He reached for her and pressed their lips together. Toph was surprised to say the least. She rested her hand on his forearm. They lingered for a moment too long before Toph pulled back and whipped her lips with the back of her hand. She looked down, to avoid eye contact and to hide her red face.

"Uhh… Thanks, for the um- goodbye kiss? Uh, bye" And like that, she left.

Sokka grunted and facepalmed from embarrassment. "Why did I do that?!" He groaned.

Toph rushed to her car and got in. She immediately locked the door (Because women aren't safe when they're alone at night) and turned on the car. She immediately drove away from her spot and went home. She had a feeling Sokka would walk out to talk to her and apologise. But right now was not the time to talk about it.

Of course she's thought about them sharing a kiss, but she didn't think it'd ever happen. Ever. And if it did, she didn't think it'd be right after she got out of a relationship. Oh things will definitely be awkward at school.

Toph had a few hours of sleep before she woke to her alarm at 5:50am. Why do her parents want to have a meeting this early? Toph groaned and reached for her phone to turn off the alarm. It didn't take long for her to remember what happened earlier. She groaned and - hesitantly - got out of bed. She quickly brushed her teeth and brushed her hair, and walked out of her room. She announced her presence with a loud yawn as she walked into the kitchen and sat on a stool from under the island.

"Morning Toph," Said Nora

"Mornin'"

Toph scrolled through her phone to pass time while she waited for her parents to get home. She put down her phone when she heard a beep from the front of the house, signaling that her parents were home. She got up and walked to the front where she found the maids putting down her parents luggage, and her parents walking in.

"Toph!" her mother said once she saw her daughter.

"Hey mom" Toph walked over to her and welcomed her with a hug

"Sorry we've been out of town for so long,"

"It's alright mom, Nora's been keeping me company," Toph said, pulling back from the hug.

"I'm glad"

"Just to remind you two, I'm going to the homecoming game tonight and tomorrow is the homecoming dance," Why did I just say that? I don't even know if I'm still going to the game.

"Yes, we remember." Lao, Toph's dad, said.

"Shouldn't you be getting ready?"

"Well usually I'd be asleep right now, given that there's two and a half hours until school starts. But you guys said that there was something we needed to talk about?"

"Oh right, that's what we forgot." Lao said

"Oh right, let's go to your father's office" Poppy, Toph's mom, said.

Everyone settled in the office, Lao taking his seat behind the desk and Poppy & Toph sitting in front.

"To start with today's meeting. On our way back here, we got a call from Kanto's family." Lao started, "His father said that you two broke up?"

Toph moved uncomfortably in her seat. She hadn't told her parents about the breakup yet because she knew they liked him.

"Yeah, we broke up"

"Why is that?"

"We weren't working out. I wasn't happy" She explained

Her parents looked at each other, giving an unsure look. "So who's taking you to the homecoming dance then?" Her mother asked

"Uh, I'll just go with my friends. Not all of us have dates so it'll be fine"

Her mother reached over and put a hand over her daughters. "I'm sorry about your breakup,"

"It's okay, I never really saw myself with him in the future"

Poppy pouted before changing the conversation to a different subject. "Well, other than that. We wanted to also talk about your birthday party that is coming up. Your turning 18"

"Do I really need a party? Why not a small get together with my friends?"

"You're turning 18 and finally becoming an adult. It's only right to celebrate your new milestone"

Toph could sit there and argue all day if she wanted to, but right now wasn't the time for that and she wasn't in the mood either. She had other things to worry about. Toph sighed, "Fine" she gave in.

"Great! I already have sketches of dress you could wear,"

"Cool. Listen, can we do this later? I have to get ready for school and I have to present today in class for a project and I would like to prepare for it"

"Sure, we can look through these later." Her mom said

Toph excused herself and made her way to her room. She fell onto her bed with a groan. Today would be a very dreadful day.

Toph left her house earlier than she usually would, in hopes it would give her time to hide from Sokka. Thankfully when she got to her parking spot, Sokka wasn't there. She quickly grabbed her stuff and made her way to campus. She stayed in the library until the first bell rang for first period.

Sokka face planted onto the couch after Toph left, out of embarrassment. It wasn't until he heard his alarm go off that he realized he had fallen asleep.

He looked at the time and realized he had actually overslept. He quickly got up and got ready. He got dressed, grabbed his school and sports bag and project - that he totally didn't almost forget - and ran out the door. He got in his car and made his way to school. When he parked in his spot, he saw Toph's car and remembered about last night.

I have to talk to Toph He told himself. As soon as he stepped on campus he heard the bell ring. He sighs, I guess we'll have to wait

All morning Toph had been avoiding Sokka. Instead of going her usual routes to her classes, she went different ways in an effort to avoid Sokka. There was a time during passing period that she almost ran into him. Thankfully he didn't see her.

When it was lunch time, Toph chose to go around the cafeteria and table where everyone usually sat. She was planning on hanging out with Tessa today.

As she was walking around the corner she saw him. And somehow in the crowded hallway, they made eye contact. "Aw shit" she told herself

"Toph" She heard from behind her. She turned around to see her cousin. She looked back and saw Sokka trying to make his way through the people to get to Toph. She looked back at her cousin and said, "We have to go now!" She demanded and pulled them away from the hallway.

Once Sokka saw Toph walking away he called after her.

"Toph someone's calling for you" Tessa said

"Ignore it!"

They stopped behind a building once they were away from the hallway and somewhere Sokka couldn't find them. Toph groaned as she took off her backpack and leaned against the wall.

"If you think I'm going to ignore the fact that you ran away from your best friend back there… your wrong"

Toph groaned in response. "It's nothing that concerns you. Earlier he texted me asking if I had a dollar so he could buy a drink from the vending machine. I said no but we all know I do so that's why he's after me" She lied

Tess chuckles, "That I can relate to. And they say they would pay you back but they never do" They both laughed. "I still haven't gotten my $10 from the little bitch Haru. He's owed me that money since 8th grade," Tess remembered.

Toph laughed, "I hate to break it to you, but you ain't getting that money back any time soon"

Tess laughed, "I'm afraid your right"

"When am I not?"

Tess rolled her eyes. "Hey are you going to the game tonight?" Tess asked.

Oh shit I forgot about the game Toph told herself. "I don't think so"

"Aww why? You've only gone to like one football game and that's it. Besides, Sokka's playing. Why don't you go support him?"

"He can get support from his friends"

"Speaking of friends. Did you hear that he and Suki broke up?"

Toph raised an eyebrow as an act of surprise. "Really?"

"Yeah. I heard it was because she was jealous of you"

Her eyes widened and she could feel her face heat up. "Excuse me?"

"Yeah. Now spill, I need the details"

"There are no details. I don't know what your talking about"

"Mhm. Well tell me when Sokka confesses his love for you" she teased

"Shut up" Toph said out loud, punching her in the shoulder. "Nothing is going to happen between us. Besides, where did you hear all this?" she asked curiously.

"Well while I was in the restroom during second period, Suki walked in crying with someone else and then she started to rant about how Sokka doesn't love her anymore and likes you instead. And then she talked about how she imagined her and Sokka growing old together and having kids and whatnot and how the relationship is all thrown away now"

Toph blinked, "wow"

"Congrats Toph, you stole someone's man"

"Haha, shut up" She punched her in the shoulder.

After lunch, Toph went to her second to last class. Usually time seemed to go by slow in that class. But today of all days, it felt like it went by quickly. And next thing she knew, the bell for passing period had rang and she had to leave the class. As everyone walked out of class, the intercom turned on

"Attention all football players, please start making your way to the locker rooms to practice for the game. The game starts at 6:30, you won't want to miss it. Hope to see you there" The principal announced.

"That means Sokka won't be in class today. Which also means I'll have to do the presentation alone" She sighed.

As Toph walked into class, she heard someone call her name. A pit formed in her stomach and she hesitantly turned to the sound of the source.

"Shouldn't you be heading to the locker room?" Toph said once he was close

"I still have time to get there, it's not that far from here. Listen-"

"Now is not a great time to talk about things. Especially here where everyone can hear" She gestured around them

"Then when can we talk? You keep on avoiding me"

Toph shrugged, "Whenever the time comes" she turned around and started making her way back in class. But not before Sokka grasped her shoulder and turned her around.

"Are you coming to the game?"

"I don't know"

"Come. We can talk after"

She was quiet for a moment before responding. "I'll think about it"

I would like to apologize for not updating this book :/ School got in the way of me writing and then I got writer's block so that was fun. It's also weird to write on a phone and desktop (Especially because my screen is vry small) instead of a laptop. Anyways, I hope It doesn't take me another 4 months to update this book XD
