The next morning arrived...
Katie immediately woke up and did what she would normally do after she gets out of bed. She showered, she got dressed, she brushed her teeth, and she had breakfast. Pretty much, Katie's morning was just another standard morning for her, as always.
After doing her morning routine, Katie decided to go outside in the front yard for a few seconds, just to see how the day looks. She steps out of the house, glancing at the sky as she walked onto the porch. From the looks of it, there didn't appear to be a single cloud in sight, neither a regular one or a stormy one. The only thing that Katie actually could see in the sky is birds flying and at least one plane high above. All in all, it seemed like today was going to be a very beautiful day.
There was also a noticeable silence around this part of the neighborhood this morning. The only sounds that the tomboy could hear were the sound of the birds chirping above, and an occasional car passing by on the street above of her. Other than that, it was pretty much silent for a town that's well know for its partying. Very calm, very peaceful, something that Katie finds pretty rare in a town like this.
As she sat there looking around, the thing that caught Katie's eye was the house across the street from her own home. Somebody was just exiting that house, making their way to their mailbox. Much to her surprise, it was actually James. She had completely forgotten that he lives right across the street from her.
Katie hadn't heard anything from James, let alone had even encountered him after what had happened at Goth Boy's house yesterday. Hell, it surprises her that she hasn't stumbled upon him on her way back home, since both live on the same exact street as each other. Then again, James probably took a different route rather than what Katie had took, or he probably got onto a bus. Either way, she was surprised that she didn't even talk any further after what had happened, just like she did with Crystal. She just hopes that he isn't too upset about yesterday.
Hoping to be able to talk to him, Katie stood up from the porch, then proceeded to walk over to where James was. As she walked across the street, she calls out the man's name. James turns around when he heard his name being called nearby. Once he takes notices of Katie coming towards him, he then spoke.
"Oh...you again..." James mutters, clearly sounding annoyed at the sight of her. It seems like he was still bitter about yesterday. "What do you want, Katie?"
Hearing the bitterness in the goth's house, she cringed. "No need to be upset with me." Katie said. "I was just coming over to see how you're doing. That's all." She crossed her arms, before leaning on the side of the mailbox. "I'm sorry that...the goths rejected you...again."
"It's fine...I should've expected it anyway..." James then closes his mailbox, finally having all the mail that was inside of it. "Either way, I'm friends with Ray and Raven. That's really all that matters than being friends with either Goth Boy, Yuki, or especially Crystal...God, I hate that girl..."
Katie just remained silent after James said that. She was wanting to say something in Crystal's defense, but she knew all it would do is anger the goth even more than he already is. She can't deny that Crystal has her moments being a jerk at times, but she wouldn't say that she's as big of a bully as say two people she knew, Brandi and Derek. The silence was then broken when James places the envelopes he collected into his jacket.
"Hey, I...guess I should say thank you for the talk that we had back at Goth Boy's house...that, and for keeping Crystal from kicking my ass..." James said, scoffing out a bit of a laugh at the end. "Our talk might've been brief, but you're right, I should probably just stay to Ray and Raven as my friends."
"Your welcome...I guess..." Katie said, sounding rather unsure how to respond to that. "But...um...can I also say something before I head back home?"
"Sure. What?"
"It's about, um...Crystal..." Hearing that name being mentioned, James's smile quickly turned into a frown. Regardless of his annoyance, Katie proceeded to speak. "I'll admit, there's many times where she can be a bit of a jerk at times...but she's not a horrible person. You remember those two pricks, Brandi and Derek?" James nodded his head, before Katie continued. "Unlike them, Crystal's actually very nice at times."
Hearing that last part caused James to roll his eyes. "Sure she is..." He mutters softly, while still making it clear he's being sarcastic when he said it. "Next thing you tell me is that she never shoved me in any trash cans back in the Royal Academy."
"Oh..." Katie cringed, before James backs away from the mailbox.
"Anyway, I'd love to talk some more, but I promised Jenny that I'd meet her at the mall later on. I just have to get my mail inside before I go." The goth turns around, then walked away to the front door of his house. "I'll see you around, Kate."
"Yeah, I'll see you around." Katie just stood there watching James walk up to his front door for a few seconds, before turning around to head back to her own house.
About a couple minutes later, it was just about time for James to finally go to the mall.
Once the time had came, James got into his car and began to drive his way to the DownTown area of Simport. He tried to see if Ray or Raven would be interested in She joining along with him, but neither of them were so able to come. Ray was busy with talking with Goth Boy, while Raven was hanging out with Violet. Not to mention, with all the times he attempted to hang out with the goths, he doubts Jenny would really want them to hang out with. So it seems like it'll just be him and Jenny at the mall today.
Along the way there, James was getting a little bored of the silence that was lurking in his car as he was driving. Feeling like listening to some music, he chose to turn on the radio to see what was on right now. The moment he turned it on, the song 'Walk This Way' by Aerosmith started to play. He chose to keep it on, mainly because he loved this band so much, even hummed along to it as he drove.
Some more seconds pass by, which was when James's phone started to ring. He turns the radio down so that he can answer the phone for whoever was calling him. He picks up his Smartphone off of the seat to his right, seeing that the person calling him was Jenny. Seeing this, he immediately answers the call.
"Hey Jenny. What's up?" James asked his best friend on the phone.
"I was just seeing if you were still coming to the mall." Jenny said on the phone. "Where are you?"
"I'm trying to get there right now. You know the drive from my house to the mall is pretty far." The geeky goth said with a bit of a chuckle. "Are you there right now?"
"As a matter of fact, I'm about to arrive in a couple seconds right now."
"Oh, okay." James looks forward seeing a red light was coming, causing him to stop at it. "So...when I reach the mall, since...you're going to be the first one between us to get there...where should I meet up with you?"
"We should probably meet up at the video game store there, since it's the closest store that's near the entrance that we both like."
"That sounds like a good enough for me."
"Great. I'll see you then."
"I'll see you then too, Jenny."
Right then and there, the brief phone call had came to an end. Once the phone call had ended, James looks up at the traffic light ahead of him, seeing that it had finally turned green. He then proceeded to continue to drive his way to the mall.
