The Grey Mage
Chapter 1
Disclaimer: I do not own harry potter and any characters or locations from the books. I only own my ocs.
My name is Nyx Silverblood. I live in a world of wonder, a place of myth and legends, in the world of magic. My life so far has been simple, went to school, got good grades, killed a dragon, bonded with a thunderbird, you know the usual. Today is my 11th birthday. It will be just as unremarkable as all the other birthdays I've spent in the orphanage since as long as I can remember, or so I thought.
"Nyx Silverblood, I presume." asked a mysterious man as I got to my room.
"Yes," I reply, "who are you?"
"I am Ragnok the Bold, and your father sent me to pick you up and take you to Gringotts," Ragnok answered.
"Who is he, and why has he not picked me up himself?" I questioned Ragnok
"He gave me this to give to you. It should explain everything."
As he gave me a letter with my name on it, a knock on the door interrupted us. The matron walked in with another person wearing a suit. Another goblin, I presume, because Ragnok was the same height as this new person.
"Filius?" Ragnok asked in shock, "what are you doing here?"
"Ragnok long time no see," 'Filius' answered, "and I see Mr. Silverblood, I'm professor Filius Flitwick, and I work in Hogwarts, a school for the gifted. I'm here to take you to get your school supplies."
"Well, that seems to work in our favor," Ragnok commented, "we can all go together and get everything out the way, now hurry up we've wasted enough time as is."
As we exit the orphanage, I ask Professor Flitwick, "What's Hogwarts, I know it's a school for the gifted, but what gift are we talking here?"
"Have you done anything that you can't explain when angry or scared?" he replied.
"Well, I once killed a dragon without getting hurt and set homework on fire by accident without anything to light it," I replied.
"Wait, YOU killed a dragon!? When? Where? How?" They questioned
"2 years ago, and it was destroying houses near the orphanage," I replied, "and what has that got to do with the school."
"You are a wizard, Mr. Silverblood and what you did was magic which would be incredibly difficult for even groups of adult wizards" Ragnok replied
"Wait, you're telling me that magic exists," I reply in shock "that there are witches and wizards out there breaking all known laws of science, and I'm one of them."
"Correct Mr. Silverblood. Any other questions, or can we move on, we're on a tight schedule," Ragnok answered impatiently.
As we walk into an abandoned alleyway, Ragnok stops and pulls a slip of paper out of his shirt and holds it out to us and explains that the piece of parchment is a portkey that will take us to Gringotts.
