: Sports Festival Final

"Congrats, you have officially become a ki user."

Tokoyami and I were talking in the medical bay about his previous battle with Yaoyorozu. We were currently eating some apples that were sold at one of the stands outside. After his battle, the teen had wanted to discuss in-depth his new power.

Outside, a heated battle between Uraraka and Bakugou was taking place. The monitor displayed the fight to the two of us as our conversation continued. It wasn't going too well for the zero-gravity quirk user, who was getting destroyed by explosions.

Earlier, Tetsutetsu and Kirishima slugged it out for fifteen minutes before they both passed out. After this match, a tie-breaker would be held and rumor was it would be an arm-wrestling match.

"Maybe so but from what I have seen from you and Hop it may only be the tip of the iceberg," Tokoyami stated as he took a bite from his apple. He was right, there were other things ki users could do that was considered the basics. Ki blasts, flying, and...other things that I can't think of that may be a little bit more complicated.

"Think of it this way. If you focus on your training you could learn to fly better and faster than me soon."

"That reminds me." Tokoyami turned to me. "Why can't you go very fast when flying? You have told me there are people weaker than you who could go subsonic yet you run faster than you fly."

"Well, once Dratten taught me how to hover he diverted my training to other means and said it is best if I learned how to go faster my own way. My current way of flying is having the energy lift me and move me in one direction. Sort of like picking up an object and placing it somewhere else. I have yet to learn how to propel myself with my ki."

The building shook slightly. Dust fell from the ceiling. We looked at the small monitor in the corner to see Bakugou had blasted away Uraraka's plan with a single attack. The shockwave had knocked the girl off her feet. Her attempt to continue fighting came to a halt when she fell face forward. Midnight ran to her and gave the teen a check before declaring Bakugou the winner.

They prepared the tiebreaker between Kirishima and TetsuTetsu as the two students made their way to the center of the arena.

Tokoyami signed. "I was hoping for Uraraka to pull through on that fight. Guess Bakugou is moving into the next round."

I looked at her as the robots took her out on a stretcher. Perhaps he could check up on her later to make sure she wasn't putting too much pressure on her to do well. This he should do for all those who lost today.

Especially Yaoyorozu. Even though it was a good thing that she experienced her first real loss it could also be used as a double-edged sword. Her confidence in her abilities could take a blow. As the oldest member of his class, he makes it his responsibility to help his classmates when they are struggling mentally.

The arm-wrestling match concluded when Tetsutetsu's arm cracked. Kirishima capitalized by slamming his opponent's arm against the concrete. The victor was declared and the two had a very manly handshake.

I spotted Todoroki making his way to the arena. I had noticed that the boy had many issues going on in his life and it would appear that his opponent, Midoriya, would agree.

Todoroki and I didn't get along so if anyone would be able to help him it would be Midoriya.

The battle between the two students then began.

(10 minutes later)

"Not again!"

Luna was holding onto her seat for dear life as the battle waged in the arena. The woman behind her had an arm around Luna as the other also gripped her seat. Everyone else in the crowd was trying their best not to be blown away from the shockwave of the collision of attacks.

These first-year students are way stronger than in the previous years. Then again, she expected nothing less of the son of the number two hero and the kid who had incredible power with such a major drawback.

The only problem was Cementoss was more concerned about not having the two students kill each other than shielding the crowd from the wind. This meant the less powerful heroes up close were flying back a couple of rows into others. She and Luna were high enough so that it didn't hit them full force but it was still enough to pick up the girl in her seat.

When the wind died down, she let go of the green-haired girl and looked at what was left of the arena. The dual-quirked user was standing in a dazed state as the one called Midoriya was impeded in the wall on the other end. Many heroes were still stunned by what happened so no applause was given. Yet it was clear a large amount of respect was given to the two fighters. More so to the victor for he was unscathed.

"Thank you for saving me. Geez, I hope that was the last shockwave we see. Maybe they should think about installing seatbelts in the stands."

Luna's comment made the woman chuckle. "Well, the son of Endeavor is advancing into the next round so we can't count out another wave coming towards us. But with any luck, he would have learned from his previous battles and have a little more concern for the audience."

Luna sighed. "Maybe. Who is fighting next?"

They both turned to the tournament bracket. The next match would be between Tenya Iida and Ibara Shiozaki. Luna then saw that Tokoyami would be battling Mina Ashido, the acid girl.

Eijiro Kirishima would then battle Katsuki Bakugou. To finish the round which would lead into the semifinal which would be…

Oh…

The brackets lined up so that whoever won Tokoyami's battle would be facing Todoroki in the conclusion of the semi-finals.

It almost made her wish Tokoyami would lose against Ashido.

Almost.

Tokoyami was walking down the halls to head back to the tunnel. Iida should be nearing the end of his battle soon. When that happens he will face Ashido.

Leo had told him to never underestimate his opponent. While many others saw his victory as certain, he would be on guard to make sure that surprises were kept to a minimum.

Dark Shadow was resting in his body. The quirk had grown more attached to Tokoyami when he unleashed his ki. Since their life force was connected it meant that they could draw power from one another now. The downside was that this unusual movement of energy drained their stamina faster. Hence, why he didn't use Dark Shadow against Yaoyorozu at the end of their fight.

He planned to use his quirk in this next fight to avoid Ashido's acid. That way he could save his strength for the next fight if he made it there.

Todoroki has proven to be one of the strongest in the class. Maybe even stronger than what he had seen Leo do but that was just theoretical. If the dual-quirked user managed to call upon fire then it would make things significantly harder.

Tokoyami had one more turn to make when he was met by the last person he expected to be down here.

Endeavor

The giant of a man was leaning against the wall of the tunnel. When he had turned the corner the hero locked eyes with him and stood up straight and walked to meet him. They came to a stop in front of one another.

A strange feeling rolled off of the number two hero. Tokoyami couldn't confirm it but it must have been ki senses. Or rather power sensing. For this sense gave him a feeling of fear of how strong it was. This man-made number two for a reason. And with even more cases solved than All Might, it was under solid evidence that he was powerful.

"You are the boy who has continued to push my son Shoto are you not?" Endeavor pointed at Tokoyami. "I do not doubt in my mind that you will win this next fight. And when you do you will fight my bloodline in the Semifinals."

Nobody could see it but sweat was rolling down the teen's face and it wasn't from the heat. Had Endeavor sought him out to tell him to go easy on Todoroki or the opposite. Regardless, he could now feel the glare he was receiving that burnt holes into his soul.

"When you do. I expect you to pull all the stops because it would be your last chance to show the world how strong you are. It would prove to the world that my son is the future number one hero. And for your benefit, it would show the world how close you came to beating him. Although in the end, you would still be beneath him."

'Beneath him?' Did Endeavor view his son as some sort of tool? And now that he was using his fire it meant that Todoroki was willing. He would laugh if he wasn't so afraid. Todoroki was one of the most stubborn people he knew with the exception of Hop. It would take more than one fight to halt his grudge against his father for whatever reason he held it.

Out of respect though, he said nothing and gave a slight nod. His confidence wasn't a problem but with Endeavor, it was best just to go with it.

The number two hero nodded and walked past him. Then stopped. "There is someone watching your progress. If you continue to do well he might send you a rare offer to intern with him. I tell you this not to help you but so that said hero wouldn't annoy me with his request to be a messenger."

And with that, the hero left.

Tokoyami then let out a breath and stepped into the arena. Iida walked past him and wished him luck with the next fight.

Ashido was waiting for him at the other end of the arena. She was visibly sweating from stress but it was hidden behind a big smile. "Are you ready to get knocked out?"

In a normal Fumikage Tokoyami response, he grunted and hunched over slightly.

After they were each announced, Midnight whipped her hand down and began the match.

"Keep moving. You may have warmed up a little bit but your muscles will begin to fail if you don't keep warm."

I was giving energy to Todoroki while the boy was running in place. The dual-quirked user had waited too long to use his fire to remove the ice on his body. The damage to his body wouldn't be permanent but he would have to keep active till the time he entered his next match.

Midoriya had already left and headed back to the stands. His injuries were serious enough so that a senzu bean was used to heal him. However, the nurse had given him a few solid wacks and made me promise not to give the boy senzu beans for any training. From here on out, no more breaking bones through the usage of his quirk.

Todoroki and I remained quiet as his healing continued. The younger boy appeared to be deep in thought. His battle with Midoriya must have gotten to him.

Recovery Girl had left to get more supplies. With only one senzu bean left it meant that they could only afford one more major incident before the heavier equipment would have to be used. And with Bakugou fighting next, it was only a matter of time.

Todoroki then spoke. "How did you ever get over what happened with your past?"

The comment made me flinch and clutch my chest where the scar flared with pain. I was able to hide most of the pain but Todoroki saw some discomfort.

"My apologies if it brings up bad memories."

Once I had avoided another panic attack, my response was firm and truthful. "I never did."

He slowed down from his jog and looked down. "Oh"

"But don't let that discourage you."

Todoroki looked at me as I continued. "Bad things happen to everyone. We all find it easier to blame something. The reason why my issues are so difficult to overcome is that I blamed myself for what happened. It was easier for me to do that than blame someone else."

"But the key to moving on is to prove to yourself that you can continue. Yourself, no one else."

With those words, Todoroki stopped running and looked up. Many thoughts went through his head. He had not used his ice to prove to his father that he didn't need him yet had that been the right call.

"It's yours! Your power, not his!"

Midoriya's words rang in his head. Had he been trying so hard to prove his father wrong that he let it blind him to what he wanted. Memories of him and his mother watching heroes fight as a kid returned to him. Why he had still wanted to be a hero even though that was what his father wanted.

The crowd roared on the monitor nearby. Tokoyami had easily defeated Ashido with his Dark Shadow. And from the looks of it, he had plenty of gas left.

Todoroki began to chuckle to himself. He had not planned on using his fire again until the end of the tournament and until he finally understood what he wanted.

But things change.

Fire trickled up Todoroki's arm. I had to step back to avoid getting hit by some lingering flames. The muscles that were still stiff from the cold warmed immediately.

"Then I guess it is best to prove myself in this next fight by going all out from the start." The dual-quirked user spoke. I followed his gaze towards the monitor where Tokoyami was exiting the stage.

Things were about to get interesting.

"That went well. Or horribly, depending on who you were rooting for."

Tokoyami had easily won against Ashido by avoiding her acid and having Dark Shadow swipe her out of the ring. It remained one of the more underwhelming matches but everyone's mood was still high when Ashido jumped to her feet and screamed how happy she was to be left uninjured.

"It looks like your friend will be battling the son of Endeavor." The woman stated. This brought a look of confusion to Luna's face.

"Who?"

"The number two hero."

Luna still looked confused.

"The one large bulky guy who yelled 'Shoto' during the match between Todoroki and Midoriya."

"Oooohh, that guy. You heroes have rankings?"

"Yes, we do. They are placed properly on the board due to their power, cases solved, public view, and ext." The woman explained. "For example. Endeavor is number two because he has the most cases solved out of any hero in his career."

"Wait so the person in front of them would have to have a higher public view and be stronger than him to be number one."

The woman nodded. "Exactly. All Might is considered the most powerful hero in the world and his attitude gives him a great public view. And it also helps that his presence diminishes crime across Japan."

This sounds like a more calm version of Chris. One that is more intimidating than the nightmare fuel that Leo's previous mentor was known for.

The women continued. "Endeavor is obsessed with the number one spot to the point that he wants to raise his son to best All Might in a way he never could. There are some rumors about what he did but they are just that. Rumors."

Luna looked at the large hero standing at the other end of the stadium. Looking down at the arena. Then I looked back at the women. "So what rank are you?"

She looked slightly surprised by this question and looked around to see if anyone was within ear distance. Then she leaned down and told Luna. "I'm high enough so that I'd prefer to not draw attention. The reason I'm in these dark clothes is to disguise myself."

"Okay, then you don't have to answer that. Let's get back to watching the...is that the firework?"

They both looked down at the arena where Bakugou was walking out onto the field. His opponent, Kirishima, had a large smile and was motioning for the blonde to come at him.

"The seat is looking like a real friend right now." Luna braced herself for more explosions. The woman behind her placed a hand on the girl's shoulder and braced for the two of them.

"Ow"

Recovery Girl and I were watching the beatdown of Eijiro Kirishima. A barrage of explosions overtook the camera as the blonde began to wear down the red-head. It looked like the front row had gotten sunglasses so they could watch the fight and with so many light shows, who could blame them.

Finally, with a final attack. Kirishima fell to the ground and passed out. Bakugou had a scratch on his cheek from where a punch had nipped him but other than that he looked unhurt.

"It was a bad matchup. The good news is that Kirishima's quirk made it so it was just some bruising as the aftermath of this fight. Let's hope the next one goes this well."

The next fight would consist of Tokoyami vs Todoroki. The main problem about this fight was that the dual-quirk user would be using the fire quirk that has been so heavily suppressed.

With little training involved in that quirk, the only option in using the fire would be at maximum strength. The light it produces would weaken Dark Shadow and to make matters worse, since it was bright and sunny outside, even if Tokoyami avoids the fire the sun would prevent him from regaining any power for his quirk.

However, once again the lack of fire training meant that Todoroki could only use one at a time. Fire alone wouldn't take down Tokoyami because the ki fueling Dark Shadow would not be diminished by light. The ice could slow the bird-headed teen's movements but it won't be able to defeat a full ki power Dark Shadow. Tokoyami's best chance was to attack Todoroki with superior speed. An aura around him would do the trick.

Things got tricky at close combat.

On one hand, Todoroki could instantly win if he got a hold of any part of Tokoyami's body using the ice quirk. And to top it off, he was no pushover in close-ranged combat. And on the other hand, Tokoyami did have superior skills due to training with me. Dark Shadow would also be able to perform direct strikes at such a close distance which would finish Todoroki in a couple of blows.

Comparing the two made me realize that this was anyone's game. The best way it could end was if one of the fighters accidentally stepped out of the arena.

My watch buzz with a notification. I look down to see that Luna had asked who, in my opinion, would win. My reply was that it was a coin flip.

"My brother says that it is a coin flip on who could win this match. I have to agree with him here."

The woman looked down at the arena. Cementoss was using his concrete to set up giant pieces of bulletproof glass that wouldn't break from a point-blank explosion. It extended about ten meters in the air and prevented the front row from being pummeled by shockwaves. If any more occurred.

"I would have to agree. In my opinion, this is the climax of the Sports Festival." She turned to Luna. "It is unlikely a knockout would occur considering how smart these two are. And not to diminish Bakugou's strength, but these two students are in the best shape they have been in the whole event."

"So this one would be the one that decides who would win the whole thing?"

"Not exactly. Whoever battles the winner here will be fighting a much weaker opponent than how they are now. This event will, however, determine who is most likely to get selected to intern for a week."

"Oh, so it is like putting your accomplishments on a resume. Whoever wins this fight would be seen as a much better candidate." Luna returned her eyes to the arena. Both the students were exiting tunnels on opposite ends. The crowd seemed to love what was about to go because they went nuts."

"You can do it, Tokoyami."

Tokoyami looked around the arena. It looked like they were sparing no expense of the wreckless battles that were the last two battles of Todoroki's. Glass walls, a bunker for Midnight, a different bunker for Cementoss, spectators with sunglasses, which may or may not be bulletproof.

This is kinda making him feel uneasy.

On the other end of the arena, Todoroki stood. His face showed complete concentration as he stared him down. Any hope that this would go well went right out the window at that point.

Midnight then went to Todoroki and started talking to him. The boy broke his stare and listened to the Rated-R hero. They were too far away for Tokoyami to make out what he was saying.

He turned to the crowd and saw Luna waving at him. His response was a slight wave of his own and with that looked back over at Todoroki. When he did he spotted a flickering glow behind the student.

Tokoyami's eyes caught Endeavor watching from the top of the stands. The opposite side of the stadium from where Luna sat. The number two hero's words rang in his head from their previous meeting.

"Someone is watching you…"

Who? Who's interest could be important enough so that the number two hero would deliver the message in person? It was room for thought but he shoved it down when Midnight finished her conversation with Todoroki and walked over to the Tokoyami.

She stopped next to him. "We have prepared safety measures so that the audience won't be getting hurt on the sideline. However, that also means that Todoroki will be hitting you with similar attacks that put two others into the medical ward."

"I understand you are strong but no one would blame you if going through with this is not what you want. Don't take it the wrong way. The teachers just don't want to have another Midoriya on their hands."

Tokoyami took a shaky breath and tried to calm his nerves. He hadn't realized how nervous he was. The other two battles looked like a cakewalk compared to this. But that wasn't going to stop him.

"The concern is appreciated, but I could never live it down if the end of the road is not reached. I'll fight Todoroki."

Midnight nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Good luck. If you feel like you are being pushed too far don't be too afraid of surrendering. And don't worry about uneven treatment. I've already asked Todoroki if he is willing to get in a fight with you. He seemed less nervous but that boy may have had too much coffee."

Tokoyami gave a slight chuckle as the referee made her way to her concrete bunker. Present Mic's voice came over the intercom.

"These two have displayed incredible strength and now face off one on one with no having to hold back! I hope you have your sunglasses because things are about to get hot!"

Midnight gestured towards Todoroki. When she did, Mic continued.

"In one corner, we have the half-ice, half-fire, quirk user who is the main reason we have given our spectators and staff members protection from! With two monstrous victories in this third event, he is the fan-favorite student, Shoto Todoroki!"

The crowd roared, the previous noise volume had nothing compared to what was occurring now. Those with sensitive ears had bought ear protection from the stands but any person who didn't, even those with normal hearing, covered their ears from the volume.

"And in the other corner, he is the bird from the darkest pits, the shadow that refuses to be kept behind the user, the one who stopped a ground zero explosion in the second round, ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Fumikage Tokoyami."

Tokoyami didn't know what to expect, but the level of excitement that matched Todoroki's was not what even occurred to him. He could hear some whoops from some places in the crowd as well as some whistling.

"And now, let us start the count down."

They both leaned forward. The first seconds would be crucial to the fight. Either Tokoyami dodged the first wave or he didn't and lost. He prayed to anyone who could hear him that he wouldn't be turned into a popsicle.

"Gooooo!"

Once the match began, an ice column burst towards Tokoyami. He yelped and shot to his left as the ice chipped the back of his leg. Before he could make another move, Todoroki sent flames towards the edgy teen.

Tokoyami gritted his teeth as his ki surrounded his body and he jumped in the air to avoid the intense flames. The extra boost in strength aided in helping him dodge.

Dark Shadow shot out of his chest and dashed towards Todoroki but yelped when the flames were redirected towards the shadow. Tokoyami shielded his head with his hands and put as much strength he had in his aura as the fire hit him dead on. Even with the energy surrounding him, it created slight burns on his body.

Once he landed, he willed Dark Shadow back into his body. "You tricked me into going into the air."

Todoroki smirked. "Your mistake was sending Dark Shadow after me when you had no control in your body. Gave me a good opening."

Ice shot out again and this time, instead of dodging, Tokoyami used the move he created when fighting against Leo and had Dark Shadow surround his hand with his body. This time, the dark ki strengthened the two of them to strike the incoming glacier and shatter it.

Not letting the opportunity go, the bird-headed teen shot through the ice and used his other hand to punch Todoroki in the gut. The dual-quirked user gasped in pain but managed to grab Tokoyami's hand before he could back away.

Ice started to surround his arm. Dark Shadow shifted towards his left side to shatter it before it could get out of control. When this happened, Todoroki switched from ice to fire, and Dark Shadow and Tokoyami yelped and kicked their opponent away. His attempt to do some damage backfiring. Literally.

'If we fight at close range then we are an easy target. If we fight at long range then we won't be able to touch him.' Tokoyami thought. His hand grabbed a large chunk of shattered ice and threw it at Todoroki. The boy then melted the ice almost immediately but was caught off guard by Dark Shadow flying out of the blindspot that the flames had made for him and swatted Todoroki to the edge of the arena.

To prevent himself from going out of bounds, the dual-quirked user put up a small block of ice to block him from leaving the area. Noticing an opening, Tokoyami put as much power in his legs as he could as he jumped forward and kicked Todoroki in the side.

Before he could be grabbed by that ice grip again, Tokoyami bounced back to stay out of reach. Then a massive wall of flames hit him.

"You may have landed a couple of blows but it looks like you can't sustain Dark Shadow much longer. Trying to fuel both of you at once is draining you at a heightened rate. I may be new at using my fire, I'll admit that. But you are new to this power that you obtained not forty minutes ago."

When the fire subsided, Tokoyami was on his knees breathing heavily. The aura surrounding him was gone and Dark Shadow had shrunk to the size of a cat. The quirk was trying to hide inside the chest of his host.

'Shit. He is right. Dark Shadow uses energy by just growing in size as I expend stamina just keeping this aura intact. My best option is to get close and fight in hand-to-hand combat. But both of Todoroki's quirks don't allow that!'

Ice started to cover the floor of the arena. Before Tokoyami could jump to avoid it, his opponent slid over to him and slammed both his arms onto the bird's head.

Tokoyami braced his fall with his hands but when they made contact with the ground the ice pinned him to the ground and kept him from standing up.

Todoroki stood in front of him and raised his left hand. Embers slowly came off his hand. "You fought well but this match is over."

Midnight's voice could be heard from the concrete bunker. "Tokoyami, do you surrender?"

Seeing no way out of this, Tokoyami looked down. Surely there was a way out of this mess but he couldn't find it.

Up in the stands, Endeavor smiled. "There you go, Shoto. Show the world the future number one hero and claim your place amongst the greatest."

"Things aren't looking good for Tokoyami." Recovery Girl's comment snapped me out of my head watching the match. "The boy can't seem to gain a solid foothold against his opponent.

My attention then heads back to the monitor. From what I was sensing, Tokoyami was burning too much stamina just maintaining the power of both himself and Dark Shadow with his ki. It also didn't help that the fire also drained the quirk quickly which required Tokoyami to feed more energy to him.

Maybe if Tokoyami had more practice then he could find a way to prevent that weakness but since he got this power under control not thirty minutes ago then that simply wasn't possible.

Perhaps if it wasn't the middle of the day then Dark Shadow would be able to lose energy less quickly instead of out in the daylight.

Tokoyami, you have to think of a way out of this.

'Think, Dammit! There has to be a way out of this.'

Tokoyami was dodging the ice and fire attacks continuously. Dark Shadow was trying to store up energy in his chest but if this kept up there would be no point. The ki around him was starting to deteriorate. Once it went then he wouldn't have the speed to continue fighting.

'Any ideas, Dark Shadow?' he asked his quirk in his head. The shadow started thinking. Tokoyami dashed to the right to avoid a shot of flames.

'Could we use those ki attacks that Leo uses?'

'I can probably create an orb but I don't know how to launch it. And getting close to Todoroki won't work with those flames of his.'

'We need to figure out how to stop the sun from weakening us. If it was just the flames then we could just attack when he switches to ice and the fire wouldn't have such a large level of light then.'

Then a light bulb went off in both of their heads simultaneously. 'What if we used a dark orb to block out light over the arena?'

Then Tokoyami realized something. 'That would have to be huge! Even if we could do that Todoroki won't just let us charge up something that powerful.'

'It doesn't have to be powerful, it just has to be big. Stop using your ki and I'll see if I can start building up the energy to create it. Once it is done, I'll go as high as possible to place it in the exact spot.'

'How would I be able to dodge the attacks without it?'

'You have been training on how to dodge Leo's attacks since you first met him. Stop focusing on the ki and put all your effort into predicting Todoroki's next move. Let me deal with the orb.'

Reluctantly, Tokoyami let the energy field go and focused on Todoroki. The dual-quirked user placed his right foot down before a column of ice rushed towards him. Tokoyami jumped and rolled out of the way and recovered into a crouch position.

Then Todoroki placed his left foot forward and shot flames at him. Tokoyami jumped onto the ice as it melted and jumped onto the other side.

'He has to switch his body around so he could properly aim at me. And since only one power could be used at a time then that means it is easy to predict what power is being used.'

Tokoyami could feel something growing on his back. The dual-quirked user gritted his teeth and started sending fire towards him. "What are you planning?"

'It's ready!' Dark Shadow screamed at him internally. The shadow flew up in the air with an energy ball about twenty feet in width in his claws. He placed it around thirty feet above them and the arena went dark. The audience still had plenty of sunlight but the orb prevented any from entering the arena.

"Trying to get the advantage by darkening the arena. That energy ball looks pretty sensitive. If it is destroyed then this match is over." He raised his left hand to use his fire quirk but a fist slammed into his chin.

Todoroki flew back toward the edge of the arena. A column of ice rose behind him to prevent him from going out of bounds. Once he recovered, Todoroki looked towards his opponent and went wide-eyed.

Dark Shadow had grown to about ten feet. His yellow eyes glared holes into his opponent. Tokoyami had his ki back around his body and was panting. But from the look of things, he was recovering at a much faster rate.

With the sun not hitting the shadow with sunlight, the quirk was now gaining strength quickly enough to help both of the fighters at once.

Tokoyami dashed forward with newfound speed and slammed his elbow into Todoroki's stomach. The attack blasted back Todoroki even farther. Another ice column rose to prevent him from exiting the arena. Dark Shadow then flew behind the dual-quirk user and rammed into him through the ice.

"You know Todoroki, your father caught me in the hallway before my match with Ashido!" An expression of fury appeared on Todoroki's face from what Tokoyami said. "He told me that I could never defeat his greatest creation. Well, let's just say your father is wrong. I'm going to kick your ass."

Flames burst out of Todoroki's left side and started to consume the arena. Tokoyami used his aura to protect his body with Dark Shadow going behind him to reduce energy lost from the light.

Even with the barrier, the fire was starting to burn Tokoyami as his power began to diminish again. But he gritted his teeth and charged at Todoroki. He sent a flurry of blows at the boy which all connected. The flames never weaken but it was clear that this was the final clash of this fight. Todoroki was going all out and at any moment Tokoyami would lose his stamina.

This became absolute when a column of flame shot into the sky and shattered the weak energy ball in the air. The light hit the center of the arena again as Todoroki nearly collapsed as his fire flickered to nothing.

"There, now to finish you off with my...Shit!"

The loss of the darkness may have diminished the amount of strength he could receive but that didn't matter now. Dark Shadow had wrapped around Tokoyami's arm as the two dashed towards Todoroki before he had a chance to react. Once again using the move he learned by sparring with his friends.

This time all of the energy Tokoyami had left as well as all the darkness that Dark Shadow had was all put into a mighty right hook.

"Shadow Rush!"

Dark Shadow's head slammed into Todoroki as Tokoyami forced the boy into the ground with his punch. The arena shattered across them as the impact knocked Midnight off her feet in the mini bunker.

When the pro got back onto her feet she saw the bird-headed teen stand over the unconscious body of his opponent. He then fell over backward and landed with a thud.

Midnight walked over to the two boys and kneeled to check on them. Todoroki had a nasty cut on his forehead and looked like he had a broken nose. Slight burn marks crossed his left arm.

For Tokoyami, he was still conscious but just like Todoroki, the fire left him with second-degree burns across his body. Many feathers on his head appeared to be singed. He also looked extremely exhausted but it couldn't be ignored that he still had the strength to stay awake.

"Tokoyami is still conscious while Todoroki is not. Therefore, the winner is Tokoyami!" The crowd started clapping for the two fighters. It was by far the best fight all day and there was no doubt about that.

Both Todoroki and Tokoyami rested in beds next to each other. Recovery Girl was too scared to use her quirk on them because of the lack of energy the two students had. And the biggest problem was being discussed by both Recovery Girl and me.

"With only one senzu bean left, we can't choose rationally. Both have injuries that could scar them for life but with only one bean how can we heal both?"

"If we cut the bean in half then it will heal all permanent damage but leave them both sidelined for the rest of the event. It is our best and most fair option."

Todoroki decided to butt in."Just give the bean to Tokoyami. He has a match he has to attend to and I could live with a few scars."

Recovery Girl turned to him. "The scars you received are worse because you went overboard with your fire and it may not feel like it but there are third-degree burns on most of your left side. And Tokoyami also has burns on his body. We are splitting the bean-like Leo says."

"Tokoyami deserves his shot at the top. Look how far he came in this short event. There may not be another chance like this." Todoroki shot back. I stepped between the two to calm them down.

Tokoyami then spoke up. "I forfeit."

We all turned to him in shock. "I won't have Todoroki scarred for life just so I can get injured in another match. Throughout this tournament, I pushed myself to the breaking point time after time again and I believe that there is no reason to push any farther. I showed what I could do."

He then grinned. "Plus, you can't tell me you don't want to see Bakugou's reaction to missing two fights and getting in first off a fluke."

They all looked at each other. Bakugou's match with Iida was canceled because of some personal issues that had come up. The blonde had lost his shit in the waiting area and was currently waiting for the decision to continue into the finals.

"Then I will contact Eraserhead and tell him to announce Bakugou as the winner of the Sports Festival. Leo cut the bean and give them each half. Then you can leave." She then jumped out of her chair and left the room.

I did as she instructed and gave the two boys half a bean each. Their major injuries healed up just fine but some bruising remained.

"If either of you needs anything then just send me a message in the chat. Other than that I will see you at school." And with that, I exited the room.

"It appears the tournament is over."

The women got up and stretched. "I should leave before a crowd begins to form. Don't want others to recognize me and to get the media on me. It was nice meeting you, Luna."

Luna turned to the blonde and gave a thumbs up. "It was nice meeting you as well. Thank you for keeping me in one place when the wind picked up." She also looked around to make sure nobody was listening. Then she spoke again at a lower volume. "And thank you for stopping that ice column. There was nobody else around to do so and you hid your arm after the attack."

The women chuckled. "You are welcome. Who knows. We may meet each other again in the future."

"I hope so. Also if you don't mind me asking? What should I call you?" It then occurred to the pro that she had never mentioned who she was. She placed her hand next to her mouth so that the green-haired girl would be the only one who could hear her.

"I've been known by many names but you can call me Ryukyu."

She then winked at the girl and pulled her hood over her face and left through the exit next to them. In the hallway, she got a text from her work-study student. She looked at the screen of her phone and read it to herself.

Nejire Hado: Did you find any potential students at the 1st year festival?

Ryukyu typed a few words before sending the message.

Ryukyu: A few. Not going to send any Internships this year but keep a close eye on some students for me.

Nejire Hado: Any in mind?

She thought about it for a moment. She wanted to look for those with under-appreciated talent. That is why she often got young Heroines to work for her because they were often overlooked by the male competitors. Uraraka proved more than useful in the first round and put up a good fight in the following two. Then she saw a frog girl named Asui who kept up with others while nobody was looking. Nobody her take ninth place in the first round and she lost the second round because they didn't detect that their headband was lost. Both are good candidates.

Then her mind went to Luna and how she told her that her brother was particularly strong so there was no reason for her to worry whenever it had been announced that he was attacked. There were already several rumors that were spreading on how the attack was just a way to give the quirkless teen some positive influence without him being publicly put on display. But so far the only publicity he has gotten was bad because of how all of his achievements have been away from public eyes.

Perhaps, though, she should keep an eye on him. Just in case.

Ryukyu: These three for now. Ochako Uraraka, Tsuyu Asui, and "Leo"

All Might was in his muscle form walking down the hallway to the stadium break room. Hopefully, nobody would be in there so he could relax into his skinny state instead of maintaining the bulked-up mass he was currently in.

He had just given the medals to the top three of the Sports Festival. Bronze was missing a member and the remaining bronze and silver were both covered in bandages. Meanwhile, first place was chained to a pillar to prevent him from going ape shit on anyone around him.

That boy has some anger issues.

Up ahead he saw three people talking to one another. One wore a suit with a bow tie and appeared to be carrying a briefcase. This man was speaking to Nezu and the principal appeared to be attempting to apologize to him.

"Forgive us for not taking the appropriate measure on making sure our student is safe. We had no idea that a villain would attack his route to the stadium. I assure you that it will not happen again."

The man waved a hand. "Do not apologize Mr. Nezu. If you had known then it wouldn't have happened. I am just happy no innocent was harmed."

The principal smiled. "Thank you for being considerate. Our student has already confirmed that he will take a different route to school each day. Other safety methods are already being discussed." Nezu then saw All Might approaching them. "Ah, perfect. Ambassador, allow me to introduce our top hero. All Might."

"Hello there, Ambassador. It is an honor to meet you. I hope you enjoyed the Sports Festival." He shook the ambassador's hand as the man gave a slight bow.

"Indeed, hero. You should be very proud. Your students are growing to be excellent warriors." The man then motioned to the remaining man in the group. "Now let me introduce one of our universe's warriors. All Might meet Chris Dratten."

"Chris Dratten!? This is Akidna's former mentor."

All Might shook Dratten's hand. "It is a pleasure to meet you. Your student has accomplished many things since his arrival. I must apologize that he didn't attend the Sports Festival today."

"I am sure there will be future opportunities. But if I may, I would like to speak with you in private." The man motioned towards an empty room. All Might hesitated. He could already feel his form slipping. If he didn't get out of sight soon then someone could see him dwindle into his skinny form. But he couldn't exactly turn this down and look bad in front of the ambassador.

He nodded and they both entered the empty room. Dratten closed the door behind them leaving them alone. The hero then turned to him and began to speak.

"Now what was it that you wanted to speak aboGAAH!"

Dratten had slammed his palm into the Number one hero's stomach. Right into his weak spot. The man backed up and fell to one knee as he clutched his stomach.

"What was that for?!"

"You seemed to be struggling. I just bought us some time to speak."

Then Toshinori realized that he was no longer struggling to maintain his muscle form. His stomach no longer held much pain after the strike yet he could still feel the wound that covered it.

"What did you do?" He looked at the fighter from Universe one. The man held up a ball of energy in his hand.

"It was difficult to notice, even for me, but energy was leaking out of your stomach and was starting to slow down. In the second I struck you, my energy replaced a portion of your missing power so that this enhanced form you have can be held for a little bit longer. However, the tissue has already healed over itself so a full fix is beyond possible for even me."

All Might stood back up. He felt as if his timer had been reset entirely. Still in a daze, asked. "So what is it that you wanted to talk about?"

Dratten walked to a window overlooking the arena. "I'm sure you know who I am or at least heard stories about me."

The hero walked beside him and watched as people began to leave. "One of our teachers does not like how you are a soldier that kills. This is the same teacher who is in charge of Akidna. But he does not show any hatred towards him."

The warrior glanced at him from the corner of his eye. "We both hold similar roles in our respective universes. Our mere existence makes people hesitate to act violently in some way. Even if our methods are vastly different."

He glanced at the center of the arena where both Luna and Leo were helping a limping Tokoyami out of the arena. However, their faces showed them laughing amongst themselves. "But Leo is not me. While I am a monster who does not hesitate to get a job done the most efficient way possible, he chooses the path that locks him into being more human than I could ever be."

"He has already surpassed me in the mindset but one day soon I fear that he will be pushed to the breaking point mentally. When that happens there must be people that remind him that things will get better."

All Might looked at the man. "That boy is strong. He already saved my life once. I promise that at UA he will not stray from the path of a hero."

The man nodded. Then started heading towards the door but stopped before he could reach it. "All documents that have Leo's real name have been destroyed right?"

"Um...yeah. The only way someone could figure out his name is through the teachers or any who Leo has told. Which is not many I'm assuming. Why?"

"Good, then that makes things easier."

Then in that split second. Faster than anybody could think. All the teachers of UA had a finger placed on their heads. Any memory of the name Leonard Akidna was removed from their minds. To All Might, it appeared as if Dratten had never moved.

"I just used my energy manipulation to remove any traces of Leo's name from your minds. Do not worry, I did not invade any secrets but the fewer people that know of it the better."

It took a second for All Might to compensate for what the man had just said. But when he did he realized that he could not think of Leo's real name for the life of him.

"H-how did you…?"

"When I touch a person's head. Their life energy can be read at a much easier pace where distant sensing is impossible. There, I scanned the energy of someone's mind in relation to the name I was trying to remove. Anything you know about him that you already knew is still there but his name will never reach your head again unless he tells you his name in person."

"But you would have to touch them to do it! So that means…!"

The warrior laughed. "Now I'm fast but I'm not that fast. I used a technique that splits my power into clones of me so I could use a teleporting technique to get to each teacher. Erased the name, then teleported back and merged my power again. It was fast enough that you didn't see it but that is because you are not in your prime."

"If I had to guess. My current state of power is probably equal to that of your prime."

This was a lot to take in for the hero. But before any other question could be asked Dratten looked up. "It looks like the ambassador used a dimension device to return home. I should follow. Remember what I said number one."

The man outstretched his hand. Shattered glass appeared in front of him and formed what appeared to be a tear in reality. "Fist of Shattered Star: Universe Gate." He then walked into the tear and it closed behind him.

All Might was then left alone in the room. His mind was racing as well as his heart. The two of them appeared to be the same age but he was as strong as he was in his prime. In his current state! Signifying that he could become stronger.

"How could a quirkless man become so strong!"

Hop and I glared at each other across the fighting stage. Her nails slightly outstretched as she prepared to launch herself. My fingers flexed as my senses enhanced to prepare for what came next.

Luna watched at the sidelines as the two prepared to fight. After the Sports Festival, I picked up Luna and brought her to Universe 500.9. When Hop learned about the incident with the villain she demanded we spar so that she could get an accurate reading on how far I've come.

The fight started when Luna flipped a coin and it hit the ground. Hop dashed towards me and slashed at me with a right. My counter was to lace my fingers between hers to prevent the claws from hitting me. I then twisted my hand and flipped her over me.

"You need to come up with new moves."

Her response to my statement was for her feet to plant themselves into the ground before her back could touch the floor. This gave her leverage to swing me other HER head and slam me into the ground.

"And you need to remember to never let the stronger fighter grab you."

She yelped when I used ki to shoot me across the ground and forced her to let go. But not before I hit her with a ki blast to the face. The feline quickly shook it off but when she tried searching for me she couldn't find me.

"You know I can sense energy right!" Hop closed her eyes and tried to find my location. But the second she did, I dashed down from above and ax chopped her on the head. The force drove her head down which I then hit with an upward kick.

Hop had gotten better at not losing control of her anger when she was struck by me. Her training with John helped her to improve on not making her past affect her when she fights but sometimes it slips through.

I gave her some distance and took my martial arts stance again. Hop brushed her hand under her nose to see if there was blood only to find none. My foot still throbbed from the impact of the kick. Any damage I could do to her was always minimal.

"Not bad, not bad. But can you keep up if I increase the speed?"

"Try me."

She smirked before disappearing. Whenever this happened, it always meant she would try to slam her elbow into my gut from behind. Using the flowing water-crushing rock, I created a flow that forced her attack into the ground with one foot and the other swept around before sweeping towards her head.

A tail caught my leg and the next thing I know my back is embedded into the wall at the other side of the room.

"Pretty good considering the power difference between the two of us. Although I question how Basil lost to you."

I groaned. "He was taken by surprise with the Kaioken technique. Before he could recover I had already knocked him out."

"Ah yes, the Kaioken. I've heard you have managed to get it to a thousand, yes?"

All eyes turned to the black-haired man who entered the room. He wore a green t-shirt and blue jeans as well as black shoes. He could easily be confused as some random citizen if not for the tense aura around him.

Hop looked like she might have a heart attack. "D-D-Dratten! It's nice to meet you again." The poor feline looked downright horrified. While she was perfectly fine with being around others of great power this wasn't the case for Dratten. At least not when she witnessed him rip a guy's spine out of his neck. The same one who she was struggling to fight.

"Calm down. You have spoken to me normally before. I'm not that intimidating. Am I?" He turned to me and in response, I nodded. Shrugging, Dratten then walked to Hop. Her body was shaking tremendously. "Okay, breath. I am not here to hurt you. And even if I was, I'm not as violent as when we first met."

The feline slowly started to breathe slower until she was back to normal. A look of hesitation still showed on her face but that was normal for most people around Dratten.

The warrior turned to me. "Now, Leo, what do you say to a spar? I wish to speak with you and test you. So why not do both?" He then glanced at the other two. "And this is a private talk so I'm sorry but can you two head to the other room?"

Hop and Luna nodded before leaving the fighting area to get drinks from the front bar. Dratten walked to the opposite side of the room and his arms slacked to his sides. "Now let's begin."

I dashed towards him and struck at his face. He lazily caught my fist. "I spoke to one of your teachers. Went by the name All Might." He then threw me across the room with one hand.

My feet slam into the ground before propelling me back at him. This time a leg was caught an inch from his face. It didn't change the look of effortlessness on his face. "What did you talk to him about?"

Dratten took a step forward and drilled his foot into the ground. This used the momentum that I used to charge at him and shifted the force right back at me. Effectively, hitting me with my attack. My body tumbled back a few feet before stopping by using all four of my limbs. Then disappearing as I dash around Dratten in circles to try to find an opening.

"Just wanted to make sure he doesn't view you as they do me. But it wasn't the only reason I was there." He raised his left hand casually and used his knuckle to repel a ki blast back at me. It caused me to tumble but I quickly recovered and started bouncing around the room.

"Kamehame...ha!" I fired the mighty attack above the warrior but he simply raised his hand and condensed the attack into a small orb before crushing it. "And your other reason?"

"I erased your name from the teacher's memories. And before you ask. I didn't look at their past." He swiped the air in front of him and the force drove me straight into the same wall that Hop had shoved me in earlier.

I jumped out. "You what!? Chris, you can't just go about erasing people's memories like that!" I started using a ki barrage to try to make an opening. The man simply put his hands behind his back and created a circular barrier around him.

"It was just a safety measure. Not even the higher-ups in my job know your name. The only ones you know are the ones that need to or those who you have told. Anyone, you have told me I will trust to keep it a secret. But out of curiosity, who have you told?"

I stop launching my attack and glared at him. "If I tell you and later find out you erased their memories of my name you will regret it."

Dratten shrugs. "Fair enough." He then disappeared before a hand grabbed the back of my neck. "I win."

Giving a slight growl, I turned to him. "The only ones I told are Hop and Tokoyami." Dratten nodded at this.

"So the bird-head knows. That explains how he learned ki control. And Hop doesn't surprise me. You two were always close since the tournament I had you join. You know me and John had a bet on what would happen when you two met face to face. It was on who would win."

I rolled my eyes and walked up to him. He then gave a slight chuckle. "God, his face when he owed me one hundred bucks."

"You betted AGAINST me! You son of an angry dog!" I threw a haymaker at him out of anger which he lazily dodged.

"I was just surprised that John thought you stood a chance. Although, if it helps, he did get paid two hundred because you two became friends after you were properly introduced. My bet would be you two would hate each other's guts."

Lightly punching his shoulder, I responded "Well at least we know which of the two of you actually know about people's emotions. You are just a bottled-up reincarnation of rage and only rage."

Dratten flipped me off before making his way to the edge of the room. "Just realize, you can't keep the Kaioken hidden forever. Eventually, you will have to reveal it. Also…" He swiped his hand in front of him to use his super martial art to create a dimension breach. Looking back he finished. "...you need to remember that although you can reach one thousand if you can't hold it for more than a second then don't use it. Until we meet again."

He walked through the portal and it sealed behind him.

Oh shit, oh shit, I'm sorry.

Me: "I promise I will upload more often"

Also Me: Doesn't upload for more than two months.

I feel like trying to rush the stories is just painful and bad for the plot. Granted it has all been set up so far for the future but it is still there.

Also yeah, Ryukyu will be the second character to get more attention as well as Tokoyami. It may be a little bit till we see her again but once she does pop up more I'll have to create more arcs with her to make some development. I feel like her use in the cannon story is extremely underused and there aren't many fanfictions with her in it.

Plus, she is my second favorite character in MHA.

The next arc is the internships and some of you may be disappointed but that is because Leo's internship is going to be a little different than everybody else.

Once again, I'm sorry.
