A/N: This is highly inspired by a tweet by wrongcaskett and I thank you for that! Hope you guys enjoy this and so sorry for not being more active lately, I haven't really been writing much at all but hopefully inspiration will strike soon enough like it did with this small shot. Until next time, xxx
As he reaches across the bed he wakes up at the empty space beside him. He could've sworn his partner had been by his side when he fell asleep last night.
"Kate?" he says with a raspy voice as he sleepily starts to fumble around for the woman he was happy to call his girlfriend.
When he really can't find her he sits up and starts looking around the bedroom only to find it being empty. With a quick stretch he's getting out of the bed and starting his search. It's when he comes into the kitchen area that he finds her, sitting at the table with a bunch of files in front of her.
Castle yawns before he's able to say anything. "You're up early, Kate."
She looks up at him surprised and he stops in his tracks. He narrows his eyes at her, observing as she looks between him and the window before her beautiful hazel eyes land on the files in front of her.
"You never went to sleep, did you?" he asks and she looks up at him, an untrained eye would say she was innocent but he, who knows her better than anyone, can see the guilt in her hazels. "Kate," he sighs and she shakes her head.
"I'm stuck, you know I hate to be stuck," she argues as she starts looking through some papers again.
He walks up to her and leans down to kiss her forehead. While he does he feels the way she's leaning on to him and figures she's a lot more tired than she's letting on.
"You want a coffee?"
"Mm, yes please," she hums and leans her head back and he immediately reads into the look in her eyes and pecks her lips.
He goes to make the coffee and once he comes back with two cups he joins her on the couch. "I'll give us the time of drinking the coffee then I'm taking you back to bed whether you like it or not," he warns her and she yawns. "See, you need sleep."
"No, I don't," she argues but when she meets his eyes he can see her give in. "Fine."
Castle smiles proudly and takes a sip of his coffee. "So, what do we have?"
The end
