It was all dark, and snoring of someone could be heard. Sora opened his eyes in shock as he woke up, rubbing his forehead. He could still feel a bit of pain inside, and he didn't remember what happened before. He looked next to him, and saw Geno still asleep. He finally woke up after a while.
"Hmm? Are we dead?" he inquired, still tired.
"I don't think so?" Sora responded, a bit uncertain.
The spiky brown-haired boy looked around this unknown world he was in, and then examined the ground. It looked flat, smooth and translucent, with bright magenta and a few shades of blue brightening the otherwise dark place. It also had an intricate yet simple pattern made of curvy lines that evoked a butterfly. Sora could recognize this type of ground.
"Magically created platform?"
He stood up and started looking around this unknown place.
"I'm not sure where we ar-"
He yelped a bit in pain as he hit his head and part of his body on something hard.
"What is this?!" he wondered as he touched the transparent wall in front of him.
Geno finally stood up and went to Sora. He knocked on the wall a bit.
"I'm a magician, and this must be some kind of magic barrier that prevent us from leaving", he deduced.
Sora looked around once again, and started to rectify him.
"Not this time, Geno. This is actually a glass dome!" he corrected him.
Indeed, our two heroes were trapped inside a floating dome with no opening in sight. Outside of the floating platform, it was a rather enclosed dark place with many objects cluttered, from the ground, to the walls and shelves. No one had been cleaning up the room for a while. A bunch of boxes containing small golden brooches could be seen staggering very near the edge of the highest as well as unstable shelf around, wanting to fall on the ground already. A bunch of folks could also be seen all around the place, and Sora was the first one to take notice.
"Hey, Geno. Look, some locals!" He pointed out.
"Hey! Over here! Hey guys! Can you see us! GUYS! Help us! Help-!" Sora and Geno yelled, trying to get the attention of said locals.
Sora immediately stopped. Something wasn't quite right. He wasn't sure what. He took a better look at the locals, confused.
"Wait a minute!" Sora started to observe them.
Before his now horrified eyes, he caught a blue and white female fox standing motionless on a golden stand on one of the right shelves with a price tag that said Krystal Fox $8.00; Some sort of samurai (Takamaru) wearing a white and red with his black hair tied in a ponytail readied his sword despite being a motionless statue on a golden stand, which was attached and hung from the ceiling with a string; And finally, on a table nearby, a trio of dwarf-like human children who were completely white in appearance, but they also had black beady eyes and a bowtie around their neck (Chorus Kids), and like everyone else, they were a statue that struck a pose on a small golden round stand. Sora could feel a heavy sentiment of dread falling from his head to his lower legs. What he saw was something that he wished couldn't happen to anyone.
"T-those folks are… dead!" he stuttered with dread in his voice.
He and Geno held each other, shaking in fear, as a giant blue being floated toward their dome. His blue luminescent body lightened all over the place, making them turned around to see the same giant with butterfly wings who previously kidnapped them. They shrieked from the sight of Tabuu as they tried to escape the dome they were trapped in, but to no avail. Tabuu can't help but laugh at their struggle and misfortune. Sora and Geno finally stopped screaming and calmed themselves a bit. They saw the giant blue digital-looking butterfly man flying toward the opposite direction and they leant their face and hands on the glass dome to see where he just went.
"What is he gonna do to us?!" Sora wondered, still shook.
Tabuu was standing behind a beautiful working table that looked like the platform they were standing on. He took out something and put them on said table. It was a futuristic crate.
"Oh no! He's taking out his evil instruments of torture!" Sora gasped.
From the crate, he took out some glue and a jar of clothing accessories that looked like it belonged to a very small doll. The jar had some words written in black marker that said ACCESSORIES.
"Glue? Accessories?" Sora and Geno shook in fear.
Next, Tabuu took out a random trophy depicting a yellow two-tailed fox and put some glue on him. He then glue some goggles on top of his head, some white bandages around his legs and arms and some sort of leather belt around his waist.
"He's trying to revamp…"
Tabuu showed his final work on the now differently dressed two-tailed fox. A paper with word written Miles Tails Prower was put before his now bandaged up red and white shoes.
"…Miles Tails Prower!? Geno! He is killing people and creatures to turn them into cheap-looking trophies! And I think we're gonna be next! " Sora pulled on his brown hair, alarmed by realization.
"You think?!"
Sora turned to Geno, who was held by Tabuu's giant blue hand. He was pulling the puppet out from the secret opening of the apparent no opening dome.
"GENO! NO!"
Tabuu also reached his other hand toward Sora. He summoned the keyblade and tried to ward off his clutch, but ended up failing anyway. Now out of the glass dome, Sora and Geno shouted in terror as Tabuu took them to a table that involved a huge strange-looking cannon that shot black arrows perpetually on the flat surface. He put them in the middle of where the cannon was shooting, making them stop screaming in the process. The black arrows immediately paralyzed their body, making them hard to move.
"This black arrow is so powerful… from this cannon… that my body feels like stone", Sora struggled to breathe in a raspy voice as he tried to move, but he could barely move the hand that still held the keyblade.
"I feel you…" Geno agreed, anxious.
Tabuu was laughing at his poor victims' fates before he grabbed a book next to the table and go to the bathroom, closing the door behind. Back to said victims, Sora and Geno's body were starting to desaturate to a gray color, helpless and unable to move.
"This doesn't look good at all, Geno", Sora stated in concern.
"You mean we're not gonna get the glove, save Smash and Sakurae?" Geno struggled to sing the last part.
"I'm afraid that we won't even be able to save ourselves."
Sora tried to shield his face with the keyblade, but yelped a bit when he let the weapon fell on top of his face. With all the strength his left hand had, Geno tried to put the keyblade back to Sora's paralyzed hand.
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
"Well, looks like what everyone out there said about us were right, Geno", Sora affirmed in despair.
"That we're attractive?" Geno asked him, confused.
"No, that we're invalid. A couple of delusional invalids who think they're much more important than they really are. We were doomed from the start. Look at us, Geno, we never came across the glove. We let everybody down. We failed!"
"Great Maze…" Geno breathed.
"Yup, we never made it to the maze."
"Great Maze…"
"Yeah. The place we never went to."
"Great Maze…"
"Okay, you can stop annoying me, Geno", Sora groaned a bit in annoyance.
"No, look over there! The sign! Great Maze Trophy Gifts, sticker, CDs and costumes" Geno pointed at the sign over them with all the energy left from his right hand.
"Great Maze is a gift shop?! But if this is the Great Maze… Then where is the…"
Sora tried to lift his now heavy and stiff as giant rock head, which proved to be a challenge, and looked on his left. He gasped from what he just saw. A little far from the table with the hanging arrow-shooting cannon they were exposed to, the white glove was displayed by being worn by a white fiberglass dummy hand that were used to display jewellery. A price tag written Master Hand's Glove $79.99 was attached to the side of the tiny finger.
"G-Glove~!" they said in unison.
"Master Hand's glove! This really is the Great Maze! Geno, we made it. We finally reached the goal!" Sora declared with happiness growing in his heart.
"Indeed. We really did."
"We did awesome, for a pair of unwanted rejects…" Sora sniffed as tears of joy were forming in his eyes despite his current situation. Geno also began to cry. A happy tear fell out of their eye and slid out of the table.
"I'm a Dippy Goofdawg, yeah!"
Sora started to sing happily albeit in a raspy voice. What he knew now, it was his final moment alive. Geno joined for a duet.
"You're a Dippy Goofdawg, yeah"
"We're all Dippy Goofdawgs, yeah "
Their teardrops merged to form into a heart shape.
"Dippy, Dippy, goofdawg, goofdawg, yeah"
They soon succumbed to the black arrows and were eventually turned into inanimate trophies, complete with a golden stand glued under their feet while they strike a pose with an uncanny and hollow smiley expression on their face, like a child doll. Our heroes once went through this dangerous journey and finally met their end at the Great Maze, but did reach their goal at the end of the day. There was nothing they could do. Their story ended here…
