"You friend-zoned him? Alya why would you do that?" Bianca starred at her friend in disbelief. They were walking through the park to meet up with their friends from Keaton.

"Because that's what we are, Bianca. Friends. Did you listen to what I have just told you? I apologized for telling him how I felt and he agreed that I shouldn't have. If he had feelings for me too, he would have told me then, don't you think? So can we please drop this subject now. I just want to get over him."

"Fine." Bianca wasn't satisfied, but knew she couldn't do anything right now. Why didn't he tell her? That didn't make sense at all. She had to talk to Miles about it.

They spotted Scarlett, Kit and Jax who were sitting in the shadow of a big oak tree and joined them.

"It's so great to see you all," Alya smiled and sat down in the grass.

Bianca took place besides Scarlett. "How was the concert last night?" she asked Kit and Jax.

"It was great. Jax made me go so early we ended up standing in the front row. He was so excited about it, that he almost wet his pants," Kit teased her boyfriend.
"I'm sorry but Floetic is just the best DJ ever – except for DJ Diamond Mind of course" Jax said.

Bianca, Jax, Kit and Scarlett shared a knowing look, but Alya didn't notice. Her thoughts kept wondering off. While she had been looking forward to seeing her friends, she was also really nervous knowing that Miles was coming, too. When she finally saw him heading towards the group, her muscles tensed up and she had to resist the sudden urge to jump up and run away. Bianca must have sensed her uneasiness. She squeezed her hand and gave her an encouraging smile. Alya smiled back. I can do it, she told herself, ignored her throbbing heart and joined the conversation of her friends who were discussing where to get the best donuts in town.

"So did anybody hear anything about Keaton, yet?" Scarlett asked the burning question they had been avoiding for the last hour.

"I haven't," Jax said shrugging his shoulders. The others shook their heads in concern.

"Well, they can't close it after our season's performance," Bianca said convinced. "Come on guys, we all know that our performance was exceptional. It was all over the news and the feedback was great."

"I guess you're right," Alya said. She admired her friend for her energy and positivity. Bianca was a fighter who never gave up.

"It's true," Kit agreed, "they wouldn't dare to close Keaton now after all the publicity – Would they?"

Nobody answered.

"Shall we make some music?" Miles suddenly said and grabbed his guitar.

Suspecting his plan to distract them, Alya hurried to reply, "That's a great idea."

Miles looked up and caught her smiling at him which made his heart skip a beat. How he had missed that smile. Of course it had been really awkward seeing her again after their conversation the other day. But now, it actually felt pretty good to hang out and make music together. And he was sure, that that weird feeling in his stomach would soon be gone as well.

He began to play a cheerful song and soon everyone joined in.

"Alya, Miles, can you sing Dig Deep for us, please. I love that song," Scarlett asked after a few songs.

Alya shifted uncomfortably and looked at Miles, who met her eyes questioningly.

"Sure," she shrugged and tried to swallow the lump in her throat.

Miles began to play the first tunes of their song. When it was her turn to start singing, she closed her eyes and poured all her feelings for Miles into her voice. "Years of running couldn't stop, too afraid to sleep..."

She opened her eyes again when Miles joined in and turned to look at him. Their eyes met and she couldn't help smiling as their voices blended in perfect harmony.

"... dig deep and live, everyday"

After the last note had faded, Miles and Alya kept looking at each other so caught up in the moment, that they had forgotten everything around them.

Bianca shared a knowing look with Jax. Her two friends could pretend as much as they wanted. For everyone else it was obvious, what was going on.
