Jack O'Neill, Daniel Jackson, and SG-1, except Siler, who was staying on the cargo ship, popped up at the beginning of a hallway. The control chair was at the other end, on a platform. The outpost seemed very similar to Jack's version, as he could briefly see. Jack couldn't analyze the scene in detail because SG-1 had to quickly use their weapons. Their target: the Jaffas who were in front of them, in the middle of the hallway, and who were attacking the Air Force troops protecting the device. When SG-1 was done, they rushed to their fellows. Jack could see that the other corridors around the seat were being raided, too. The Air Force soldiers and US Marines were resisting quite well for the moment, using machine guns and assault rifles. Walls of sandbags and the pillars supporting the structure were protecting them.

A man, in his forties, had to shout to Carter because of the noise, "Thanks, ma'am!"

"You're welcome, captain!" Carter shouted back.

All of a sudden, one of the soldiers behind the captain warned, "Others are coming!"

SG-1 turned around. With the captain and the soldiers, they fired at the Jaffas who had just appeared.

Carter shouted, "Mitchell! O'Neill! Jackson! Let's go to the seat!", while firing.

Mitchell looked at O'Neill and gestured with the hand to the seat. O'Neill understood that Mitchell was telling him to go first with Jackson. Jack pulled Daniel's sleeve, the man was carrying a backpack. Carter and Mitchell covered them and brought up the rear. O'Neill knelt at the corner of the platform where in his reality, he inserted the ZPM. He heard Carter call for help at the plaform. Jack focused on the device.

"Daniel, give me the ZPM!" the man shouted, to be heard.

Daniel knelt and opened the backpack while Jack was covering him with a M4. The archeologist handed the device to Jack, who placed it inside the platform. Carter and Mitchell were now protecting them, with other Air Force and USMC guys around the platform. A blast died on the platform, next to Jack. The man staggered.

Carter hurried to him. "You're okay?" she asked, worried.

Jack straightened and responded, "Yes!"

In the chaos, nobody saw that Jaffa leave his hiding place, to aim his weapon at the group.

Nobody saw that Jaffa fire.

Everybody at the control chair saw Samantha Carter hit by the blast.

Jack thought, at the beginning, that the scene wasn't real. But it was.

Jack saw Sam fall backwards.

Jack forgot the ZPM and the control chair to check on Sam. Then, he got distracted by the Jaffa who shot her.

Jack O'Neill had a shock.

The Jaffa who shot Sam was Rya'c. Teal'c's son.

The young man had become a Jaffa serving a false god who wasn't Apophis as the mark on his forehead wasn't Apophis's. Jack couldn't tell whose Goa'uld it was, but Rya'c's mark was different from the Jaffas' that SG-1 killed when they arrived. The attack was the result of an alliance between at least two Goa'uld. Rya'c was also wearing a long cape, unlike the other Jaffas, which meant he was a sort of section leader now.

Rya'c smirked, satisfied he wounded Sam. He could have hit anyone else, but he chose Sam. Was Rya'c avenging his father because he knew that Sam killed him?

The smirk was the last thing Rya'c did in his life.

Mitchell fired at the young man. The Jaffa fell onto the floor.

O'Neill was stunned. Sam shooting Teal'c, Rya'c shooting Sam, Mitchell shooting Rya'c. That was insane.

Mitchell's voice snapped Jack out of his state of shock, "You're okay?"

The man with the ATA gene shook his head and went back to business. He looked at Sam.

She was seriously injured at the waist. She was bleeding a lot. Daniel was trying to stop the bleeding with bandages. He wasn't panicking at all. He was very focused. Jack was proud of this Daniel. Sam was gasping in pain, tears in the eyes. O'Neill came to help Jackson, but Carter grabbed his combat vest.

"The weapon… Activate it!" Sam ordered. "The weapon!" she repeated, looking at Jack with determination, despite the pain.

Jack looked at Daniel. The man nodded to Jack, as if to confirm that the visitor from another reality could achieve his mission with the assurance that Sam wouldn't be alone. O'Neill looked at Mitchell, who was covering the group nearby with the other soldiers. The captain who welcomed them earlier had joined them in the meantime, with a few other USAF members.

Cameron made a quick nod and shouted to everyone, "Okay people, on three. One, two, three!"

Mitchell and his military companions fired at will and formed a human barricade around the seat. A group of Jaffas had gotten rid of sandbags and the people behind it in one corridor, and was now progressing to the control chair. Mitchell and his comrades gave them no chance to approach.

Jack sat in the control chair.

He placed his hands on the platforms at the end of each armrest.

He closed his eyes.

He took a deep breath.

He focused.

He hoped it would work like it worked in his reality.
