He felt cold as he struggled to run through the dark corridor, his legs begging him to stop, the angry shouts behind him pushing him to continue. He didn't know how long he had been running, but it felt like hours, the corridor seemingly spanning forever. He tripped, falling to the floor, but immediately got back onto his feet after feeling a cold hand graze his ankle, screaming as he pushed himself to gain more ground, and felt his heart flutter as a door came into view, an escape? He hoped so, scrambling to reach the door's handle, and falling into the room after finally pulling handle, the door shutting with a loud bang. Light flooded his vision, blinking quickly as his sight adjusted, he was in a living room. emTheir /emliving room, He bristled still wary of his surroundings, his ears picking up on the sound of a piano, glancing over he tensed as he found the source, a man with greyed hair, and lab coat, playing a familiar tune seemingly unaware of the toddler behind him, "Aelita is waiting upstairs.", he finally spoke, not looking up, "Why don't you go say hello?", he offered still playing, the child frowned, he wanted to ask more, to say something… but sighed as he headed up the stairs, suddenly aware of the feeling of eyes glaring into him as he neared the top, and headed towards the slightly ajar door, leading into a pink room, decorated with a few posters, along with some books scattered about, and reading on the bed was a girl older than him, "Aelita?", he asked softly, the girl perking up at the sound of her name, smiling at the young boy, "Hello, it's been a long time hasn't it?", she asked cheerily not getting up, he nodded unsure what else to say as he looked at the girls desk, school work waiting to be done, along with pencils and pens strewn about, "Although…", Aelita spoke from behind, her tone losing emotion, "I have to ask…", she continued her voice growing closer as a chill overtake the room, "Why didn't you say anything?" she asked coldly right behind him, "It's your fault… if you had just said something.", she said placing a cold hand on his shoulder the boy whimpering a fear over took him, "We would still be here.", she whispered into his ear as the room shattered like glass, returning to the corridor. He began to hyperventilate as the cold grip was suddenly ripped off him, finally turning around he froze, eyes wide as he watched as several men dressed in black suits drag away Aelita, the latter screaming out reaching a hand for him, "It's your fault!", she screamed at the boy fell to his knees, "It's your fault Jackson!"
He awoke with a gasp, drenched in a cold sweat, the now teenaged boy rubbing his face to help get his bearings, Jackson fell back into his pillow, glancing at the clock, he scowled when it read half past in the morning, "Of course this is how I start today." He muttered staring up at his ceiling. After a moment of angst filled moping , Jackson forced himself up and dressed himself, heading downstairs to the smell of pancakes and bacon cooking, and coffee on the pot invigorating him somewhat as he entered the kitchen, "Morning.", he greeted to the cook, the pink haired woman flinching some, turning around with a warm smile, "You're certainly up early, sleep well?", she asked going back to her cooking, "I guess.", he murmured not exactly enthusiastic, earning a worried glance from his aunt, "Well if something is bothering you, you can always talk to me about it.", she offered sliding a plate of breakfast to the tired teen, "I… I had a dream about… them again.", he sighed already knowing the reaction he would get, a sad look crossing his aunt's face as she sat next to him placing a hand on his shoulder, "What happened wasn't your fault Jackson.", she comforted while gently squeezing his shoulder, "I know, but… I still feel like I should have said something… anything,", He lamented as he turned to look at his aunt's face, "I still see those eyes, glaring at me.", he muttered his aunt removing her hand, "Jackson, you couldn't have known what would have happened, your mother and father tried to do everything they could to help them, you were a child mixed up in something you weren't aware of, I know you saw them spying in on them, but what happened to them isn't your fault.", she emphasized pulling her nephew into a hug, the teen weakly returning the gesture unconvinced, "Thank you Aunt Anthea." He smiled weakly breaking the hug and focusing on his pancakes, his aunt ruffling his hair as she went to pour herself a mug of coffee, "I'm surprised your parents aren't awake, your mother was very intent on you three going to bed early, don't want to miss your flight.", she mused stirring cream into her coffee, "Are you nervous?", she asked Jackson shrugging, "A little, but not because I'm going to school in another country, I'm just anxious about being so close to where they lived.", he admitted scarfing down his breakfast, Anthea nodding in understanding, "I'm sure it will be, but Kadic is a good school, and you need a better challenge.", she argued earning a chuckle from her nephew, "Yeah, yeah I know… I know… don't need to parrot my mom, I'm sure it's a pretty high-end school if Uncle Waldo, taught there.", he mused, a sad smile crossing Anthea's face, "I suppose.", she agreed as the faint sound of an alarm clock reached the kitchen, followed by the sound of two people bickering, earning a laugh from both Anthea, and Jackson, "Try and make some nice friends, Alright?", she asked earning a nod from the teen, "I'll try, no promises.", he smirked as he went up to grab his suitcases, his fingers grazing over the engraving his mother had insisted on, 'Jackson Dashiell Hopper'.
