Maze leaves Lucifer on his lonesome to have a look around and maybe have fun with the centaurs (he thinks). The Lord of Hell merely shrugs and lets her be.

The penthouse is different, created to the Goddess' liking, and he finds he doesn't dislike the feel of the place, but he can't quite say he truly likes it either. Except for the fact that the manager downstairs has the same face and voice like the Detective who rejected him.

The idea of starting a new life hasn't eluded him ever since the meetup. This person, Lauren, could accept him for who he is — because, hey, they have mythical creatures in this universe walking on the street, and no one seems to bat an eye — Maybe he could just permanently leave his old life behind to be happy finally. Not that he's planning to pursue her or anything.

Yet he wants the same with the Detective. Despite what she tried to do, she's a good person and deserves some type of closure. One that he may not be able to grant. Not because he doesn't want to, but because he doesn't know if he's strong enough to let her go.

All Lucifer knows at the moment is that he's disappointed, having thought that the Detective would know better. But, then again, to err is human.

The sound of the elevator's ping takes him out of his reverie, and is greeted by a familiar face. One he'd rather steer clear off until everything else is sorted.

"Hi again."

"Hello. To what do I owe this pleasure?"

"Just wanted to let you know that I'm headed home, but I gave instructions to accommodate any of your requests. The owner said, you're VIP so,"

"I'm good, Det- Miss James. Thank you for your hospitality."

"I wouldn't call it that. I'm just following orders. But, you're welcome."

When she's finally out of sight, he breathes a sigh of relief because she's doing things to him that he can't quite explain. It's as if she's the actual Detective even though he knows she's not.

Chloe says good night to her daughter over the phone and is left to wonder again how things would have been different if she realized sooner; that it doesn't matter if he's the devil or not. Lucifer is her partner. That's all that matters.

Now, if he could just haul his ass back from wherever he is so that she could tell him that.

Amenadiel lands on the balcony and into an empty penthouse. He's half-expecting Lucifer to be here since the club won't be open until nighttime, but there's no sign of him anywhere.

He shrugs and heads over to Linda's office during her lunchtime.

"Hey, Linda."

"Amenadiel!" The therapist says, a little chirpier than normal, and then gestures with her index finger for him to hold his thought so that she could send a text.

"Too happy to see me?"

"Ehhh, you can say that. Umm, I didn't know how to contact you."

"You could just ask Lucifer," But Linda cuts him off

"That's the thing. Lucifer isn't here. We're not sure where he is."

"Hmm. He's probably in one of his other properties,"

"Or, he could be in Hell. Maze isn't here either."

"Oh. I'll uh, I'll take a look." Linda blinks, and the dark angel vanishes but a few seconds later, he re-emerges, startling the former.

"That was fast,"

"They're not in Hell." He smiles and continues, "So, yeah, he must be in one of his properties. It's gonna take a while for me to check all of them, but," He pauses, "What happened anyway?"

"You might want to sit down."

"Oh."

Chloe's on her third glass of red wine when her phone vibrates. Her eyes almost bulge out of their socket when she sees the text. She then grabs her keys and heads off to Linda's house.

Chloe's panting when she gets to the Dr's apartment, anxious to hear good news.

"Lucifer's in Hell, isn't he? Can you please tell him to come back?"

"Luci's not in Hell."

"What? Oh. He must be in another state. Ah, Vegas!" Chloe runs her hand through her hair, frustrated. "I'll, I'll book a flight, or, or, maybe you can take me there?"

"I'll check his other properties, Chloe. But to me, it looks like he does not want to be found."

"I-I just need to talk to him, ok? Please?"

"Chloe, you tried to poison him,"

"I know , ok? I know." Her voice breaks at the last word.

Amenadiel sighs.

"It's going to take some time for him to process. The last thing he needs is a sibling breathing down his neck. He'll come around, Chloe."

"You don't understand. I've said things… I want to make it right."

"What's the verdict in Mum's universe?"

"Meh." The demon shrugs while Lucifer rolls his eyes at her nonchalance.

"Do you think I should stay?"

"I think you can do whatever the Hell you want." Mazikeen tells him matter-of-factly, annoyed at his sulking. It's not like the demons in Hell haven't tried to poison him, too. But then again, they're not Chloe.

"You're right. What about you? Do you want to stay here?"

Maze shrugs again. "It's not like I have a choice."

"But you do. I can take you back and drop you off in Hell if that's what you want."

The demon takes an inquisitive look at her former master, surprised at the offer. He's never asked what she wanted before.

"Nah. Who's gonna watch your back if I'm there?"

"But you're not my servant anymore. And I'm not exactly helpless,"

"I don't care," Maze raises her brows, "One way or another, you better make your mind up."

"I should do that, shouldn't I?"

"Well, duh ." Another eye roll.
