"Here" Serena said passing him a coffee as they both sat down next to him.
"I promised her once that I'd never ever hurt her again, it might not ever be okay again."
"Don't do this to yourself"
"I've lost her, them both Serena" he said hunched over with his tumbler of scotch in hand.
"Then fight for them, we'll help you fight too"
"Your offer is admirable but futile"
"You're not going to find the answer at the bottom of a bottle of scotch"
"That may be so, but it seems to dull the pain"
"Look at least let us order you room service, have something to line your stomach" Chuck just scoffed as Serena gestured to Nate to order some food.
Walking off into the kitchen Nate rang for some room service.
"Look you're family and I will do everything I can to help you. I believe you Chuck, you've bailed me out of jail, and trouble enough times" she said with a smirk and a little laugh, "and lets not forget about my wild nights"
"Good times" Chuck smirked.
"See your still in there, I really am sorry but I promise you we can work this out, find out the truth and you get your family back" she smiled as Chuck just stared blankly ahead.
Downing his drink he pours the last of his bottle of scotch as he stumbles to the bar for another bottle.
"Breakfast should be here in half an hour"
"Fantastic, will you both be feeding me too?" Chuck bit sarcastically.
"That depends, will you be in lingerie and a blonde wig?" Nate shot back with a smirk.
"Touche" Chuck offered back with a smirk as he sat back down and poured himself another glass.
Hearing his phone ring Nate answered it "Hello?"
"The bass-tard has stopped me from entering the empire again this morning. His security need reprimanding" she shot a glare at security before walking across the road, "I'm outside across the road for a debrief." she added before hanging up.
Nate let out a little sigh and rolled his eyes a little.
"Chuck I've got to go I'll be back in a bit," he said walking off towards the elevator as Serena followed.
Waving his hand nonchalant Chuck took another sip staring a hole into the floor.
"Where are you going?" Serena whispered before they got into the elevator.
"Blair, she's outside. Security wont let her in"
"Chuck?" Nate just nodded, "Stay by the bar, I'll come meet you after for breakfast?"
"I still feel a bit nauseous"
"You'll have to eat something"
"I know, I'll see if I can get us a booth. Find other ways to make myself feel better" she smirked running her hand along his cheek as the walked towards the bar.
Smiling Nate walked off towards the lobby.
"What took you so long?" Blair barked sat on the bench outside the empire.
"Good morning to you to Blair" Nate said sitting down beside her.
"Chuck has banned me from the Empire. He's banned me before but that was when we were on a sex fast."
"What do you want me to say? Chuck has hit rock bottom. All he does now is drink in bed and argue with Monkey."
"I had no idea it was that bad"
"Well it is, he's even given up on fighting, for you or Henry"
Blair looked devastated, "I didn't ask or want full custody, I know how much Henry means to him"
"Well he's devastated, just wants to drink his sorrows away" Nate said as they looked over at the limo pulling up outside.
Getting out were two blonde twins.
"Look Blair, I'll see what I can do, but I really think you need to try and sort this mess yourself. Get that fully custody demand retracted before he does something stupid" Nate said rushing back over into the empire.
Blair just sighed.
"Ladies, the bedroom is that way" he swayed carrying a bottle of champagne with some flutes and a bottle of scotch in the other.
Watching the twins walk off into his room the doors open as Nate rushes out.
"Hey, come on Chuck what are you doing?"
"Just living up to my potential"
"Not like this"
"Don't look so surprised Nathaniel, I'm single now this is who I am"
Gripping his wrist stopping him from walking off into his bedroom "this says otherwise," as Chuck looked down ashamed as Nate pointed to his wedding ring "I know it means something to you, so don't."
"She said its over, that's it. I've got nothing, I haven't even got my son anymore" Chuck shouted pulling his hand away from Nate.
"What so you just give up?"
"Yes Nathaniel that's exactly what I'm doing"
"Henry deserves better than a father like you"
Chuck just turned around seething "At least I've got a kid" he slurred and spat back.
"Fuck you Chuck" Nate said punching him in the mouth as he stumbled and fell into the couch.
"Henry is better off without you" Nate said disgusted before storming off and walking back into the elevator. S
tumbling back to his feet Chuck walks into his bedroom.
Settling down the champagne flutes he falls back onto the bed.
As one of the girls pops the champagne open pouring it out into the glasses, the other starts taking his shirt off. Lying back his eyes seemed to flicker as if it was all a dream, though more of a nightmare Chuck thought t himself.
Feeling his belt and trousers come off, he sits up in bed grabbing the bottle of scotch.
Biting and spitting out the lid he takes a huge gulp as they both begin to kiss his neck and body, as the one goes in to kiss him he moves his head away "No, not for you"
"Don't you want"
"No" he said shaking his head as it rested against the pillow.
"Oh, okay. Lets warm you up a little" one of the twins giggled as they kiss one another.
Chuck still glanced away through his glass wall at his bar broken. Nothing seemed to make the pain go away? This genuinely felt like the end.
A few days later
"I had a call? Chuck Bass is on the edge and asking for me?" Stepping aside that was the first time the security guard let her past and into the empire all week.
"No one cares, no one listens anymore" she heard him slurring and singing to himself.
"Chuck? Chuck?" Blair called panicked as she got onto the rooftop.
Seeing him sitting on the edge, bottle in hand he turned around "Chuck what are you doing up here?"
"Blair" he said gesturing out to the night sky "I'm just taking in the view"
"Why don't you come down and we can look at the view together"
"Why do you care? Your life would be easier if I wasn't around."
"That's not true, if you die and I live. I have nothing."
"You have Henry"
"But I wouldn't have you, no one else to care about, no one else for Henry to care about" she said taking the last few steps towards him.
"It's different for you, your family needs you"
"What about you?"
"Nobody needs me."
"I do, we need you. Henry needs you" She finally moved beside him, leaning over the edge
"Then why did you leave me? Why have you taken Henry from me? You know I'd do anything for you two" he said as a tear trickled down and fell on the pavement below. "When I'm with you, I feel happier, less alone, less lonely"
"Chuck, I never wanted to take Henry from you, or leave you for that matter"
"You're the one that ended it remember?"
"Yes because I was mad at you not because I stopped loving you"
"Do you still love me?" he got up swaying looking into her eyes as she nodded.
Putting out her hand she was begging him to take it.
"Come on Chuck" she begged as he finally took her hand and jumped down.
Pulling him into a hug he held her tight "I'm so sorry"
"No I'm sorry, I would never take Henry away from you, I'd never want to hurt you like that."
"Then why have you?"
"It wasn't my choice, my lawyer put it down"
"Divorce, that was your idea though right?"
"You've hurt me remember, I'm not the one who has got someone else pregnant"
"You don't think if I could go back, I'd never hire the bitch?"
"I don't know you tell me, does she suck you off as well as I did"
Chuck let out a little laugh "Wow. We are going there? FYI no one has pleasured me as well as you do" he smirked running his index finger under her chin as she closed her eyes as she got goose bumps by his touch as a shiver shot down her spine.
"I know you feel the same way about me"
"None of it matters, we can't take back what's already been done," she said.
"Do you want to know what wouldn't matter"
"Don't say it, because I would, I'd care because you matter to me"
"That I am someone capable of being in a relationship, someone capable of being normal. I never thought I'd be capable of being in a relationship."
"If you were someone capable of being alone, someone capable of not suffocating me" Blair shouted back
"I wasn't suffocating you, I was trying to show you"
"Trying to show me what?" she cut in shouting back.
"I was trying to save us"
"There is no us, there is no this, there is no future" she stutters turning her back on him trying to hold it together "not anymore" she manages to let out struggling to breathe as the tears fell.
"Then why did you come here?" Chuck asked walking towards her "Couldn't you just let me go or do you just want me to be miserable"
"It wouldn't be my world without you in it. I could never let you go. Henry would be heartbroken if you were gone, you are everything to him he loves you"
Taking a swig of scotch he let out a sharp breathe out trying to stop himself from letting any more tears fall "Then what do you want from me Blair?"
"I don't want you going anywhere, I couldn't bare it"
"Yet you want a divorce and to take Henry away from me? After everything we've been through there is no room for secrets, neither should there be. Just us here, you and me"
"All the secrets we've shared, all the pain, the memories"
"What do you want?"
"I want painful, difficult, devastating, life changing all consuming extraordinary love" she smiled slightly looking up at him as he couldn't help but smile back.
