Maybe I should have thought about how to end the last chapter better. Oh well, what's done is done.

Chapter 7

P.O.V Jaden

I jolted up. I looked around and found myself in an unfamiliar place. It was a simple room. Nice enough to assume it was a guest room. My backpack was on the floor next to my shoes.

I clutched my head as everything came back to me. I was attacked by old bullies and they were mocking Ryan...and someone else came into the fray.

Old memories were floating around my head but this time they were altred. Someone new was within them. A girl. Eveleen. She was always worried about us. She had taken her own life when she was twelve. The bullying had become too much for her and her parents didn't know or care.

Was my life always so sad?

She had a quirk all right, one that could alter memories of sleeping people. She was called a villain by some and others said her quirk was useless.

She must have erased our memories of her before she went off.

Right before I could have asked her out... Of course.

Everyone around me seems to get the shit end of the stick. Ryans dead, Izuku has no quirk, I wasn't strong enough and treated as quirkless, Eveleen is already dead and was treated as a villain, and my family was stuck with a weak son, not to mention the fighting club was destroyed and nearly everyone was injured.

Something about the move I did, Ice phoenix, seemed familiar. Was it something Eveleen had come up with? That is very likely. She was very creative, all my ideas have come from elsewhere.

For example Ice-

"OI DUMBASS YOU UP YET?" A certain loud voice had cut off my train of thought.

"KATSUKI DON'T YELL AT GUESTS. I THOUGHT I TAUGHT YOU BETTER THAN THAT" Is that...a female Katsuki?

"Uh-Yeah I'm up" I yelled back

Suddenly the door to the room I was in was kicked open revealing whose house this was. Katsuki Bakugo's house...Why does my luck suck?

"I took care of those extras messing with you back there," He said softly

"Thanks for that"

"DON'T THINK I CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU! I'M GOING TO BE THE BEST HERO AND CAN'T JUST WATCH YOU BE BULLIED"

Does he remember who I am? No that can't be possible, Izuku didn't recognize me but Bakugo was always smarter than he acted

"I get it. Thanks."

"I heard about your friend. And that other chick."

I felt my emotions flare and I quickly suppressed them. "Shame, they both could have been amazing heroes."

"I hope that's true."

I looked at him in shock, "Wha-?"

"You got some skills, Id hate to hear that you were hanging with some weaklings"

Another flare of anger, this time I didn't hesitate to get up, grab my backpack and slide past him through the door. I don't want to fight him, not here, not now, or anywhere.

As I walked down the stairs I called over my shoulder, "Thanks for your help and all. I'll be leaving now. See you tomorrow"

At the bottom of the stairs was a...older bakugo...with boobs.

"I'm sorry about Katsuki he's so hard to-"

"It's fine Mrs. Bakugo. It's not as bad as what I'm used to."

As I slipped on my shoes I said "You have a lovely home"

"Your Jaden Kasai right?"

I froze at the mention of my name. "You remember huh?" I said slowly

She nodded, "I remember the names of all the people that were friends with Katsuki when he was a child."

I turned to face her and said softly, "I was never friends with your son. I had very few friends back then and that hasn't changed sadly. I was more of a pest to Bakugo back then. He never bothered to learn my name" I had said this with a small sad smile. "I just wish he has someone to lean on when he needs it."

I felt the glare of Bakugo hitting me from the stairs. "I'll be off. Sorry for intruding and Thank you for taking me in here"

I heard "It was no problem" as I closed the door and walked away.

I looked around, it was getting late and I seemed to be far from home.

How did I get my memories back? Was there some kind of time limit? Or is it that they have a trigger? Maybe if your life is in danger?

If that was true, Ryan knew before he died. What if the trigger was Ice Phoenix? That was the first time I even thought about it in years.

I was just walking and before I knew it, I was at the building. Where I thought the start and end was. No this is the start now and the end is when I get my revenge.

Ryan's death will be settled and Eveleen's memory will be recognized.

"I guess you plan on sleeping here huh?" A voice said behind me

I turned and saw my sister standing there. "I most likely will"

"You spend a lot of time standing with this sad look on your face. Everyone can see it, and no one likes it."

"Fine, I'll just put these feelings aside then" I looked at her, "Is that you want Sky?"

"NO, What I want is for you to get out of the past"

"You know," I walked over and placed my hands on my sister's shoulders, "For the youngest, you sure like to act like the boss of everyone."

"I'm just telling you that-"

"Shut up. I know what I have to do."

"Then what-"

"Am I waiting for? I'm waiting for me to finish grieving."

"Oh"

"Tell mom and dad where I am, and that I might not come back to the house for a bit"

"YOU DOING WHAT?"

"Think of it as a... self-discovery trip."

"You think anyone will take that as an answer?!" She was yelling now, why can't she just understand?

"I had to, and this time everyone will deal with it. You'll either find me here or at school, one or the other, and just so you know, I don't plan on going anywhere else."

"Ah"

I pushed her in the general direction of the house and she walked away slowly.

I turned to the place where I spent my time with friends, one of which is gone, and spat at it.

"You helped me be strong before and this time I need you to hurry it up."

I walked in and started to dust off the combat robots. I went to clean to control panel and went to what used to be Ryan's office. I took a knife and carved his name onto the door as a reminder to everyone to see it.

I changed the employee of the year picture and name to Ryan with a picture of him, he was wearing the outfit of a blacksmith, simple brown and a metal mask up, his hair was wild as ever with a bit of grease on his face and a massive smile.

It was the picture on his fake ID. His best picture, he said it high lights his "Hotness".

"He really was too good for this world" It was Lilly

"You here too huh?"

"Yeah"

"Come here to think about all the time you spent with him?"

"I have, do you come here to think you should have let him 'smash'?" I said plainly with the air quotes

"WAIT NO NO NO NO" She screamed frantically

"SO you didn't want to commit to him?" I asked critically with my eyebrow lifting

"Wait wait wait, Jaden stop teasing me!" She yelled.

If this was some anime she would have grown in size towering over me while having a large red mark showing how irritated she was.

Sigh It still felt weird talking about Ryan in paste tense. In a way, I just hope that this had been some horrible nightmare but if that was true then so many of the good things that happened would be gone too.

"Lilly, I got to tell you something"

She went rigid at the sound of my serious voice. "What is it?" That was all she said slowly.

"I think my quirk is something different. It's not frost or permafrost"

"What do you mean?"

"I think...I can copy quirks"

"Wait how?"

"I'm still trying to figure it out myself but I recently copied the quirk of a classmate and it seems to have powered up my already existing quirk"

"Uh-huh"

"Now I lost my control over it because it now seems too strong for me now"

"So you're going to put yourself through more training?"

"Yeah"

"But you know what will happen if you overdo it"

I looked at her skeptically, "Do you know?"

"...yes"

"Ryan told you huh?"

"He did"

The true nature of permafrost is to create and control ice. It wants to freeze everything, me included. If I use it too much, it could freeze my body enough to kill me.

Ryan had learned this through some tests. Sometimes I would lose feeling in my limbs after a bit too much use and he deducted that I could freeze myself to death.

"Well, now you know, At night put me next to a heater to thaw and melt whatever I intend to use"

"Jaden...Please don't make jokes" She sounded fragile

"I'm sorr-"

"Just promise me! I don't want to lose anyone or anything else!" She had cut me off for the first time in the years I had known her.

"I promise Lilly, In fact," I could feel the cringe of my statement internally, "I'm going to live. I'm not going to die on you."

"Jaden, I know you have lost a lot too, so don't let your life be the next thing" She was crying now. I don't blame her. She hasn't cried in front of anyone. She smiled from time to time and laughed but anyone with experience could see it was fake. She probably cried at night, and she couldn't take it anymore.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her into a room. It was Ryans. Only a hat or two was destroyed. "Sleep here tonight, if you need me I'll be training"

I left her to be with her feelings alone. Tomorrow, after school, I will comfort her.

Now I stood alone in the dark pulling on a foreign power. This new power I had, I will use it, I will hone my skills with it, and I will master it. Ice can wait. This is something that could be the deciding factor.
