As the day went on, the hangout didn't last too much longer after Chaz and Katie's talk. The only thing that the group did was continued to watch TV for the rest of their time together, with the exception of Summer who was still in the dining room texting her friends. Nothing more, nothing less than that. Thankfully, throughout the rest of the hangout too, Katie's father hadn't returned home just yet.
After everyone had left, Katie immediately inspected her living room to make sure that there wasn't any sort of mess or anything that either Chaz or Summer had left behind. If her father had noticed that she had invited a bad boy into their house, then he won't be happy about it one bit. She inspected the bottom floor of the house as much as she could, until she heard the sound of her father's car pulling up into the driveway outside. From all that she saw, it doesn't seem like she has really anything to worry about.
While she was glancing around for a couple more seconds, Katie's father entered the house. "Kathryn, I'm home." The man said, as Katie entered the hallway.
"Hey dad." Katie said, as she went over to her father to hug him. After a couple seconds of hugging, the tomboy stopped before deciding to ask him about his workday. "So how was work today?"
"It was, as per usual, rather easy-going." Katie's father than entered the dining room, placing his work-bag onto the table. "Also...before I forget...I must inform you that starting tomorrow, you are now going to be working alongside me at my job. You are now going to be an official employee at my dentist, Kathryn."
"That's awesome to hear, dad. I've been looking forward to working alongside you ever since I got back from Augusta."
Katie's father than chuckled. "I know you have, dear." He then backs away from his daughter, clapping his hands together as he did so. "Why don't we celebrate with some grilled cheese sandwiches? Does that sound good to you, Kathryn?"
"You bet, dad."
"Alright." He then picks up his work-bag, before pointing to the living room walkway. "I'm going to go place my bag in the living room so that the table will be cleared off for us. Do you mind collecting some plates from the cabinets?"
"Sure thing." Katie's father then went over to the living room while his daughter went over to one of the cabinets to collect themselves some plates.
The father went over to the coffee table so that he can place his work-bag down. He was going to do it the moment that he got home, but decided to sort out his dentist equipment after dinner instead. Once he placed his bag onto the table, he immediately took notice of something that was also on the table that he didn't recognize before, nor recalled it ever appearing there from the start.
"Kathryn. Can I ask you something?" Katie's father asked his daughter.
Katie walked into the living room, as her dad picked up what he had found on the coffee table. "What's up, dad?" She asked him.
"Can you please tell me who's sunglasses these are?" Her father held up the sunglasses that were found on the table. "I don't believe that I recall either one of us owning a pair like this one."
Katie wasn't too sure what her father was even talking about, but that was until he held up the sunglasses that he was referring to. They were just basic yellow sunglasses with blue lens in them. Upon seeing them, Katie instantly realized who the sunglasses belonged to. They belonged to Chaz.
She didn't know when, let alone why, Chaz had taken his sunglasses off. All she knew was that her little hangout was pretty much busted at this point. However, it wasn't all too bad for her just yet, as the items that were left behind were merely just sunglasses and that's it. Instead of revealing that Crystal had invited Chaz and Summer over to the house without her father knowing, Katie decided to tell him something else.
"Oh...damn, those are Crystal's sunglasses." Katie said, before walking over to her dad. She gently took them out of his hands, before looking at her father in his eyes. "She came over today so that we can play some Halo together, and...she must've forgotten them when she left. I should probably call her later on so that she can get these back."
"Alright." Katie's father said. He then went over to the dining room, before looking behind himself at his daughter again. "I'll call your name when the grilled cheese is ready."
"Thanks dad." After she saw her father entering the dining room, Katie went over to the front door and then exited the house.
Outside on the porch, Katie's causal smile quickly became a look of anger as she pulled her Smartphone out of her pocket. She places Crystal's number into her phone, then held it to her ear. She then glanced down at her hand, staring at the sunglasses in her grip as she was waiting for her best friend to pick up her call. A couple more seconds passed, and Crystal finally answered.
"Hey Kate. What's going on?" Crystal asked on the phone.
"Hey Crystal...I need to ask you something. It's something...that's important..." Katie said calmly, yet clearly sounding like she's seconds away from yelling at Crystal for this. "...Did Chaz accidentally lose his sunglasses earlier today?"
"Well, he did ask me if I had his sunglasses or not. Why?"
"Funny you should say that..." Katie then sounded angry saying the next sentence. "...Because my dad founded them lying there on our coffee table! He almost figured out about the little hangout we had here hours ago. You're sure lucky that he didn't."
"Dude, you're acting like it's a bad thing if he found out about..."
"You sure as hell know that it's a bad thing if he found out about it!" Katie said interrupting Crystal in her words. "If he were to know that some random biker dude and his girlfriend was invited to the house with his permission, he'd be furious about it and probably lose my new dentist job on the spot!"
"You're finally hired at your dad's dentist? That's awesome."
Hearing that, Katie's expression grew shock. She then slams her forehead, before moving her hand down her face. "Don't try to change the subject, Crystal..." The tomboy muttered before placing the sunglasses down onto the lawn chair nearby. "Look, just come here and collect the sunglasses already. I'll be inside when you pick them up."
"Alright. I'm coming over there now."
"That's good to hear."
"Hey, before you hang up...can I ask you something about earlier, Katie?"
"Sure...what?"
"It's about you and Chaz." Katie raises an eyebrow, as her best friend continued talking. "So...I kind of noticed you and him were talking to each other upstairs, and...from the looks of it, I don't think you guys were arguing about anything up there. You guys now friends?"
"Well...I'll tell you this...I don't know if he did or not, but I believe that both of us had mutually decided to move passed what had happened two days ago. I mean...we never really brought it up during our conversation, but I believe that both of us just decided to just let that incident go." The tomboy then places a hand in one of her jacket pockets, before continuing to talk. "Although...I can't exactly say that me and him are friend...not yet anyway."
"Bummer. I was hoping that you two would become friends after awhile."
"I know you were, Crystal. All I can really tell you is that you probably should just give it some time." Katie then looks behind herself at her front door, before proceeding to end the conversation there. "Anyways, I probably should be getting inside now. It's getting dark out here, and my dad's getting dinner ready."
"Alright. I'll stop by the house and collect Chaz's sunglasses for him. I'll see you later, Kate."
"Yeah. I'll talk to you later too." After the conversation ended there, Katie places her phone into her pocket, then entered her house.
An hour later...
With Chaz and Tim...
After the hangout at Katie's house, Chaz dropped Summer off at the Boardwalk so that she can do her lifeguard job. As for himself, he had finally picked up Tim from there after he had gotten finished with everything that he had to do around there today. Chaz wouldn't be able to pick up Summer after her shift, since she had plans to hang out with friends at the mall afterwards, so that left Chaz to hang out with Tim instead.
At his house, Chaz and Tim were both sitting on the porch, just enjoying the outdoors at night. With such a beautiful night like the one Simport was having right now, one would think the first thing to do is just lay on the grass and just gaze up at the stars above. Both were...sort of doing just that, with the only exception being that Chaz was looking at his phone a lot more than he is at the sky. He wasn't really doing anything on his phone, except for looking at whoever had gotten any texts or calls while he was at Katie's house.
While he was sitting there, a text had suddenly came out of nowhere on his phone. Chaz didn't think of it as anything much, but that was when the name caught his eye. The person who had texted him just now was Travis.
Seeing this, Chaz was baffled. Of all people that would text him, one of the last that he'd expect is Travis. After all of the torment and bullying that he had done to him in the past, he was wondering why in the world is he texting him right now. Curious, he checked the text to see what Travis was wanting from him.
'Hey dude, it's me, Travis. I...kind of have a situation that I need help with, and...I need you and Tim's advice. Think that you can meet me down at the coffee shop near the Nightshade's Florist?' The text said.
"Dude..." Chaz said while tapping Tim on his arm. "I got a text from Travis."
"Travis?" Tim asked confused. "What does he want? I thought he and his girlfriend hate us?"
"They do...although Liberty hates me a lot more than he hates me." The biker than shrugged his shoulders. "I don't really know what he wants from us. He never said."
Chaz then looks back down at his phone again, still rather curious about what Travis wanted with him and his friend. Instead of agreeing to meet him yet, Chaz decided to question Travis further about what was going on. He then proceeded to text the man something.
'What do you want? What's going on?' Chaz's text asked. Without another minute passed, Travis sent another text to him.
'Look, I'll explain more when we finally meet up, alright? All I can say is that it involves Liberty and...well, our relationship. It's something that I...felt like you guys need to be aware of, and maybe even help me with.' Travis's text said.
'Fine. Whatever. We'll see you there tomorrow.' Chaz's next text said.
"Well Tim...I hope you didn't have any sort of plans tomorrow, because it seems like we're meeting Travis down at the coffee shop instead." Chaz said aloud to his friend. "I still don't know what he wants, but...whatever it is, it involves Liberty...for some reason."
"My word...I hope they didn't break up." Tim said, now sounding worried.
"Seriously, Tim? With how close those two have been after we graduated, I doubt they did." Chaz then glanced down at his phone again, before placing it into his jacket pocket. "I guess we're just have to figure it out when we meet up with him tomorrow morning."
"Well, regardless, I hope everything's okay with him and Liberty."
Chaz then stood up from his lawn chair. "Dude, I'm sure they didn't break up. If they did, I'm sure he'd probably turn to somebody else or something."
It was at this moment, Chaz stopped talking. He seemed to had heard something near the street in the distance. He wasn't so sure what it was, but to him, it sounded like it was somebody whistling for his or Tim's attention. He turned his head towards the sidewalk, seeing Crystal walking her way over to the porch.
"Dude, found your sunglasses for you." Crystal said holding out her hand to give the biker his sunglasses back to him. "You're lucky Katie didn't end up in trouble for you leaving them at her house."
"Jeez...all I did was leave my sunglasses there by accident, not left my motorcycle there, chill out." Chaz said, not seeing this situation as such a big deal.
"If her dad had figured out that you and Summer were at his house without him knowing, he'd be furious with me and Katie for doing this."
"Then be happy that her dad didn't figure out what had happened." Chaz then places his sunglasses onto his face, before shrugging his shoulders. "Anyways, just to let you know, me and Tim can't hang out with you tomorrow. We have to meet up with Travis for...whatever reason he wants us over there."
"Yeah, okay." Crystal backs away from the porch. "I have to hang out with the other goths anyway. I'll see you guys later."
Without another word, Crystal turned around and proceeded to head off home. Both men remained silent as the rebel walked away from the house, not really sure if one of them should say something. Chaz really didn't want to say anything to her as she walked away, from the look on her face, she still seemed pretty annoyed with him for being forgetful hours ago. As for Tim, he honestly didn't know what to even say during the situation, feeling like saying anything would probably start an argument.
After neither of them could see Crystal anymore, Tim stood up from his chair, before looking over to his best friend. "You know what? I think I'm going to call it a night too." Tim said. "It's been fun hanging out with you tonight though, Chaz."
"Yeah, it has." Chaz said, before walking over to his front door. "I'll stop by your house and pick you up. See you tomorrow."
"Same here." After that was said, Chaz entered his house as Tim left to head off to his own home.
