9. Bravery.

Hey guys Its been a minute I do not own twilight. I hope you have a good night rest 3

The face that greeted me when I opened the door was of a man. He had bright ginger hair that fell past his shoulders. It was kept together in a loosely held string to give the look of a ponytail. Pale skin, a chiseled face and a very big build. His body reminded me of emmet. He wore a white long sleeve shirt partially unbuttoned and black khakis. His eyes, unlike the rest, were purple with golden flakes. At first I didn't say anything, I just stood there mesmerized by his beauty. His features were so different then the Cullens. Much more hypnotic one could say. I found myself unable to form a single word. That was until he spoke.

"And who might you be?" he said with a stern but gentle tone.

I paused. I hadn't really expected myself to get this far. In my head I had pictured the conversation to begin and end with my neck being cut in half by razor sharp fangs.

"I'm I-Isabella. Mainly people call me Bella for short."

He stood very still in the doorway. There was more confusion in his purple hue than anything else.

"This still does not answer why you may be at my door."

This answer made me shift a bit uncomfortably. I didn't know how to explain to him that I had just come to his room on a whim. In hopes for food. I couldn't back down now though, I had come this far so standing very tall (which wasn't much) I cleared my throat and spoke.

"I didn't mean to bother you, I just smelled something so good that I had to follow it." I answered honestly.

For a moment he looked at me. His hues of purple examining my own features. His wandering eyes were interrupted however by the growl from my stomach. Clearing his throat he looked over at me pushing the door to his room open.

"No use to stand here like a starving pup, Come inside." He said.

When I stepped inside his room the sweet aroma filled my entire body. The smell immediately made me think of home and Charlie. I pushed that painful image out my head and looked at his furniture. Unlike most vampire rooms I had cleaned his had a big soft leather couch with a velt red blanket folded neatly across the arm rest. There even was a small table with just two chairs and a small flower pot to complete the look. His curtains however were what surprised me. They were wide open with the red thin curtain tied in a knot. Letting all of the sunlight in.

"Sit. Make yourself comfortable. I will fix you a bowl and We will eat." He said confidently.

I walked over to the couch and sat down admiring the light green coffee table. After about 5 minutes it finally registered to me what he just said.

'We'

I paused in my tracks. Vampires did not need to eat. Unless he was not a vampire. I tried to rack my brain for any possible explanation to this but after my stomach made another agitated rumble I decided I'd think about that later. Having finished making the bowls of food, he walked over and sat them down on the coffee table. I had just reached down to pick up the plate when his voice interrupted me. "Nope little pup, We sit on the floor not the furniture." Rolling my eyes I slid my body down to the coffee table and waited for him to join me. Once he sat down comfortably he nodded to me to begin eating. I picked up the spoon he had given me and dunked it into the bowl of meat and potatoes. Bringing the fork up to my lips I shoved the combination in my mouth.

"Mmmm…"

It had been too long since I ate a good home cooked meal. Something about the meal made my entire body relax. This was even better than the dinner that me and charlie had gone on my first day back to forks.

"Do you remember me?" Wayne said, holding back a smile. "I played santa ..one year."

The woman in front of me smiled with a slight chuckle. "Buttcrack santa." She stated.

Charlie looked up at him with an unamused expression pulling his features. "Yeah Wayne she hasn't had a christmas here since she was 4."

I broke myself free of that memory and continued eating the delicious meal in front of me. To keep my mind from that I studied the male in front of me. He ate the food as if he too had been hungry. Maybe a little bit more. He ate the meal so quickly that once he finished, I still had a handful left. Setting his bowl down and grabbing a napkin he caught my eye and spoke.

"What is it that makes you wonder Isabella?"

I practically choked on the spoonful I had shoved in my mouth. Chewing the savory bite I set the spoon in the bowl and collected myself. I figured here honesty might be the best policy. "Well I was just wondering why ya know… Vampire would need to eat. Real food."

Suddenly a look passed over his features that could only be described as pain and sadness. I suddeenly felt really dumb for asking such a question. Finally his facial expression returned to its normal position.

"Just because I am a monster does not mean I must behave like one. Besides, Not all vampires match the types you mortals think of."

I raised a brow and was about to ask another question when he stopped me. "My turn little pup, Why were you wandering on this floor without a Guide? Were you not assigned one?"

I had just finished the rest of the food given to me when I sat the spoon back in the bowl. "Yes I was. My guide however is always busy with other things and tasks. If I am going to be here I can not keep depending on her for everything." I stated honestly.

Suddenly I caught a flash of Raes face. When Caius had her in a grip so tight that she might have died. I said nothing else but stood up grabbing the bowls and headed toward his small sink. He watched me the entire time. Right when I had grabbed the sponge and turned the faucet on he held his hand out. "Leave them. You can repay me later lil Pup."

I raised my brow to him and was about to protest when he suddenly shooed me out. "Exit through the hallway to the left. It should lead you back to where you came. Until we see each other again Miss Isabella."
