Hey babes! Back again with a new chapter! The FINAL. CHAPTER. Wow. Thanks to everyone's who's stuck around this long and has given this story some love at one point or another. The moment that most, if not all, of you have been waiting for; the wedding day. This is a fun one, and very sweet. It's all come to this. Wow.
I won't say that this is my last Skyeward story ever, but probably for a while. I'm so focused on some other fandoms right now that I'm getting inspiration for on a more consistent basis. So this isn't goodbye forever, just for now.
Enjoy!
THE DYNAMIC DUO TIES THE KNOT
Today is the day that many fans have been waiting a long time for; the marriage between two of Hollywood's biggest stars, Grant Ward and Skye.
Ever since these two were cast as the two leads in their first movie together, almost everyone who sees these two talents on screen together has fallen in love; both with their talent and their chemistry.
It was no surprise to anyone when these two finally announced their relationship after two years of somehow managing to keep it all under wraps, despite being so well-known and closely followed by so many. And since then, they didn't hold back in letting their love unfold all over social media.
And the fans have eaten it all up.
And now today these two incredible people are going to pledge their love for each other in front of all of their friends and family. It's a day that we wish we could be there for, but we'll just have to wait for all the news and photos to be released afterward.
We're so happy for these two stars and wish them all the best in the years to come.

Skye breathes deeply as she stands in front of the full-length mirror, running her hands down the front of her dress to smooth out the fabric. She fiddles with the design, still not quite believing that her vision of the perfect dress actually came to life. It's far more beautiful than she had imagined it would be. And she absolutely loves it.
Looking directly at her reflection, she casts her eyes over every piece that she's able to see, checking for any imperfections in her makeup. But she finds none. Thankfully.
It had taken a few hours to get ready, but now she's finally done. She just has to wait a little while longer before she gets to take that long walk down the aisle to the man she loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with.
"Oh, this is so exciting. You're getting married in less than an hour."
Skye turns away from the mirror and smiles at her friend. "I know. I still can't believe this is happening. A few years ago I was just a nobody making indie films while simultaneously fangirling over Grant. Now I'm a series regular on a TV show that has hundreds of people recognizing me and I'm going to marry the man I used to fantasize about." She laughs quietly, shaking her head. "And I can't believe I just told you that last bit."
Jemma laughs with her from her place in one of the cushioned chairs. "Oh, it's quite alright, Skye. I'm just happy that Grant is doing this. And I'm also glad that we became such good friends."
"Same. Even though you're Grant's ex and I'm about to become his wife, I'm really glad things aren't awkward between us. Because it very easily could have been."
"I'm glad as well," Jemma says with a nod. "For a long time I thought that when I walked down the aisle, I'd be walking toward Grant. But after I came back, I could tell that wasn't going to happen. And I'm okay with it. I know he loves you, Skye. And I love Leo very much, so I think everything is just how it should be."
Skye smiles, tears in her eyes. "I'm glad to hear that." She breathes deeply to stave off the tears; she does not need to mess up her makeup. "Also, the look on Grant's face when he realized how close we got was an added bonus."
Jemma nods her head and laughs. "Yes, it was. Now, let's make sure everything is ready. You want to look your absolute best out there."
"Skye always looks her best."
Skye turns around in time to see her best friend walking through the doorway, looking beyond gorgeous in her Maid of Honor dress. Her hair and makeup are done expertly, the same as the rest of the Bridesmaids.
She smiles widely. "Bobbi." She steps toward the other woman and immediately pulls her into a tight hug. "How's Sammy doing?"
Bobbi sighs. "As well as she can be. Your parents have her right now, but I just pray to whoever is listening that she won't have any kind of meltdown for whatever reason during the actual ceremony."
"You know I wouldn't care if she did. Her cute little face definitely makes up for it."
"Yeah, but it's the principle of the thing. No bride actually wants anything to go wrong on her wedding day."
Skye lets out a small laugh. "Well, you're certainly not wrong there."
A soft knock at the door alerts the woman to a new presence, all of them turning to see Skye's parents stepping through, her mom first, probably making sure everyone is decent.
"Hi, sweetheart. Are you ready?" she asks, stepping inside and closing the door after her husband steps in.
Skye takes a deep breath and nods, a wide smile stretching across her lips. "Definitely. I love Grant and I am beyond ready to marry him. Are you ready to walk me down the aisle, dad?" she asks, looking at the man in question.
He sighs. "I don't know about that. It's hard for me to really let go because you're my little girl, but I will because I love you and want you to be happy. And I know Grant makes you happy."
Skye smiles wide, her eyes brimming with tears. "Thanks, dad." She breathes deeply and stands up a little straighter. "Okay, are we all ready then?"
"I think so," Bobbi replies. "Everyone out there is ready and waiting. Let's go get you married."
.
.
.
"You ready for this, mate?"
Grant nods and breathes deeply as he turns to face his best friend, a smile permanently etched onto his face. "I am more than ready, Kebo. I have been wanting to do this for a very long time."
"Just to let you know, marriage isn't all it's cracked up to be. I can't tell you how many times Hannah's gotten after me for—"
"For what, dear?"
The color drains from Kebo's face as he turns around to see his wife standing behind him, one hand on her hip and an eyebrow raised. He gives her a sheepish smile. "Oh, sweetheart. How long have you been standing there?"
"Long enough."
"Right. You misunderstood me just then. I wasn't complaining, see? I was just...advising Grant, on the best way to keep a marriage working smoothly."
"Mm-hmm. Maybe you should be listening to that advice, then." She looks him up and down once before turning and walking away.
Kebo grimaces and turns back to Grant. "Well, I better go figure that out before I somehow make it worse."
Grant chuckles at his friend's retreating form, watching as he chases after his wife. Their relationship has always baffled him, but they've been together long enough that he guesses whatever they have works for them.
"You good, Grant?"
Turning, he smiles at his sister, letting out a huffed laugh. "I'm nervous. Is that normal? I mean...I love her and I'm ready to marry her, but I'm still nervous."
Amanda smiles at him, reaching up to readjust his tie. "All part of getting married. And I'm very proud of you, by the way. This is a very big step and I can't think of a woman more perfect for you to spend the rest of your life with."
"She is pretty amazing."
Soft music flows through the speakers set up at the back of the aisle, drawing their attention toward it. The doors are still closed, though he knows the bridal party is lining up behind it, getting ready to walk.
"I guess that's my cue to go find my seat," Amanda tells him. She reaches up to place a hand on his cheek. "I'm so happy for you."
"Thanks, Mandy." He smiles at her as she walks away back toward her seat, sitting down next to her husband and eldest son.
Taking a deep breath, Grant shifts in his spot, clasping his hands together in front of him as he watches the doors open and the wedding processional starts. He smiles at each person that comes down the aisle toward him, taking their place on either side of the altar. Each of his groomsmen, as well as Skye's bridesmaids, dressed elegantly but not too fancy, gliding swiftly down the aisle.
His niece and nephew make their way down the aisle next. His nephew carries the wedding bands atop a small pillow and his niece holds tightly to her basket filled with flower petals.
"Hi, Uncle Grant!" Katie exclaims as she gets closer, waving to him excitedly.
He laughs quietly. "Hey, Katie."
The music easily changes its tune and Grant's heart swells with it. He stands straighter and adjusts the front of his jacket, sucking in a deep breath as he waits.
And then the doors open one final time and he sees her. His breath is taken away at the sight of her in her wedding dress. It fits her perfectly and makes her look even more beautiful than he already knows she is.
Tears prick at his eyes as he watches her slowly move closer, her father at her side. He doesn't even try to fight back the tears, letting them fall freely down his cheeks.
Grant smiles politely at his soon-to-be father-in-law once they've reached the front of the aisle. He shakes the man's hand quickly before focusing all of his attention on Skye.
He takes her hand in his, smiling brightly to match hers. "You look...incredible," he says quietly as the officiant begins speaking to the gathered crowd.
"Thanks." She reaches up to wipe some of the tears off his cheeks. "So do you."
"And now, Grant and Skye have chosen to recite their own vows."
Grant shares a quick nod with the officiant before taking a deep breath as he holds tightly to Skye's hands. "Our whole relationship started with an accidentally spilled cup of coffee when we met. And looking back, it's the only time I've ever been grateful to have spilled coffee on someone. Getting to work with you every day is one of my favorite things. But loving you is even better. And having you love me back is the best. Ever since I've been with you, it's difficult for me to look back on my life and think about how you haven't always been there. I love you with all my heart and I always will."
Skye smiles widely at him, wiping away some of her tears that had fallen during Grant's vows. She grabs his hand again and breathes deeply. "Wow. Um, I guess what I want to say the most right now is that I love you. But I guess that's kind of a given since I'm standing up here with you in front of all our friends and family. I think I've loved you for longer than I'm willing to admit, but I pushed it aside because I didn't want to be another cliché that falls in love with her co-star. But I did. And I don't care. You're my everything, Grant. I love getting to wake up next to you every morning and go to work together. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
"Do you have the rings?" the officiant asks.
"I've got them," Caleb says excitedly, holding up the pillow with the rings on it. "Here, Uncle Grant!" He steps closer and smiles wide.
"Thanks, buddy," Grant says with a smile, untying the thin ribbon that's holding the rings to the pillow. He turns back to Skye and hands the larger of the two rings to her, breathing deeply. "Here we go."
"Do you, Grant, take Skye to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
Grant smiles, sliding the ring onto Skye's finger. "I do."
"And do you, Skye, take Grant to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
Skye matches Grant's smile, sliding his ring onto his finger. "I do."
"Then by the power vested in me by the State of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."
Grant's smile widens as he gently tugs on Skye's hands to pull her closer, leaning down to slide his lips over hers. As he does, he lets go of her hands and instead grabs her hips, pulling her even closer.
Skye returns the kiss in kind, winding her arms up around his neck and playing with the hairs at the base of his neck. Pulling back just enough, Skye beams up at Grant, all the love she has for him shining in her eyes. "We're married."
Grant returns her smile. "Yes, we are."

Sometime later, the reception is in full swing; food is being eaten, guests are intermingling, couples and children are dancing to the music. Everyone is having a good time and enjoying themselves, much to Grant and Skye's delight. The two of them are standing near their designated table, talking to various guests that approach to congratulate them.
"Grant, Skye."
Turning her head, Skye beams when she sees Clint and Natasha approaching them. "Natasha," she says as she pulls her agent into a hug while Grant embraces Clint. "I'm so glad you guys could make it. I feel like I haven't seen you in forever."
"Well, that's what happens when you get a series regular role in a popular tv show and only need me to work behind the scenes to make sure your contract is continually being upheld. That and I do have other clients I represent."
Skye sighs. "Yeah, I know."
"Congratulations, by the way. Marriage is something I never thought I'd want. Until I met Clint. Sometimes it just takes the right person."
Skye smiles, glancing up at Grant briefly. "Don't I know it."
"Okay, everyone," the DJ they'd hired for the reception speaks into a microphone at one end of the space. "We're gonna take a little break from the dancing for a moment to have some speeches. First up, we have the Maid of Honor for today's celebration, followed by our Best Man. Get on up here, Maid of Honor."
Skye smiles as she watches Bobbi approach the DJ, Sammy sitting comfortably on her hip, one of her favorite toys held tightly in her hand.
"Hey, everyone," the tall blonde says into the mic that's handed to her. "I'm Bobbi, best friend to the bride. I just wanted to take a minute to talk about the newlyweds and how unbelievably happy I am for them. I've known Skye since we were kids and she's always been...insanely full of energy. So I'm extremely glad that she's finally found someone who can truly handle that for the rest of their lives." She locks eyes with Skye and lets out a laugh. "And as for Grant," she says, sobering back up, "I didn't get the pleasure of being able to call him my friend until just a couple of years ago. But I've always been a fan of his work, as has Skye. So now seeing the two of them together, so beyond happy, it makes me happy. I love you both so much, and I know you're going to have a great life together."
Skye smiles with tears in her eyes as Bobbi hands the mic to Kebo as they switch places. She mouths an 'I love you' to Bobbi and blows her an air kiss which Bobbi promptly returns.
"Hi. I'm Kebo. I'm Grant's best mate. He and I...we go way back, unfortunately. He's been there for me through my best and absolute worst times. He truly is a great guy, one of the best I've ever known. And Skye is an equally great woman. They're perfect for each other and I can't think of a better person to want my friend to spend the rest of his life with. It helps that Skye's willing to share and hear embarrassing stories of Grant, so that's a big bonus for me." He grins wide. "Congrats, you two. You both deserve all the happiness this world has to offer."
Kebo hands the mic back to the DJ as he moves off the floor, sharing a smile and nod of the head with Grant as he does.
"Alright," the DJ speaks up. "At this time, we have one more speech to be given, as a special request, by the sister of the groom. Take it away, Amanda."
Amanda smiles as she stands from her chair and makes her way to the microphone.
Grant and Skye share a look of surprise with each other before focusing on Amanda.
Clearing her throat, she opens her mouth to start speaking. "I didn't tell Grant and Skye I was going to speak today." She smiles sweetly over at them. "I wanted it to be a surprise. So surprise." She lets out a small laugh. "Anyways, I always had a feeling that this day was coming. Ever since Grant first called me to tell me about the girl that was cast as his opposite for some big movie he was a part of but couldn't tell me about, I just had a feeling. And then, and he's going to hate me for this, whenever he'd call me on the phone to tell me another story involving Skye from work or just something random about her that he found out, I knew he was completely taken with her. You could hear it in his voice. And I'm happy to say that he still sounds like that whenever he talks about her, but he sounds even happier because he's actually with her. But the funny part in all of this is that he swore to me on the phone that day that he wasn't going to fall for his co-star. He promised me he wouldn't. Clearly, he broke that promise. But I'm so glad that he did." She looks over at Skye and smiles. "Because Skye is such an amazing person and she's so perfect for my brother. My kids absolutely love her too, which is great. She's also like the little sister I never had which is awesome because I always wanted a little sister. Just ask Grant, I think he has some horror stories of me dressing him up and trying to braid his hair." She pauses as the crowd laughs. "But seriously, I'm so happy for the both of you, and I truly wish you both all the best."
After the speeches, the celebration continues for a while longer before slowing down. Little by little, people begin to leave for the night. Leftovers from the meal are packed away, gifts from the guests are gathered up to be taken home, tables and chairs begin to be put away.
Ambient noises surround the bride and groom as they sit together in one of the chairs, Skye fitting comfortably in Grant's lap. Her legs are draped across sideways and her arms are wrapped around his neck. Her head rests on his chest and her eyes slowly start to flutter closed.
Grant gently nudges her, shifting a little in the seat. "Skye. Hey, wake up."
"What?" she mumbles, almost near sleep.
"I want to show you something." He shifts a little more, enough that he can pull his new wedding band off of his finger. "Look at the inside," he says quietly to his new bride, holding the ring out to her. "Go on."
Glancing down at the large silver band that's now in her palm, Skye tilts the item so she can see the inside of it. Etched into the smooth metal is one simple word 'Rookie'.
She looks back up at him with tears shining in her eyes. "Really?"
"Now look at yours," he whispers, gesturing to the smaller ring on her finger as he takes his ring and slips it back on.
She carefully takes her ring off and tilts it to look at the inside. 'Robot'.
Tears shining in her eyes, she looks back up at him. "I love them," she whispers. "It's perfect."
He beams. "I'm glad you think so. I was a little hesitant about it at first, but then I ran the idea by Bobbi and she loved it."
"She does know me pretty well." She slides the ring onto her finger again before wrapping her arms back around Grant's neck. "And she's probably the only person I've told about the whole 'Robot/Rookie' thing."
"I know. I'm okay with that."
"Me too. Even if we don't say it all that much anymore. It's our thing. No one else's."
"Exactly as it should be."
