"IT'S NOT THE POINT JAY! WE AREN'T TOGETHER AND NEVER WILL BE AND NOW WE'VE JUST RISKED EVERYTHING WE'VE WORKED FOR"
"Hailey..."
"Save it Jay... I'll deal with it on my own" Hailey picked up her bags and quickly left Jay's apartment.
3 months earlier -
The team were gathered in the bullpen talking about any new cases that came in and finishing up paper work from the day before. Antonio walked over to Jay's desk and sat on the end,
"So, have you heard anything?"
"She's gone man, for good and it's time all of us moved on" jay stood up and pushed his chair in and walked into the kitchen.
He poured coffee into a mug and stirred some sugar in before standing against the counter and scrolling through his phone. He scrolled past her name and went to press dial, "what are you doing Jay" he said to himself as he put his phone away.
He walked back out into the bullpen and the first thing he saw was blonde hair with a hint of brown which was just below the shoulder. He looked again and felt himself go weak, "Eri-"
Ruzek interrupted him quickly, "Jay this is Hailey Upton, it's her first day on the unit, she's transferred"
Jay said a quick hi before grabbing his jacket and leaving through the back door. Hailey introduced herself to everyone throughout the day but she couldn't help think about Jay and his reaction seen as she was going to be his new partner. It was a few hours later and she walked over to Antonio.
"Hey Antonio, I know it's my first day and that but did I say something to jay to upset him and did I do som-" She tried to explain
"Oh, no Hailey, Jay just going through some things and I think you reminded him of someone he used to know. Well your hair I think. Don't worry, he'll come round." Antonio said reassuring her.
Jay's POV -
How stupid am I. I looked and actually thought it was her. It would never be. Shes gone, she left and she's not coming back. Now I've made a complete fool out of myself and she probably thinks I'm weird. I want to move on and not have her constantly still controlling my life when she's not even here. Voight won't even left me talk about her to him because he doesn't want to be reminded that the person who is practically is his daughter has left and won't come back. I want to move on now and I think I can try.
Nobody's POV -
Jay slammed his car door and walked through the back door and into the locker room but as he did, Hailey was stood in there. He let out a little cough before walking in, she turned her head slightly but didn't say anything.
"Hi... I didn't say before but I'm Jay.. Halstead. It's nice to meet you Hailey"
"Hi jay"
"Listen about before can we just forget that and start from now"
"What about before?"
"Upstairs.. when I" Hailey let out a smirk, "right I get it, thanks" jay continued letting out a smile.
"It looks good on you" Hailey said grabbing her coat and walking to the door
"What?" Jay said
"A smile" Hailey said as she walked out the locker room leaving jay stood there smiling.
