Later that night...

Crystal was just on her way over to her best friend's house so that she can see how Katie was doing. She hasn't heard anything from the tomboy after she had stopped that argument between her and James at Goth Boy's house. She just hopes that Katie wasn't too annoyed with her after that.

Crystal searched around the neighborhood for a couple minutes, until she eventually found her best friend's house. She took notice of the car not being parked in the driveway, making it feel like Katie's either home by herself or not home at all. Either way, Crystal went up to the front door to check. She approached the front door and gave it a knock.

A couple seconds went by, and Katie finally answered the door. "Oh, hey Crystal. What's up?" Katie asked her best friend.

"Oh, just checking in on you, Kate." Crystal said, shrugging her shoulders. She then points her finger at the door, before asking her friend another question. "Can...I come in?"

"Sure, dude." Crystal steps inside the house, as Katie closes the door. "I don't think you're going to stay here for long. My dad's going to be back home anytime now. All he has to do is pick up some dinner from Gino's Pizzeria and he'll be on his way back."

"Eh, I'm not going to be staying that long anyway. Besides, I was just checking up on you after our little...argument, about James."

"Oh...I see..." Katie then rubs the back of her neck, feeling rather guilty if Crystal is still annoyed with her about it. Cringing, she decided to ask about that. "Hey, you're not furious with me for not letting you kick James's ass, right?"

The rebel shrugged her shoulders, while shaking her head. "I'm not, Katie. Though..." Crystal scoffs, before giving her best friend a smirk. "...Even if you told me not to, Goth Boy probably would've asked Yuki to go kick his ass anyway."

Hearing this, Katie's guilty expression turned into a glare. "That's reassuring to hear..." The tomboy muttered sarcastically.

"Right...so anyway..." Crystal then places her hands on her hips, before cringing at the glare Katie was giving her. "Are you...upset with me after that fight? I know I can be annoyed a lot, but..."

"I'm not upset. I was still a bit annoyed, but not really anymore." Katie then walks over to the living room, before leaning on the back of the couch. "Either way, just be happy that I was able to convince James not to bother your other goth friends ever again. I'm pretty sure he's got plenty of friends at the arcade."

"Not too sure about that." Crystal turns her head towards the window in the living room. "The only person that I see him hang out with regularly is that Jenny girl."

"Well, they've been childhood friends. Though, I'm sure he has more friends than just her."

"Probably." It was at this moment, the rebel decided to change the subject to something else, rather than James. "Anyways...so, did you stumble upon anyone else on your way back home?"

Katie then glances over to the arm of the couch, seeing her phone just laying there. She knew Crystal was also very good friends with Annie, but wasn't too sure if she was also aware of what she was going through as well. The last time Katie had seen those two talk to each other was when they argued about something, so she wasn't too sure if the two had talked since then or not. Regardless, the tomboy decided to ask about it anyway.

"So...do you know that Annie had moved out of her dad's house who knows how long ago?" Katie asked while turning her head to face her best friend.

"Yeah. She told me." Crystal said, before crossing her arms. "I'm not surprised. Her father can be such an asshole most of the time." She then pointed at herself. "She asked me if she could've stayed at my house, but...sadly, my parents refused."

"Oh...well, at least I know you guys are on good terms now." Katie smile for a second, before losing it when she spoke again. "She's going to be living with her boyfriend now, which...sadly, I don't know where he lives in this town."

"I'm sure Annie will tell us when we plan on visiting her someday."

"Hopefully." Katie said with a nod.

"So...is that all that happened after you went home?"

"Well...one more thing happened a couple hours ago, somewhere right before my phone call with Annie." The tomboy stood up from the couch, before continuing to explain that one part. "On my way home..."

Before Katie could explain what had happened, she heard the sound of a knock coming from the front door. The tomboy glances over to the living room window, seeing her father's car parked in the driveway from her spot. She must've not have noticed him returning during her and Crystal's conversation.

"Shit...my dad's back." Katie whispers. She turns her head back towards Crystal one last time. "Look, if we hang out tomorrow, I'll tell you more about it."

"Alright." Crystal said, as the two made their way out of the living room and into the hallway.

Katie went over to the front door, opening it up to let her father into the house. She then stepped back, allowing her dad to enter the house, a pizza box in hand as he entered. Katie closes the door behind him afterwards, which was when her father immediately took notice of Crystal being here too.

"Oh, good evening, Crystal." Katie's father said to the rebel. "I thought Kathryn told me you two stopped hanging out hours ago."

"We did, but..." Katie said, before pausing for a second. "...That was only because of a little argument that we almost had involving James Louiston and the other goths, but...we're all good about it now, so no need to worry."

"Yeah." Crystal then points towards the front door. "I was just going to be heading home anyway." The rebel then looks at Katie one last time, before pointing to the front door. "See you sometime tomorrow, alright Katie?"

"Alright. Later, dude."

Crystal then turned her head towards Katie's father, before bowing her head at him. "Later Mr. Morris."

"Have a pleasant evening too, Crystal." Katie's father said to the rebel as she exited the house. The man then turned his head towards his daughter, right as the front door closes. "My apologies if I came while you two were still hanging out together, Kathryn. If you still planned on it, I would've aloud it."

Katie smiled while shaking her head. "It's cool, dad." The tomboy said. "Besides, me and her spent all morning hanging out together and reuniting with many other friends. Now, I just want to spend time with my dad before the day is over."

"Okay, dear. If that's what you want." Katie's father said with a smile. After all of that was said and done, Katie and her father went off to the kitchen to eat their dinner.

Meanwhile...

With Crystal...

The rebel was walking down the sidewalk, trying to make it back to her house. Her house was a couple blocks away from Katie's house, so Crystal didn't really bother calling her own parents or any of her friends to pick her up. Her friends were all probably busy anyway, and as for her parents, she wasn't very close with them all that much. So she just remained walking home, being alone to her thoughts.

As she was walking down the sidewalk, Crystal looked around the street seeing how empty it was at night. Most people around here would usually either be partying at one of the clubs or just at home doing whatever they want, so nobody was normally out here around this time. It was almost eerie how empty the street is whenever it's nighttime. The lack of street-lamps on some streets didn't make it any better. But regardless, Crystal was totally fine with this.

During her walk, there was nothing but silence surrounding Crystal at the moment. But it wasn't until she made it to one of the crosswalks that she began to hear the sound of her phone ringing. She pulled her phone out, seeing that one of her friends was calling her, that being Chaz. Crystal gave the name a smile, before finally answering the call.

"Hey Chaz." Crystal said. "What's going on?"

"Hey Crystal. Just seeing how you've been doing." Chaz said on the other line. "Me and Tim are just hanging out at my house, watching TV. What are you doing?"

"Just heading home from a friends house." Crystal then began to walk across the street, before continuing to talk. "I haven't heard from you all day. What have you been doing?"

"I spent all day with Summer. Me and her had a date at the park, then we went to my house so that we can watch a movie together."

Hearing this, Crystal rolled her eyes. If her cheerleader sisters were bad to live with, Summer was even worse for her. She always hated Summer Baxter from the very first time she saw her. However, what makes it even worse for her is that of all people that Chaz could have picked as a girlfriend, it ended up being Summer. That alone made Crystal hate Summer even worse than her own sisters.

"Also...some chump crashed into me when I was exiting one of my friends apartment buildings." Chaz said, snapping Crystal out of her thoughts.

Upon hearing this, Crystal immediately became surprised. "Oh shit...are you okay?" She asked, sounding extremely worried for her friends.

"Yeah, don't worry though. I'm totally fine."

"Oh, well...that's good to hear." Crystal said, taking a sigh of relief. "So what exactly happened?"

"AlI can say is that some dude just came speeding down the sidewalk on their skateboard and crashed right into me."

"Really?" Crystal asked, raising an eyebrow upon hearing that. "Do you know what they look like?"

"I don't know...all I can really say is that it's just some girl. I never seen her around town before, and if she isn't new, then...I don't know, I must've completely missed her." Chaz paused before chuckling a bit. "Tell you this though, she seems kind of cool despite what happened hours ago."

"I see." Crystal then looks forward, seeing her house in the distance. "I'm almost home now, Chaz. I'll see if I can hang out with you and Tim tomorrow, alright?"

"Alright. See you, Crystal." The phone call ended there.

Crystal remained standing there, thinking about all that Chaz has said. She had a suspicious feeling about who had crashed into her friend hours ago, but wasn't completely sure of it. Then again, another part of her was thinking that she was thinking too much into all of this. With a shrug, Crystal gave the thought a smirk before proceeding to walk towards her own house.

About a couple more hours later...

Back with Katie again...

For the remainder of the night, she and her father just sat around in the living room and played board games. They also ate their pizza while sitting near the coffee table too. Normally, Katie's father would never allow them to eat dinner at the coffee table, but since his daughter was back in town, he allowed it. They kept hanging out in the living room until they finally decided to go off to bed.

In her bedroom, Katie had already gotten dressed in her pajamas and was prepared to lay down. But right before she could do so, she took notice of the present that her father had given her earlier just sitting there on her bed. Her father must've placed it there right after she and Crystal had left the house. Katie picks up the present, then places it over on her desk, then finally lays down on her bed.

'Man...what a day...' Katie said in her thoughts as she laid down, staring at the ceiling. 'Almost everything that I could've ever asked for happened today, and boy was it awesome. I got a job that I love, I reunited with most of my old friends...I guess the only thing that really didn't happen today was that I didn't get a boyfriend.'

After thinking about that last part, Katie did end up realizing she had never dated anyone before. Not during high school, not last summer, not even while she was still in Augusta. She wasn't too sure why she never decided to do so, but then again, she felt like it was probably because of her being so focused in studying that she never gotten around in doing so.

With a shrug, Katie closed her eyes. 'Eh...I doubt I should rush things. I don't even think I even want a boyfriend yet...I guess we'll just see what happens later on down the road...' Katie said in her thoughts, before eventually drifting off to bed.
