She returns

Her dark black hair hung down hiding her face as tears formed in her eyes. Her heart hurt as she stared down into the well as memories of Inuyasha flashed through her mind. The times that they spent together, all of his facial expressions, whether it was angry, frustrated or happy were prominent in his mind. She forgot the feeling of his lips on hers a long time ago but she wouldn't ever forget the look in his eyes as he came through the darkness. His golden eyes had shown with concern, tenderness, relief, and love and this look was a comfort to her throughout the years.
For three years, she returned to the well time after time hoping to see the blue sky at the bottom of it. She had jumped in at first, digging in the soft dirt hoping she would find her way back but after she did it too many times and hurt her ankle plus scraping up her hands, she stopped. She missed him so much and she wanted to see him again. She had been accepted to a university for a medical degree so she was moving away from the Shrine and it was time to let him go.
"Inuyasha," she whispered, "I wanted to see you again."
Her eyes were closed as a tear slowly made it way down her cheeks and she leaned her head against the outside of the well. Her heart was breaking as she realized that she wanted nothing more but to spend the rest of her life with the love of her life. She wanted him with every bone of her body.
"Kagome." She heard as her head came up and she glanced behind her. She raised her eyes slowly and met her mother's eyes. She looked very sad but she understood that her daughter was in love with the man 500 years in the past. She hasn't been the same since the well stopped working.
Kagome saw her mother looking behind her, turning around her eyes widen as she glance down into it. For the first time in three years she saw it, the blue sky connecting her to Inuyasha's time.
"Mom"
The one word held everything, the excitement for the future, the apprehension of moving forward hopefully with him, and the regret of leaving her family.
Kagome glanced up when she felt her hands on her shoulder, tears for another reason in her eyes.
"Here," her mom said as she grabbed a backpack with modern things that would serve Kagome well in the past. It wouldn't last her forever, but at least it was something and it was a reminder of home.
"Mom..I"
"You don't have to say anything, Kagome. I know how you feel about him. Go."
"But Mom."
Her Mom hugged her hard then stood back so she could kiss Kagome gently on her head and her cheeks.
"You haven't been the same since the well closed. You love him and I just want you to be happy. Go, Kagome."
Kagome reached out and hugged her mother hard, tears in her eyes but hope and excitement in her heart.
"Go, Kagome and I know that I love you very much."
"I love you too, Mom more than you will ever know. Thank you for everything."
Grabbing the backpack, Kagome leapt into the well without a backwards glanced. If she had seen her mother crying, she probably would have stayed but she knew deep in her heart she belonged with Inuyasha.
The object of her desire sat on the ground, with twin 2 year old girls standing his shoulders grabbing his ears. Although, it really warmed his heart that these two girls loved him, his ears were hurting.
"Hey can you do something about that twins." He growled. He would hear Sango and Miroku "try" but he knew nothing would happen. He was too afraid to hurt them so he refused to pull them away.
"Girls stop pulling on his ears," Miroku said half-hardly although part of his heart swelled at the sight. He knew that the last few years had been difficult for Inuyasha. He would often see the young half demon staring off in the distance staring at nothing. He seemed the most relaxed when he was spending time with Miroku and his family but his feelings of longing was written all over his face.
"I'm sorry, Inuyasha." He heard as he glanced at Sango. He thought he smelled it, the delectable smell of the woman whom he loved but who was forced to remain on the other side of the well. He blinked and although he thought he had smelled her multiple times over the years, he always had to rush to well to check for her. Standing suddenly, he gently grabbed the small girls and dropped them on Shippo.
"Slay the fox." He said quickly as he took off full speed towards the well. Excitement filled his heart as he closed in on the well and her smell was stronger, which was something that had never happened during her absence. He paused as he ran into the clearing, the well sitting there, the place of his hopes and dreams. All he wanted was for her dark hair to appear and to see the face of the beautiful woman who came into his life, disrupted it, saved him, and healed his heart.
Kagome stood at the bottom of the well and stared up at the beautiful blue clear sky. Normally, she would have climbed out by now but her heart was pounding so hard that she had to take a few minutes to slow it down and breath. Doubts started crowding her mind as she stared up at the blue sky, the smell of the Feudal Era filling her heart and mind. She was happy to be back but she had never confessed to Inuyasha how she felt. She knew that he cared about her but she had no idea how deep his true feelings ran. For three years, she dreamed about him and every 2-3 days she would sit at the well on her family's property and speak to him knowing he couldn't hear her. Gathering her courage, she started climbing the side the well when a hand descended in front of her face, the hand was rough and clawed and she could clearly see the red firerat robe. This hand could only belong to one person and that was the half-demon she had desired to see for three years.
Inuyasha approached the well warily, his heart pounding hard in his chest. He had never told her his feelings for her but he was pretty sure of her feelings for him. One of the things he thought about often was confessing his love to her and well something happening, which Miroku bragged and explained to Inuyasha in detail after Miroku and Sango were together the first time. Inuyasha felt his cheeks redden at the memory and at the fantasies of Kagome he had often that flashed through his mind. At the edge of the well, he thought about looking down as he had done so many times but he just couldn't anymore. Sighing, he thrust his hand down the well and waited.
Kagome blinked at the hand in front of her face, her heart started to race. She was older now, she ready for him in more ways than one and damn it, she wasn't going to let fears stand in her way. Taking a breath, she reached out and placed her hand gently in his and was pulled quickly out of the well. In a flash, she was being held one handed and was staring at the face of the half-demon who would not leave her head and heart, the golden eyes that haunted her dreams. He had filled out a little bit more in the past three years, his shoulders were broader and he was taller and stronger.
Inuyasha blinked as he stared up into the brown eyes of the woman who was in his thoughts and heart. He knew she said something and he responded without thinking but after placing her on the ground, he wrapped his arms around her. She felt different; she had filled out a little bit more, and was taller and curvier then last he seen her but her scent was the same.
"Kagome!" He heard and gently disentangled from her so she could go greet Miroku, Sango, Shipp and the girls. He stared after; blinking but the vision remained the same. She was back. She really was here.
Kagome hugged Miroku, Sango and Shippo in excitement as she realized that it was true. She really was back. She gushed over the small children and smiled as Sango told her of Miroku's proposal after everything was finished even though he had proposed earlier. Sango smiled and told the younger woman about their wedding as they approached the village. Kagome blinked as she looked around the village. It had been nearly destroyed but she shook herself again that she realized it had been three years. The village was rebuilt and flourishing.
As they walked towards Kaede's, a walk that Kagome had made multiple times. Something out of the corner of her eye and she paused as she saw some of the men run up to Inuyasha.
"Inuyasha! Thank you for killing that demon!" A few them of said as they approached the half-demon. Their voiced startled him as he was deep in his own thoughts. After Sango and Miroku started talking to Kagome, he had just remained quiet and walked slightly behind them so he wouldn't overwhelm the young woman. The village had truly accepted him after the battle with Naraku and they accepted him. The members of the village were not afraid of him and approached him often.
"Keh" he said as he crossed his arms due to the uncomfortable feelings rising inside of him. A little boy ran up to him and pulled on his arm until Inuyasha picked him up.
"I want to be like you when I grow up!" Inuyasha felt a mix of feelings rise in him, one being impatience because all he wanted right now was time with Kagome.
"Too bad, kid' he responded as he placed the little boy down and gently tasseled his hair.
"Inuyasha has become a hero to the village and they love and accept him. He even lives close by in a house that they help build for him." Miroku said with a slight glance at Kagome.
She felt her cheeks flush slightly at the implications of the comment and she smiled as she saw Sango slap him in the back of the head. Some things never change.
Later that night, she found herself sitting around dinner with her friends. Inuyasha sat against the wall across the fire from her. His arms were crossed and his eyes stared into the fire. He had been quiet all day and Kagome wondered what was going on with him. Why hadn't he talked? Wasn't he happy she was back?
"The little ones are sleepy, I think it's time for us to head home." Miroku said quietly as he reached down to remove Ami, who was sleeping on her lap. Kagome gave him a slight smile but she could see the mischievous look in his eyes. Her cheeks burned and she moved her eyes back to the handsome half-demon across the fire who was handing the other little one back to her mother.
"Behave, Miroku." Sango said as she stood after picking up Yuki from Inuyasha. His cheeks turned slightly red as his eyes moved to the young Priestess. "Inuyasha, help me with the twins." Sango said as she moved to go to her home. Inuayasha blinked at her but moved over to Miroku and took Ami. After a second glance at Miroku and Kagome, he left the hut and followed Sango.
Kagome tilted her head and glanced back at Miroku who was trying very hard to hide his smile.
"What do you suspect she wanted to say to him?" Kagome asked.
"Oh I don't know. She is probably telling him many things and giving him advice." Miroku said.
Kagome raised an eyebrow and looked up at him. "What!" She coughed out.
"Sango and Inuyasha have become very close." Miroku said once again with a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he suspected that instead Sango was telling him to go for it and to admit his feeling to Kagome.
Sango and Inuyasha moved towards her hut. He glanced at her and back at Kaede's hut, obviously very anxious to get back to Kagome.
"Inuyasha, you have been quiet all night. You need to tell Kagome, your feelings."
A few years ago he would have snapped at her but Miroku hadn't been lying when he said that Sango and Inuyasha had become closer. Although he rolled his eyes at her and he blushed, he remained quiet. Nothing else was said as they entered the hut and she laid her child down on the pallet. She stood and faced him with her arms crossed and she raised an eyebrow. After a second she held out her hands so Inuyasha could hand Sango her sleeping child.
Inuyasha sighed and met Sango's eyes after she stood back up after laying the little girl next to her sister on the mat. "What if she doesn't…" he couldn't finish the thought of what if she doesn't feel the same as him.
Sango rolled her eyes. "Inuyasha, why do you think she has returned to the Feudal Era?"
Inuyasha's golden eyes widen and a blush started forming on his cheeks. He crossed his arms and looked to the side.
"Keh. It could have been for a number of reasons."
"You. She returned for you."
Inuyashe felt the blush grow.
"I would say that is a safe assessment, my dear Sango." Miroku said as he moved into the hut.
"Where's Kagome?" Inuyasha immediately asked.
"She's still at Kaede's." Miroku said with a pointed look.
Inuyasha sighed as he felt the doubts just grow in his heart. He wondered what he should do. Should he return to Kaede's? He hadn't talked much to Kagome because he thought that she would be overwhelmed and he had no idea what to say to her. He was afraid if he opened his mouth, he would start talking about how he loved her and he wanted her to stay here with him but he had no idea how she would take that.
Kagome sat on the ground around the fire. Kaede had already retired for the night. Shippo sat by her, with his head in her lap. She was disappointed and hurt by Inuyasha's behavior. He had not returned from Sango's yet and truth be told, she had no idea what to say to him. The thing is, for most of their time together, there were issues with Kikyo and Naraku but both of these have been resolved. Did they really have a chance now?
Inuyasha left Sango's not long after Miroku arrived and he walked back to Kaede's with his heart pounding. Gently moving the curtain aside, he walked in and met Kagome's curious and worried eyes.
"Is Sango okay?" She asked.
"Yeah." He responded, sitting down across the fire from her. He looked over her for a second before looking back at the fire. Frustrating grew inside of him. So many times he thought what he wanted to say to her, what he would do to her but he felt so unsure. Sango's voice rang in his head, "you, she returned because of you." Inuyasha felt his heart rate increase as he looked over the fire and met and held Kagome's eyes with his own feelings for her clear on his face and in his eyes.
Kagome felt her heart rate increase as she met the golden eyes of her dreams. She could see tenderness and something else lurking in them. Moving Shippo gently, she stood. If she had been asked why, she would not have an answer but something told her to stand. As she stood, Inuyasha stood as well facing her. His cheeks were red but he kept his eyes on hers. She moved quickly and quietly around the fire until she was in front of him.
Inuyasha stepped forward to her and when she paused in front of him, he raised a hand and put it gently on her cheek. She closed her eyes and pushed her face into his hand.
"Kagome…will you walk with me for a bit?" he asked quietly
"I will follow you anywhere." She responded just as quietly with her nervousness and uncertainty present in her voice with a faint blush on her cheeks after she realized what she admitted. Inuyasha blinked and he gave her a gentle smile.
They walked side by side for a while in silence. Kagome felt his hand brush up against hers then he gently intertwined his fingers with hers, mindful of his claws. She glanced at his face but it gave nothing away; however, it looked softer than what she's seen before, calmer and almost peaceful. There was so much she wanted to say to him but fear held her back. His hand became her anchor, proving to her that she had returned and he was there with her.
He stopped and she glanced up at the Tree of Ages. The tree where so long ago, she released him from the tree stuck there for fifty years by Kikyo. She had chased him thinking he had betrayed her but instead it was Naraku taking Inuyasha's form. Naraku also took Kikyo's form to trick Inuyasha into attacking the village trying to steal the Shikon Jewel. Now both Kikyo and Naraku are dead and the Shikon Jewel has been destroyed and removed from this world. She remembered climbing up and touching his ears as a soft smile graced her face.
He inhaled as he glanced at her and saw the soft smile on her face. She was absolutely beautiful. He wanted to touch her and kiss her and keeping his hands to himself was becoming more and more difficult. He had fantasized what he would do if/when she came back but he didn't know how to initiate it. Sango's voice came through his head that she came back for him and he felt determination flow through him. He was not going to let her again without letting her know his feelings for him.
"Kagome" he said quietly. She glanced up into his face and he got lost in her big brown eyes.
"Inuyasha." She whispered as she stared into his golden eyes. She tried hard to smile at him but her heart started beating quickly as she stared up into his eyes. She wanted to let him know her true feelings but she felt nervous, excited and scared.
He reached up gently to touch her face and he blinked when she moved to grip his hand. She moved his hand to her face and he forgot how soft her skin was. He stepped closer to her and heard her gasp but a swift glance at her face showed that her eyes were widen, her pupils dilated. She did not seem scared but excited. Stepping closer, he put his hand on her chin and slowly raised her face. Bending his face towards hers, he hesitated not wanting to push her.
He looks like he wants to kiss me. Kagome thought and as he paused she wondered why but then it hit her he was asking for permission. Kagome smiled slightly, if he only knew the dreams that she had of him since she wanted and yearned for him in ways even she wasn't quite sure of yet. She raised her face towards him and he lips came down and gently touched hers. Fire raced through her body, her limbs shaking with desire, as there was nothing holding her back from the man she loved. She wanted him in every way a woman could want a man, this man whose half demon that protected her, frustrated her in so many ways but who was honorable, sweet, shy and oh so handsome. She moaned as she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him with everything she felt. She wanted him to know without words that she loved him and wanted him.
Inuyasha felt the red rise in his cheeks as she threw her arms around him and his hands immediately went to her hips bringing her closer to him. He could feel her press against him. He relaxed finally feeling her truly with him. She was really here and not a figure of his imagination. Fire raced through his veins and he could feel his heart beating faster, desire increasing and everything seemed to be focused south. He didn't want to force her into something and she needed to understand the consequences of being with him. He didn't want what happened to his mother to happen to Kagome. He enjoyed the kiss for a minute before he pushed her back, which was difficult as her hands had risen and she was gripping his thick hair.
Kagome blinked as she felt him push her back and she had encased her hands in soft thick hair. Hair she had always been secretly been jealous of, as it always smelled so good, was super soft, and it never seemed to tangle. She had brushed his hair multiple times and it was always easy to run the brush through it. Her favorite part of riding on his back was not only feeling his solid muscles against her but having his soft hair surround her and being encased by his woodsy, masculine scent that belonged only to Inuyasha. She allowed him to push her back and noticed with some relief that his breathing was slightly rapid and when she met his eyes she gasped. Red encased the golden color and the purple streaks stood out slightly on his cheeks but he seemed fully in control.
Inuyasha ran a hand gently through Kagome's soft raven hair. Her brown eyes were wide and they had darkened slightly, her lips swollen from this kissing.
"I-Inuyasha." She whispered.
"Kagome." He whispered back as he pushed her backwards a little more but he didn't remove his hands from her waist. He needed space from her intoxicating scent and her eyes clearly displayed her desire and passion for him. He breathed in a breath as he tried to get his mind right. He missed her so much and he couldn't believe that she was back.
"Kagome, I missed you. I want to be with you in any way that I can but I am a half-demon." He paused as he tried to think of what he wanted to say. His eyes were on the ground as speaking his feelings was difficult for him and although he was pretty sure he heard her confess several times that she loved him, he still couldn't meet her eyes.
Kagome felt her heart melt as she heard what he was saying and not saying. This was the moment that she waited so long for and she dreamed about. When he paused, her eyes rose and she looked at his face and her body tense. She knew he deserved so much more than he believed he did.
"And?" She asked when he remained quiet for a few seconds too long.
His eyes rose and met the brown fierce eyes. "And I don't deserve you."
She went to take a step forward but his hands kept her still. She raised a hand and placed it gently on his cheek. His eyes widen but he kept her still.
"Inuyasha, I don't care if you deserve me or not. I only want you! I love you." She said quietly but firmly. Her cheeks blazed but there was no hesitation or doubt in her eyes, voice or stance. His body shook with relief as he pulled her towards him, one hand moving to her back and another in her hair. He pulled his head back gently as his mouth came down passionately on hers. She stiffened for a second in shock but then melted against him. When she gasped, he went ahead and French kissed her, his arms tightening around her.
Kagome started shivering as the fire increased in her. She moaned again as her arms came once again his neck intertwining in his hair. She wasn't sure when he picked her up and carried her but she felt herself being carried and she wasn't aware of anything except for the half-demon, his perfect chiseled body and his lips. Feelings of passion, desire and love welled up inside of her and she couldn't stop. Something solid was against her back and her eyes flew opened. A bed. Inuyasha had carried her into his house and laid her on the bed.
Inuyasha didn't have any conscious thoughts except he didn't want to remain by the tree. Not wanting to end kissing her, he just picked her and carried her to where he wanted to go. When he felt her stiffen, he sat back and realized that her eyes were wide staring at him in shock. Crimson stained his cheeks and he jumped up, which didn't work well as her hands were around his neck.
"K-Kagome. I-I didn't…I'm sorry."
Kagome glanced at him for a second before she started laughing. She didn't know why but she found the situation funny.
"It's fine it's fine. I understand. The fire was burning so strongly that you had to sit down and allow it to burn." She said as she flipped her hand at him shyly. She was still laying on her back with him standing over her. She felt kind of silly but when she truly looked at him, she stayed as she was. His face was red but the purple stripes stood more out on his face with the red more prominent then it had been, his breath sawing in and out. His fists were clenched by his side as he stood stock still staring at her. Her body was drenched in desire and staring up at him it got worse. She could see how strong he was and his desire was all over his face.
"Mine…" He said either in his head or out loud he wasn't sure. Her eyes widen in response and he felt himself grow harder as he heard her respond with "Yours."
He took another step back as he tried to regain his breath and slow his heart beat. He would never force her into anything and her laughter filled his heart with peace. She was not afraid of him but instead she understood him. How many dreams did he have where she ended up on his bed, granted in fewer clothes than she was wearing now?
"Inuyasha." She said, her voice firm. He lifted his eyes and met hers, wondering how the night was going to end and if his fantasy was about to be fulfilled.
