go over unannounced and all?" Marluxia asked from the doorway. "Isn't that kind of rude?"

Vexen sighed and speed-dialed his mother. As soon as she picked up, she began a barrage of criticisms and why-didn't-you-call-me's. Vexen rolled his eyes and set the phone down on the nearest surface, letting her rant. When she was done, he said, "Yes, Mother, you're quite right, and that's why I'm coming to visit you right now."

A beat of silence followed, then the line went dead.

Marluxia raised his eyebrows once Vexen had put down the phone, his head tilted to one side. "She seems… pleasant. Was that a good hang up or a bad one?"

"Well, she didn't start yelling again," said Vexen, squeezing his eyes shut and then opening them again. "She'll probably behave herself when she sees Mia. She loves girls. She wishes I'd been one."

"Well then, she'll come as our secret weapon." Marluxia smiled, going over to Vexen and kissing him lightly. "Shall we go? We've still got the rental."

Vexen nodded and headed outside, waiting by the car, unsure if it was unlocked

The twins followed after him, Mia in Marluxia's arms and Al twirling the car keys on his finger.

"Where we headed?" Al asked as he slid into the driver's seat and Marluxia settled into the back seat with Amelia.

"5103 Perring Drive," said Vexen, settling into the passenger seat.

Al nodded in acknowledge and pulled out onto the road, turning the stereo on after about three minutes of silence filled the car.

Vexen immediately stuffed earplugs in his ears. He had no interest in going deaf anytime soon.
