"Beren." He looks at his father, Charles called him.

"Yes, Dad." he comes back.

"Don't leave the group, stay with us." He said with worry.

"Y-yes Dad." He said as he looks at the group, his small group.

"let's go on." Norman, their group leader said.

They continued as they would see the ruins of once-great cities.

They finally sit as Brandon, another child lits the fire, "this island has nothing in it, lets go back to Marley."

"Brandon, we will have to stay." Alyesha his mother said. "the chief has asked us to see if this place is suitable to live in or not."

"Fine." he looks at Beren, "hey let's explore the forest tomorrow."

"What no," Charles said in fear.

"Let them go, they are 12 now," Norman said.

"But."

"The boy must know how to live."

He looks down, "Fine, Beren you will go tomorrow."

"Yeah." He said as his dog barks in joy.

They continued to walk as they watched the ruined city, random shells and corpses.

"Let's find someplace to sleep", Charles said as they get a spot. "I think it once was a bus stand."

"Good, we will have a roof, and it is in the outskirts." Norman said as they start another fire.

Night comes as they start to eat dinner.

"Canned food again," Beren said in disgust.

"This is still fresh." He said opening the can.

"Hundred years have passed since this was made, it is rotten."

"I am sorry, sweetie, but this is the only thing left for us." He sighed as he scoops out some and gives it to him.

He eats as he looks at the ruins of the city.

"Why is this place called 'the islands of the devils'," Beren asked.

"Well three hundred years ago, a people called subjects of Ymir lived in this island, well don't know true or not but they could turn into huge monsters called titans," Norman said.

"Titans cool." He said in awe.

"Their god, Eren Yeager, sent 50-meter tall wall titans to crush everyone outside, they killed 80% of the world population."

"Really." He said.

"Yes, but saviours of mankind came together and defeated him, for 200 years world prepared to attack the island, and the result is this." He sighs. "Fools could have talked to each other, our lives are ruined because of this cycle of hatred."

"Now sleep Beren, tomorrow you will go into the forest ok," Charles said as he kissed his forehead.

The boy eventually sleeps as he looks at Alyesha puts Brandon to sleep.

"You are right, leader," Charles said as norman looked at him. "Our ancestors were fools, now I have to teach my child how to survive this cruel world."

"Well, there is a saying that the world is cruel and yet beautiful." Alyesha said as she looks upon the sky, "Isn't this beautiful."

"Yeah." Norman said while eating his can food. "so what is your surname Charles, mine is Bohr."

"Well." He looks down, "Ackerman."

"So you are an eldian." He said scooping another can dish.

"Yup, our great-great-great- frankly don't know- grandmother mi- Mikasa was an inhabitant. She used to visit a tree where her first love was buried. I wanted to see so here I am."

He pulls his sleeve revealing the Azumbito sign. "It is a tradition to make this, my mother made it for me, and I made one on his hand."

"How you survived?"

"They say all of her grandchildren, except one moved out when the first raid happened."

"You know that Mikasa Ackerman was a saviour of humanity," Alyesha asked.

"Who cares. No one gives a damn in a few centuries."

"Does he know?"

"No, I will tell him soon." He smiles.

He lies down as he extends his hand to pat Beren's head. "Sleep, my boy."

From far a drone looks at them as it flies away.

so I used the name Beren as I liked it. I will release the next chapter as soon as I can.
