"I wonder how she's doing," Anakin pondered aloud while he and his master sat in wait.
Obi Wan smirked at him, "In the little time we've known her, you seem to have gotten attached already."
"When I saw her, I felt something, master. I don't know what it is, but I feel as though I need the child beside me. If I was a Jedi Master, I'd put my hand up in a heartbeat to mentor her."
Obi Wan put a hand on his shoulder, "I felt a disturbance, my young padawan. Even I would take her on and train you both. But, unfortunately, Jedi can't train two padawans at once."
A woman in red and gold Jedi robes walked towards them. Her long wavy hair shone like black silk in the lights. When her emerald-green eyes landed on the two, a smile formed on her face.
"Good afternoon, Master Obi Wan," she greeted, sitting beside them, "Good afternoon, Anakin."
"Afternoon, Sarai," Obi Wan replied.
"What are you two sitting out here for?"
"We found a young girl on Hikaar. We were too late to save her village. So, now we're waiting for her testing to finish," Anakin answered.
Sarai cocked her head to the side, "I take it she's Force Sensitive, then."
"Yes. She destroyed the village huts when she found all her people were dead."
Her eyes widened a little in shock. Before Sarai could ask another question, the huge metal doors to the Council room whoosed open. A young girl ran to them once the doors closed.
"I did it," she exclaimed excitedly, "I passed the test!"
"Oh, that's wonderful," Anakin beamed.
Hazazelle looked over at Obi Wan, "Master Windu asked to see you and Anakin."
Obi Wan smiled and nodded as he stood, "Alright, then. Hazazelle, this is Master Yoda's padawan, Sarai. She's Anakin's twin sister. She'll take care of you while we're in Council."
Hazazelle bowed, "Yes, Master Kenobi."
Sarai felt that there was more to this girl than what everyone else thought. When she saw her, she had felt a disturbance, one she could not explain. Sarai smiled anyway and gestured for the white-haired girl to follow.
"Come along, Hazazelle," she said as she began moving off, "Let's go get some robes fitted for you."
"Okay."
Anakin watched with a smile while Hazazelle skipped after Sarai. There were times when he wished he could already become a Jedi Master; right now, that's what Anakin wanted above everything else.
"Come along, Anakin," Obi Wan gestured for him to follow.
Anakin sighed and followed his master. All eyes turned on them when they entered. Kenobi and Skywalker bowed.
"You wanted to see us, masters?"
Yoda nodded, "Decided Hazazelle's master, we have."
Anakin shifted in his spot.
"Although you are still a Padawan, Anakin, you will be Hazazelle's mentor," Windu announced, "If Obi Wan - or any of us - feels the need to intervene, then we will do so. Understood?"
A smile as bright as the Sun covered Anakin's face, "Yes. Thank you, masters."
"But, Master Windu, Anakin hasn't even completed any trials yet. He's not ready," Obi Wan objected.
"The Council has decided, Obi Wan. Our minds have been made."
Obi Wan sighed and nodded. Anakin looked over at his master. He couldn't believe he said that he wasn't ready; if the Jedi Council thought he was ready, why didn't he?
"You and Obi Wan will take Hazazelle to the Kyber Caves tomorrow so she can build her Lightsaber. Good luck, Anakin. May the Force be with you."
"Thank you," Anakin and Obi Wan bowed, "May the Force be with you, also."
With that, the two walked out to tell Hazazelle and Sarai the news.
The next day, Hazazelle gittered uneasily in her seat. She was over-the-moon to have Anakin as her master… however… to make her Lightsaber at the Kyber Caves, Hazazelle needed to stay there for a whole week on her own. She had never been by herself before.
"You'll do fine, Hazazelle," Anakin said reassuringly, putting a hand on her arm.
Her blue orbs looked up at him, "How will I know which Kyber Crystal to use, Master Skywalker?"
"Don't think about it. Just let your feelings guide you - let the Force guide you. Then you will know."
Hazazelle nodded. She drew in a deep breath as the ship stopped.
"I'll pick you up in a week," Anakin stated, "May the Force be with you."
"And with you, master."
Once Hazazelle got out and her boots touched the rocky ground, a surge of Force Energy flowed through her veins. With a bag on her back holding everything she would need to make her Lightsaber, without looking back, she made her way into the Caves.
When she entered, the Kyber Caves were just like any other cave. It was dark and damp, seeming to be more so the further she walked. She sighed and thought about turning back, but shook her head.
Hazazelle's eyes narrowed in determination and let her feelings - the Force - guide her.
As she began to round a corner, a dim light flooded into the tunnel. In her soul, she could feel something pulling her towards it.
Hazazelle's blue eyes sparkled in wonder.
"Whoa," she breathed.
Hazazelle slowed her pace once she came to a huge cavern. Blue and green Kyber Crystals that grew along the cavern's stone walls lit up the place. The Crystal's light reflected in a perfectly clear pool in the middle.
With a sigh of amazement, she placed herself on the ground. The rock was warmer than what she thought. Hazazelle took the bag from her back and put it on the ground in front of her. She carefully removed the contents.
With her mind focused with a deadly seriousness, Hazazelle began creating her Lightsaber.
For two days straight, Hazazelle worked on her Lightsaber. Letting the Force tell her what to do, she had finally completed it.
With a smirk of satisfaction, she tried to stand. However, because she had been seated in the same position for two days, the lower half of her body felt numb. Hazazelle furrowed her brows.
She swiftly stood, ignoring the numbness. She almost fell but caught herself before she fell too far.
With her hands steadying her, she let her body become re-accustomed to standing once more. Once the tingling was gone, Hazazelle made her way over to the pool. She looked down into the water. It was so deep she could only see a gaping black hole staring back at her.
The tug in her soul was telling her to go down there. She had followed her feelings for this long; if they were going to betray her, they would have done it by now.
Hazazelle took a few steps back. She placed her newly made weapon on the ground.
Deep breath in… deep breath out…
She sprinted towards the water. When her brown leather boots touched the edge, she held a deep breath as she jumped.
SPLASH!
Hazazelle opened her eyes and followed the pull. It continued to lead her down until she felt as though she couldn't hold her breath any longer. She swam into an off-chute tunnel.
She kept swimming. The further and further she got, the darker the tunnel became until she couldn't see at all.
"I'm going to die down here," she thought to herself.
But, the moment she was about to give up, she broke the water's surface. With a huge gasp, much needed air flooded her lungs. Breathing quickly, she continued to go forward. Before she knew it, Hazazelle was dragging herself onto dry land.
Hazazelle's three-day-old black and red 'Youngling Robes' weighed on her, dripping with the cold water. She turned and lay on her back, closing her eyes as she caught her breath.
After a few moments, Hazazelle opened her eyes. Her eyes widened, though she wasn't sure what emotions she felt. She didn't know if she was amazed or scared; excited or terrified.
The smaller cavern's roof opened up to reveal the dark, starry sky. The rough rocky outcroppings pointed towards each other, making Hazazelle feel like she was looking out of a beast's jaws.
Hazazelle slowly stood. She looked around the cave, the feeling in her chest even stronger than ever. Hazazelle followed the invisible path deeper into the darkening cave.
Right in the middle of the seemingly wet rock was an orange Kyber Crystal. It slightly protruded out of the black rock. The Crystals' bright light pulsated in time with the Hikaarian's heart.
Hazazelle walked up to it, the light reflecting in her wonderfilled blue eyes. She carefully put her hands on it, feeling an electric energy fizzle through her nerves. She gently pulled the Crystal out of the rock and caressed it in her hands. She stroked it gently for a few moments before shoving it safely into a pocket on the inside of her still soaking robes. With a satisfied smirk, Hazazelle went back the way she came.
