Titan's Curse-Prologue
"Have you slumbered enough, Oh Great King of Beasts?"
A snarl was the answer the King of Titans received.
"Do you not wish to feast on demigod flesh? To rend and tear, to devour? To show your superiority? To punish the gods? Remember how they fooled you, Stripped you of your armour? Do you not want recompense?"
"Enough of your honeyed words. I had millenniums to hate, millenniums to hunt and devour their children. But in the end, it was your war that cost me everything. I should take recompense from you now shouldn't I?"
"There's no need for that, oh King of Beasts, for I can give everything back."
"... How?"
"The millenniums you spent killing children, I was regaining my form, my energy, my conscious. Whilst you hunted lambs, I prepared for war. Whilst you were feasting upon Heracles, I was gathering the remnants of my army in secret. Freeing my brothers. Recreating your legions. Now, they are ready. They are hungry. They are hungry for revenge. Your legions. My legions. You were mighty once. My children fled at your very name. You were the Devourer. The Undisputed Golden Warrior. You and your Hellhounds legion were feared throughout the pantheons. What of that warrior? Has the proud King of Beast, The unconquered one, been defeated? Has time made you weak? Has the time in this cave dulled your claws? Has the Great King of The Forest been brought low by one battle-"
"Spare me your honeyed words!"
"Oh, I see now. What if I can give her back? What if I can give you back your Rider? The Daughter of My nephew."
"..."
"Join me once more, and I shall relieve her of her pain. Of her loneliness. Oh, the cruelty the Gods bestowed upon her as a kindness."
"..."
"Join me, in my army and I can assure you she will be freed, her foolishness forgiven. Join me, and you will be reunited with your Calypso."
"...promise me she will not fight. She will not enter a battlefield."
"I learnt from my mistakes, Golden King. She is not a fighter. She will not fight. She will be with her sisters and father. Now, are we in agreement, Oh Great king?"
I knelt, my nose touching the floor. The dust of my cave blew away as my powerful tail swished back and forth.
"Hail to the King. Hail to the King of Titans."
His chuckle, gratingly deep, reverberated through the cave.
"Meet my brethren in the Land they called America. There, the war shall begin."
I am coming for you, Calypso. You will suffer no longer.
