Thank you all for sticking with me on this. Sorry for the Chapter issue, but this should be better. Big thank you to Jeannabell for letting me know there was a format error.
It's been a ling time since I posted, but I'm glad to be back. My husband and I have moved 4 states from "home", started brand new jobs, and are currently trying for a baby. I'm hoping to write more, but I won't make a promise I can't keep.
The school day had gone by in a blur. Kyoya and Haruhi had arrived early that morning and she'd taken the time to study further in the library. Kyoya had gone off toward music room #3, but for what purpose she had no clue.
She felt pretty confident about her test from period 2, and lunch had gone by quietly for once. Hikaru and Koaru were missing at lunch, but one of their classmates had said he'd seen them go to the library. Whatever the case, she was thankful to have a peaceful lunch.
When she went to pull out her notebook for 5th period, she found a small box in her desk. "Now, how did you get here?" she asked.
She pulled the small, relatively flat rectangle out. It was wrapped in a beautiful white lily designed gift wrap with a turquoise bow on top. She removed the wrapping gently, hoping to save it to use again. Peeling it away from the underlying box, finally she pulled the top of the box from the bottom and inside was turquoise tissue paper obscuring the weighted object. She pulled it back and gasped. How could she not upon seeing a beautiful oval pendant. A crystal sat framed in gold with a beautiful cherry blossom in full bloom at its center. Underneath it is a folded paper, which she carefully pulls out after placing the box on her desk. She unfolds the paper.
My dearest Haruhi,
I know that you do not wish to start a relationship yet, but I would be very happy if you would spend time with me this Sunday. Please wear this pendant and something pretty when I pick you up. I shall arrive at 9 AM.
Looking forward to seeing you my darling, Tamaki.
A love letter and a date? Her eyes drift back to the pendant.
"Hey Haruhi, what have you got there?" comes the voice of Koaru much too close. She quickly closes the note and places it atop the pendant, then closes the pendant box.
"Nothing, just a note from my father about this weekend," she tries to cover. Too bad for her Koaru was over her shoulder reading. "What's next again, math right?" She pulls out her notebook and prepares for the next class.
Sunday morning came quickly. Kyoya had dropped her off Friday night and bid her goodnight before leaving, no dinner that time thankfully. She wasn't sure how she would feel having dinner with him knowing she had the pendant from Tamaki in her bag. She'd pulled it out and stared at it for a while.
Ranka knocked on her door, "Haruhi honey? Are you awake? I thought we could have breakfast together today."
"Hey dad," she calls. Still in her pajamas, she slides the door open. Her room is a mess. She has clothes everywhere, piled in what she thinks might be cute outfits. Pants with blouses, dresses with stockings, and even the navy skirt and white blouse Kyoya have given here. Though she'd axed that outfit about 10 minutes ago.
"Haruhi, what happened?" Ranka asked, concern clear in his voice.
"Huh? Oh, I was trying to figure out what to wear with this." Haruhi holds up the pendant in her hand, chain dangling in the air.
"Oh, it's beautiful. Did Kyoya give this to you?"
"What? No, Tamaki did. I'm meeting him in a while. Why would Kyoya give me something like this?"
Ranka looked at his daughter and smiled. It appears that the two boys would be fighting over his daughter after all. Tamaki, the stupid half-blood who clearly cared about her, and Kyoya, the third son of a very powerful family. Things would get very interesting come the school break then. With cherry blossoms in bloom and spring coming, who knows what March might bring.
"Well, if that's the case, then I suggest the white dress with the knit sleeves and a pale blue sleeveless tunic on top with your white stockings and those cute blue flats I bought a few weeks ago. The white and blue will compliment each other and the pink from the cherry blossom in this will stand out. And you should wear that gold-colored headband to keep your hair out of your eyes." He runs his fingers through her hair down to nearly her shoulder. "It's finally growing back too, which is great. Maybe this time you'll let it grow out again? Maybe even wear lady's clothes to school for your second year?" The hope in his voice increased with each word but was shot down by the look in her eyes.
"Thanks for the clothing advice dad, but I don't know about my hair, or next year. I'm gonna get dressed now, okay?" She slides the door closed in his face and puts all but what her father told her to wear back. For once, he just might be right about the clothes.
Once dressed, she goes out to the kitchen to make some tea, but a knock at the front door stops her. She opens it, "Hello?"
"Good morning Haruhi. Am I too early?" Tamaki stands on her doormat, blond hair pushed back as if he had been fussing with it. Jeans stretch across his long legs and a white button encases his slim frame. He looks just as handsome as ever with a bright smile on his face.
The clock reads 8:45 AM, so yes, he's technically early, but maybe not too early. "No sempai, come on in." She opens the door wider, welcoming him into the home.
Taking in the warm home, he's more prepared than last time. Then he sees her and his smile spreads wider. She's a beauty, dressed in white and blue, and wearing the pendant her picked out for her.
"Do you like it?" he asks as he slides out of his shoes and steps on the tatami.
"What Sempai?"
"Do you like the pendant? And you can call me Tamaki. There's no need to always be so formal."
"Oh, alright. And yes, I do like it. It's very beautiful."
"Is that Tamaki Suoh I hear?" comes Ranka's voice from his room.
"Yes, sir. Good morning," returns Tamaki to Ranka. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything. Haruhi and I have a date this morning."
At the mention of the word date, both Haruhi and Tamaki blush. Haruhi turns quickly and returns to the kitchen in hopes of finishing up the tea.
"Yes," Ranka says, a devilish smile across his lips. "Haruhi mentioned you were going out together today. Where are you taking my sweet daughter?"
Tamaki can't not hear the subtle threat in Ranka's voice and tries to smile again. "It's a surprise for Haruhi, but I assure you it will be a great time and she will be respected."
Ranka smirks and nods. "Very well, just be sure to feed her and get her home before dark."
"Yes sir," Tamaki says. "Haruhi, darling, are you ready?"
Haruhi cringes at Tamaki's use of the word darling and quickly grabs her bag, sliding it over her head. "Ready. Let's go." She grabs his hand and quickly moves to the door before her father can say anything about Tamaki calling her 'darling'. "Bye Dad!"
