So uhh...hi there. I had this idea and i wanted to try but it seemed daunting, so big thanks to Klonix for the big boost. Gonna try to actually finish this thing. I don't own beyblade. Please enjoy.
A dead silence filled the stadium. Not a peep heard. Not a whisper uttered. A pair of intense breaths alternated between each other. Two pair of eyes stared across the smashed beydish. The sounds of metal clashing matched their heartbeats. Their sweat tickled down their expression high from adrenaline and brute, forced determination.
The crowd was dead silent, their jaws dropped. They had never seen such destruction, such passion, endurance and resolve. Even the beybladers were at awe, especially the respective team members of the two fiery individuals that took centre stage.
At this point even the commentators had decided to refrain. their commentary would only serve as a distraction from the ambiance the two young 'bladers had established with such ease and flair. And fear.
A slashing sound screeched throughout the stadium as the beyblades clashed one more time before losing momentum and toppling to either side.
A collective gasp exploded into the ether.
"It's a draw!" The announcer screamed to the top of his lungs, as if someone had breathed life into the poor man. Even the judges passed him rather a critical look for letting his excitement getting the better of him. The crowd, despite their excitement, also decided to stay quiet and waited for the final decision.
One of the judges, an elderly man struggled to get up, before grabbing the announcer's microphone.
"….After the judges' decision," he drawled. "We've come to a decision that these two fine beybladers both deserve to qualify for the next round. So as a result of a draw, Kai Hiwatari and Hilary Tachibana, you both are heading into the next round!"
The roar of the crowd suddenly erupted. Cheers overcame the encompassing silence; the two individuals said nothing but turned on their heels and headed back to their respective podiums…
….and inside the stadium.
"Congratulations, Hilary!" Tyson jumped up at the female with fervor, only to meet the brunette's cold shoulder collide with his as she stomped past him into the dark recesses of the stadium.
"Hey!" Tyson snorted at the brunette,
"Tyson, she's stressed," Kenny tried to calm the angry captain. Tyson simply huffed.
A cold silent response from the typical cold Russian as he simply passed by his smirking teammates.
"Going somewhere, Kai?" he heard Tala snicker from behind. He chose to take a deep breath and head inside.
As he sauntered through the cold corridors, his mind was going back to when his eyes met with her during the qualifying rounds.
"What is it?" Tala leaned towards the unusually quiet Kai. His mouth slightly hung open and his eyes wide as he stared into the sea of people in front of him.
"You see someone you know?" Still no response. Tala was getting aggravated. Usually a grunt of even the slightest of utterance would come from the blue-haired Russain. But this time he was being met with uncomfortable silence.
"Hey. Earth to Kai!" Tala barked at him, Kai simply responded by grabbing Tala's skull and veered it to his right, slightly pointing at a female hugged in orange. Tala noticed the brown chocolaty locks, the familiar brown chocolaty locks. Locks hunched over the qualifying table.
"What is she doing here?"
"Cheerleading, obviously," Tala joked as a distraction for the seemingly distressed Kai.
"When did she learn to beyblade?" Kai mumbled in obvious shock.
"Who cares?!" Tala snorted."Don't let that distract you from winning, kai!" He poked his chest hard enough to wake him out of his trance. He couldn't speak, couldn't think, he felt he couldn't even breathe.
"Look! She's just a contender, just like all of the rest. She is a mere distraction from your goals. Keep that in mind, you're a smart man Kai." With that Tala stomped off and left the somewhat unnerved Kai Hiwatari relishing in his disbelief.
"How….could you?"
With that question lingering off his tongue, curiosity got the better of him and he decided to head towards the tournament bracket for the qualifyers. He saw his name above a very recognizable name and his heart stopped. His mind went a total blank and everything around him blurred except that name.
Hilary Tachibana
The weirdest thing was that, even while he was a part of the Bladebreakers, she was the last thing on his mind, if ever. She was just a girl. Not the first he'd seen in his life and certainly not the last. No need for such an for him to take her that seriously that he feels like he's about to pass out.
And yet there he was, standing by the big board, feeling about to pass out.
"Kai?"
He cursed his ineptitude to move a muscle as he felt a very familiar hand graze his shoulders. He gulped hard, turned around and saw a familiar pair of ruby eyes staring back.
"Hey! You okay?" Hilary greeted the Russian keeping her usual chirpy self on, despite the fact he'd disappeared without saying goodbye for an entire year or so.
Not an answer. Typical of him.
If only she knew, but even he didn't know.
"So uh…" she rose over shoulder to glace at the tournament bracket. "You and me huh?"
He stiffly nodded.
"I don't expect you to go easy on me, just because I'm a girl and your friend Kai." She winked at him, even dared to wag a finger. Of course she was being playful. But something twanged in the residence of his mind and he took it as a threat.
"Hm, see you out there." With that he turned to his heels and walked off. Something about that confrontation had left a bitter note for Hilary. He seemed… hostile….
Then came the beybattle between the two, nothing special for the crowd. But it was Hilary's debut, so it was major deal for her. Her teammates did their best to calm her rightful nerves. Even opposing team members such as Ray and Max, along with many others that knew her stopped by and wished her good luck.
Kai just sat there, quiet.
"Hey!" Tala barked at him. "Get your head in the game, you're on next." The blue-haired male shook his head and woke up from his preexisting trance.
"You better not eff is up, Kai." A daunting threat from Tala as Kai's name was announced, he headed straight to the beydish without saying a word. Hilary entered to a faint cheer as well, a visible blush that soon disappeared when she met eyes with the male. Intensity, aggression, determination, resolve and passion were usual residents of those amethyst pools, but on that occasion they were riled up and dancing around like a drunks in a festival. That equally scared and angered her. With that thought hanging by she laced her beyblade with a tight grip. And unleashed.
Kai was surprised at the natural talent that was on display. He had to admit, it took him by surprise and he receded back to his previous condition. She was so intense… unlike anyone he'd ever face, even Tyson.
That once again struck a nerve and he unleashed his full potential, thus raged on in an intense battle of metal clashing against one another. She fought back valiantly, and with equal determination. She was debuting against the one of the best beybladers—the best in her mind, despite of what he'd done—and she did not want to disappoint herself, the crowd, her teammates.
And him.
And she didn't. For a rookie, she lived up to her expectations. A draw against Kai Hiwatari is no small deal. But something was off, very off.
She rested in her locker room, enjoying some well earned ice cream. A knock on the door. She got up to greet the guest. She dropped the ice cream tub that she held.
"What are you doing here?"
He said nothing, she sighed and greeted him in. He was obviously still tense.
"Nice battle huh?" She tried to be nice, still no response, now she was getting angry.
"What's with you? I try to be nice and you continue to ignore me like that, yet you barge in my room." No response.
"Don't think I forgot what you did."
He veered and marched towards her, eventually towering her. She gasped and her eyes darted every which to calm her nerves.
"Wh—what are you—" She was met with a soft pair of lips.
